MY SONGS ARE ALL GONE!!! i was updating my ipod with new songs and when itunes came up it asked me whether i wanted to update my ipod with songs that are in my library. i clicked ok (cuz im an idiot) and then it said updating ipod. when i disconected my ipod, i only had 7 songs (where i had 400 before). i dont have that music on my cpu anymore cuz i restored it recently. is there any way i can get my music back, thru the ipod or my cpu?!?!
p.s this is probably the worst question ever...

Hello, I have been trying to fix this for a while now and I just can't figure it out ! My music got deleted some how and now there is no mp3 files on my comp. Could any one tell me how to copy the music from my ipod to my comp again ???

If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes 7 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

Music got deleted

I have purchased some music in the past few weeks, and just today, I found out that most of the music I purchased, and some music that i bought on my iphone did not show up on "Available to download" category. I had to reset my iphone for technical reasons, and after i got everything back except for the music, and the music i had purchased that already was in my library, got deleted too. I have tried everything. I have to search it, and i tried to download itunes on my parents computer and it still wouldn't download. I don't know what to do. Any help? Please.

You get one download only.
It is your responsibility to make sure that everything you purchase on iphone/ipod/ipad is transferred to your computer and is included with your regular backup of your computer.
You can try contacting itunes support and asking for an exception, but they are under no obligation to provide one.

Yeah so basically i opened my itunes one day and it gave me an error message and i looked up instructions on how to fix it, and it said to delete itunes and then re-download it (i've done this a couple times before and it worked just fine) and then for some reason, it deleted everything. I can't find it anywhere, and i don't know how to get it back. I've spent a lot on music and idk how to get at least my purchases back. anyone know how?

Today was the first time I plugged my iPod into my macbook since updating to iTunes 11 (huge mistake). I added a few albums to it, then ejected.
After ejecting, I look at it, and where is music? Nowhere to be seen. All of it, GONE. 86gb of music, most of which I can't get back since I just moved to a new country and all my albums are back home.
Now, the weird thing is, the iPod says there's 86gb of files in it, but in Other. What the **** happened?

So are you saying that the music already on your iPod was not in your iTunes Library - that you have deleted that music from the Library and then allowed your iPod to Sync with a Library that only has the new added music?
If so, I don't think there is anything you can do until you have access to the albums at home.
The idea of iTunes is that you put all your music into the iTunes Library and then allow a Sync of the iPod with your iTunes to make a copy of what is in iTunes. If you make a change to the Library, a subsequent Sync will synchronise (copy those changes) onto your iPod.

I kept on getting a message that said I needed to update my Itunes, but I didn't update for a while and one day I unplugged my ipod and all of my songs on it were gone but they are all still on Itunes. So then I updated my Itunes and Ipod like it said and now it says that it can't update songs onto my ipod because "all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist." I can't tell from your post what you have and what you don't have. Are you saying the files are no longer on your computer, no longer on your iPod, or both?

By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time. Any attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first erased from your phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature and cannot be overridden. Because you are using a new computer, your phone will see this computer as a "new" computer. The itunes content sync is one way: computer to phone. If you have photos that were synced to your phone or music ripped on your own that were not backed up, you will first have to extract them from your phone using third party software, before you do anything else, as Apple makes no provision to do so:

Once you've done that, do the following in the order specified:
1. Disable auto sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected under iTunes>Preferences(under the edit menu if using Windows)>Devices in itunes.
2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in the supported applications(Address Book & iCal or Outlook, Windows Address Book) on your computer. These entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
3. Connect your phone, iTunes running, DO NOT SYNC at this point.
4. Store>Authorize this computer.
5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on your phone will be in your itunes library).
6. Right click in the device pane & select reset warnings.
7. Right click again and select backup.
8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding your contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
You should be good to go.

Would my music in the iPod got deleted in this situation?

I have my iPod automatically updated with iTunes. But now my computer has the window reinstalled, all my music in the computer hard disk is gone and so as the iTunes program. The iTunes that I install now of course has no song library or any song in it. If I plug the iPod in now, would my music in iPod got deleted as it syncs with iTunes? Or would the playlist in iPod be blanked but still the music is in the iPod and I can retrieve them. What should I do?

Of course I would love to transfer my iPod music back to the iTunes library. But most importantly, I would like to know would my iPod, being synced with iTunes before I reinstall the Windows, lose all the songs in the iPod when I plug the iPod into the computer?

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

It has always beenv ery basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion. Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If you have failed to backup, then you can redownload some content. Open itunes store, click Purchased, under Quick Links

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the entry for the broken track from your iTunes library, close and then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your track there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

After I restored my iPhone, all my apps got deleted. What now?

Earlier today, I connected my iPhone to iTunes via USB and was prompted to restore my iPhone before I could disconnect. So I proceeded and after the process was finished, I retrieved my music and photo files from the back-up. _**Now to get to my point:**_ after I restored the iPhone, all of my applications got deleted, including the one I purchased. Is there any way I can retrieve them back, or do I have to install each one manually? What about the ones I bought? Is there any way I can get those back without having to buy it again?

The backup does not include any iTunes content - music, podcasts, video, or 3rd party apps. All iTunes content including 3rd party apps should be in your iTunes library on your computer. After downloading/installing an app with your iPhone, the app should be transferred to your iTunes library on your computer the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so.
You can re-download an app with iTunes on your computer and you won't be charged again for a purchased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the app that was used to purchase the app originally.

Specifically:
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
