  • My print setup will not work and Fire fox only prints blank pages. Help?

I tried to change the margins on my printer set up. Since I did this my printer will only print blank pages from Firefox. (If I open a PDF it prints fine) I have tried to go into print set up but it only comes up as a big black page. Any thoughts??

    Sorry, just to be clear:
    (1) Which did you use to make the change and which do not display correctly:
orange Firefox button > Print > Page Setup<br>
    ''or''<br>
classic File menu > Page Setup, or
the Properties button in the Print dialog?
    (2) If you switch to a different printer, such as a PDF printer driver (many free ones you can install, such as [http://www.primopdf.com/ PrimoPDF] and [http://www.cutepdf.com/products/cutepdf/writer.asp CutePDF Writer]), can you regain access to Firefox's Page Setup dialog?

  • ICal print menu will not come up

I have been trying to print my iCal calendar from my PowerBook G4, but the print menu will not come up. I have printed it from here before, so where did the print menu go? Help!

We have exactly the same problem here:
    OS 10.4.3, iCal 2.0.3, HP Photosmart 2610
    - Printing on any app works fine, ecept iCal
    - in iCal choosing the command "print..." just does nothing.
    I tried:
    - creating a new user - > printing in iCal works fine!
    so I tried:
    - trashing ...
    ... all ical-plists in "user/Library/Preferences/"
    ... the folder "user/Library/Application Support/iCal"
... moving all user-pref files out of the preferences folder
... disabling all the fonts in "users/Library/Fonts/" and "hd/Library/Fonts"
no way the get it back to print!
I'm sure it has nothing to do with the HP printer, cause on a different account it works.
Any ideas what else I could disable?
    Thanks for ideas

  • HT1338 I have updated my new MacBook Pro for HP Photosmart All-in-One, but it still will not scan - it will print, but will not scan. How can I fix this?

I have installed the updates for my HP Photosmart All-in-One c309a.  It prints, but will not scan.  Tells me to update - I did that, but still won't scan.  Any suggestions to make the scanner work?
This all worked perfectly with my old 2008 MacBook Pro.

Have you tried scanning from Image Capture or Preview?
A current driver is shown to be available for Mavericks (auto-downloaded):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3669#HP
But many people have found that manufacturer scanning control software doesn't work. They have to use the Apple-provided software.

  • My HP Photosmart Printer/Scanner will not scan since installing Maverick help

Since installing Maverick my HP printer/scanner will not scan documents print or save them, how can I fix this?

this worked for my HP printer/scanner:
    Try:
uninstall all printer manufacturer apps and "utilities"
go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Print
if your printer is there in the column on the left:
    control-click on your printer
select "Reset Printing System..." and "reset" in the dialog that follows
if your printer is not in the column on the left, go to the next step.
do a factory reset on your printer. You'll have to consult the printer manual for how.
if you connect to your printer/scanner via wifi, reset the wifi system:
power down everything: modem, router, computer, and printer
power up each item in turn in the same order: modem, router, computer, and printer. Let each power up completely before moving on to the next
enter your wifi password in your printer so it can connect to the network
if you do not connect via wifi, go to the next step
go back to printers & scanners and it should see your printer and download a driver for it from Apple. If it won't, then try going to the HP website and there may be a new software package for your printer that is compatible with Mavericks. Download and install it.

  • HP Photosmart Plus B209 - will not print photos - tray is not picking up the paper

The printer will not grab the photo paper when I attempt to print a picture.  It works just fine when printing other things, such as text from WORD or something from the internet.  Photo paper says "single sheet feed" on it, so I place one sheet in the tray.
Any ideas?  Am I doing something incorrectly?  Thanks

    Hi hgr7,
I understand that you are having an issue with the photo tray picking up the paper. I will try my best to help you with this problem. In this document for The All-in-One Does Not Pick Up or Feed Paper From the Photo Tray there are several steps to resolve this issue.
I hope this helps, let me know.

    Hi Yaugen,
Try these instructions.  The main task is to get Windows XP and Win7 to share resources.
Step one: Windows 7 Homegroup must be setup
Printer sharing must be setup in the Homegroup settings, if one of the computers in the network is using Windows 7.
    1. Click Start
    2. Click Control Panel
    3. In the upper right corner ensure that View by has Large icons or Small icons selected.
    4. Click Network and Sharing Center.
5. Click Choose homegroup and sharing options
    6. If the Homegroup is not setup, you need to set up your homegroup before continuing.
Step two: Set the Workgroup on each computer
Each computer on the network must be set to the same Workgroup.  The workgroup name needs to be changed from the default to a new name.
    Windows XP:
    1. Click Start.
    2. Right click Computer and then left click Properties.
    3. The default Workgroup is WORKGROUP.
    4. The name of the Workgroup should be changed from the default.
    5. In System Properties, click the Computer Name tab.
    6. Click the Change button.
    7. Enter the Workgroup name that is used by your entire network.  If you are changing the Workgroup name, use the same name used in Windows 7.
    8. Click OK.
    9. You must restart your computer for the change to take effect.
    Windows 7:
    1. Click Start.
    2. Right click Computer and then left click Properties.
    3. The Workgroup is listed in System Properties.
    4. The default Workgroup is WORKGROUP.
    5. The name of the Workgroup should be changed from the default.
    6. Change your Workgroup in Windows 7 by clicking Change settings.
    7. Click the Change button.
    8. Enter a new Workgroup name that will be used by your entire network.
    9. Click OK.
    10. You must restart your computer for the change to take effect.
Step three: Setup a share account on each computer in the network
Create a common share account on each of the computers, including the computer that is sharing the printer to the rest of the network.  This share account must have the same name and password on each computer.
If you decide to use an existing account that appears on each computer all ready, this existing account must be password protected. If you do not want to password protect your default login, create a new share login as described in the following steps.
     Windows XP
    1. Click Start
    2. Click Control Panel
    3. Click User Accounts
    4. Click Create a new account.
    5. Enter the same user account name created as the share account on the Windows 7 computer.
    6. Click Next.
    7. Under “Pick an account type”, select ‘Computer Administrator’.
Note: In Windows XP you must select Computer Administrator in order setup a printer.
    8. After you new account is created, select it under ‘pick an account to change’.
    9. Click Create a password
    10. Enter the same password used when creating the share account on the Windows 7 computer, following the directions on the screen.
    11. Click Create Password button.
    12. Log off your current user account and log into the new share account to activate it.
    13. Once the computer is ready after logging into the share account, you can log off the share account and back into your regular user account.
    Windows 7
    1. Click Start
    2. Click Control Panel
    3. In the upper right corner ensure that View by has Large icons or Small icons selected.
    4. Click User Accounts
    5. Click Manage another account
    6. Click Create a new account
    7. Select Standard User
Note:  The account created should be created with the lowest security setting necessary.  Creating the share account as an administrator is discouraged.
    8. Enter a new user account name.  Use a name that is easy to remember as the account used for sharing resources across your network.  For example: ‘ShareAccount’
    9. After your new account is created, select it under “Choose the account you would like to change”.
    10. Click Create a Password
    11. Enter a new password, following the directions on the screen.
    12. Click Create Password button.
    13. Close any remaining opened windows, making a note of the new account name and password as you will need to create identical accounts and passwords on the other computers on your network.
    14. Log off your current user account and log into the new share account to activate it.
    15. Once the computer is ready after logging into the share account, you can log off the share account and back into your regular user account.
Step Four: Share the printer to the network
The computer that has the printer attached and installed by USB must have the printer shared to the network.
    Windows XP
    1. Open the printers and faxes folder in Windows XP.
Note: A hand symbol under the icon for the printer indicates it is already shared to the network.
    2. Right click on the printer to be shared to the network.
    3. Left click on Sharing.
    4. Click “If you understand the security risks but want to share printers without running the wizard, click here”.
    5. Select “Just enable printer sharing”.
    6. Click OK.
    7. Select “Share this printer”.
    8. If the Share name is acceptable, click OK.
    9. If you want to change the Share name, enter a new name. Click OK.
Note: If the Share name entered is longer than 8 characters, you will get a warning that the printer will not be accessible from MS-Dos computers.
Step five: Install the appropriate software for your printer
Install the printer software on the other computers on the network that will need to access the shared printer.  Install the correct driver for the printer model for each computer on the network. Not all printers will need to have a driver installed, only newer printers.
    1. Check for available drivers – visit the HP website and download available drivers.
Note: Even if you have an install CD for your older HP product, there may be an updated driver for your printer.
    2. Launch the driver setup by double-clicking on the downloaded driver.
    3. If the driver install process requires you to attach the printer USB cable to continue, click cancel instead.  This will roll back the install, but it will leave the driver files installed.
    4. Select the USB connection type. Look for the checkbox labeled “Connect later – Do not connect to the printer now.  I will connect it later”.
Note: You might have to select USB connection type before the checkbox is visible.
    5. Complete the install without attaching the USB cable.
    6. After the software is installed, delete any icons created on the desktop.  They will not be linked to the shared printer and will only result in errors if used.
Step six: Install the shared printer.
Note: Computers that are not sharing a resource to the network may not show up by name when viewing the entire network.
    Windows 7
    1. Click Start.
    2. Click on Computer.
    3. In the lower left pane, click on Network.
    4. Double click on the computer that is sharing the printer.
    5. Enter the name of your share account as the “User name”.
    6. Enter the same password created for the share account.
    7. Check the box labeled Remember my credentials.
    8. Click OK.
    9. Right click on the printer, left click Open.
    10. Windows will find the previously loaded driver for the printer and complete the install.

I have a Crystal Report that will not open.  It gives the following error messages:

Tammy Chavez: Is there another program to try to open it with?
I don't think so, forget that. If you downloaded the file with Firefox try to do it again with Internet Explorer. I remember some time ago Mozilla having issues with some binary files. Or tell the client to zip the file before emailing it to you - if unzipping works and CR still complains about missing records then the problem is only on your machine and you should check the dlls (Google for them).

  • Printer setting will not engage.

Made several large images on new R3000.  On next image after opening "print" window, the printer setting button will not engage allowing me to change size or select paper. I'm working in the Mac with CS 5 and also new to this program.

Try switching the color management from "Photoshop Manages" to "Printer Manages" and back. This causes a reset of most of the "Print Settings" and will frequently resolve these problems.
If that doesn't work, try resetting your preferences and printing a new document (not an existing document that you have printed before), since the Print Settings are saved both in the document and in the application preferences.
We don't (yet) have an R3000 in house to test against, so I can't offer more than that, but there's one on order, so if you still have problems, hopefully we'll know if there's something specific to that printer or its driver pretty soon.

  • Selected print size will not fit current paper size

I am new to iPhoto and I keep getting the following message when I try to print at home - "selected print size will not fit current paper size" - I don't understand this. I am printing to 4x6 photo paper. I have chose 4x6 under paper and I have chosen 4x6 under print. It seems to want to fit the photo horizontally instead of vertically - I can work around this by choosing to print 3x5 onto 4x6 paper, but then the border is quite large.
    I hope this makes sense.
Thanks for any help regarding this issue.

Does your printer driver support 4x6 borderless printing?
You have to make sure your printer has a borderless driver ( the Epsons have two, a regular and one with Borderless-sheet feeder in the title and both must be installed and selectable under the Printer menu. If it's a Canon then you must be sure you select 4x6 borderless under the Paper size. Here's a step by step workflow you can try:
Steps for printing 4 x 6 prints from iPhoto:
crop the photo to 4 x 6 in iPhoto.
select the picture you want to print and type Command-P.
*click on the Advanced button in iPhoto's print pane.
    *select your Printer and Presets
*select "Paper Handling" in the Copies & Pages menu.
*in the Destination Paper Size section select "Scale to fit paper size: and select the paper size in the menu.
    *click on the Standard button.
in the iPhoto print pane select your printer, Presets and Paper size.
    select Standard Prints under Style.
select print size in the Size menu and check the "One photo per page: checkbox.
    click on the Print button
*These steps may be redundant but might correct those situations where the paper size selected in the iPhoto print pane does not seem to take.
    What printer do you have?

  • Print Window will not show - freezes whole application

I have a mac mini running tiger which will not print in ANY application. When I click file>print, the print window will not come out and the application freezes, and I have to force quit it. This happens in every application when I try to print.
Other macs connected to the same printer will print successfully, but the mac mini will not. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!

    Great news!
but I skipped the last step (repair permissions after booting from the HD), because I did that step when I booted from the CD's disc utility
Well, DU picks up what the Permissions are from the Disk it's booted from, so though doing it from the Install DVD might get most right, it really needs to be done from the HD.
PS. Depending on the version of 10.4 on the Install Disk, it MAY read them from the HD's Library>Receipts>PKGs, but it's never been cleared up as to what version that might be.
Might let us know if some Permissions were changed if you decide to do it from the HD.

  • HP LaserJet 1536dnf MFP will not copy or scan but does print

My HP LaserJet 1536dnf MFP will not copy or scan but does print.  It does not matter if I use the ADF or the glass.  When copying or scanning I get a completey black page.  The light bar does move from one end of the printer glass to the other.  There are no connectivity issues as the printing function and the e-print function work fine.
    Thank you for your help

    Hi @akb3,
I understand that when you try to scan or copy, you are getting a black page. I can help you with this.
Please keep the scanner lid open and then press the copy button.
Check if the scanner bulb glows.
Check if the scanner moves freely across the glass.
If it does not try connecting the printer directly to the wall jack and try again.
Update the printer's firmware if the bulb glows and scanner moves freely. HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer Drivers.
