My mum's zen touch is recognised but mine is

Please help.
My mums Creative Zen is recognised on my computer as soon as I plug it in but the computer does not recognise mine at all, tried using same usb port, same cable, chaning usb ports, changing cables. I've had mine longer, over a year and my mum's is still only a couple of months old. It used to recognise them both bwhen they were both plugged in now, my mums is recognised and mine isn't. Any ideas please?

Ok one case down for you.
I have done it.
I downloaded the formware and the drivers another time they said error whilst downloading I clicked yes to carry on then it tells you to reconnect product, the st time I did the download tonight the mp3 player was not connected the 2nd time it was connected all the way through and then at the last minute it says reconnect so took out usb cable and plugged it back in and tada the computer recognises the player, woo hoo I'm so happy. The happiest I have been in months, back to loving my creative.

Here's the deal: a while ago, my parents gave me a laptop because I just graduated. This laptop has Win Vista. At first, I didn't have my own computer at all, so I used my dad's Win XP computer to transfer music to my Zen Touch. When I got this laptop, I decided to upgrade the firmware of my player, so I could use my own laptop for the music transfer. I backed up all my music (on my dad's computer) and updated the firmware (which worked perfectly - after 3 days of trying). First, I checked if it worked on my Vista laptop, which it did. I synced the player with WMP and transferred one album to the player. This all worked. Then I got back to my dad's computer, with my back-u

I downloaded Creative Media Source 5 (I find this much handier then synchronizing with WMP, which also worked on the XP computer) with the plugin for the latest firmware and started to restore the music on my player. It worked fine. Untill I got halfway. The first half was perfectly transferred, but suddenly CMS wasn't responding anymore. I thought that this might be one-time thing, so I rebooted the computer and restarted CMS. CMS recognized the player, so I thought I was right. I continued on where I stopped last time, but again CMS wasn't responding. The first song I want to transfer rushes to 90%, but then the whole program gets stuck. But, this is not a real problem as we still have WMP to sync with the player. However, WMP suddenly wouldn't recognize my player anymore!! At first, WMP did for sure. Then I got to solution number 3. Put all the backed up music from my dad's computer that still hasn't been transferred on an external hd, and copy it to the Vista laptop. Sounds great, although WMP on the laptop also doesn't recognize the Zen anymore. After this, I retried it via CMS for at least a dozen times, but always the same. CMS recognizes the player, but always gets stuck when the song reaches 90%. I even tried to transfer the songs in a different order then before, but whatever I do, it keeps getting stuck. I preformed a disk clean on the player, I reinstalled CMS and the drivers on the computer, but nothing seems to work. The player itself works perfectly. I can listen to the songs that ARE on it, I can reload the battery, everything. Just not transferring, while I could do that before with the new firmware. And this is a shame, as my best albums are in the second half, so not yet on the player Anybody has an idea of how to solve this problem

Try re-booting ur comp lol. The same thing happened 2 mine but i kept disconnecting it and connecting again so it just froze, i had 2 run it down over night =/. Hope that helped =).

. can i transfer files from my player back to my pc?
2. can i transfer audio files only or are all filetypes possible?

Provided the songs aren't protected, then yes you can transfer them back to the PC aswell. Some songs, like ones you might buy online in WMA format, have protection on them that won't allow them to be copied from the player again.
You can copy data files to the player aswell, but you will need to do this through software (included on the CD and the web).

Zen Touch - wont recognise USB connectio

I upgraded my ZT with the new firmware released 28 October 2005.
I downloaded from the Creative site tonight the new update for the Zen Explorer for Play for Sure, and since then the Zen when plugged into the USB will not dock.
I did a format, and tried to reload the firmware from the rescue menu and now it's dead!
When I plug the USB in all I get is the Recovery Mode menu - how do I reload the firmware when the USB seems dead!!!

Have you look into this Knowledgebase article SID9287 and try the steps mention in it's Also, you may want to try rolling back to WMP0 instead and see if it helps with the detection.

Zen Touch not detected by Windows Explorer though recognised by Windows Media Pla

I wonder if anyone else has had a similar problem to this:
I am running Windows ME and my son has just received the player for his birthday.</LI>
Unfortunately the CD that came with the player caused this computer (and another) to lock-up so faulty CD assumed.</LI>
Loaded drivers from internet.</LI>
Camera and memory sticks all recognised by Windows Explorer but NOT the Zen Touch.</LI>
Now the surprise the Zen Touch IS recognised by Windows Media Player and my son can transfer files using that - but it is a VERY slow way of loading files and we would much prefer to use Windows Explorer.</LI>
Anyone any suggestions as to how to make Windows Explorer detect the Zen Touch?

The Touch is only recognised through Windows Explorer by virtue of installing Nomad Explorer.
Certainly make sure you have the latest version of this from the downloads page, you mentioned you have the latest drivers already.

Is it possible Creative pulled the Zen Touch Wired FM Remotes for a redesig

I was thinking of purchasing one of these wired remotes for my Zen Touch...but can't find them anywhere...anywhere here on creatives site and anywhere else online...all say out of stock...would make sense and all since it is Xmas coming up...but after reading all the reviews on this unit and how expensi've it is and how it breaks after a certain amount of months...perhaps creative is pulling them for redesign or something?

They've been hard to find since they were launched. Creative aren't good at keeping items in stock.

Zen touch startup screen cha

I have a Creative Zen Touch and recognised that in Nomad Explorer, I could go into 'Settings' and there was a part where it says to change the Startup Screen image. I clicked on it and chose a picture that was the required size (60x04) and it doesn't come up when I turn my Zen on. Any help? Thanks...

Will Zen Touch be made Rhapsody to Go compatib

I am considering buying a Zen Touch, but want to use it with rhapsody to go. Is the firmware upgrade required for Rhapsody to Go the same as the one required to make it Napster to go? I know that Creative has promised to make Zen Touch NTG compatible but want to know if a Rhapsody upgrade will also happen? If there are any ballpark timeframes on this happening, that would be great.

Both require the ability to use the Janus DRM.
So I assume when Nap2Go support happens, Rhap2Go will soon follow.

Zen Touch is not recognised on my

I have installed the new Firmware and the new music manager software etc, but it just won't be recognised by my PC anymore. It keeps asking me to install the thing. I insert the official zen touch CD and go through the motions, but it still doesn't work. I also have a laptop and have installed everything fine on there, but my PC desktop doesn't seem to be accepting it. Is it something to do with Service Pack and 2? My laptop has 2, but my PC has .

Zen Touch, LCD Display not working at all, but player is f

So I'm on the bus, listening to my Zen Touch, it's working fine, the LCD is working fine. Everything is dandy. Few songs later, I pull it out of my pocket, the LCD is blank. But the player is still going. I can change songs, adjust volume, play all randomly etc etc, but I'm working blind, cause there is nothing on the display whatsoever.
It was a dry day, so it wasnt moisture damage or anything. And I didnt drop it, or bang it. It went from working fine, to going in my pocket, to not working. Really strange.
I'm sure its just defecti've, but I leave for a week long vacation in just under an hour (good timing eh? works fine for 8 months and then bam, 6 hours before I leave the country...ugh **bleep** karma), and I'm praying theres a simple fix I'm just missing. I already tried multiple restarts and resets, and I even charged it for a few hours, thinking the battery was just getting weak. But no dice. If it won't display anything at all, even after a reset, it's likely there is a hardware problem. You could connect the player to the PC and update the firmware, but I suspect it'll be the same after that, unfortunately.

So, my zen touch is still acting weird, but differently n

So, yesterday and earlier today my zen touch had the power light lite, but no picture. Well, just a few minutes ago i noticed the power light was off, and oh how happy i was. Well, i go to try to power it up and nothing happens. Thinking maybe the batteries died i plug it into my charger. The power light goes on again, but it doesnt blink which indicates charging. So i unplug it and plug it into my usp port. THE LIGHT BLINKS, SUCCESS! Only problem is, screen won't turn on and my PC won't read that it is connected. Maybe my MP3 player is defected, which i hope its not, because i need it for finals week*starts tomorrow*

As TridentCQB intimates, I would reset the player, and also run a disk cleanup. This should hopefully clear any strange behaviour. To access the Rescue Mode hold down the play button and KEEP it held down, press the tiny reset switch once, and KEEP the play button held down until the player boots into the Rescue Mode. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu. Note: Disk cleanup should not remove your tracks. It searches through the disk for files and rebuilds the index, and can be useful for correcting any strange behaviour.

Audio sounds like half-speed on Zen Touch, but not on the

I've got TONS of Opie and Anthony that I'm moving from my computer to my Zen Touch. Unfortunately, many of the files sound as if they're playing at half-speed, even though the timer at the bottom is running at the appropriate speed. This only happens when I'm playing them on my Zen Touch; when I listen to the files on my pc, the sound is just fine.
Running firmware .00.06. I've read that there have been issues with new firmware, so I've been wary to update to a newer version.

Here is a rundown of what MP3 bitrates you will want to have:
Mono: 24KBPS and higher
Stereo: 40KBPS and higher
If you try VBR, it may be difficult to figure out exactly where to place the slider, but I would suggest keeping it from the lower sections so that it doesn't drop into the Khz sampling range.
All WMA bitrates should work ok, since they do not sample lower than 22Khz.

Zen Touch Drivers, Use CD not Web? But w

I had my 40GB Zen touch installed and running nicely on my system running XP service pack 2 using the drivers from the web. I also own a Nomad Jukebox 3 and firgured that since the driver file is the same for both devices (at least on the website it seems that way) that I could just connect the JB3 and it would work. Well it was recognized but, I received errors transfering files using Explorer, and it was not working properly. So I uninstalled the Creative Jukebox Drivers, and re-installed them. I then connected the JB3 and it worked flawlessly. BUT NOW the Zen Touch is not installing properly. I was only able to install both previosly when I used the touch driver cd on another machine, as well as the driver available for download for the JB3.
Why would Creative not have the same driver for download for the Zen Touch on the website as they include on the cd? Is anyone else having similiar issues? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Hey SSR. Basically using this driver, I can only install one device and have it work properly. I first had installed this driver and used it with the touch alone, and no problems. But when I connected the NBJ, it was running extremely slow (I am aware it is ussb .), I mean much slower than normal, and I wasn't able to transfer files with explorer. I received an error message to the liking of, "this file is unacessable". So like I said, I uninstalled the driver. Re-installed, connecting the NBJ first. and it worked no problem. But connecting the touch again it wasn't recognized. So I am left to belei've that with this driver, I am unable to have both devices work and installed properly on the same system. Others must be have had a similiar issue with this driver. Not too long ago I tried installing with the same driver on another systems and was not succesfull. I tried everything, using a different port, differnt cable, uninstalling, re-installing. The only thing that seemed to work was the cd driver. I am sticking with that, but I feel this needs to be addressed.

I just found my Creative Zen Touch but....

. Well as my title states, I just found my zen touch but it seems to have a fimrware problem.
Whenever i turn on the player it takes me to the Recovery Mode.
The options are
Creative Zen Touch v0.0.0
Clean Up
2 Format All
3 Reload Firmware
4 Reboot
I have tried going to Reboot, but it takes me to the same Recovery Menu.
What should I do?

I would recommend Cleanup-->Reboot as your first choice.
Cleanup is like ScanDisk on a computer. Basically, it scans your Zen's dri've and removes disk errors that can interfere with proper operation.
Next option would be Format-->Reboot. This is more drastic and you will lose all content on your Zen. Not such a problem if you've backed all your files up, but it will take some time to get your Zen organized like it was before.
Last resort is Reload Firmware. This is like reinstalling your computer's Operating System. It can be risky if your computer has trouble recognizing your Zen, as unless your Zen is recognized, you can't complete the Reload Firmware step and you can be left with an expensi've paperweight.

I have a 20GB Zen Touch and randomly it just changes the mode to 'shuffle' without pressing the key and I lose my playlist, its reallly annoying :robotsad:
It was bought in 2005, end of March or begining of April.
Can I still send it back to Creative for it to be fixed or is there a thing I can do?
Been happening for ages.
I think I can send it back, right? Because my friend had an original black and white iPod (he bought it like 2 months after release) , send it back coz the wheel broke and he got a new one or a Video one

The firmware was successful. I just tried docking the player again. This time the computer didn't recognize the player. It seems to vary. Sometimes a message will open "Creative Zen Connected" or something like that.
But this time, nothing happened. I Opened WMP and it said "No player connected"? even though the player said "Docked" I have tried opening the player to view the files - which is an option that Vista gives when it does recognize the player - and waited about 5 minutes while it tried to open the files? - then it stopped responding. This has also happened with Real Player. If I try to sync, transfer or view the files - the program will stop responding.
