P.s : do u think this problem can be solved by flashing the phone and whats the method of flashing N70

You should format your card again but take a backup of it, format your phone and also take a backup of it, then reinstall your latest firmware in your phone. Try this all and to format your phone you will need to press *#7370# in your standby mode.
Please reply for my posts also! Thanks in advance.

  • N70 hangs during "Updating" Multimedia Messages

I am running WindowsXPsp2, using PC Suite 6.84 on a Toshiba TECRA laptop. I am connecting to a N70 m/phone using a USB cable.
    Problem:
When I click on the "Contacts" or "Messages" icon within PC Suite a new "Updating" window opens that shows the progress of synchronisation between phone and laptop but hangs (locks-up) during the sync of Multimedia Messages.

    Yes :-).
The problem is fixed by removing the "MMS Sync" applic from the phone. I can now upload SMS messages from my phone to my Laptop.
FYI. I re-installed "MMS Sync" applic on the phone and the problem re-appeared. It would appear there is a problem with the "MMS Sync" applic..??
    thanks for your help.

  • Data Back Up: N70 me

I have downloaded latest PC software for my N70 me. I had to as I am using Windows Vista. But I am facing a peculiar problem when I try to back up files on my phone.
When I try to back up data, the back up process stops at 40-50 per cent. Then I get a message saying that my phone was disconnected. While this happens in PC, my phone hangs up and I have to pull the battery out and restart it.
This problem happens even if I am backing up something as small as "Contacts" or "Calendar".

If pc suite doesn't work, you can backup the phone memory to a backup.arc file.
What's the law of the jungle?

  • N70 Won't Boot Up

    Hi,
I was in the middle of sending a text message earlier when my N70 froze. None of the keys would work and it would not turn off. I had to take out the battery. The phone won't boot up now though. It keeps hanging on the Nokia Welcome Message.
I tried taking out the sim card and MMC and it booted up. I tried putting in the SIM and it wouldn't boot. I took back out the sim and tried to format the phone. It booted up and asked for my location etc. Again I tried to insert either the SIM or the MMC and it would not work. I've tried inserting just the SIM on it's own and it won't work. I've tried inserting the MMC on it's own and again it won't work. I've taken out both now and the phone still won't boot up.
It just hangs on the Nokia screen.
Please can anybody help? I'm in work and desperately need my phone for same.
    Thanks

    Update:
I've got the phone to boot up after I "3 Finger Saluted" it. I got the MMC card in and formatted it. Phone is running fine. I insert the SIM card and it asks me to I want to contine running it in offline mode.
I select yes and again the phone works fine. When I switch it to "online" mode, that is go to use the phone to make a call etc I can hear the phone making a noise and it just freezes. It's just a whirring/ sqeualing kind of noise. I have to remove the battery to get it to stop.
    Can anybody help?

  • N70 - accidentally bypassing the LockCode

    Hi all,
This post was originally added to the Connectivity board but was probably in the wrong place so I have deleted it (no responses) and moved it here instead..
I have looked through a number of the threads and also searched on a few relevant terms (N70, S60, Bluetooth, Lockcode etc...) but could not see anything relevant, so..
I have a Nokia N70, bought from an Orange retailer in December 2006.
As I drive a lot I also purchsased a Jabra BT250 Bluetooth headset.
As I am security aware, I also have a userlock on my phone that kicks in after 10 minutes of inactivity.
In normal use and when in the car, I receive an incomming call, I accept it using a button on the headset or on the phone, talk, chat etc... then hang up. This works whether the userlock is active or not (as expected)
What is NOT expected is that after the call completes and even if the userlock is active I can then navigate through my contacts, texts, emails, the whole phone menu system; either immediately after or after about 20 minutes or so.
The only thing I CANNOT do is turn the phone off - If I try to do this it either a) Locks the phone controls and I have to remove the battery, or b) prompts for my lockcode first (to unlock the phone then I have to press the power off button again)
Any advice \ pointers to existing relevant threads would be useful (or even confirmation that I'm not the only one suffering this).
One other minor issue I have also found (but think I know the reason why), if I am paired with the headset or another device If I attempt to send a photo \ file \ text by bluetooth to another user (searched for and found), the phone typically locks up afterwards. Cheers

This isn't only when the headset's connected, though it may only be that so far...
I also use a Jabra headset, though the 250V - fantastic aren't they? lol
I've had endless problems with the lock, and it locking up, having to reboot, it was fixed with a firmware update a while ago, but it's got even worse now.
You could try updating your firmware, though make sure you've got everything backed up first.
This has got so bad for me I'm changing phones... well, when the N95 is released... wish that was sooner though.

  • N70 firmware-update - doesnt continue "searching f...

    Hi everybody
I have trouble updating the firmware.
I installed everything as I was supposed to and connected the nokia n70 with the computer via USB. PC Suite recognized the phone and i clicked the button to update the firmware. in the upcoming window "nokia software Updater" i followed the instructions and clicked on start. it started with the message "searching for a connected phone" and thats it. it is searching for... well, 20 minutes now, but earlier this day it was searching for an hour.
Twice i managed to come to "detecting your phone", but those times it got stuck then.
The connection works fine. I can use every other application in pc suite without any trouble. The computer has the requirements and its pretty new, so there should not be any problem.
i also turned off the anti virus program (norton). I reinstalled the software (PC Suite, Software Updater and USB-cable connection) with norten being turned off, but nothing helps
one last thing: i own the phone for 3 weeks now and got it from a friend. the friend had the phone from a contract with vodafone, but i do not believe that there should be a problem.
    please help me.
furthermore i just found out that my n70 makes a noise when the light of the phone (display background / keyboard) is on.
The noise is kind of like "hmmmmmm". Like a recharger. what do you know about that?
well, thanks alot for your help,
    Bernd

    Hi everybody:
Here is the reason for the problem
Norton doesnt like the nokia software updater.
I uninstalled norton and suddenly i was able to update my phone.
    So:
The reason for hanging at "searching for a connected phone" is norton! deactivating norton does not help! you have to uninstall norton!!!
    thanks for your help

  • N70 phonebook numbers in messages

I have got a Nokia N70, yesterday out of no-where the sms/mms messages i recieved weren’t picking up the contacts name in the phone book.
I.E when receiving a text message, at first glance it would look like the sender was someone NOT in my phonebook as the number was being displayed instead of their name. But further investigation proved that the number WAS in my phonebook and had been from a number of months previous to this.
This is not just happening for one person, its happening for every person in my address book.
    1. The numbers have been duplicated as i have noticed this error happens when they have.
    2. I've deleted all contacts and copied them in again - no change.
    3. Turned on/off
I’m running out of idea's and its driving me mad because at the moment to find out who's the number is, i have to ring it wait for it to display on the screen then hang up.
    Thanks!!!
    marc

Are they on the sim card as well as the phone memory? Not sure whether that affects anything as I never keep numbers on my sim.
Maybe they've been duplicated twice (some people who have sync'd with Outlook etc have had problems like that) - try deleting the contact entry you know is correct - then get it to call you again and see what is displayed - if it's still in there again, it will show a name.

  • N70 Update Issue

I was actually happy because at first I thought it's not possible to update the Nokia Software, using the user's computer with Internet Access. I thought it was only possible with Sony Ericsson. Because of the user-friendly software called "Nokia Software Updater", I was able to update my N70 phone to the latest firmware. Which is version 5.0705.3.0.1 ...
The update software only shows that there's an improvement when it comes to the Music Manager and Bluetooth Capabilities of the Phone. But then, I wanted a more detailed explaination, something like a changelog on this new version of software that was installed on my phone.
Well, I was only redirected to a list of changes for the latest phones today. Not my N70 phone. But it's fine. I'm always thinking that somehow it's a lot faster than before. Hopefully it's true, not psychological :manhappy:
The Music program of N70, well it was able to see my missing M4A files that I thought I wasn't able to upload them to my phone (old firmware). Messages are somehwat, well faster to open.. I guess..
Well, here's the thing. The program FExplorer or any program that asks the user to restart the phone or probably any program that sends the "restart" signal to my N70 phone, well basically it doesn't restart my phone anymore. I had to manually remove the battery. Because it hangs. It never happens with the old firmware. The 2.0 firmware. The original fimware that came with my N70 phone. Before, I used the restart function of FExplorer, and the program did managed to restart my phone successfully.
    Well now, it hangs.
So, is that an issue with the latest firmware? By the way I'm using the latest version of FExplorer...
some of my friends are using the same phone as well, of course different firmware. They were able to use the
    restart function of FExplorer.
Thanks in Advanced and Waiting for your'e reply.

It might be an issue of the new firmware. But the best thing which you can do is to change ur phone, its too old and i think nokia is never gonna fix it. Buy an N96 or some other latest phone.

  • Nokia N70 and Pc Suite 6.6 not connecting properly

I am having problems connecting to my phone from windows xp and pc suite.
Whenever i try to "backup" or use "file manager" i get connection errors. Nokia connection manager is showing connected ok. When i click 'file manager' i can see the N70, but as soon as i try to 'explore' it by double clicking i get an error similar to 'Operation could not be completed'. (sorry not at home at the mo, experiencing parity error in my organic memory! ;-p)
    History:
I Previously had Pc suite 5 installed and connected via bluetooth to my Nokia 6600. I believe the problem is the old PC Suite software as I can connect on a works laptop but not from my home pc. I have removed all previous Bluetooth, Nokia software via add-remove programs but still no luck.
I have tried renaming my memory card and even re-formatting and renaming, no luck.
    System Details:
    Windows XP SP1
    PC Suite 6.6 Rev 18
    Nokia N70
    CA-43 usb cable
    v2.0539.1.2 19-10-05 RM-84
Can anyone help? I really don't want to uninstall and re-install windows if i can help it!

sorry, i thought i was replying to a different thread i had allreayd posted my problem in, whihc is...
I had the firmware updated on my N70 today to get rid of the dreaded orange home screen at a nokia dealer, but when I try to connect to my PC it won’t work.
When I first got home and plugged it in via USB windows first told me the USB device was not reqocnised, so I pulled out the cable and put it in as advised. it seemed to be ok then, but just after i went to transfer some music over but it wouldn’t let me (as if my phone was not connected) and PC suit said I didnt have a phone connected, although I could see my phone under 'my computer' but couldn’t transfer any thing over.
So I downloaded PC suite again to make sure I had up to date software and drivers, I already had them it seemed but I unistalled and install them again just in case. But when I come to set up the connection the set up screen simply hangs, although the cable is working as windows makes that noise and it pops up to say N70 found, but then a second later says the install didn’t work, all the time the setup screen still hangs in the background.
I have tried every thing in this thread and others including doing the clean setup from nokia.
    My firmware version: 3.0546.2.3.18-11-05RM-84
    Windows XP SP2
    Please help.
    Thanks

  • Move messages from N70 to E65

    hi all,
i just bought Nokia E65 and i am trying to move the messages from my old phone (N70) to E65.
BTW, i stored the messages at the MMC in the N70, and i also created folders in the "my Folder", so is it possible to just move the "Mail" folder from my N70 MMC to the new memory card for the E65, and if so, where this folder will be moved, becuse i tried to move it to the same old folder "system" but i want able to see the messages in the E65.

It did work for me but just few minutes in N73 (SMS from 6600), but my N73 hang rightaway. I had to take MiniSD out in order to get my phone start again. On Symbian 9.1 this issue seems to look the most absert job. Come on Nokia, after all they were all our beloved messages. Is it illegal to manage all things that belong to us who actually use money to buy you a new phone? Come on and come on.....

  • N70 Operating System and User Interface

    Hi,
Could you please specify the OS and User Interface version of N70, have the OS/UI of the new handsets been changed recently, please give details?
    Appreciate your help.

    Good question with good answer.
I think may be I can contribute to it too.
Symbian OS is an operating system, designed for mobile devices, with associated libraries, user interface frameworks and reference implementations of common tools, produced by Symbian Ltd. It is a descendant of Psion's EPOC and runs exclusively on ARM processors.
Symbian is currently owned by Ericsson (15.6%), Nokia (47.9%), Panasonic (10.5%), Samsung (4.5%), Siemens AG (8.4%), and Sony Ericsson (13.1%). Whilst BenQ has acquired the mobile phone subsidiary of Siemens AG the Siemens AG stake in Symbian does not automatically pass to BenQ - this will need the approval of the Symbian Supervisory Board.
Symbian OS, with its roots in Psion Software's EPOC, is structured like many desktop operating systems with pre-emptive multitasking, multithreading, and memory protection.
There are a number of smartphone user interface platforms based on Symbian OS, including open platforms UIQ, Nokia's S60 (formerly known as "Series 60"), Series 80 and Series 90 and closed platforms such as that developed for NTT DoCoMo's FOMA handsets. This adaptability allows Symbian OS to be used on smartphones with a variety of form factors (e.g. clamshell or candybar/"monoblock", keypad- or pen-driven).
    Here is a short history:
Symbian OS v9.1 released early 2005. It includes many new security related features, particularly a controversial platform security module facilitating mandatory code signing. Symbian argues that applications and content, and therefore a developers investment, are better protected than ever, however others contend that the requirement that every application be signed (and thus approved) violates the rights of the end-user, the owner of the phone, and limits the amount of free software available. The new ARM EABI binary model means developers need to retool and the security changes mean they may have to recode. S60 3rd Edition phones have Symbian OS 9.1. . The earlier versions had a fatal defect where the phone hangs temporarily after the owner sent hundreds of SMSes. However, on 13 September 2006, Nokia releases a small program to fix this defect.
Current recent sets like n91,n80,n73,n93 has OS 9.1.
Symbian OS v9.2 released Q1 2006. Support for Bluetooth 2.0 (was 1.2) and OMA Device Management 1.2 (was 1.1.2). S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 phones have Symbian OS 9.2.
Symbian OS v9.3 released on 12 July 2006. Upgrades include native support for Wifi 802.11, HSDPA, Vietnamese language support.Message Edited by korngear on 31-Jan-2007
