My new Iphone 4s went black, and will not do anything. It was never dropped or anything like that. Any ideas?

My iphone 4S went black and will not do anything. It was in my hand when it happened. It is 14 days hold, and has not had nay other problems. Anyone know whats up?

Is the phone charged? Did you try connecting it to a charger? Try a reset of the phone, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release, ignoring the slide to power off screen if it appears. This will restart the phone and will not have any affect on your data. See if that takes care of it.

I have had two Iphone 4 phones and they both have randomly gone black and not come back on. On my current phone my sleep button is jammed so any advice i have seen from people doesnt work for me. I am in the middle of planning a wedding and need help desperately

Charge with the mains charger for 15 minutes, then disconnect and hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).

  • My iphone 4 screen went black and will not come back on, the screen lights up but is still black and will not show anything on the screen, it still vibrates though. help

my iphone 4 screen went black and will not show anything on it, the phone still vibrates and lights up but the screen is black, HELP.

I have a similar problem.  I restored my iPhone 5 to the latest available OS.  After completing the process the phone never restarted.  The phone was fully charged when I restored it but now refuses to charge past the red battery icon.  I have been able to get the phone in UFD mode several times and have been able to load the new OS on the phone.  The Apple logo does come on and the software fully loads.  iTunes tells me the phone will restart but never does.  I left it to charge all night but it never appeared to load the battery.  This morning I went to the Grand Central Terminal apple store for help.  A woman at the store plugged the phone in but it never charged.  She absolutely refused to believe that I got my phone in UFD mode and loaded any software on.  I don't think it is a battery issue.  The only solution I was given was to buy a new phone.  Repairing it was out of the question.  At this point the phone is completely useless.  Thanks in advance for the help.

  • My iPad just went black and will not start. It has not been dropped, nor has it been wet. What do I need to do?

My iPad just went black and will not start. It has not been dropped, nor has it been wet. I am very careful with it. What do I do now?

Plug it into an electrical outlet let it sit a few minutes. Then try performing a hard reset, by holding the home button and the lock buttons at the same time until an apple logo appears.

  • My iphone 4 screen just went black and will not come back on, I can connect it and charge it and it makes noise but no screen?

What does it mean when your screen just goes black and will not turn back on? I can connect it to computer to charge and it recognizes it and charges it but no picture on screen.

    Hey Krkirst10,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like you may have a hardware issue with your device, however let's try to isolate as much as possible to determine if that is so. To isolate the issue, follow the regular troubleshooting steps for power issues:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
    1. Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
    2. Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion.
    Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
    3. Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
    4. After at least 30 minutes, if:
                   - The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
                   - The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
                   - Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
    5. If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
                   - If the display turns on, go to step 4.
                   - If the display remains black, go to next step.
    6. Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
    7. If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

  • My iphone went black and will not turn on past the apple logo

iphone went black and wont turn on past apple logo

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again?
If this does not work, connect in recovery mode and restore, explained here:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device

  • I was getting the update to the new software update and it started installing then the iphone 5s went black and has not come on since..

any suggestions to get the phone up and running hard reset has not worked plugged to intunes and not even registering...and y way to get the phone back up to finsh the update..

I actually figured this out by myself. lol
If you hold down shift while pressing the "restore Iphone" button on Itunes it gives you the option to restore from anywhere you want to. So I went into my Itunes folder under AppData and Iphone Software backup and I restored my iphone from a backup. I'm selling my Iphone 4 right now and buying an HTC One or an LG G2.

  • New iphone 4s shut off and will not turn on or charge

I just upgraded to an iphone 4s yesterday. I installed 6 OS last night. Woke up this morning and took 5 pictures of my kids and sent a text. I went back a few hours later to check for return text and the phone is not responding. I have tried plugging it into my laptop (apple), I have tried plugging it into the wall plug, I have tried plugging it into my car charger. It's not turning on. This is my first smart phone and I have many apple products (2 ipads, macbook, ipod touch 4th gen, and now the iphone) and have not ran into this problem yet. It has not been touched except by me. It has either sat on my desk (sturdy wood) or my counter.
I now have no phone. And I cannot call Verizon because I do not have a house phone. lol Any suggestions besides take it back to Verizon tomorrow?

Oh wow dmcalgaro! No phone is no good! Since posting did you get your issue resolved? Just like a computer, your phone needs to be rebooted every once in a while. As a great Apple consumer, I am sure that you know this. Also, it does take about 10-15 minutes to charge the device on a wall charger before the battery indicator (showing red and low battery) even comes on. Please try this and when the device does come back on, I would getting into the practice of closing out your apps every so often. Just double tap the home button and press and hold each app to close. When they start wiggling, simply click on the minus sign to close. This will help prevent this from happening in the future.
    Thanks and keep us posted!

  • HT1349 My one week old iphone 4S went dead and will not turn on even by plugging into wall outlet or MacBook Pro, besides taking back to Verizon is there anything I can do?

I have a week old Verizon iPhone 4S and it went dead and I have tried plugging into the wall outlet and into a MacBook Pro and pushed all the buttons but nothing. Besides taking back to Verizon is there anything I can do?

Thanks. I also found that holding the home button and on/ off button at same time for 15 seconds turned it back on.

  • Z10 screen went black and will not reboot

My wife updated her Verizon Z10 about a week ago and since then she's encounter a couple of times where the screen would go black and she'd have to do a battery pull to reset the device. With this morning's latest epsiode, pulling the battery did not work. I can't get it to reboot, nor can I seem to reinstall the device software. The red light will come on briefly and nothing else.
I checked the BTSC and have not found anything regarding this issue. Unfortunately, she did not back up her device and BB protect no longer provides this option so she lost some key documents. At this point, I'm hoping there is a way to salvage the device but it's not looking good.

I tried both suggestions and was unable to revive the device. I certainly appreciate your help!
Hmmm...well, the first test (4h15m) is one to see if you can revive your device with it's same battery. But the 2nd test (battery swap) is intended to determine if the battery or the device might be causal to the problem.
Unfortunately, from your report, I cannot determine the precise result of the 2nd test. Your report might mean that your device did not work with that other "known good" battery...but it gives no hint of what happened with the other device using your battery. The complete result would be more useful in understanding what is happening in your situation. It may well be that your device is truly dead...but, from the information available here, I cannot come to that conclusion.

Is there a way for me to reload the OS (maybe an earlier build) so that I can salvage the device? I've been reading about an Autoloader. Not sure if that will work as my device is unresponsive.
If the device will not run, then it cannot interact with the computer via USB. If it cannot interact with the computer via USB, then there is no way for the computer to load the OS to it.
Further, AutoLoaders are 100% destructive to any data residing on the device...so if your intent is to salvage data (rather than salvage the device), then an AutoLoader is not the right choice, even if it could be run (which, from what you describe, it cannot).
Good luck and let us know!

Daughter's screen went black and will not reboot what do we do

Restore the iOS without restoriing a backup
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
Note that if the phone was ever jailbroken, this may not work.
