My music video looks like ****

hello...i've made a couple of music videos, and the latest one i did on Final Cut Pro HD, and it looks great..when viewed on my Imac screen.. when i burned it to dvd and stuck it on the TV however, it looked like ****. bleedy colours, dodgy frame rate, stuttery looking... whats wrong? anyone else had this problem? i dont know what could be the matter really.. it looks like an episode of trisha

cheers for the reply.. im beginnin to see the advantages of a second another monitor for this kinda thing.
i used idvd, as its the only thing i have to do it with..i'd usually capture the finished project to DV then watch it on tv, but i didnt have a tape deck this time, so i had to go straight to DVD... it looks fine in a low res box online, but not on a tv! anyway, it looks awful..all the fluid motion has gone, it looks like it was filmed on a bog standard video camera - it was done on a Sony DCR-PDX10P, which is what i shot this on: http://youtube.com/watch?v=9lcFNbA6VGY and it looks fine! the only thing i did differently was not putting it on DV then on DVD....

remove them in Safe Mode with >>Driver Fusion<<
then reboot to normal mode and install MSI VGA drivers for your card:

during installation select custom install and checkmark "clean install"
Looked like stable. Played 3 WOT games in a row without any problems (before it would crash in the second game). In the 4th game it blued screen and said "Clock Watchdog Timeout"

  • Burned DVD video looks like jerky-  This did not happen before!

    Hi all,
I have used I DVD before with great results! I have done several DVD's and each of them have looked great and smooth. I am using an HD camera and sharing to Itunes in the high resolution setting. The movie when played on my apple tv looks smooth and great. When the same video is burned to the DVD it looks like some of the frames are missing. While it looks clear it looks jerky like something you would see on the internet or an old home movie. Any help would be appreciated as I have tried to change the setting but cant seem to find what is wrong. I am not sure if some upgrade has hurt performance, is anyone experiencing this same issue. The slide show looks great and plays smooth with music. I created the slide show in Imovie08 and copied it into the DVD that way because when I tried to use the slide show option in IDVD the music kept skipping and cutting out.
    Thanks for your help!

I will try to answer both request in one post. First the video did not really look like the tracking was off generally this makes lines in the video. I was more like an old time movie only not that bad where it may have been missing some frames but the picture looked good just choppy.
What I did first was share to the media browser a "large movie" from Imovie08 then import into IDVD- that did not work choppy- about 1.05gb for 38 min of video
Next I shared to Itunes from Imovie08 same as above result the same-(guess it would be since the same movie format just in a different place. Since it worked before guessed I would give it a try. I tried this option several times on several settings. While the movie played fine in Itunes it did not when burned and played on the DVD.
Someone had a post about quicktime upgrade being a problem so I thought. . .and then
Next I exported a large .MOV file it came to 8.07GB for the same 38 min of video above. This I put into the movie file then pulled it into IDVD and burned the video and IT WORKED!!! no choppy video!
Now should I have to do this every time NO. This should be fixed as it must be with the way IDVD is reading these files.
PLEASE let me know if you have any thoughts on the fix. I did remove peridan too and that did not work. I would like not to have to create such large files to make this work.
    Thanks

  • How do i make my Video look like a dream.

Hi, I was doing a cartoon video thing. And There should be this person Dreaming about stuff. Usually in Tv shows, Dreams are Black and While + a smooshy black frame thing. I know how to do the Ones where i make a frame that looks like a box. But it looks sorta ugly. Is there anyway I can make it look cloudy sorta thing? Thanks

a little use of the *Soft Focus* filter goes a long way in a dream sequence
or a bit of diffusion will do much the same thing ... layer a second copy of the "Dream" clip on the track above the first, then add some *Gaussian Blur* to that upper copy then adjust the clip's opacity, bringing it down to about 30%, finally right click that upper clip and change the Composite Mode to Screen ... play around with the blur amount, the opacity and the composite mode settings until you hit on a look you like

  • Parts of my video looks like some of the objects have movement where there shouldn't be any. Any clue what's going on?

I am using Final Cut Pro X. I shot a video recently and in many of the scenes, it looked like there was "movement" on the screen but nothing in the shot was moving. It made it look a bit blurry in areas and a little strange. Any idea if I'm messing up in my shooting settings or in exporting to Vimeo? I exported the master file to my desktop then uploaded it to Vimeo. Thanks for any help! I'd like to avoid this in the future.

Are you talking about the the moiré patterning on the guy's jacket? These guys seriously need to learn how to get ready for the camera. Nothing you can do that's any good to mitigate it, short of blurring it with a tracking mask, but then it's going to just look ugly. There's also horrible interlacing artifacts that haven't been scaled properly. What are your exact shooting specs and project properties?

  • Camera settings? The video looks like you are looking down

The video on the iPad looks like you are looking down rather than at the screen. Very irritating when using FaceTime. Is there a way to fix that?

The camera is at the top of the screen. You can see where it is. If you want your contact to see your eyes looking right at them, look into the camera and not the middle of the screen. It might also help if you hold the iPad as far away from your face as possible.
This is just physics and topology - there's no way to "fix" it. You're dealing with the same issues that TV newsfolk have to contend with for every broadcast.

  • HD to SD, My Video Looks Like Crap!

    Hello all!
So yes, I am a newbie when it comes to DVD Authoring but I need to get my feet wet with it. After looking at a basic tutorial I took a stab. Threw up a template, linked the main movie to a button and set it to return to menu when it was done. The footage was from a Canon T2i (or 550D as it is known as well) at 1920 x1080 and I wanted to burn standard DVDs. Well, it worked, but the quality was not so good. It's just under 26 minutes long, the quality is very so-so, not at all crisp, and really my real test is to see how the text looks. (Spoiler: Not with smooth lines!)
So, what can I do to make my video have a high quality? I exported an MP4 h264 video as the final output and used that to make the DVD. I did 2 versions, playing with the settings and still ended up with less than stellar quality.
I am now attempting a third disc, this time using Adobe Dynamic Link. I am pretty sure I left it at default and didn't change any settings, so we shall see how it comes out, but is there any rule of thumb getting DSLR HD footage down to SD? I have been reading the forums and that's where I got the dynamic link idea.
What's interesting is I used the program ConvertXtoDVD and came out with a nice looking end product, but I did not care for the templates and did it with no menu. I would like to do it with Encore where I can learn to make more custom menus. Any help will be greatly appreciated, and I will report on how the Dynamic Link copy looks.

Here are the recommended workflows for creating DVD from AVCHD/HD (1080i) clips.
    Workflow 1:
    1. Create a AVCHD 1080i30 (60i) sequence in PR
    2. Export to MPEG-2 DVD using "Match Source Attributes (High Quality)" preset and make sure that "Use Maximum Render Quality" is checked in Export Settings.
    3. Import the files into Encore and build to DVD
    Workflow 2:
    1. Create a AVCHD (1080i) sequence in PR
    2. File->Adobe Dynamic Link->Send to Encore
    3. In Encore, File->Transcode Settings, choose NTSC DV High Quality 8Mb CBR 1 Pass (or) NTSC DV High Quality 7Mb VBR 2 Pass preset and make sure that "Use Maximum Render Quality" is checked.
    4. Build to DVD
When you select the preset encoder settings in En/Pr, you have to check the box that says, "Use Maximum Render Quality". If you don't, then you get the interlacing artifacts, soft output. Maximum Render Quality slows transcoding substantially, and requires much available RAM.

  • Is there a video effect to make video look like it was shot at 24p?

I am using PE 10. Maybe a plugin of some kind? Thanks for your help.

If you are hoping for a "film look," there is much more to it, than just the 24p. This is a good tutorial on what is involved: http://www.learningdslrvideo.com/film-look-dslr-video/
A true film look does start with 24p, but goes into lighting, lens selections, etc. as well.
As for converting, say 30i to 24p, I do not know of any plug-in that will do a good job, but there might be some good ones out there.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Music Video quality is poor - Apple TV

Does anyone know why the music videos purchased in the iTunes store are not HD or a higher resolution than what they are? I have an Apple TV in my home theater room with a 106 inch screen and the videos look like I am playing a VHS tape. I don't understand how I can watch HD movies and TV shows on my ATV but Music Videos look like crap! I have about 74 music videos too!

    Viper200 wrote:
Newer music videos are all shot in HD.  This is apparent when you go to youtube/vevo and watch the music vids in 720/1080p.
You can of course, use any number of Firefox addons to download the HD music videos off youtube/vevo and then use a pass-thru/remuxer like iVi (available on app store) or Remux to rewrite the headers of the videos to make them idevice/ATV compatible without recompression.
BTW 1080p converted youtube vids look GORGEOUS on the new ATV/ipad3!
    That annoys me so much.
When I didn't have the means, I could still watch music videos in HD for freebs per your description. Now I'm able to buy them (and I want to), but as far as I can see the legit source is rubbish.
Am I missing something or is this one of those ineffable Apple things that I have to come to terms with if I'm going to join the herd?

  • Music Video does not playback it looks like a white negative!!

Please please help...I have downloaded itunes7 and now I cant watch any of my new or old music video's...the music plays but the video looks like a white negative...you can make out the faint outline of people and things moving but nothing else??????????????
      Windows XP

I read a solution somewhere that worked for this music video problem, that was before i gave up on my music skipping and reverted back to i-Tunes 6 (so music no longer scratching but videos not working without delay/skipping.)
Anyway the solution was, Quit i-Tunes, select start menu -> control panels -> quick time. Click on advanced tab, uncheck box next to enable direct 3D video acceleraion and then open i-Tunes
    Hope that helps you

  • What does Apple site use to compress the videos to make it look like DVD?

What compression program do they use for videos on apples site to compress these videos. They look crisp like DVD Quality? How and what kind of settings do they use?
My videos look like crap after being compressed and even crappier once uploaded on YouTube.
I used H.264 800Kbps Streaming in Compressor 3 to compress.
    Camera used: Canon XL2 with 16:9, 24p.
NLE's used: FCP or Avid MC3.
Guys, how can I make my videos look as good as DVD while keeping the size low.
How should I set my properties?
Is their a tutorial on the web?
    Someone please help!
    Thanks,
    Zia

  • Music Videos won't load

I have tried several times to get the music videos in my music video playlist to load onto my iPod, but it's not working. The videos look like they're in the right format and I think I have the right settings in iTunes. Thanks!

Thanks Jeff! That would explain why it's not working. Drat!

  • How do I get my ipad2 to play the music videos as video during playback in music similar to my iPod?

I would like to play back all my music and music videos together like on my iPod, but when I play the music videos from the music app, they only display a thumbnail picture when the video is playing. I like to mix up my audio only songs with my music video songs. Do I need a separate app to acomplish this?

Did you check to see that shuffle is is turned off?  To do this, while playing a song tap the cover art to reveal the additional controls if they are not already visible (see photo below).  Then tap the shuffle button (bottom right) until it turns white (white is off).

  • Progressive dvcprohd footage to dvd export  - looks like youtube !

this is gonna need a compressor / dvd studio pro guru to
I have been searching the internet / forums etc etc for hours - have tried heaps of suggested settings but just cant get a good result - I am on a brand new mac pro quad core - the latest Final cut studio with all latest software updates.
my fcp timelines look beautiful - cinema desktop preview looks great.
sending to compressor from my dvcprohd ntsc progressive fc timeline - using settings under the dvd tab - mpg 2 and ac3.
    but after running through compressor:
i am getting hideous stair stepping. Any small line on the screen that crosses the horizontal at an angle (ie not flat) looks awful.
The video looks like youtube. washed out - no macro blocking - but stair stepping / herringbone is off the scale-after reviewing the dvd and raw mpg 2 files both on the monitor and on a tv.
As far as i can tell -There shouldnt be any interlacing issues because interlacing shouldnt happen - i shoot and work progressive all the way through my work flow - and all my sequences are set up as progressive at the correct frame rates.
    is this a downscaling issue?
the format is set up correctly with frame rate and progressive settings matching my source
after trying the standard best quality settings and getting youtube results:
i tried: cbr 7 mbs , (its only 42 mins of video) - from my limited research on the forums it appears that cbr at a high bit rate works better for top quality dvds than vbr 2 pass - which seems counter intuitive. please correct me if i am wrong. 2 pass vbr at similar bit rates gives me no noticeable improvement in quality.
frame controls on -resize filter better
    output fields same as source
deinterlace fast (i really dont know why this option is there as i am working prog all the way through
but i suspect compressor may be trying to deinterlace my prog footage?)
adaptive details on and off have bene tried
    100% duration relative to source.
I have been trying for 3 days to get a good result and am literally pulling my hair out. I have 8 test dvds - nothing looks right.
i suspect a bug in compressor - i have read a few posts about similar items - have tried a few suggested settings - and they havent worked. Am considering looking at another product (bit vice / sorenson) if i cant get this resolved - but maybe i am missing something simple.
i am even reading about people getting better results through IDVD... which would indicate a compressor bug- perhaps..

Try exporting from FCP timeline to selfcontained QuickTime file first, and processing this file with Compressor. Report if there is any difference, please. I am asking because I just found similar bug considering HDV 1080i50 format.
