My new IPad Air will not rotate screen

My new ipad air will not rotate screens.  I am trying the lock or unlock but it makes no difference.

Check out this link for operation of the side switch:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
Also, pull up Control Center (swipe up from just above the Home button) and check the screen lock there (it should be at the top-left of the Control Center and looks like a padlock with a circular arrow).

    Try this:
    1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again
    2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    3. Reset iPad; hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo

Won't it accept it where? Did you go to Settings> iTunes & App Store>Apple ID, and sign in there?

  • HT2589 My new ipad air will not download apps or ask for my itunes account info when I do try to download or purchase an app.

Just added the new ipad air to my itunes account. When I go to purchase or download apps it will not ask for my itunes account info, a grey box appears on my main screen with "waiting" under it and in the "app store" it will show the app that i chose with a constant spinning circle. Any ideas?

The iCloud account has nothing to do with downloading apps over wireless, but if you do not have an iCloud account you can delete that account information if you want to do so.  Do you have other use of WiFi with the iPad?  It is connecting and working correctly for email and such?
You could try going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings and then re-select the WiFi network and enter the password again...then do a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.
All of that may clear problems of a minor nature.

  • New iPad Air will not open some of my Numbers docs, yet open others

I am trying to shift some of my Numbers docs to my iPad Air.  I have used both iCloud and Dropbox.  Some will open, others don't.  I thought it was just the newer docs doe with the new Numbers, and only older docs worked, but I now find the inconsistency in both (knowing older docs are upgraded to the new desktop Numbers software.  Does it have anything to do with the iPad Numbers icon showing as "Beta?"
    Numbers 5, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Probably.  Why do you have a Numbers Beta?  The current Numbers version is 2.0.1, and was released on November 21.  (I am talking about the Numbers on your iPad.)
I assume you see Numbers Beta on your iPad.

  • My new iPad Air will not let me download any apps from the apple store?

I also tried syncing to my iMac and that didn't help either

Did you set up a credit card when you activated your iPad?  A credit needs to be in your Apple ID on the device for you to be able to download apps, even free ones.

  • HT1386 iPad Air will not sync; message appears that sync server failed to sync the iPad

New iPad Air will not sync contacts and calendars to Outlook.  Set up device in December, tried to sync today, Feb. 8th, after updating to iTunes 11.1.4.62; message appeared that iTunes could not sync contacts to the iPad because the sync server failed to sync the iPad.  Uninstalled 11.1.4.62 and installed 11.1.3.8 and still would not sync.  Synced an earlier generation iPad about 2 hrs. earlier today.  What do I need to do?

I'm having a similar problem ... just used my iPad 2 to purchase the Bourne trilogy and it downloaded fine but I did not try to play it right away.  Then I plugged the iPad into the computer and it downloaded the SD versions of the movie and I used iTunes to sync my movies.  Then I tried to play it and it said it could not open the movie.  I then did a full iPad restore and did a fresh sync and now I get the Cannot Opne pop up.  Did you ever find an answer to your question?

  • My iPad air will not charge connected to my monitor or my computer. Why?

My iPad air will not charge connected to my monitor or my computer. Why?

Short answer:  Computer USB ports don't deliver as much power as the power adapter that comes with the iPad.
    Details:
Full size iPads come with either a 10W or 12W power adapter.  The mini comes with a 5W power adapter.
See iPhone, iPad, iPod: Using iPad Power Adapters
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4327
    USB ports on computers deliver 2.5W (USB 2, 500mA x 5v) or 4.5W (USB 3, 900mA x 5v).
Newer Macs with high power ports can deliver 5.5W (1100mA x 5v).
See Apple Computers and Displays: Powering peripherals through USB
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4049
If you connect your (full size) iPad to a computer USB port, it may charge slowly, but since it's getting less than half the normal charging power, it may say "not charging".  It may charge slowly or it may not depending on use (screen brightness, processor load, etc.).  If you really want to charge it from the computer, put the iPad to sleep.
The best charging solution is to use the Power Adapter that came with the iPad.

  • New iPad 3 will not charge from a mac. need help on that

my new ipad 3 will not charge from a mac. need help why if any one knows? thk

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • My new iPad mini will not activate. What could be wrong?

My new iPad mini will not activate.  Tried restarting the iPad with no luck.  What else can I try?

On your computer, go to http://www.apple.com/itunes and download the current version (11.0.1).
Your iTunes 10.6.3 is old and cannot support a new iPad running iOS 6.
It is possible your computer is too old to support iTunes 11.  That could be the reason for the message that 10.6.3 is the current version.  In fact, it is not current and insufficient to support your new iPad.
    Good luck.

  • My new iPad mini will not charge when plugged into adapter. Any suggestions?

my new ipad mini will not charge when plugged into adapter. What should I try?

Does the charger get warm at all? Plug the cable into your computer with iTunes open. Does it say not charging.? If it does, the cable is good. The iPad will charge very slowly when pluged into your computer.
