My music wont show up under the artist?

Ok i downloaded my music and under songs ,the song/s show up but then when i go under the artist its not there.
what do i do?

Manually synced music not showing up under the artist

When I manually add songs to my iphone 4 from my iTunes library they are not showing up on my phone under when I go to the artist. Oddly, when I search for the song title the song will come up and it plays, and it shows the artist name correctly when it is playing. I updated both iTunes and the phone. I've done a reset. I've deleted the songs in question from the phone and then re-added them, only to have the same problem.
This problem doesn't happen with every song I add, but it always happens to the same songs. When I sync the phone, I can find them in the phone window of iTunes and they're there correctly sorted by artist (and play fine)! These songs are CD imports (not iTunes purchases). I have "manually manage music" on, and iCoud is off.

Are they marked as 'Part of a compilation' when you look at the song info on iTunes? This is quite common in some albums like soundtracks. If yes, then you'll probably find them under 'Various Artists' in the Artist section.
You can uncheck the compilation box if you wish, that should do the trick.

If you mean finding your IP address you have to enter the router's settings via a web browser. and go to the Status page. It will likely be under the heading Internet Port. Then you can Google for:
who owns XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
where the x's is the IP address.

Safari Wont show up under the Browsers Setting

Safari will not show up under the browsers tab. I tried Reinstalling Safari and it did not work, I also tried to Install iCloud over the fresh install and that didnt work either. What can I do to fix this. I need my reading list.

Songs are on my iPod, but don't show up under the "Artist" heading

My problem is that all my music DOES import onto my iPod and work, but some songs do not appear in the "Artist" catagory. I can find the songs by looking through the "Album" catagory, but it doesn't work in Artist. Also, they cannot be found via the "Search" option. All the song data are correctly tagged and are correctly imported and such. The "Search" option works for other songs however.
If it will help, the artists are Green Day and Bryan Adams.
Also, some of my songs have album art downloaded for them, the majority come up on my iPod fine, except a certain few which just display as pitch black.
Any ideas?

There are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song is incorrectly marked as part of a compilation (and you have Compilations enabled on the iPod) or 2) the song has no album name associated with it.
if the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. If you are using iTunes 8, in the the multiple items info box the compilations setting is in the "Options" tab. Setting "Compilations" on your iPod main menu prevents you getting lots of single artist entries when you load an album by various artists.
Also if the tracks are missing an Album name in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances (for instance I read somewhere that if you have at least two tracks with different album names the rest will appear), however the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous to all the blanks in place of a title. I have 3gs and some albums are not showing up under the artist, but if I search for them I can find them. Any ideas how to fix?

I have the 3gs and the new ios 5. I have just uploaded a new album by a band. I went to the music player and clicked on the bands name. It added the new album but the bands third album is missing. I thought it strange so I searched my iPhone and it comes up in the search bar when I type it in. Then I go back to the music player and its not there under artist. I can scroll and find specific songs on there so I know it's there but somehow it has dissapered on the artist heading. I've reset the phone and still nothing. Any ideas as to how I can fix this?

So I figured it out. If anyone else has the same problem, iTunes changed it into a compilation album and for some reason that messed it up. Just go to info under each song on that album and click part of a compilation.

In the artists tab, for example, when opening John Mayer, the songs that appear are the ones from Coldplay. Since iOS 8, many bugs make it hard to use the iPad, AirPlay is gone, even the keyboard lags when you are typing.

I had the same problem. Everything was OK before iOS8 upgrade. I am seeing this behavior on my iPhone, iPad and iPod. This is along with a bunch of other software issues related to iOS 8.

Why is an artist not showing in under the Artists tab on my ipod yet I can choose individual songs on the Songs tab

I would like to listen to my entire Alice in Chains playlist. When I go to the Artists tab to find them, Alice in Chains does not appear. However, if I look for a specific song by them using the Songs tab, I can find each song individually. I am not sure of this is happening with other artists as well, this is the only one I have noticed so far. Not having the search function on this new ipod model is a huge detriment to its functionality, otherwise I could have just searched for Alice in Chains to find their playlist.
As a note: I believe it is something to do with the ipod itself because I have the same songs synched to my Gen 5 ipod and I have no problem pulling Alice in Chains up as an Artist.

Music not showing up under artsit

I have music on my ipod that does not all show up under the artists name. so in other words, if i go to the artist to listen to all their music i cant. because some of the albums are not there. in order to listen to certain albums, i then have to search for the album individualy to listen to it. all the information is correct regarding the data for the songs beacuse its all likened corretcly in itunes, just not transferring to my ipod correctly.

I have the same issues, when I let itunes find my music, i get dupes.... I have posted a question similar to yours. No one has answered my question, and yours is back in april. I think this fourm is usless due the the fact of how many people has the solution for these issues. Apple doesn't help either.

My ipod 80 gig is not showing an artist on my artist list but if you go under albums its there.... any ideas why

Two things often contribute to this.
One is that some songs might be tagged as Part Of A Compilation (see the Get Info on those songs/albums) in which case they will not show up under the artist.
Second, is that an artist needs at least two different Albums identified for their songs to all list under the artist. In other words, if you import a CD with album name then add a handful of misc songs without album names associated, those handful will not show up under the artist name.
But add an album name to at least one of those handful of misc. songs and then ALL of the songs should show up under the artist.
You don't have to do it for all of them, just enough to have two different albums identified with the artist. But in general, it is a good idea to make sure your tunes have Song name, artist name, and album name associated with them as a minimum.

Removing the 'music note' - Can i control what album cover is displayed as the cover album under the artists tab in the Music app?

Ive searched for the longest and havent found a solution to removing the 'music note' . For example, i might have 10 albums under a particular artist, 1 of which i have no cover art for and it seems that thats the album chose to display. No matter the year or particular order the album falls in under the artist. Most artists that have a missing album cover dont show it but the ones that do still annoy me. I know im not the first to ask this so what can be done? Help me out
P.s. this is an issue ive had since the ipad 2 as the music app hasnt changed. Im running the latest software (5.1)

Its not the cover art itself, I know how to ADD album art.. Some albums just dont have cover art for whatever reason - problem is, that these albums are randomly chosen as the first album cover of an artist in the music library on my ipad. For example, i have a local artist album with no cover - he has 4 albums but the one thats diplayed at their name is of course the music note indicating theres no album artwork.
So why the **** does it choose the ONE album with no artwork and is there a way i can designate which album i want displayed for a particular artist?

In iTunes a bunch of songs show up under the wrong artist no matter what I do

My iTunes library has an odd glitch - there's a bunch of songs that show up under the group "a-ha" despite having nothing to do with a-ha. They don't seem to have anything else in common, either. None of them has an album artist listed and they are all stored the same way on my hard drive (in a folder for the artist and sub-folder for the album). Everything shows up correctly on my iPod, but nothing I can do puts them under the correct artist in iTunes on my desktop. So for example, iTunes doesn't show The Big Bopper as an artist but if I go into Artist: a-ha I find "Hello Baby" as an album and Chantilly Lace is in it. But when I click on info for that track it shows The Big Bopper as the artist, no mention of a-ha in any field I can find. Does anyone have a clue what this is about? I've tried adding the mis-filed artists' folders to the library again but noithing changes.

I bought an audiobook, but it wont show up in the audiobook section in the music app. When I go to the book in the search in ITunes, it says it is downloaded...but does not show up in the audiobooks section in my music app

If you pull down the centre of the iPad's homescreen (not from right at the top of the screen as that will open notifications) to open the search field, if you type in the name of the audiobook or the name of the author does that find it ?

Songs dont appear under the artist name on the ipod....

When i put a song on itunes, it appears under the artist and the song name but when i look for it on my iPod under the artist name, it doesnt show up. Where is the song?

I went to that link but it doesnt seem to help. In itunes I have made sure that the song title, album and artist name are already in there with the correct spelling etc. In itunes all the info is there. When I look for the artist in my ipod it doesn't show up. I can find the album and the individual songs but the artist is not there.
Also...Songs in my itunes have all been organized and did the "get info" thing but some of the same artist appear several times on my ipod. I made sure everything is spelled correctly and the same for the same artist name, I have done resets and restore on the ipod, I deleted all the music out of itunes and then reinstalled it but I am still having the problem with certain artists...not all of them just randomly some. And it is continuing to happen with some new mp3s I am adding. What is going on with that???
Any help would be greatly appreciated...I have only had my ipod 3 weeks!!! If there is something wrong with it I want to return it and get a new one or is it user error?
