My new iPhone screen

Hello!
A few days ago the screen of my iPhone started to show lines and different colors when I turn it on. When, finally, the iPhone was on, the quality of the image was very poor, it look like it hasn't enough power to show the full image quality.
Sometimes, I have got the screen to work by beating softly the iPhone, but more of the times it doesn't work.
More of the times the screen will just stay totally white and it only will work if I connect it to the dock.
I try everything I have found: reset, restore, update... but no luck.
My opinion is that there must be a bad connection somewhere inside the device and I'm sure if could bring it to an Apple Store I should get a replace iPhone, but, nowadays, that's impossible...
A made a video of what I am trying to explain:
http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=WWqsQNkIV_g
Have anyone had the same issue?
Do you think It is just a cable or it's something else?
Thank you

apple do have stores in the UK and they do lend you a iphone to replace your one while they analyze the problem with your iphone. i would say as it is the screen they would prob just give you a new iphone rather than fixing it?
look for your nearest store...

  • ITunes will not go past "Welcome to Your New iPhone" screen after multiple attempts of restoring old data of iPhone 5s.

    Hello,
I'm really sorry if this is posted in the wrong place...
So just yesterday, I decided to update my iPhone 5s to the new iOS, 8.1.1 but I did not have any room on my phone due to most of the storage being taken up by "other". I backed up my phone onto iTunes and proceeded to restore the phone to its factory settings. Aftewards, the new iOS was presumably loaded onto my phone through iTunes. When my phone restarted, I clicked "Restore from this backup" and continued. It reloads again and I open my phone and went through the settings. When I got back to what I normally saw, all of the apps but one were gone. My backgrounds, contacts, and photos were there, but my music was gone. I looked back onto iTunes and the "Welcome to Your New iPhone" screen was there again. I restored it to my back up once again, but to no avail. I can't get past the Welcome screen. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm afraid that if I restore again I'll lose the apps I reloaded onto my phone once again.

No. You have no alternative but to plug it into a computer running iTunes and restore it.

  • How to get past the Welcome to Your New iPhone Screen?

I recently locked myself out of my iPhone 4S. I decided to backup the phone and try to restore it in order to bypass the lock screen. Now that the iPhone has been wiped, I'm stuck at the Welcome to your new iPhone screen. I have the option to set up as a new iPhone, and restore from backup. After choosing restore from backup, it restores my phone, but the welcome to your new iPhone screen shows up again no matter what I do. Closing iTunes and turning the phone on and off has no results. I currently cannot add new apps, music, movies, anything....via iTunes. Help?

I also had this problem. Read these instructions CAREFULLY before taking action, or everything will be ruined. To get past this screen, select Set Up New iPhone.  After that, it will bring you to the iTunes store screen. At the top of the screen there will be a loading bar. At the end of the bar, there should be an x for cancel. Press it, and it will stop iTunes from deleting all of your data. It will no longer bring you back to the welcome screen once you have done this.

  • "Welcome to your new iPhone" screen for activated phone

Today I had to exchange my iPhone 3G for the second time. That isn't a gripe, I'm thrilled Apple has been so responsive and flexible in working with me. (The issue had to do with a short in the headphone jack that would cause the unit to begin to play music when headphones were plugged in and sometimes unplugged, even on a locked/sleeping phone. Apple swapped them out no problem. I love these guys!)
I'm on my third phone. However, every time I plug in my phone, in iTunes, I get the "Welcome to your new iPhone" window with the "Continue" button. When I click it, it takes me to the normal iTunes window looking at the settings for my phone. But the thing is, it does this every time I plug in phone.
Any ideas? Some kind of cache or pref to clear/reset?
Another odd thing. The Genius said that the OS on the phone he was giving me was a newer build than on the phone I had turned in. But when I look at the build number and the build number of the one you can download they are the same. Was there a different build preinstalled on some 3Gs than on others or what was downloaded via iTunes for a restore?

For whatever weird reason, updating iTunes to 7.7.1 did the trick. It must have been some pref or cache thing that was overwritten with the update. While the question wasn't answered I guess it is fixed.
I'd still be curious to know about that build version difference the Genius mentioned.

  • When trying to sync iPhone 6 with existing library, iTunes shows "Welcome to new iPhone" screen

I have previously accepted defeat and synced with an older backup in order to save some previously saved stuff, but this didn't help the next time I tried to sync it. I don't want to sync as new iPhone to erase everything I have on it now, but not being able to sync with iTunes doesn't let me have any of my store music on it. Any tips on how to get iTunes to recognize my phone and let it sync without re-booting the entire phone?

007maha: from my experience, involving three hours of troubleshooting using Apple's tutorials, without help from Apple:
    1. Do the steps here to remove and reinstall all Apple software on your machine, "Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP," at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925.
    2. If you care, they don't tell you or ask you to uninstall MobileMe in those steps.
    3. After I did as they wrote to do, iTunes wouldn't recognize either my iPhone or iPad. On my own I found that Applie's software reinstallation failed to install the Apple Mobile Device Software Driver. So I followed the steps at, "iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows," which took me 25 minutes alone to find. See http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
Those steps solved everything and iTunes is now back to normal.

  • New iphone screen

I just purchased a replacement iPhone for my old one purchased in July.
The new one has a disgusting screen. It's yellow and far worse quality than my initial phone's.
I know there were 5 and 7 series now. My first was a 5 series and the new ones are all 7's I believe. I also have read about the negative black issue. My blacks seem "ok" (the previous phone was better. The new phone has better build quality but there is no question that the july phone had a FAR better display. Should I exchange? Are they all like this now?

I just bought a new 8GB iPhone to upgrade from my original 4GB model.
My 8GB iPhone display is definitely poor in comparison to my 4GB and they're BOTH "7 Screens".
The new 8GB has a yellow-ish tint to the white areas and the general clarity of icons and graphics are less distinct.
It appears brighter in a bad way and much more washed out. After playing with all the settings and confirming the disparity with others in my household, I am sure the difference is not merely perception.
Also on top of the phone number dial pad, I can see pattern or design details that look like zig zags in the dark blue area. I can NOT see this pattern in the 4GB model. This is the 2nd confirmed difference in displays/screen quality.
Is it a minor detail? Yes. And no. I am concerned about the long-term QUALITY and durability of a potentially defective piece of the iPhone hardware.
For the money spent on the device(s) and services I feel my concerns are warranted and worth mentioning.
Any advice from others out there? I've seen the 5 vs. 7 screen version debates but since both mine are 7's I am unsure what to do next.
    Any suggestions are welcomed.
    Thanks,
    ::LL::

  • When syncing itunes starts always with "welcome to your new iphone" screen.

and i have to press continue button to continue. i did change the sim card on the phone since activating the phone, could that be the problem and how do i convince itunes that the iphone is not THAT new that it has to continue welcoming me...

it resolved itself after a 2nd restart of the iphone

  • New iPhone, screen won't rotate NOT LOCKED

My dad just bought the iPhone 5 literally 20 minutes ago. The orientation of his screen is stuck on landscape and will not change.
1- The screen settings is NOT locked. Again it is unlocked
2- we have already tried holding down the power button and home key at once
We've tried everything and its getting very frustrating. Please help

You say the screen settings are not locked. I know they will not lock like that, however have you tried toggling the lock on and back off again?
You say that you tried holding down the power key and the home key at once, called a reset. Did the phone screen go dark, then the Apple logo come up and then the phone restart? Did you only do this the one time?
If these things are not working, since you say you just purchased it, I would return the device, as something appears to be wrong with the gyro, since you cannot get it to correct out of landscape mode.

  • If I bring my own new iPhone screen to apple will they install it?

If I bring my own iPhone 4 screen will they replace it for me or do I have to buy the screen there?

absolutely not.  Apple doesn't repair phones, they replace them.  You can get your entire phone replaced for $149, but they will NOT replace your screen.

  • I restored from iTunes backup but it goes back to 'welcome to your new iphone'

My iphone 5 was replaced today because of a faulty power button. I had done an iTunes backup this morning, choosing to backup iTunes purchases and the apps as well.
In order to restore the backup to my new phone I had to set it up as a new phone and update to 7.1.2. All good so far.
I then chose to restore from backup (dated today) and it all seemed fine until the restore was complete and the iphone restarted and I was taken back to the 'Welcome to Your New iPhone' screen. Thankfully my photos and contacts have come across but none of my iTunes library, emails or most of my apps. What I'd really like to retrieve are the notes I had in Notemaster...lots of important details about trip bookings, finances etc.
I suspect an incomplete/corrupt backup was made this morning as I think I'd used about 47gb on my phone and the backup file in my application support folder is 11.8gb (although I don't imagine that folder would include all the video & music from my iTunes library??). I thought I could go back to the backup I made in June but it looks like it was overwritten by the new backup I made today...is that right?
Can anyone please suggest a fix or am I going to have to set it up as a new phone in order to get past the 'welcome to your new iphone' screen. First I'd somehow have to back up all my photos and contacts or I'll probably lose them.
Actually, I've just downloaded iBackupBot and I can see all my notes in the backup I made this morning so they do still exist even though the app didn't download in the restore, in fact it looks like a lot of my user app files are there. What do I do now? My head hurts h e l p . . . p l e a s e

I don't think that you need to restore from the backup again. If you see nothing at all in the App Store. Try closing the app completely, reset your iPad and them try again.
In order to close apps in iOS 7, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • "Welcome to your new iPhone" - every sync

This is a response to an old post on another discussion, but that discussion has now been archived and no longer permits replies.
    Issue in old post was:
*I just had my phone swapped out at an Apple store for a replacement.*
*Everthing backed up to the new phone OK but every time I plug in my phone, in iTunes, I get the "Welcome to your new iPhone" window with the "Continue" button. When I click it, it takes me to the normal iTunes window looking at the settings for my phone. It does this every time I plug in phone.*
I had the same issue with my replacement iPhone. Solution (for me anyway) is to quit iTunes with the iPhone connected, and then reopen iTunes. The same 'Welcome to your new iPhone' screen appears, however with two extra buttons 'Never Register' and 'Register Later'. Clicking on 'Never Register' solves the issue and the 'Welcome' screen no longer appears repeatedly.
Hope that helps anybody searching for a solution to this problem.

happened with me and was resolved automatically after re-connecting it 10-15 times..
when clicked on continue takes you to the registration page where you need to fill the details and it gets registered.
and the new iphone startup page doesn't show up anymore...

  • HT1766 getting a welcome to your new iphone message when I try to back up an old phone

    Hi,
My iPhone stopped working earlier this year and I got it replaced with a new one at the Apple store. I haven't backed it up since. So, I'm trying to back up from my iTunes now and it gives me two options: 1) Set up as new iPhone, and 2) Restore from this backup (MY NAME iPhone). The second option says last backed up 2/20/12. Thing is, I don't remember ever backing up this iPhone. More importantly, I've taken many pictures and added many phone numbers since 2/20/12 and am afraid restoring will erase this.
I've never been a savvy iPhone user so hopefully someone can help advise me on how best to proceed.

I have a very similar problem. I have an iPhone 4 running an old iOS 4.2.1. I very recently upgraded to iTunes 11. I am not sure which version of iTunes I was running before, but it probably was not the most recent. I did not sync or do a backup, before upgrading to iTunes 11. After upgrading to iTunes 11, when I plug in my iPhone 4, I get a "Welcome to your New iPhone" screen. I only am presented with two options. 1.) Set up as new iPhone, or 2.) Restore from this backup: Unknown. Last Backed Up: 12/31/2000 7:00PM. There is a radio button to choose either option, and a Continue button. I am afraid to choose either option, because I'm afraid it will wipe my iPhone 4 clean.
It's odd because I don't think they even made iPhones in 2000. So, I'm not sure where this unknown backup from December 2000 is coming form. Also, I am pretty sure I did not sync my iPhone 4 to iTunes, nor did I do a back up of my iPhone in iTunes, before upgrading to iTunes 11.
Now, there is not too much on my iPhone 4 I'm concerned about saving. I did manage to pull off all the photos using Windows Vista Autoplay. But, there are quite a few contacts on my iPhone that I would like to save. And I have some newer Apps that I would like to save.... these apps were free, but some of them are no longer available in the App Store.
Some other info.... after updgrading to iTunes 11, iTunes does show 50 Apps in the library. These appear to be apps from some much earlier sync prior to upgrading to iTunes 11.
My problem is I sync very rarely.... I also update my iOS very rarely.... and I also update the iTunes software very rarely. I got to a point where some newer apps I wanted would only run on a newer iOS. But it seems I got to a point where I could also no longer update my iOS without updating the iTunes version. So, my plan was to update to iTunes 11 (which I did), then update my iPhone iOS (which I haven't been able to accomplish yet), because I want to sync my iPhone with the new iTunes 11, to be able to get off my contacts and newer apps. But I can't to that because iTunes 11 will only show me the "Welome to Your New iPhone" screen.
Again, I'd like to get my contacts and newer apps off the phone into iTunes. If I then have to wipe the iPhone clean and restore, that would be OK.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Which carrier are you on?

  • Iphone screen wont come on at all?

Looking for advice please... my fairly new Iphone screen will not come on at all.
I did not drop it, abuse it or hit it. It was working, a coworker came to talk to me, I stopped my music and when I tried to start it again, it would not come on. I pulled out the phone and noticed when I hit the button on the headphones it would not light up screen. I tried the button on the phone but it also does not work.
A friend called me maybe 20 minutes later and Whew it came on but when we hung up, it would not longer come on after! I plugged it on the USB port a good 20 times, called myself from an internet phone and it just won't come back on, argh!
I removed the screen protector and the sleeve it's in but it still will not come on. I removed the SIM card, etc etc etc but no matter what I do there is no life on the screen. If I call from the web, it does ring but that's it.
Would anyone have any ideas for me? I have no home phone and the sim card will no longer work in my old phone leaving me phone less. I actually had to drive to a payphone to call a friend, bleh ....
I hope this is covered by warranty, the limited warranty thankfully seems to cover this since it appears to be a mechanical defect of the phone itself.
    Thanks in advance,
    Phil

If you have a case on it, try it without the case.
Have you tried basic troubleshooting as per the manual?
    Page 34
"If something is not working right, restarting or resetting iPhone will likely solve the
    problem.
Restart iPhone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and
hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
Reset iPhone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the
same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
For more troubleshooting suggestions, see Appendix A, “Troubleshooting,” on page 131. "
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_UserGuide.pdf
Of course the warranty covers this.

  • Brand New Iphone 5s Home Screen display defect

Here goes my ordeal with my Iphone 5s upgrade
After waiting in line for over an hour I purchased the Iphone 5s yesterday at Best Buy (Stonebriar, Frisco, TX). Later that evening, I noticed that when the time was 5:36, the home screen display was not showing the digit 6. Instead it showed a blur. I then changed the time manually to 6:36 and then to 6:43 and each time there was a digit 6 the display showed a blur instead. I must note that the phone was sitting in the grass which was a little moist (which I believe was the causing the issue). I immediately went back to the Best Buy location where I purchased the phone and requested a replacement after showing the defect. The store manager wanted me to wait in the line and I refused to do so (they sold me a defective phone so I did not see a reason why I had to go in that line all over again when it was just a replacement!). Anyways, after a tiff with the manager I left that store with my defective phone.
Next day, I went to the Apple store (Willowbend mall, Plano). I was greeted by genteleman at the entrance of the store who nicely asked if he could help. The moment I told him I suspected my new Iphone 5s was defective he said 'What!!' and made an expression of disbilief. Funny! I was asked to go to another peson who was standing and waving his hand further inside the store. I go to him and explain to him the problem and when I try to demonstrate it does not happen! Oh dear! Luckily I had enough screenshots in store and I showed them all to the store clerk.  He then tells me that he can take the phone in for me and get it 'repaired'! In disbilief I ask him if he meant 'Replaced'? He says no, they will try to repair it first - he further speculates saying they will try a restore or maybe a front glass replacement and that if they still can't fix it, Apple will then replace the phone. In exasperation I tried to explain to him that the problem happened yesterday and then today it can't doesn't seem to happen, while adding that it is a brand NEW phone I purchased less than 24 hours ago and that I still am under the 14 day time-frame. I explain to him kindly that I would not be able to verify the fix (Apple does a restore or even changes the glass and returns me the phone and I must believe that the problem was fixed?? - Hel No!) and its not so nice to hear from Apple that they can't take responsibility for a defective product. He kindly says sorry and explains that it is policy and that they have to try to repair first. Oh how I wish I could've gotten Apple to sign my policy document for my money...sigh..don't work like that! So I left Apple and ran across to Best Buy mobile store asking for a replacement. The guy says Best Buy mother store and Best Buy Mobile store keep there own stock during holidays and he can't help. Sweet! I drive down 10 miles and go to a different Best Buy 'Mother' store and of course I'm asked to stand in the line. I swallow my pride and become a part of the line. My turn comes and again I explain the problem and of course the Best Buy clerk says 'Did you try a restore?' What!! Anyways, after a bit of reasoning (cribbing) with a couple of Best Buy agents, I was able to get them to replace my Iphone 5s (and of course they didn't have a gold color so I had to settle for the space gray..not a big deal though as long as this one is not defective also!)
So anybody had this display issue? Issue with Apple customer service?
    Rs,
    GH

Well they offered to do everything they could to work with you on the device....You are right in saying that the offered what they 'could'. Unfortunately what they could was tied by company policy.
Just like being human there are times things just go wrong- 2 out 2 IPhones 5s in 2 days! I hope people are doing better :-p
You fought against people at the store level who have /zero/ control over policy and had their hands tied by what theri bosses tell them to do. Agreed. I left instead of fighting. Unfortunately they are the first line of support and a manager maybe as far I'd get. Would love to chat with Steve Jobs but I guess now there is only one way for that :-p
They not only rushed you to get service to repair the device but you didn't even do any troubleshooting of your own to try to repair it. Now what if a restore had fixed your issue, you would have kept your device, your color, and what you paid for... - I disagree. If you read my original post, the problem happened the same evening I bought the phone. When I went to Apple I was not able to reproduce the issue. So you tell me how do I verify that restore fixed it? Wait and watch? After 14 days I can't even return the phone. The other speculation made by the rep was changing the glass. I would not try that for obvious reasons.
Why /wouldn't/ you try to repair something before spending your gas/time to replace it the moment something is amiss.
    hmmm..
Now the 2nd new phone makes a rattling sound. Something is loose inside..I'd rather spend gas/time and return it than get them 'repair' it or give me a refurbished phone! Why? Because I can at this point and still get a new one with possibly no defects(fingers crossed) or I could find a company that makes better quality products :-p
