My new iMac computer won't read my Canon 550D camera? Please help.

I am trying to transfer my photo's from my Canon EOS 550D to my new 21.5" iMac but when I plug my camera into my computer, via USB chord, it just says "No camera found". I have installed the Mac compatible software onto my computer that came with my camera. This software included the following:
Camera Window
Canon MOV Decoder
Canon MOV Encoder
Digital Photo Professional
EOS Utility
Image Browser
Movie Uploader for YouTube
PhotoStitch
Picture Style Editor
I am a Photography student and I am becoming very frustrated with the fact I can't do anything with my photo's as I bought the iMac soley for Photography and Music.
Can someone please help me solve this problem.
Cheers,
G.

Re: CANON 550D not displayed on iMac - how import movies in Final Cut Expre     Apr 9, 2010 6:01 PM    (in response to BPLK)
The Canon EOS Utility should enable you to download both stills +and video+ from your 550D.
I don't think you will see the camera on the desktop or in the Finder (My Canon cameras never show up on the desktop or Finder when I connect & download, but Image Capture and iPhoto both communicate with the camera and download images & video. I never installed the Canon utility.)
The EOS Utility should see the camera and from there you should be able to download stills and video to your hard drive. +Is this working or not?+

  • What to buy? New imac or MacPro/Apogee? Does anyone know? Please help!

So I'm running Logic Pro & Pro Tools.
    I use a
    15' MacBook Pro
    Universal Audio LA-610 Mic Pre
    Yamaha MSP7 Speakers & Sub
    Digidesign 003 Factory on order.
I keep getting Core Audio "Disk too slow or System Overload".
    (Example-On a 23 audio track session).
I want add to my setup so I don't get so many latency issues and this problem on bigger sessions.
Where do I spend the money?
I was Looking at the new imacs? The 24" 2.8GHz or should I go a MacPro?
I wanted to buy a bigger screen too. So maybe I spend a little more money and get a whole new computer for my studio instead of using my MacBook Pro.
Or just buy a bigger screen and spend the money on memory?
Do I spend it on Apogee? If so what should I buy?
Can someone please give me some Pro advice?
    Thanks guys, really appreciate it.
    Troy

    Thanks guys.
    Well I have some external hard drives OWC/Lacie etc 400 & 800.
    I have that setup going.
I'm basically recording my solo album and also getting into more TV spots & Trailer/Film music.
    Using Stylus/Ivory/Philharmonic strings etc....
So I'm doing what they say and recording to external drives.
I guess the imac isn't a good option as I need to be able to update my system.
To start to get into more of a Pro Arena should I look at the Apogee Symphony mobile setup or the Ensemble?
    More memory?
What else is going to give me the power to make this music without getting inot latency & coreaudio problems?
    Really appreciate the help guys!

Because the Nano was previous synced to another comuter/iTunes library.

    No.
One of you create a new AppleID and one use the existing AppleID.
But you can still use the items in each iTunes library.
Create separate computer logins for each of you.
This will give you each your own data. Contacts, calendars, photos, etc. (and your own iTunes library).

  • How do I transfer the music from my iPod to my new IMac computer (95% of the music on it is from CD's I own)?

How do I transfer the music from my IPod to my new IMac computer?  I just changed from a PC to IMac. 95% of the music on it is from CD's I own and the ITunes on the new IMac is only recongnizing the ones I bought off of ITunes.

That is correct.  The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

"If you have a previous version, you cannot swap to a different platform or language of the previous version. Instead, it's necessary to upgrade."
    What Curt Y said.
Since CS5 and been superseded by CS6 (and now version CC in the Cloud), your options are
to crossgrade to CS6 (which is still available to purchase), or
join the Cloud and get Photoshop CC.

  • I can't find my music in iCloud, just got a new iMac computer, was using Windows before.

    Hello,
I recently purchased a new iMac computer and have not been able to access my music in iCloud.  I am an old me.com member and understand they have kept me at the upgraded storage, which is great, but have not been able to access my music.  Where is it?

Are you referring to iTunes Match, if so that would be found in iTunes.

  • Firefox is about 80 percent downloaded onto my new iMac computer and will not finish.

I have a new iMac computer and tried to download Firefox. It downloaded about 80 percent and stopped. what should i do?

Are you updating or downloading the full version?
If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
    * Firefox 7.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded

  • Why can't I get my apps off my iPhone to download to my new iMac computer?

Why can't I get my apps on my iPhone and iPad to transfer across to my new iMac computer?

    Becky ...
Apps that run on the iPhone and iPad are iOS based. Apps that run on your Mac are designed for the Mac OS X. Two different operating systems.
In other words, apps that run on your iPhone and iPad cannot run on your Mac and vice versa.

  • Can I use my Photoshop CS5 for Windows on my new iMac computer

I have a genuine Photoshop CS5 I bought for my old, not used,Windows7 64bit computer. Can aI get a transfer of my CS5 onto my new iMac computer.

License transfers are only possible for current versions. Refer to this:
Order an Adobe product platform swap or language swap
As a stopgap measure, you could install your Win 7 via Bootcamp and still use your PS on the Windows side...

  • HT1408 How do I transfer files from an external hard drive formerly connected to a PC to my new iMac computer?

How do I transfer document and photo files from an external hard drive formerly connected to my old PC into my new iMac computer?

There are several different ways to move data from your old PC to your iMac, including Manually Migrating at > Switch 101: Migrate your Windows files or system to your Mac
If you just want to move file's from your External HD, simply plug it into your iMac and drag your doc's to your Documents Folder and Import your photos into iPhoto.
