My music will not sync to my iphone

I wanted to add an MP4 file to my phone, I've done this last week with no problem, this week once I added it and sync'd my phone over 700 of my songs disappeared and I cannot get them back on my phone, I even reset my phone from an earlier date and it still won't add them, they are on the screen showing sync all songs, the color bar at the bottom moves to show them on there but once I press sync they won't add to my phone.  Can anyone help me with this please and thanks!

iDevices are not backup devices.
Copy or move the music from the old computer to the new computer.

you can connect the iPhone to your mac and import those iPhone photos and videos to iPhoto assuming you have iPhoto. You can create a folder and export all those photos to the Finder. Keep safe somewhere.  Also keep the iPhoto library for safe keeping. When you restore your iPhone you can sync all those photos back to the iPhone. so you will lose nothing. Just remember when you export from iPhoto select jpeg for photos and original for videos taken with the iPhone.

An exclamation mark means that it doesn't know where you moved the music to.  To fix this, click on the exclamation point and when it asks you to browse to the location where you moved it to, use the normal commands to go up and down folders in your external drive until you find the song.  Repeat as necessary.

  • My music will not sync to my iPhone from iTunes. Why does it say I need more space?

My iPhone and iTunes are all synced up to date as of June 7th. I went to sync my music library. I checked to only sync my selected songs (approximately 1200). It worked fine earlier this week before I updated iTunes. I went to add another 10-20 songs today, and it didn't work. It said I need an additional 4.77 GB of data. I have 2 GB available still on my 16 GB phone, which is more than enough for the 10-20 songs. I updated iTunes after this occurred but I still have the same problem. When I check my music on my phone, no playlists show up but y music and artists are the same as before, minus the new music i added to my iTunes. On a side note, the extra space it's saying I need is about the size of the current music on my phone; it seems to be asking to sync it twice?

    Hey there 2Chainz,
It sounds like youre being prompted that there is not enough space. I would use the following article to help resolve the issue named:
iOS: "Not enough free space" alert when trying to sync
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1503
Try disconnecting and reconnecting your device, then syncing again to solve this issue.
Orphaned files may remain on your iOS device if it is physically disconnected while syncing music, podcasts, videos, or photos. This can prevent iTunes from syncing the iOS device on subsequent sync sessions. When this happens, the Capacity indicator in iTunes may report a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the iOS device. To resolve this issue:
Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 5.
Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device. To do this:
Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 6.
    Restore using iTunes.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • New music will not sync to my iPhone 4, and music that was previously synced but was added to library through a CD will not play and has a red square and is grayed out.

I use iTunes on my family iMac, my iTunes, I believe, one update below the current software any my iPhone is on iOS 7.0.3. Music purchased through iTunes syncs correctly and will play properly. Songs that I have obtained through CD's, however, are now grayed out and have a red square with a circle around it. When I click on the song, it will cycle through my library until it can play a song. iTunes will also not restore songs that I have removed from my iPhone but are in the cloud. Is there any possible way to fix this issue? Everything has been working fine until iOS 7 and the new version of iTunes. Thank you for your time!

I am so relieved to hear that I am not the only one experiencing this! However, I am sorry to hear you are going through this as well. Lucky for me I am upgrading to a 5s which will be sent to me on Wednesday. I did stumble upon an article with tips on how to downgrade back to iOS 7, but I am EXTREMELY apprehensive about doing that myself. Here's the article link if you want to give it a go:

Hey there @Robalina Welcome to the community!
I have a guide that I will post below for you, that should help you connect your printer and Zeen to your wireless network. Follow the steps and you should be wireless in no time!
If your printer and Zeen are connected to your network, the issue could be the web browser you are using to connect to the sites you wish to visit. You can also try using a different web browser.

I recently dropped my phone in the toilet (it was in my back pocket), I purchased a new iphone (3G) unlocked and have downloaded the new IOS software on my macbook pro and iphone. My music is on my iMac and I've synced my contacts, calender and aps but my ringtones and music will not sync for some reason... I am not sure why... Can someone help me with this? • ITunes 11.1.5 will not sync to my iPhone 5

    Hello,
My music will not update on my iPhone. It always looks like it is, but it isn't. For example, I added a playlist and I can't get it on my iPhone, but when I click the "on this iPhone" button it looks like it IS on my phone, but it isn't. I've tried the following (some more than once) and rebooted my phone after each attempt:
    - Unchecking the box to sync all my music to wipe it all off, then re-checking the box and re-syncing it. That didn't work.
    - Deleting all the music off my phone through the settings>usage menu. Re-syncing it to add music back. That didn't work.
    - Dragging the playlist to the iPhone device. Again, it shows like it's there on iTunes but it's not.
The best part is that when I sync my phone, it keeps getting stuck on step 4 most of the time.
    What am I missing?
Running OS X 10.8.5 on MacBook Air.

Purchase the Snow Leopard install DVD from Apple to install 10.6
After that uodate to 10.6.8 using Software Update

  • I have songs in my iTunes library that I burned from CD's. They play in iTunes and will sync with my iPad. They play fine on the iPad.  However, the songs will not sync to my iPhone 4S.  There are now exclamation points next to songs (can't find source).

I burned cd's in iTunes. The songs were able to sync and play on my iPad. After this, exclamation points appeared in iTunes on my laptop (unable to find source).  They still play in iTunes but will not sync with my iPhone 4S.  Do some cd's have a limit on the number of times you can copy them or is this an iTunes problem.

KiwiLouisa - I had the same problem.  I was eventually able to distribute my content that was "Not eligible for iCloud" to my iPhone by switching off ITunes Match in both the ITunes app/machine that hosts my library (my Macbook Pro, in this case) as well as on the device to which I wished to distribute my content (my iPhone 6+).  This opened up the option for my device iTunes Music settings for selecting "Entire Music Library".
After I successfully transferred *ALL* my music and music videos via iTunes sync, I then again switched on ITunes Match in iTunes on my Macbook and on my iPhone.
This does not change the iCloud status, but at least I have the content on my iPhone.

  • I made a playlist in iTunes, but it will not sync with my iPhone, why?

I made a playlist in iTunes, but it will not sync with my iPhone when I connect it to iTunes and select sync, why?  On the music tab, I have selected, import all songs.

Okay, but being "checked and highlighted" does not cause media to sync.
Do you manually manage the content on the device or use the sync feature as designed?
If manually managing the content, can you "drag and drop" the media onto the device?
If syncing, go to the Movies (or video) tab and select the video there, then sync.
    Does it work now?

  • Sync Music will not sync voice memos.  Why?

When I check "include voice memos" in Sync Music, and sync music, Voice Memos do not move into iTunes.
Memo is 33 minutes but that does not really seem, to me, to be an issue.  A search does not find it nor is there a Voice Memo Folder created in iTunes
    Ideas?  Solutions?
    Thanks

I didn't start this thread, but have the same question. I recently updated my iTunes and tried to sync and backup my iPhone so I can update to iOS7. Only, my music is not syncing from my iPhone to iTunes. Some of this music I have had for a couple of years and no longer have the CD for (I have teenagers...CDs damaged or missing). Out of 104 songs, only 3 are showing up. Any ideas?

  • My music will not sync to my ipod it only says revert and I cant open up music i purchased on itunes. I started having this problem when I updated my ipod

My music will not sync to my ipod it only says revert and I cant open or play music i purchase on itunes. This problem occured when i updated my ipod.
    Thanks

I also have a 4G ipod touch and a similar problem. Since I updated to the ios5 software any new songs I add to my iTunes don't sync to my ipod main playlist. They show up in the 'recently added' playlist, but not in the main 'songs' section. I fixed the problem once by restoring to factory settings and rather than reinstalling from a backup, I created a new ipod name and synced everything onto my ipod as if it was new.
This worked until the next new song I added and then the same problem started all over again. If you do reinstall everything as new, you may want to take a screen shot of where all your apps are and make sure all your photos etc are saved, as everything will be from scratch. Hope this helps!
