My musical keyboard sounds weird

Hello All
Please could somebody help me in this issue ..?I used to record my keybord sounds in old version by selecting no effects,sound was perfect but in new vesion my keyboard sounds very dull like mono. I connected my keyboard exactly the same way as I used to connect to old version through jack lead.Please help me how to record or connect keyboard to new garageband.Thanks in advance.

Im gonna make an “Ó”, If I put my finger in the “O” the symbols appear so if I slide my finger on the line where the “O” is I mean “QWERTYUIOP” it works perfectly but if I slide it on the down line I mean “ASDFGHJKL” it doesn’t work. I’ll really appreciate if you try what I’m saying and tell my if the same happens to you.

I have the same problem. My music sounds like digital techno that I can,t understand, like all the real music is converted to some alien language thats warped.

When I play music. it sounds like a fan is running over the speakers. It sounds rubbish. But this is only in iTunes. When I play through Quick Time it sounds absolutly fine. I am running Mountain Lion and have updated iTunes and it still happens. PLEASE HELP. This also happens in FaceTime. It is this terrible echo. I hate it PLEASE HELP

You're listening from another room?
Most likely you don't have the headphones plugged all the way in, there should be no gap between the plastic on the headset jack and the body of the Nano. If you won't go all the way in check the headphone jack on the Nano with a flashlight and clean any dust/debris/obstruction you find.

Yamaha Keyboard Sound in Garageband

I've been trying to figure this out forever but could not find out i would love and appreciate it if someone could help me.
I want my yamaha keyboard sounds to be usable in garageband and record using the instruments on my yamaha keyboard rather then the garageband instruments

As others have said, you can always record the audio out of your Yamaha into Garageband onto a real audio track, just as you'd record a guitar or mic, but you can't use your Yamaha sounds as software instrument sounds, with Garageband "playing" your Yamaha via MIDI.
More full featured music applications, like Apple's Logic would enable you to play your Yamaha like a software instrument (play synth, synth sends MIDI to computer, computer records MIDI, on playback computer sends MIDI back to synth, synth plays audio), but I doubt the hassle of setting it up would be worth it. The virtual instruments in the computer will likely sound better than the sounds that come with that particular Yamaha.

Game lockscreen keyboard sounds quit working

Just posted about my lockscreen and keyboard sounds suddenly stop working and now I have lost all game sounds. The game sounds were working only a couple of hours ago and now nothing! What do I do now?!

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. Audigy 2 zs to music keyboard hoo

okay, so i bought an audigy 2 zs a few weeks ago...plugged it in, worked great....all that...okay so i got this music keyboard, a roland phantom s88, is ther a way i can plug in the roland into the audigy using a coaxial digital or optical digital cable? cuz the keyboard has those outputs but i'm not sure if the audigy has those imputs, i know the platinum does but does the normal zs? an if it does, what cables an adapters do i need?...thanks

Are you using your sound card for high end digital recording? If so let me make a suggestion for you. The new Creative Professional line of cards by EMU are designed to work with professional equipment which means that they all have at least an Optical and Coaxial SPDIF on them. More information can be found on these cards at www.emu.com and they are listed as Digital Audio Systems.

You can record the audio output of the keyboard - i.e. its own sounds - by plugging the output to the line in of your Mac (if it has one) or to a suitable audio-USB interface.
You can use the keyboard to drive GarageBand - using GB's own sounds - by plugging the MIDI output (a round socket with five smaller sockets within it in a semicircle) into a suitable MIDI-SUB interface.
This keyboard, according to the published specs, does not have a USB connection so the problems about compatibility do not arise. (Casio keyboards with a USB connection for MIDI notoriously don't work with Macs). The incompatibility mentioned in the previous post concerns the transfer of programs and MIDI files to the keyboard rather than using the keyboard as a MIDI source.
There are a number of suitable interfaces around, such as those made by Edirol.

I am trying to connect the psre403 to the mac via usb. I downloaded the driver, and installed it, but still not recognizing the midi/usb input to the mac. I looked in the AudioMidi utility to try to set it up there, but didn't recognize the keyboard. Garageband sees 0 midi devices. I tried changing various settings on the keyboard and only succeeded in getting no sound anywhere.
Help, please, any one - 5 days to Christmas and I am trying to get this ready to go for my son!

Musical keyboard connection assistance.

Would anyone know how to receive sound from a musical keyboard, with the connection of an AUX cord? I have the required 1/8" adapter for my laptop and the aux cord for the keyboard port, yet no sound from either source. My laptop is acting as though it is connected with headphones and vice versa from my laptop.

if your laptop has only a single jack for input and output, you need to select which it is used for in System Prefs

I am using logic to record a podcast and using soundboard to use as a playback for music and sound effects. I'd like to soft patch sound board into logic, and still use my interface for recording audio from the other members of the podcast.

Thanks. Now, since Apple failed to provide an audio in jack for their new and improved iMacs (mine has one), all I can suggest is that you contact AppleCare, since you have 90-dqy free phone support. If need be, you might reconsider your purchase, but that's for you to decide.

Is it possible to add reverb to vocal mic, without affecting my keyboard sound?

I am trying to record my vocals and piano simultaneously. I'm using the MBox 2, with Adobe Audition 3.0. Whenever I add reverb to my vocal track (via the fx tab under my vocal track in multi track view), it affects the way my piano sounds while I am recording (it creates a delay on the sound of the keyboard while I am playing...almost like a 'bouncing note' delay). I really want to be able to hear some reverb on my voice while recording, but I cannot seem to figure out how to do it. This is how I have everything set up:
Piano is plugged in via DI on input 2 on the back of the mbox
vocal mic is plugged in via cannon on input 1 on back of mbox
If anybody could help, that would be wonderful. I've spent hours trying to figure this out with no luck. It is a lot more fun to record your singing with a bit of the pretty reverb....but my piano doesn't agree.

Thanks for your help again. I have spent the last 6 hours running into nothing but problems. I tried your advice about recording mono in both separate tracks, and still no luck. I was using a condenser mic, and a keyboard. Both using mono, and I was using the studio reverb. I finally decided to try something simpler, just so I could at least feel a bit satisfied in getting a recording in. I set the condenser mic near my keyboard and speakers, and plugged my keyboard into the speakers. I armed the one mic track for record for phantom power, applied studio reverb, and set up the correct settings for the track by going into Audio Hardware Setup and selecting 'Asio Digidesign Driver' as the audio driver for everything. I simply wanted to play my piano, which would sound through the monitors next to me, and sing into the microphone..which would pick up my vocals with the piano in the background. The only way I could hear reverb on my voice during the recording, was by adjusting the 'mix' knob on the front of the mbox. It seemed to be working okay, and I thought I had found at least a compromise for the moment. But after saving the files, and upon listening to them...I noticed drops and rises/glitches/ in the recording volume. I then did a bunch of tests. I recorded some without any reverb assigned at all, did some recordings with the mix knob up and some with it off...I tried everything I could think of. I saved each one as a wav file, and MP3, just to see if that would affect the sound. Listening to them, they all have those same sound glitches. While doing the recordings, the sound disturbances weren't audible.
I am wondering if there is a setting that I need to fix...I am not the most savvy technical person, and am rather new to recording. Maybe the buffer size needs to be adjusted? I really have no idea...it is frustrating. I should say that I am using an MBox 2, which is supposed to be used with Pro Tools software. I had problems using Pro Tools as well, I don't think my OS is very compatible with it. Unfortunately, I have windows Vista, which I hear nothing but problems about in regards to recording. I prefer to use Adobe Audition, as I'm familiar with it, and like it.

Out of some disbelief I had to try my own setup suggestion from above, since it's not a thing I do daily anymore. Without wanting to go into any dispute with the above poster, I can only say:
It works well here.
Your mileage may vary.
Setting up two mono tracks with a separate input to each, I was able to record vocals with reverb from Audition in my monitoring headphones, along with recording an electro-acoustic instrument (guitar in my case) on the adjacent track with no reverb at all. I sang/tested with lots of consonants and different monitor levels and reverbs; I used the Studio Reverb, which is the least CPU intensive and recommended in the manual. There was no noticable delay, echo, what have you, which I felt disturbed my precision at all. Now I KNOW technically there is a delay/latency, but for practical purposes it isn't noticable. I've also heard some singers are extremely pecky on this, and for them there is the solution of direct monitoring and an outboard reverb added to their headphone signal. For everyone else however it works well and the latency just a theory - certainly not an audible 'echo' of any kind. With a poor soundcard and a computer low on resources latency will become evident. Also if you don't use ASIO. This type of application is why we have ASIO.

Switching off of keyboard sound while dialing

How can I switch off the keyboard sound while dialing a number? The keyboard sound itself is switched off so no sound will be played while typing an e-mail or text message.
I am using BB Z10 running OS 10.0.10.90, German language.

Volume buttons will turn off the dialing tones ( as well as the ringer). Also setting the phone to silent or vibrate only profile. Only workarounds I know of for this.

Most movies have Dolby surround sound. Seems like you don't have all sound channels coming out of your speakers.
Is the AppleTV connected to a receiver or to a TV?
If you have a receiver that supports dolby surround you should configure the sound settings of the Apple TV and receiver accordingly.
If it's connected to a TV the audio setting "Dolby Digital" in the Apple TV should be set to off.
