I think this is an excellent indicator that not only is Palm reviewing the feedback from the support forums here, but actively reviewing feedback/comments/wishes on other sites as well.

5% seems to be the sweep spot, so every other row of pixels is 5% darker.

I'm about to buy a 15" PB and nervous about the usual dead /hot pixel business. So this potential new problem is shocking news. However I have just come from a respected UK supplier and examined three PBs 2 15" (M9969) and 1 17" (M9970) and can confirm that the displays on these three are perfect. None of the banding effect you have shown or reported. I did get really close, and had a simple magnifier with me as well. Thanks for the screen shots you have provided, but these three were fine.
You must surely have a fault as (from your images) this clearly visible problem renders the display worthless.

My new iPhone6 has vibration disfunction problem. I check setting and reset the phone but is still unworkable.

I missed 10 calls at least when I was watching movie in theater because I turned the sound off and vibration on. So I just found that its vibration function is unworkable. HELP! I have a new mac book pro and I'm having problems getting it to print. We are trying to do it through the network (wireless). It keeps pausing or telling me the connection failed

Ok. I have a new macbookpro which I love. However, we can't get it to print. We just got Comcast with a modem and wireless router. We can all get into the net wirelessly (4 of us). My son set our PC to share the printer, gave it a name and got his PC to work through it. Mine kept pausing (it's been a week now). Finally connected directly to the printer and it immediately went out and found the drivers (for all HP photosmart series) and installed them (I think they are installed. At least they are listed under drivers in the print/fax section). We then did a test print with it hooked up and it worked. Back to wireless and it keeps pausing or telling me it can no longer communicate with the printer. Tried going back and printing while connected to the cable and it didn't work. Several pages of one liners with gibberish on it (some words like fax, document it) but then it failed. I did tell it the wrong model of printer the other day and there is a picture of it under the real printer (which is listed by the name we gave it on my pc). But I know have the correct driver and it shows it in the bar under the driver listing. The other picture of the wrong model is not highlighted and I don't know how to delete it). It just keeps pausing and telling me I'm no longer connected to the printer. BTW, It tells me the printer is ready and shows the name prior to trying to print. We've tried everything including many suggestions from others. Any suggestions? I find it strange I was able to print yesterday while connected directly and tonight it failed (otherwise the printer is working for others). THANKS SO MUCH! Frustrating to say the least but I'm NOT giving up. Carol

I should add that it's an HP photosmart 4280.I found it online and it shows the Mac 0SX operating system.

Hello Firefox,
I am having problems with my Firefox's image processor I believe. My web browser is fine but then a few minutes later I get some weird look on my page. It then just stays here and I can't fix it. When I go to Yahoo all the links and images do not look normal. I really cannot explain this and wish I could send a picture instead. When I go to the Log in page for Facebook I do not see the image of the small faces networking around the world. It's blank and the links are widely spread apart. With YouTube the page is also distorted. Nothing is arranged properly. I can watch videos. However when I go to someone's profile or a playlist videos cannot play or show up. It says I need to update my Java player and it is already updated. It still happens when I uninstall and re install back. I was only able to fix this problem by uninstalling everything related to Firefox. I do not know how to solve this any other way. I don't like it when all my information is lost such as saved passwords and bookmarks. If there is any way to solve this thanks. I don't want to uninstall this again.

Loaded itunes 10.6 to new Windows 7 and get black screens in Stores. Albume covers are OK but all print is very light gray that cannot be read.

Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Not Working ! External Hub Has No Lights

In the device manager it shows 'multimedia audio controller' with a yellow '?' and '!' through it and when you click properties it says 'driver not installed'. I just installed the new driver pack w/ audio console from the creative site!!! What's going on?! I have no sound and no lights on my external hub! A little frustrating... any help would be appreicated. Thanks
The sound card itself seems to be working and songs can be played however the external hub has no lights and seems non-functional. I've tried it in several different pci slots. Is the hub supposed to light up upon bootup or do you have to turn it on with the remote? I think the remote battery may be dead but there should be some kind of lights on the hub unit once the pc is booted... Both AD.Link Cables are connected so this thing should be working..

Thank you for your help. It seems as if there is no power whatsoever, although the ad.link cables & 2 are both hooked up. Perhaps faulty cables or hub? Is there anything else that needs to be hooked up?Both were factory fresh before installation... I am unable to fix the driver issue using normal methods. HT1351 I bought a few songs and I have my ipod set up to manually sync. When I am trying to sync the songs they appear on my ipod in a lighter gray font color than the other songs and an error msg appers saying they cant be synced and to ask support.

When i bought songs and tried to manually upload them onto my ipod they appeared on my ipod in a lighter gray font than my other songs and an error message appeared saying to see apple support. i cannot delete the lighter gray songs from my ipod list or play them on my ipod, only itunes.

You got the new iphone????? I have same problem. I transferred audiobooks to device to find no audiobooks on device (despite it being in iTunes as if it was). Have you found a solution????? I even tried to change import settings on format transfer but hasn't worked.

Gray vertical line on crop

Hello! I imported a .mov clip that was shot on green screen. I cropped the clip on the left to remove some of the "non-green" elements. When I do a preview I see a light gray vertical line where I did the crop. Not sure what's going on there. Any ideas?

I have seen this efect before and I don't recall there being a solution given. You might try using a B-Spline or Bezier mask to mask out the elements on the left instead of cropping. I have had good luck with that.

Think Apple-ish light grays and shadows...
I would like to get an opinion here from someone in the know as I am much more of digital guy than print.
1) What is the lightest gray I can work with that would print well?
When setting up the CMYK color should I simply set it at say 10% 10% 10% 10% or is there some better mixture for light gray gradients. i.e. slightly blue for example, or rich black mixture.
2) When creating the gradients in illustrator, should I go from the gray to transparent or is it better to set up a gray to white gradient?
Finally,
When creating my supporting images with the shadows and gradients, would it be best just to create them in Photoshop and place them in my illustrator document and leave Illustrator for the text alone?

- It should not be necessary to use 10% across the board. It comes down to how you want the shadows and gradients to appear. You ask what is the "lightest" Gray. That depends on the press and paper. Let's also assume you are planning for high end offset on a high end glossy "White" stock ( paper ). A 10% Black is fairly reasonable, but you could plan for 5%K ( again, depends on press and paper ). A nice warm Gray could be achieved with 7.5%C, 7.5%M, 7.5%Y, 0%K; a nice cool Gray could be achieved via 2.5%C, 0%M, 0%Y, 7.5%K. I would cross check a Pantone Process Color Guide for a reasonable choice. Do not rely on the monitor.
2) When creating the gradients in illustrator, should I go from the gray to transparent or is it better to set up a gray to white gradient?
- It should not be necessary to set your gradient to transparent. A typical scenario would be K > 0W; only specific requirements demand transparency.

- That depends on the file, the background, and a few other considerations. The key to shadows and gradients in Illustrator is they be applied as part of the final step in the file prep process. If you create the shadows, for instance, in Photoshop, the end file size may end up larger than you anticipated. And, the shadow would be resolution dependent ( less flexibility ).

Before you get started with your file, contact the print vendor to find out what type of press and what type of paper they plan to use on your job ( of you haven't already ). Don't forget to set your document resolution in Illustrator ( assumed ) and the Raster Effects resolution. Another important thing to remember is nail down the actual Gray ( i.e., lookup in Pantone Process Color Guide printed on the paper type you plan to use on press ).

How do I delete Gray connection lines

I was working in Pages on a tri-fold brocure. Out of nowhere seemingly these, at first blue connection lines showed up. I could not figure out what they were or how to remove them, but I was still able to clip and paste and keep working. Then the connection lines became Gray and now certian parts of my document ca't be edited. What do I do to get rid of these and be able to keep working with my document?

You didn't say what the connection lines were between or which template.
Probably they are between linked textboxes and cause the text to flow from one textbox to another.
To unlink them you click on one end or other of the line on the blue box and drag it off the box.

When you delete an iCloud backup it is permanently deleted and not available in the future to restore from. The backup of your second phone only contains the data and settings from that phone. If any of this data was inherited from your first phone, it would be contained in the backup of your second phone as it was on your second phone when it was backed up.
If you want to keep backups of your old phone, back them up in iTunes and they will remain on your computer. Even if you are backing up to iCloud, you can manually back up your phone in iTunes by right-clicking on the name of your phone on the left side of iTunes and selecting Back Up. iTunes will see each device as a separate device, and will maintain the backups separately. Do this with your first phone and you can then delete the iCloud backup and you will have the iTunes backup on your computer should you ever want to access it.

How do I avoid the white line that forms around objects I've separated from a background?

This is a cropped corner of an illustration I removed from its opaque background and placed on a transparent background. The north and west borders show the whilte line that forms whenever I place objects on a transparent background. The south and east borders are the cropped edges -- they are clean and make the trasition from object to background color without that white line. With some objects, it's possible to use the Plygonal Lasso Tool, for instance, and trim that object away from the background. With portraits or irregularly shaped objects, though, it's necessary to use the Magic Wand or other means to trim the background away from the object, which results in that unwanted white line. I've read for hours online about this problem and have found no true resolution: Defringing, Removing White Matte, Anti-aliasing, trying to predict what color you'll lay the silhouette on and working in that color, and on and on. It seems as though Photoshop would be relied upon heavily by professionals who need to place objects on top of one another without intrusion. Does anyone have a method that really works?

A Layer Mask is a black-and-white image that corresponds to your source image applied in such a way that white areas display and black areas don't. So for your project, you would want to use Photoshop to turn your scanned illustration into a black-and-white image where the area you want to keep is white, and the area you don't want to keep is black. Here is a demo using your uploaded image:
1. Open your image in Photoshop. Right-click on your source layer in the Layers Palette and select Duplicate Layer.
2. With the upper layer selected, use Image -> Adjustments -> Desaturate to turn the layer black-and-white.
3. Use Image -> Adjustments -> Invert to reverse the black and white. Now the white background should be black.
4. With the upper layer selected, use Image -> Adjustments -> Levels. Move the black, white, and gray arrows such that there is a hard black-and-white contrastwhere you want the white background to be removed.
5. You may have to use the lasso tool or the brush tool to complete the silhouette of the image against the white background.
6. With the upper, black-and-white layer selected, Edit -> Select All and Copy. Turn the layer visibility off so that you are again looking at the original image.
7. With the lower layer selected, click the Layer Mask icon. Alt-click on the Layer Mask to edit the Mask directly.
8. Edit -> Paste to apply the black-and-white image you created as a Layer Mask. If you then click the layer icon again, you should be looking at your correctly cropped image!
