My nano 6th generation power button will not turn off

My Nano power button will not turn my I pod off anymore.  It'a 6th generation.

You can either do an out-of-warranty replacement at your nearest Apple Store for $65/$75 USD depending on the size of your Nano or have a 3rd party replacement of the switch.

  • T60 beeps four times after pushing power button; will not turn on.

After returning from a flight yesterday, I tried to start up my T60.  After pressing the power button, all the usual status lights came on.  Shortly thereafter it beeped at me four times, approximately four seconds after pushing the power key.  It then stops doing anything at all.  The power and battery lights remain on.  Pushing the power key again tuns off the power and battery lights.  The screen never comes on.  I have checked the RAM (it is secure) and have tried booting on A/C w. no battery, A/C w. battery, and on battery alone.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
According to this document on Lenovo's web site, Beep and no beep symptoms - ThinkPad General, there may be an issue with the TPM (security) chip.  Have you been able to resolve the issue yet?

  • PXIe-1075 Power switch will not turn off chassis

    Hi,
I think I am having trouble turning my PXIe-1075 chassis off with the front mounted power switch. When I press the power switch, the green LED will ficker and the PWR LED on my PXIe-8360 MXI card will flicker from green to red and then back to green. I have a PXI-1042 chassis as well that seems to turn off properly. The switch on my PXI-1042 chassis has two positions, but the switch on my PXIe-1075 only seems to have one position. I am in a spot where I will need to power off my chassis to move it occasionally. Does it sound like my PXIe-1075 chassis has an issue? Am I missing something? I also tried holding the power switch. This will cause all the installed modules active light to turn off, but the PWR light on the switch and the PWR light on the MIX card will stay the same.

    Hello,
The 1075 has two modes for shutdown.  You can select between the modes with the 'inhibit' switch on the back of the chassis.  When this switch is in the default position, the chassis will power down when you shut down the controller in the chassis (I'm not sure if it will automatically power down with the MXI connection when you shutdown the PC- I do not believe it will).  When the switch is in the manual position, the chassis does not shut down with the controller and you must use the Inhibit signal on pin 5 of the Remote Inhibit and Voltage Monitoring connector.  I believe your chassis is in 'Manual' mode.  More information on this is available in the manual on page 2-12:

I do not think that the power button on the front can be used to power off the chassis.

I should have tried it. I think these were used or refurbished by Apple.  It came in a white, non apple labeled box.  I don't know how to get help from Apple.  I want my generation 1 IPod back... Any ideas welcomed.  Thank you.

  • The power button will not press, it's stuck

The power button will not press, it's stuck. I need help.

Believe it or not, if the power button is not related to a more serious issue. You can take it to an Apple Store, remember to set a genius appointment at http://www.apple.com/retail/,  and get it unstuck for free, or call 800-676-2775 for help. If its more of an issue, they will tell you at the store and how much it will cost to repair if your device isn't under warranty. Also, you can trade it in for credit toward a new ipod touch. Hope this helps.

  • Ipod nano firewire error and will not turn off! PLEASE help

I am having the exact same problem as I see may of you unfortunate Apple users are. I am receiving the error message about firewires and I have never used one. The nano will not turn off and I have to let the battery run out. The play/pause function works perfectly fine, but not to turn off the nano. The sleep function does not do anything either. I am so disappointed with Apple because they would not help me on the phonbe since it is well past my first 90 days of ownership. I may have gotten a single drop of water on it, but that was about 2 weeks ago, and still having the same problems. I don't know what to do, but I see that Apple has gotten mighty rich off of their JUNK products! Anyone out there, help me please!

Do a reset.  You will not lose any data: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If this does not help resore from a backup.  See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Lastly try restoring to factory settings.
If none of this works, it's probably a hardware problem.  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of your Apple store.  You are under warranty and they will fix or replace it on the spot.

  • External volume on 5G Nano will not turn off

External volume always stays on, will not turn off on 5G iPod Nano, even when headphones are plugged in.
Went through the 5 R's (Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, Restore).  No change.
Could it be a defective volume control?

I had same problem - I reset options, etc.
FINALLY, after reviewing this discussion and going to the link as was suggested, I called Apple. The tech guy suggested making sure it was not on lock (on top) which it wasnt' and said to press Menu and Middle circle button (as opposed to Play/pause) at same time and apple logo should appear. It did, and then it unfroze and let me turn it off finally!!!
He thought problem occurs when you leave it on too long.
He suggested NOT to reset options else you'll lose your playlists (at least until you sinc up with your itunes.
    Hope this works!!

  • When charged up I touch will not turn off with on off button

When charged up my I touch will not turn off using the on/off button, can use the home button but I touch stays on & drains the battery.

To turn the the iPod off you have to press and hold the On/Off button until the power off slider appears (about 5 seconds). Are you doing that?

  • 2nd Generation iPod touch will not turn on

My 2nd Generation iPod touch will not turn on.  I have held the lock button down for up to 30 seconds and it remains a black screen.  When I put it on the charger, the screen usually shows the battery amount, but it will not do that either.  I checked the battery about 10 minutes before it began this, and it was about 75% charged.  There is no way it could be dead.  It will not even show the apple, as if it were powering on.

    - Connect the iPod to your computer.  If iTunes sees the iPod restore the iPod.
    - Next see if resetting the iPod will make the iPod visible so you can restore the iPod.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next see if recoverymode  will make the iPod visible.  For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

  • My 1st generation iPad will not turn off and I have performed the suggested fix. What's next?

My iPad will not turn off. I have done the off/sleep key home button procedure.

Just to be perfectly clear, when you reset the iPad by hod,ing down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen, that is a way of resetting the system and restrating the device. If you want to shut down, you still have to hold down on the power button until the slider appears and then slide to the right to shut the iPad off.
IS this what you are doing and if so what happens when you try to shut down? Describe what happens in detail.
