My music won't play on my iPhone!!

My Music just will not sync with my iPhone. A week or 2 ago I was make storage space and temporarily unselected the sync music library option. Then for some reason a lot of my document and data storage data was missing. from then on whenever I try to sync my entire music library iTunes says it has but the music is not on my phone (expect for some selected playlists and any purchased music from the iTunes store). When I click to see what is on my phone it shows all my music but it is greyed out and has this dotted circle on the left of each song. Someone please Help!!

I am having the same problem. I have songs in my Library that wont sync to my iPhone even though they show up as in my iPhone. They just have the explaination piont next to them when I try and play them on itunes through my iPhone. When I play them through my library they work fine. Getting slightly frustrated now.

  • HT1386 Some of my music won't play on my iPhone

Shortly after upgrading to the latest OS (7.0.2), I've noticed some of my music won't play on my iPhone.  I can see the songs but they have a red circle with a square inside it next to them and I can't do anything with them.  I have plenty of space and there's not "downloading from the iCloud" option.
Problem 2...some other people are having this problem and recommend wiping the music off my phone and re-syncing via iTunes but when I plug my phone in (or sync via wi-fi, either one) to sync, it hangs up on "waiting for changes to apply" and never wipes the music.  I've looked around at other complaints about this issue and none of the recommended "fixes" work.
I assume this is going to require an OS patch of some sort.  What's the ETA on this and is there a way to get around it now?

I have this problem too but all the songs that wont play arent downloaded from the itunes store theyre from another site

  • My music won't play on my iphone 4S

I was able to play music within the last week, but no longer.  I have the default player and another player.  The default player launches and quits.  The other player launches, but has nothing to display or play.
    Steps I've tried so far:
    I've rebooted.
I've added new songs (which via  itunes shows up as on the phone).
I've stopped syncing music, and re-synced all the music from itunes.
    Nothing makes a difference.

    As in power OFF/ON?
Have you tried a Reset? (press and hold Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple logo then release).
You can also connect to iTunes and:
Right-click on iPhone name and select "Restore from backup", which does not erase any data other than re-load your last backup, or
Select Restore, which will erase your iPhone and re-load the OS.  At the end you can re-load your last backup to save you from having to re-do all the settings and preferences, and you don't lose app data, texts, camera roll, etc.
As above, Restore but don't load your last backup.  This will erase everything and you'll set it up as a new iPhone, which means re-doing all your settings and preferences, and losing app data, contacts*, etc.
*Contacts can be restored if you're using Exchange, or if your computer contacts are up to date, or if you use a 3rd party app to extract your contacts from your iPhone before you Restore.
One of those will fix your issue, but only do the last one if the others don't help.

  • A while ago I wanted to download/buy an album on my iPhone 4 but I didnt have enough space so I deleted some stuff and downloaded the album. well ever since then my other music won't play, only that one album will play and none of my other music will play

a while ago I wanted to buy an album but I didn't have enough space on my phone, (iPhone 4) so I deleted some things off my phone and downloaded the album. well ever since then all my other music won't play, only that one album will play. I thought it was because I havent been able to get the software update on my phone but I don't have enough space for that either. I deleted almost all my photos, all my apps, i deleted almost all the info that is on the apps that you can't delete, but it says I have too much music and I only have 45 songs!!!!!!!! and I don't want to delete them because that's what I'm trying to listen to but I can't because of whatever reason. PLEASE HELP!!

1, you can't at the moment, though with iOS 5 in the Autumn, from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos :
Even organize your photos in albums — right on your device
2, by removing it from you synced from and re-syncing. Only photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad (either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view)
3, the location of the photos that you synced to the iPad should be listed on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes.
4, you can copy the photos from your iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You should also be able to delete them from the iPad as part of the transfer process to your computer, and it's then your choice whether to add them to your sync photo list so as to copy them back to the iPad. Copying them to your computer would allow you to organise them into folders and therefore be able to sync them back into separate albums.
5, I don't use Dropbox either. There are some third-party browser apps in the iTunes App Store that allow you to download pages so that you can view them when offline e.g. Atomic Web (the whole page is saved within Atomic Web, it doesn't place a photo into the Photos app)
6, deleting content should help. If you remove an app from your iPad then you also remove the content that it's got on the iPad - so if you then decide to reinstall it back onto the iPad then you will need to manually add back any content that you want in it. None of the Apple built-in apps (including Photos) can be removed from the iPad

  • My music won't play out loud on my iPhone 4S ?

My music won't play out loud on my iPhone 4S ?

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack or bad speaker or other hardware problem..
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

  • Upgraded to 2.0, now music won't play

Just upgraded my non-3G iPhone to 2.0. Two main issues:
1.) Purchased music no longer plays on my iPhone. All other songs (from CD, etc.) play fine, all other noise gets through, but purchased tracks will not play.
2.) Pandora app doesn't seem to want to start up. It installs, and when I activate, the startup window for Pandora shows up and then the app closes without any chance to input anything.
    Any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem including movies that won't play. It'll play movies I created but nothing I've purchased. I'm on hold right now with iPhone support at 1 hour and counting...

Some songs that I've bought on iTunes won't play on my iPhone 3GS even though they used to and they will still play on iTunes.  Anyone know what I can do to get these songs to play on my iPhone again?  Please help!

No, I haven't figured it out.  And no one from Apple has contacted me to help.  Very frustrating.  Sure makes me want to not buy music on iTunes and just buy CD's.
Do you have a 3GS too?  Maybe it's something with that phone??

  • I just downloaded ISO6 and now my music won't play. How can I fix this?

I just downloaded ISO6 and now my music won't play. How can I fix this?

    Hi Jackson,
Since you have already done a restore of your iPhone, I would suggest that you now try restoring your iPhone to factory settings, set it up again and test before you restore your content. This article describes the process -
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Note - It is important that you follow this stop:
Use iTunes to back up your device and transfer and sync any additional content to your computer.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • Menu music won't play iin Center Stage theme?

I'm trying to use this theme, but whenever I add any music to the menu, the music won't play. Any idea what's wrong and how to fix it other than to change themes?

That's the default behavior in the Control Center.

  • I reauthorized my computer but my music won't play.

I didn't realize the prior computer--long since traded in towards a new one, the laptop I'm currently using--hadn't been deauthorized.  I did that and then reauthorized current one but my music won't play.  I checked my account and it has been updated and confirms the new laptop is authorized now.  What gives?

    Hi, BartleyBauer.
If the media that you are attempting to sync plays in iTunes, try removing the preference to sync music as this remove the media from the device.  Once this is done, try syncing the media again.

  • One album won't play on my iPhone 4S

One album won't play on my iPhone 4S running iOS 7.0.3. If select a song and click Play it flashes through the whole album with the play/pause button switching back and forth between play and pause - as though it played the whole album but all the songs were zero length.
I deleted all the songs in the album then re-synced from iTunes - same problem.
The tracks are Apple Lossless (ALAC) as are most of my tracks.
They were ripped from CD as FLAC and converted to ALAC using XLD - the same as with many of my CDs all of which play fine.
All the tracks on the album play OK in iTunes and if I connect my phone to PhoneView I can play the files on the phone so the music files themselves are OK.
Also, most importantly, these tracks used to play fine
Looking at the music file dates in the iTunes library they were imported in August this year so would have been under iOS6. I can't remember when they stopped playing (I tend to use Shuffle most of the time) but could it be related to the iOS7 u/g, even though it doesn't seem to affect any other album?
I've found quite a few threads about non-playing music but none of them are exactly this problem.

I have this issue as well and I am already on iOS 7.0.4.
Appears to be only on the apple lossless tracks added mid november via Itunes sync.
    Please help.
I too u/g to 7.0.4 but the problem persisted. I even did a factory reset and restore of my iPhone without success.
I then grabbed a copy of Max and re-converted the FLACs, deleted the album from iTunes and my phone, re-imported the new ALACs et voilà problem solved.
So it seems that it was something to do with the version of XLD I used and playing the resulting ALACs on iOS7 (although the album definitely played a couple of times under iOS6).
The only reason I rip to FLAC then convert to ALAC is that the rMBP doesn't have an optical drive and the only one I have is in a Linux box but I don't think there are any Linux rippers that rip to ALAC.
If Max had failed, the last resort would have been to try and borrow a USB optical drive and rip with iTunes.

  • Music won't play unless connected to power source/charging

Music will not play on my iPhone 4S unless connected to sync cord and the sync cord must be charging.  The battery is full.  I had an issue before with the music starting/stopping sporadically  and the iPhone not recognizing when headphones were plugged in.  That seemed to resolve itself once I updated the software.  Now this....  If I disconnect from sync cord/power supply, the play button on the screen gets glitchy and the music stops.

    This sequence works:
turn on the power source (e.g. Logitech portable speakers)
power on and connect iPhone to power source via 30-pin to Lightning adapter
    connect the earphones
    start Pandora

My ipod classic 160GB won't play my music there is sound coming from it but the music won't play and it skips songs as well does anyone now how to fix that?

Have you checked if your Earphones are working?
Do you get the Music menu after the reset? (what is display on the Screen? song playing)
Normally if you Reset the iPod, it will turn the shuffle mode off, but do check under setting that shuffle mode is off.

An exclamation mark means that it doesn't know where you moved the music to.  To fix this, click on the exclamation point and when it asks you to browse to the location where you moved it to, use the normal commands to go up and down folders in your external drive until you find the song.  Repeat as necessary.
