My new Ipod and some things I noticed, including scratching

I got my new 60gb black Ipod, very happy with it, no issues with videos converting etc works exactly as expected and should.
However I have noticed that I already have a good few scratches on my new Ipod, I was very careful with it as I knew there could be issues etc....So I never touched the screen, never let anyone else touch it, never place it face down etc and never put it into a pocket etc....
However, what I have noticed is that there are marks/scratches on it even though I was very careful, the screen has a few and there are a few arund the click wheel. The only thing I put it in is the sleeve/pouch that comes with the Ipod and I am positive this has actually caused the scratches....
Has anyone else noticed this...? Not much I can do now, so does anyone know of a good case for it before more of this happens....what about repairing the scratches, any ideas...I am in Europe so the shield is too expensive to import...
Thanks..

Yes, well I took my plastic bit off as it was all in
one and the click wheel would not work properly with
it left on....shame they don't have a case for it...
I cut it half just below the lcd screen, when I received my iPod.
And I'm going to put one of my universal PDA film (it was pack of 5) as the original half-cut one starts to get bubbles underneath.
Why don't you try pda screen protect film for your lcd display? It'll cost a dollar or two if you go to bestbuy or any electronics shop. I always use protective film for any kind of LCD displays, PDA, digital camera, camcoder, iPod, pmp,....
Even if I have a leather case in the future, I'll put a protective film for my lcd screen.
By the way, I don't expect the practical life time as long as, let's say, 1 or 2 years for this 5G iPod. I maybe buying a 6G iPod at that time,,
Cheers,

Is there anything different about the songs that do sync and those that do not. Such as:
    Where the songs came from
    The format of the songs.

  • I got a new ipod and some of the music that i sync was my daughters and i don't want it how do delete it from my ipod

I need to delete music off my ipod how can I do that with out taking all the music off the ipod?

Under the Music tab for your iPod Sync preferences with iTunes, choose selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres instead of entire library.
Select the iTunes playlists, and/or artists, albums, genres you want transferred to your iPod followed by a sync. This will remove the music from your iPod that you don't want on the iPod.

  • HT1695 I know nothing about how to use my new ipod and when reading the little bit of information in the folder that came with it, all I can do is turn it on, but it just powers down after a few seconds.  How do I work this thing?

I know nothing about how to use my new ipod and when reading the little information that came with it, all I can do is turn it on.  Then in a few seconds it goes black, never having brought up a screen to do anything!  Help!  What do I do to get this thing going?

You might consider connecting it to the charger and charging up the battery overnight.

  • I got a new ipod and i tried to transfer my songs but some of the songs will not work on it

I recently bought a new ipod and i tried to transfer my old songs from my old ipod onto it, but some of the songs will not transfer even though i bought them through itunes. do you know how to fix this problem?

So you are saying that some songs do sync to the iPod from this iTunes library, right?
What is the source of the non-syncing songs? What is the format? Is it different from the songs that do sync?

  • HT4531 apps which is able to work in ipod and some new features

apps which is able to work in ipod and some new features

1] Apple US is not currently offering unlocked iPhone 5 for sale, so
it will not work in NZ. You must also research if the 4G/LTE bands used
in the US are the same as those in NZ - otherwise you will not be able
to connect at those speeds in NZ.
2] iPhone warranty is valid only in country of original purchase. Should
a situation arise that requires repair/replacement, you must return iPhone to US
(either personally or by sending to friend/relative to deliver to Apple).
Apple will not accept shipments from outside the US nor will Apple
return it to you outside the US. All shipping, insurance, and any
    other costs are your responsibility.
3] I do not know, but expect the solution that works for any US purchased
electronics brought to NZ would also apply.

  • New Ipod and new computer-how to transfer

I just got the new ipod video and had the 20gb. I now have a new computer and new ipod. How do I transfer my songs to my new ipod and computer?
    any help would be appreciated.
    D

If you transfer your library from the PC to the Mac, and then plug in your new ipod to the new Mac, a question will pop up asking you whether you want this computer's library to be transferred to the iPod. Click Yes, and it will start synching with whatever is in the library.
You can also use some programs, like "Senuti" (for mac, freeware) to rip off the contents FROM your iPod TO your new Mac. I personally like Senuti since it has an iTunes-like interface except in reverse.

  • My Ipod was originally set up as a sub-account of a firends.  After that, I got an Iphone and set up my own Apple account.  I just got a new Ipod, and now can't sync my old Itunes to it. Can anyone help me? I'm even OK with deleting the old Itunes account

My Ipod was originally set up as a sub-account of a firends.  After that, I got an Iphone and set up my own Apple account.  I just got a new Ipod, and now can't sync my old Itunes to it. Can anyone help me? I'm even OK with deleting the old Itunes account, and staring over.  I just really want to get the new Ipod under my own account, and be able to use it...

There is no such thing as a "sub-account."  Also, you probably mean iTunes library, when you say "account."  Your "account" in iTunes is your Apple ID, which is what you use to sign in to the iTunes Store to make purchases.  iPods are associated with an iTunes library, not with an Apple ID (iTunes Store account).  You'll need to clarify...
So, this is what I think you are saying.  You previously shared an iTunes library on a computer with your friend.  Your old iPod was synced to that iTunes library.
You got an iPhone, and at that time, you set up your own iTunes library.  Is that on a different computer?  How does the iPhone affect your question about the iPod?
You got a new iPod.  What is your "old iTunes"?  Is that the iTunes library you shared with your friend?

  • Install new firnware yesterday first thing I notice...

Install new firnware yesterday first thing I notice is a buzzzzzzzzzzzzz that before was not there, any one else have notice this, any solution?
    nhylo

I can't imagine any way the update could have been directly responsible for a noise of this sort, so I would be concerned that the buzzing sound may have been the result of something like the fan rubbing lightly against something as it spins, and then stopping when the fan or obstruction is sufficiently worn to cease fouling..... or the fan stops spinning altogether!
Just to be sure, keep an eye on the behavior of the system for a few days, making sure that you can detect the fan spinning up when the system is under heavy load.

  • Buying a new ipod, and selling my old one to a friend.

I have a 32 gig ipod touch.I plan to buy a 64 gig ipod touch.Do i need to do a restore on the 32 gig , to wipe my music and apps, so i can put them on my new ipod? Also when i connect the new ipod I assume it will recognize it as a new ipod , and my friends computer will do the same.

Yes I would do a restore and then just hand it over to him. He can then activate it and sync it to his library. Then your new one you'll do the same thing.
You could just do a reset, which would delete all content and return it to a default state. But anytime I sell one I do a restore because this just allows them to start with an almost new setup. Most of the time it is a lot less problematic.
It is honestly a pretty painless process!

You could go hunting for a fair price on a refurbished or restored Intel-based Mac or MacBook, as most early models of CoreDuo and Core2Duo can run Snow Leopard 10.6.8, and some much more recent.
The Apple Store's Special Deals section that is online has some fairly recent examples of hardware with an OS, original accessories as noted, power cord, and complementary one year coverage. Eligibility for extended AppleCare plans are noted & may be available for various items in the store. Subject to availability. Refurbished. Like new. The price difference can be about the same as the additional two year AppleCare plan may cost, so get that too.
Third party repaired restored or available through other channels vary in quality, quantity, condition, and may be lacking in some or most original accessories; they should include basic hardware as originally equipped and have the boot-install software disc set as intended for that build model & year specification, included.
Auction sites rarely have that much of a kit together, w/ missing discs, scruffy, extra fees, etc. On the other hand, companies that restore and repair Macs for a living and are authorized Apple service centers may have something, if you aren't in the market for something holiday new or really quick. Older models if reasonably refurbished can still shine years later.
    Hopefully this helps somewhat.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • If i factory reset my ipod touch(5th gen), can i reset it as the option 'set up as new ipod', and then i can just go into the app store/itunes store and restore my music and apps and not icloud with photos and ect?

if i factory reset my ipod touch(5th gen), can i reset it to the option 'set up as a new ipod', and then i can just go into the app store/itunes store and log into my apple ID so i can just restore my music and apps and not icloud with photos, contacts, ect. and then later i can add contacts that i need/want instead of them restoring them from icloud?
The reason i asked this question is because i have been wondering this a lot ever since i got an exchange on this ipod (and ive only had it for a few weeks now) because my last ipod had a lot of problems. so after i restored my ipod with my computer/itunes, i downloaded apps that i wanted, and then when i went to the storage to see how much storage was left, it said 0 bytes. i was freaking out because i didnt know how that could be, i mean, cause like, that is impossible when i just 'purchased' it, that the space was full but i looked and all my pictures were on this ipod and i already put them on my computer so i dont need them anymore thats why i wanna reset it now so there is nothing on it so i can have more space for stuff to do and download on it.
it is updated to iOS 8 but that happened when i purchased it, so i didnt have a choice to update it even though i didnt want to update to iOS 8...
and i hope you understand my problem..
i would REALLY REALLY appreciate it if someone could tell me a solution to my problem!!! thank you so much!
    -sierra

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. Hope this helps. Good luck. Cheers.

  • I used my apple ID for my daughters new iPod and now we have the same number! Please help

I just started up my daughters new iPod and use my apple id and now we have the same number! How do I change this on my daughters iPod? I want her to be able to use my apple ID but I'd like her to have her own number... Is this possible?

Create a new ID for her:
    On the iPod go to
    - Settings>Messages>Send and receive and sign out your ID and sign into hers. Make sure that only her ID email address is listed.
    - Settings>FaceTime sign out of your ID and sign into hers. Make sure that under You can be reached at only her ID email address is listed
    - Settings>iCloud and sign out and sign in with hers
Continue to use the common ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores.
