My MuVo Micro Crashes My Computer and Locks Up - HELP

I just got a Creative 52MB MuVo? Micro N200 for christmas. I just learned how to rip tracks from a CD and transfer it into the player. However, I tried this twice and both times it totally crashed my computer (total lock up in blue screen saying it couldn't write to the dri've for my player - had to turn off the power to turn off the computer) and locked up the player. Both times, I was transferring several (about 5) songs at one time. It it said that all the songs were complete except the last one. Then it kind of hung up. It wouldn't even let me eject the dri've because it said it was still transferring files. Then the computer crashed. Afterward, the player wouldn't even turn on. I had to take the battery out and put it back it in. The songs I had transferred made it into the player okay.
My computer is about 3-4 years old. It is an HP Pavilion with a celeron processor and I upgraded the RAM to 320 MBs. I am connecting to the player through a USB hub. I run the ZoneAlarm firewall and the AVG anti-virus program and I keep both up to date. Another weird thing that happens is that every time I connect the player to the computer, my webshots (a free screensaver and wallpaper picture program) program organizer starts up.
Does anyone have any ideas for how to fix this?

With installing my zen xtra software it completely deleted my registry..... I install it on my xp comp, it works fine..... the only problem is that all my music is on my ME comp..... im not going to split the files and put all of them on floppys..... i have AVG too..... I wonder if it causes it!
I hate Windows ME..... it was even deemed the worst OS ever by tech tv!
It could be the firmware, even the media player drivers..... I cant test the media player idea, as soon as i install it it kills my computer..... but i installed new firmware and it stopped freezing ( The zen xtra )

Thanks for the question. If you uninstalled the application by dragging it to the trash, you will want to empty the trash before attempting to download again:

To uninstall other apps, drag the app to the Trash (located at the end of the Dock), then choose Finder > Empty Trash.
Afterwards, go ahead and restart your computer and attempt to download from your purchase history once more.

Transfering itunes from XP to new Leopard computer AND synching iPhone help

I'm a complete Mac OS novice and have purchased a new iMac. I have been using WinXP and own an iPhone. I have backed up my itunes library (from my XP computer) onto multiple dvds. How do I transfer my library onto the mac AND keep my contacts from my iPhone intact? Do I need to do a complete restore on the new computer? Will my contacts be deleted?
Please bear in mind I am a COMPLETE novice with OS X. Step by step directions for transfering my library, deauthorizing the xp computer, and synching my iphone would be amazing.

Did you use the iTunes backup feature to backup your iTunes library to DVDs? If so, then to restore the backed-up files, insert a backup disc into your iMac, open iTunes, choose File > "Back Up to Disc," and then click Restore.. Once your files are copied, you can [deauthorize your old XP computer|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesWin/7.4/en/15281.ht ml] and authorize your new Mac.
Note: Before you sync your iPhone to your Mac, make sure you have a backup of your contacts and all other important information on your Windows computer.
Go to the Info tab in iTunes (on your Mac) and select Sync Contacts. When you hit apply, you should get a message saying "The information on this iPhone is synced with another user account. Do you want to sync the iPhone with the information from this user account instead?" Click Merge Info. This should copy the contacts from your iPhone to Address Book on your Mac.

My mother is killing her poor computer and I need help fixing it please!

My mom has a mac mini and all shes does with it is download those dumb animated gif icons....over and over....dont ask me why...
anyway, she downloaded like an insane amount to her desktop and now when she starts up, the computer spends so much time trying to change the icons into thumbnails, that it's a constant spinning wheel. I cannot do anything and this computer is slow as * now.
Anyone have suggestions about what I can do to get rid of these files and speed things up?

I would have suggested that you quietly hack into Mom's computer and make her default download folder somewhere other than the Desktop, perhaps even somewhere she can't find but from where you can delete all the gifs!
I would also have suggested that you read her the following 'riot act':

Mac OS X's Desktop is the de facto location for downloaded files, and for many users, in-progress works that will either be organized later or deleted altogether. The desktop can also be gluttonous, however, becoming a catch-all for files that linger indefinitely.
Unfortunately -- aside from the effect of disarray it creates -- keeping dozens or hundreds of files on the Desktop can significantly degrade performance. Not necessarily because the system is sluggish with regard to rendering the icons on the desktop and storing them in memory persistently (which may be true in some cases), but more likely because keeping an excessive number of items on the Desktop can cause the windowserver process to generate reams of logfiles, which obviously draws resources away from other system tasks.
As such, keeping as few items as possible on the Desktop prove a surprisingly effective performance boon. The automatic Firefox update to 3.6.13 keeps failing and I think it may be crashing my computer and I am unsure what to do.

I get the notice that there is a new update and if I want to restart Firefox. I click restart and then i get a message that the update fails and it will now download the entire file (?). I allow it to do this and then click restart again but get an error that failed also and to go to Firefox.com and download Firefox from the web site. This happened over the weekend and while I can't be sure it was the cause, my computer crashed and won't shut down and then would not restart. I had to go through a System Restore to get it working again. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Edit: The Help section says it is version 3.6.13, so I am very confused right now although in system info on the right side of this page it says 3.6.12, so who knows which is correct. Thanks for any suggestions.

IE keeps crashing my computer and goes to the blue

Whenever I launch IE after 5-10 sec my computer crashes and goes to the blue screen. which does a memory dump. I then need to turn the computer off and restart it to get it to run. This will keep happening after the system does a repair. I'm not sure what

Start the Windows Explorer and go to the folder, default location is %SystemRoot%\Minidump. next, copy the dmp files to your desktop, zip all dmp into a zip file and upload the zip file to your public Skydrive folder and post a link here.

Maverick OSX update crashed my computer and OS. My harddrive and OSX and WIN have been lost and are irreparable. What are the next steps?

Mavericks has crashed my MacBook Pro.
I was offered the upgrade as a free and reccomended Apple Software Update that arrived on my computer.
I installed Maverick received an error during installation saying the HD was bad. I ran utility disk and internet recovery and attempted to boot in safe mode to no avail. My computer no longer had an OS. (I ran both OSX and WIN on my new HD). I took it to the Apple store and it was determined it was a software failure (Maverick) and not my harddrive. The tech at Apple told me I could take it to a data recovery place on MY dime to attempt to recover anything from the HD. I ran several expensive architectural programs which are now lost. Any advice as which aveneue to take next is much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Note, backing up is not a choice in computing. You either value your data or you don't. And when you install new software the drive is that much more at risk, if it is marginal. This is true of any operating system update because of the number of changes that happen at once.

Itunes v.6.0.3 consistantly crashes my computer and blocks my anti-virus

I've been having issues with iTunes v.6 for a while now. I had trouble immediately after downloading the new version. I had to use the "Lorraine" fix to get the thing to even open! Now, I've found that Norton won't scan or update, none of my Office applications will open, and my computer crashes on a regular basis.
At this point, I'm quite tempted to just uninstall itunes completely and start over with the version in the box.
Does anyone else have any suggestions or ways to make the rest of my computer work with iTunes? I saw that there is an update for iTunes, but didn't try it as my luck has been really poor with the updates lateley. Will that one fix the issues with iTunes/Windows?
Any help would be appreciated. Also, does anyone happen to know what the support email address is for iTunes? When you call the apple help line, they tell you to email iTunes support, but I can't find an email address anywhere.

Mis-typed the version number? Apple's iTunes download page indicates latest version is still 6.0.2.
Anyhow, it sounds like your computer could use a fresh start (backup your data and rebuild.) Especially since you mention that your recent update history hasn't been all that successful. iTunes is a major resource hog (CPU and RAM) but you might have some other underlying issues.
I administer 600+ WindowsXP machines, all with Office and anti-virus, many with iTunes. iTunes runs just fine.

MuVo micro 512mb Turns on and wont stay

Alright so i have had my MP3 player for exactly one month and 4 days...i turn it on and it turns right off. Before anyone says batteries i have put in new ones and all. I figured it could be a bad file or somethin so i cleared off all the files on the player and put one song on it. Still the problem persists. Some times it will turn on for like a minute then randomly shut off. This MP3 player has never gotten wet and all i do with it is weight lift and it sits in the arm band. It has never been hit or dropped or anything...Just really dissapointed that it wont work after one month.
What should i do? just wanted to see anything before i send it in

I think we'd better see if some other application (other than QuickTime itself) has dropped old QuickTime componentry in the system files on the PC. (If there's a version mismatch between the old componentry and the "QuickTime proper" componentry, that can create similar-looking symptoms, including uninstall errors.)
So we'll go looking for the older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view options on the PC.
1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab.
4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
5. Click OK.
Now in My Computer, open your C drive.
Open the "Windows" folder.
Open the "system32" folder.
What files and/or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file/folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

Home button and lock button, help?!

Ive had my ipod touch for just over one year and all of a sudden my home button stopped working and now my lock button is not working, meaning i am unable to use my ipod! anybody know if this can be fixed?!
