My new battery wont charge at all...???

I just replaced my battery in my Macbook Pro because my old battery wouldnt hold a charge.  My new battery wont charge at all...???  Could it be the adapter?  The green light is on.

Have you reset the SMC?

  • Satellite A70 new battery wont charge

I finally bought a replacement battery for my very old laptop as the original one that came with it has done its life after 5 yrs of loyal service. Anyway the strange thing is when I first put the new battery in with my laptop turned off the battery indicator on the front turned green in about 2 hours but when I tried to boot my laptop up on the new battery it got a short way past the Toshiba screen and then died.
So with my laptop still turned off I plugged it back in and sure enough the indicator light glowed amber again.
I left it for a good 5 hours to juice up but since nothing changed after this time I turned the laptop back on to see how far I'd gotten.
The Toshiba Power Management Utility told me that the battery was at 98% so I left the laptop on for a while and it eventually went into standby mode. i left it this way for more than 24 hours but after this time I came back and the Toshiba Power Management Utility still indicated 98% charge. So I decided to see if it would work without the AC adaptor as 98% charge is close enough to full but upon removing the AC adaptor my laptop died.
I thought there might be a problem with the AC in port on my laptop as this is a common problem with the A70 and A75 but I ruled that out when I found it still able to charge my old battery. This also rulled out a problem the laptop itself as it still works fine off the old battery, only for 2 hours of word processing though.
Just to be sure I've had the battery in the laptop on charge for days now and no change. It still wont boot up from the new battery and it still says 98% charge. Is it a bad battery, a problem with communications between the microprocessor in the battery and my laptop or is it a problem with Toshiba's power management utility?

I figured as much but was wondering if there was some technical issue with the laptop's software preventing it from using the new battery properly. I was kinda hoping this would be the case. There is a slight difference between the 2 batteries, my original is 6450mAh and the new one is 6600mAh. But everywhere I have looked, the replacement battery for part No. PA3383U-1BAS is 6600mAh instead of 6450mAh so I don't suppose this would pose a problem. I guess I'll have to claim my warrenty for my battery but I still have to fork out P&H costs and I haven't got that kinda money at the moment.
Since it almost booted up when it was first in my laptop I guess the issue lies with the batteries abbility to be recharged or the microprocessor in the battery is so far out of calibration it can't be recharged. Either way it's not something I can fix. Thank goodness for warrenties, all ways get extended warrenties I say, seriously, sometimes I think companies design things to break like clockwork.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully that "new" and "known good" are not necessarily the same...while rare, a new battery can certainly be defective. Further, only by finding someone else with an identical BB with no issues can you actually trade batteries and narrow down if the problem is the battery or your BB.
Good luck and let us know!

  • HT2037 new battery wont charge

I bought a new battery for my MacBook and I installed it correctly. But when I went to plug it in, the light on the charger turns orange and won't charge the battery. I never had a problem with the charger until now.

    Try resetting the SMC
    Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
    Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

Recommend you posting in the correct forum and also read the instructions for installing a battery into your MBP. It would useful if you advised exactly which MBP you own too.

  • HT1476 My battery wont charge instead the battery gets drained

I recently bought the iphone 5 in November and ever since it has had problems with the battery, As most people have. Recently my battery has gone down quicker and quicker. Now for some reason my battery wont charge at all. when connecting to the charger the phone delays in recognising it and when it is removed it still says its charging. Now when it is charging it does not charge but drain the battery faster. I have tried buying a new charger, using older charges. I have updated the phone and nothing. I dont know what to do.

  • Battery wont charge at high loads all of a sudden?!

ANy help here would be appriciates, asap! thanks:P
All of a sudden, as of today, my battery wont charge when the mbp is under a high load. I thought it was just not charging (was not charging in wow) and then realised as soon as i quit, it started to charge again. SO i ran 2 yes > /dev/null to test, and all of a sudden it stopped charging and the magsafe light went to green... (at 25%) as soon as i stopped one of hte processes, abck to orange, charging... started a 2nd up, stopped charging and started to use the battery again.
Does ANYONE have any idea what is going on? i know macbooks can't cahrge under high loads, however, im on a MBP and it has never happened until this evening. Any ideas guys? could it be the bettery somehow, actual computer short not letting it get enough power.... anything? 3 month old mbp (3rd one, first two never had a problem, nor this until tonight)
callign apple in morning, but hoping to resolve before since the closest store is hrs away.. thanks!
    james

    Hey,
I've actually used yes to test it ( yes > /dev/null) in console to mac the cores, its standard on all systems. They've sent em a new power supply saying it sounds like 'it isnt getting all the current' basically, which, seems rather odd. it ONLY started after the keyboard update, as if the new firmware ***** more power ot eh usb hub and it just pushed it over.. maybe my magsafe was always busted nto working properly, but it's always worked for me.. I have a feeling i'm gonna be going into the store an hr away this weekend :/
Had a friend who has NOT ran the update try, and at full loads he still charge fine, unplugged with it running to drain battery a bit, plugged in and it went ot charge, i tried again and it goes green and wont charge at a heavy load Oh, yea, and my laptop wont go on w/o battery and plugged in.. like it's not getting the full 85w, or.. somethign is toasted on my actual laptop. CCC here i come for a drive clone tonight! heh

  • Fried my battery with variable voltage charger... new battery; wont work

so i plugged my ipod into one of those cheesy charge anything car adapters when it was on the wrong voltage setting. only took a few seconds before my ipod died, permanently... so i ordered a replacement battery and installed it... but for some reason it wont take a charge when i plug it into my comp... i figured the new battery was faulty so i got sneaky and popped the case off my girlfriends ipod and plugged my battery into it and connected it to my computer, and the **** thing turned on... so after my new battery was charged i took it out of my girlfriends and put it back into mine and it turned on... i was stoked, until i plugged it into my comp it said "battery low please connect to power source", beeped at me a few times and shut off. the battery has a full charge but it wont connect thru the usb cord to my computer or a wall charger... why cant my ipod connect anymore did i fry some internal circuitry as well as the battery... please offer any advice you might have im stumped and i cant just pull the case of my girlfriends ipod everytime i need a charge.

I assume by wrong voltage setting, you mean you had it set too high? Was it connected to your iPod through a USB connection?

  • My sons macbook 13 when I plug in to charge battery wont charge even after I bought new adaptor pug

how to fix my sons battery  wont charge in fact when you plug it in . The macbook does not show it is plugged in.  Does anyone know how to fix this problem.  I even got a new plug adaptor.  and It does not even show that it is plugged in, this is a brand new issue.  Anyone have an answer to fix this.

Try doing a SMC RESET and see if that sorts it out.
Also inspect your power port to see if dirt has accumulated.
Have a look at the link below and see if it applies to you.

  • HT4060 For some reason my iPad wont charge at all I'm using the same charger I use on my other iPad n it still won't work

For some reason my iPad wont charge at all I'm using the same charger I use on my other iPad n it still won't work

Try giving it a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys, past when you see the red power down slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
But  if that charger works just fine with your other iPad and not this one, I'd call up your local apple store and make an appointment so they can look at it. Usually when an iPad wont' charge (when plugged into the wall with its supplied charger) it's
    Bad outlet
    bad power brick
    bad cable
and if the charger is working with another iPad then that rules that out and the thing left is something wrong with the 30 pin port on the iPad, or perhaps something with the battery or software that monitors the battery. ANd things like that are beyond a user fix.
On the upside if the device is still under warranty - and barring any obvious signs of abuse or neglect - then it should be covered under the warranty.

  • I have recently been knocked over whilst carrying my mac book pro, the screen is now damaged and it wont charge at all... would apple replace it ?

i have recently been knocked over whilst carrying my mac book pro, the screen is now damaged and it wont charge at all... would apple replace it ?
i have tried buying a new charger incase this was the problem, it wasnt, it just wont icharge/turn on at all, im just wondering would apple replace it, as  am a student and need a computer and this is my only one?

Sorry no Apple will not replace it. What happened was an accident and the Apple warranty does not cover accidental damages.
So it looks like you will need to buy a new computer or pay to have your Mac fixed.

  • My ipod wont charge at all and there is a continuous charging sign when plugged in ? what can i do

my ipod wont charge at all and there is a continuous charging sign when plugged in ? what can i do

    - Have you tried differnt cable/USB port?wall chargers
    - Have you tried resetting it:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - When you connect it you computer doe you se the iPod in iTunes?  If yes I would try restoring it.  First from backup and then to factory defaults.
    - You may have a battery or hardware problem and thus an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store may be in order.

  • Ipad 2 wont charge at all

My ipad 2 wont charge at all... the computer wont recogize it.. nothing will.. i have tried restarting it many times, changing outlets, and adapters and also usb cables... i dont know what to do...

Plug it in to the Wall Outlet for at least 30 Minutes...
    iPad Charging
"The fastest way to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter.
iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter.
When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge, but only when it's in sleep mode.
Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB.
If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain."

I have an iphone that has stopped charging. I have purchased a new battery and charger for it but it is still not charging. Does anyone know how i can fix this?

That pretty much eliminates all the user-serviceable parts the phone has.
When you say you purchased a new battery, I'll assume that it included the installation and you did not go fiddling with the nanoscrews and such. So it's got to have some sort of warranty that the part is good and it is time to take it back for service.

  • Satellite L655 - battery wont charge

    Thanks for help

    Hi
I think the new battery should be tested but before doing this be sure that you use the latest BIOS
I means either its battery issue or notebooks power supply electronic issue and before the notebooks hardware would be checked, the notebook should be tested using new good working battery.
