My Nano is dead... PLEASE HELP

Since I bought it I have been having a lot of troubles. Sometimes iTunes wouldn't find it. Sometimes it did but all the songs got erased. Sometimes only some songs got erased. Just now I was trying to put some more songs on and my iTunes stopped reading my iPod. I looked down at my iPod and the screen went from full colour to black and white and shut off. Now when I turn it on I get a little folder (in black and white) and a note saying www.apple.com/support/ipod.
I am very ticked off that my brand new iPod Nano is now a paper weight. What can I do to fix this problem?
PS: I think I just got a craped out Nano to start with. The very first time I pluged it into the comp -- after installing the software, of course -- my computer said that a folder in it was corrupt or something.

Bonnie, if your iPod is really dead then Apple will replace it or repair it under warranty, free of any charge to you. All iPods come with an Apple backed 1 year hardware warranty. I've used it myself on the very last day of its application. Apple's response was very good indeed.
Don't worry. If there is a hardware problem with your iPod it will simply be replaced free.

    Ok, I purchased a second generation 4gig green Ipod nano on Monday. For some strange reason today it locked up. Now it refuses to work at all. It is stuck with the backlight on and the music paused. I do not know what I did worng or if it is my Ipod. It was working perfectly. Then I pressed pause and it screwed up. If nobody can help me by tommorrow I will have to take it back. Also, my computer just managed to detect it. It told me I should restore it so I told it yes. Now it keeps having the error message "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "iPod". The requested resource was not found." Somebody please help me.

    Are yu saying that the hold switch doesn't work to get it out of "Hold"? Have you tried (with the hold switch in the left or off position) to reset it: press and hold Menu and Select (center) buttons at the same time for at least 6 seconds?

  • Error message when connecting Nano to computer - please help!

    I just started getting an error message when I try to disconnect my Ipod Nano from my computer after it's done charging/updating. The message tells me the device can't be stopped because other programs are utilizing files on my nano.
    I tried restarting my computer, but it froze. It's happened twice now and I have had to disconnect it when it says not to. Please help!

    I have been ejecting it. This problem only began recently. I read through about 30 pages of this forum and found someone postoing about the same problem. They said it may be McAfee Viruscan in the background.I'll check that out.

    I have the large IPOD (4 YEARS OLD) and bought a 2nd Ipod Nano that's smaller for the gym. I plugged it into my MAC BOOK PRO and it keeps saying it needs to be updated which I press "OK" and then it asks for my password and when I type it in, it keeps stating it's "incorrect"?     What "reading device" are you using?
    As it started the macbook told me I was '+running on battery power+' and '+was I sure?+'. With full battery I said yes and continued.
    It is best to have the power adapter connected when running a long process like this which cannot be interrupted.
    The new internal drive was also making a repetitive noise - not loud or anything but certainly sounded like it was searching for something. As the whole thing was stuck and nothing was working I held down the power button.
    How long was it "stuck?"
    I tried again with the first disc but it wont even do anything anymore! I took out the new drive and put in the old one. Booted up. Connected the new drive to the reader with the idea of re-formatting it via disc utility.
    But now the brand new drive is not readable and is making the a few funny repetitive noises.
    Please help me someone - I'm very worried about this new drive now!!! Is is broken or corrupted or something???
    It sounds like there is something amiss with the new HD. If you have access to a different external enclosure, (even on a PC, just to see if the HD will function), you could try erasing/formatting it again. If not, I think it's time to contact the vendor about a return.

    Please help - My nano keeps reseting itself. The Apple logo comes on, the screen goes blank, and then the Apple logo comes on again. IT just keeps doing this. I can't reset it, and iTunes won't read it while it is doing this. What do I do? I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

    See if you can put it in disk mode. As soon as it resets, push center + play/pause. Then, you can do a restore in disk mode.

    Last week , my pearl (8100)started behaving abnormally. It reboots by itself , red light blinks and  shows hour glass for a minute or two and then reboots again.
    I have shown to a local cellphone repair dealer , who tried flushing the software and reloading...Nothing worked..he said it might have developed some hardware problem.

    i hadnt used it in a few days and when i got it, it wouldnt turn on. i quickly got scared and used the five Rs. still nothing. all i see on the screen is what seems to be an ipod Diagnostics menu, so it says. plus it is very very faint. you have to look really hard to see it. my computer and itunes are not responding to it. can you please help me?

    I've got a 80g classic ipod that is flashing with the apple logo. It was working fine up till yesterday but since downloading a new album and trying to sync its not now. My computer doesnt even detect the device is there now. I initially tried restoring it but it went into the flashing apple logo ststus after about 10 mins. I've had it just over a year so is now out of warrenty

    after installing a third-party application, my computer started acting up, Parts of the picture would stop and just go black...things just got worse; Now the computer does turn on, but I dont hear the start up noise, all I hear is the fan running and the CD-Rom running as well.     After leaving my ipod hooked up to my computer for most of the day yesterday and resetting it a couple times, it actually turned on and started working. But the battery died almost immediately, so I am guessing it is the battery ... maybe?
    Any thoughts on how to go about getting a new battery? I am not great with technology and don't even see how to open the ipod so that the battery can be replaced.

  • Logic Midi Note Dead, Please Help!!!

    I am mixing some cues for a indi production. Today I merged two midi regions (region1, and region 2). However the last note of region one now won't play correctly. I need it to be a held not but no matter what I do I only get like a eigth beat staccato note and then silence. This only happens on any notes placed in that particular beat of that particular measure. No matter what not it is I ge the same effect. I've gone through my event list to see if any controllers are affecting it but none seem to be active on that beat. Please help. I really need that note to hold the entire beat.
    P.S. I'm on logic pro 9

    I've already checked for multiple notes, nada. I can get no sound on the beat, just not a long sound.
    It looks right on the piano roll editor. Thats the problem. I can't use the piano roll to adjust the time of the note. I'm writing a song in the piano roll using the esX24 as my synthesizer. So its a pretty basic bare bones set up. I've tried copying other notes to that beat, no results either. Anynot I put on that partical beat, no matter what i is, will only play a short staccato.
    Is there any sort of catche for midi data that might have recorded an error?

    Hello, i need help pronto! my iBook G4, i always thought it was the best computer ever, i've had Mac for several years now and they always work just fine, but the other day i left my iBook sleeping while it charge the battery and when i came back i tried to turn it on and i notice that the computer was off not sleeping, i wierd smell was comming out of the left down corner of the computer and the computer dont work at all, and the battery never charged! i think that the problem is the power supply, but i can be wrong! im clueless and i really mis my laptop!     Alright take a deep breath everything is going to be fine. First off what kind of smell? I have noticed over the years that all Macs, when they get hot have a scent. When you try to turn your computer on any vital signs? Sounds? Lights? Anything? You might want to take your computer to your local Apple Store to get an evaluation from a Mac Genius. Respond with specifics about everything, you get better responces. I wouldn't be surprised if you fried it. Maybe surge, but its hard to tell.

  • My Zen Nano is dead! Help me!

    I've got one Zen Nano for almost 0 months and it never gave me any trouble. It was working perfectly till yesterday.
    Today, when I tried to turn it on, it turned the backlight on, displayed the Zen Nano logo and right after it, it shut down. I've tought it was a problem with the FAT, so I tried to format it, without any success, windows explorer would freeze when I right click the dri've...
    The other thing that could be wrong, was the firmware, so I downloaded the firmware update thingy (I've done it before, but there was a new version I didn't have yet), turned it on holding the Play/Pause button to get in the recovery mode. It recognized my version and said it would update to the new one. I said ok and waited for a while.
    A few moments later it showed the following message "Error - could not perform SCSI command."
    The updated closed, and since then, my Zen Nano is completely dead.
    Is there anything I could try? Any tip? Suggestion?
