My new iPod had been charging overnight but now will not turn on or register as a device on iTunes. What should I do about it?

You are still under warranty if your iPod is "new." Take full advantage of it by either calling iPod tech support, Apple Care if you have it or take it in to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you.

Wow .... so you are syncing via WiFi when you sync .... would that be correct?
I would still quit iTunes and then restart and see what happens. The iPad and iTunes must be playing some weird games.
If you do sync via WiFi (I do), I think you are better off closing iTunes when you are done - unless of course you are using iTunes for Home Sharing or something like that. My experience is that if you leave iTunes running, the iPad and iTunes just start sending weird signals back and forth.
Since I started Wifi syncing, I have seen messages in iTunes that made absolutely no sense at all. Anyway, that's my take on it. If you do not WiFi sync, then I have no clue why you are getting these messages.

Which battery life are you referring to? Apple's website states the iPod Nano 6th Gen will get "up to 24 hours of music playback when fully charged". There are going to be a lot of things that can change that. Are you using the stopwatch or the count down timer a lot? Are you using the FM radio a lot? Any accessories that you are using with the iPod? These will all have an effect on your battery life.

New Ipod Nano, does not seem to charge

I just bought IPOD NANO (4GB, gen2). The store guy told to drain the battery and then fully charge it. Well, I played some song and soon all the charge were gone.
I had a LOGiiX wall charger for my old IPOD (20GB), and I wanted to use it to charge it. Initially there were no responds. Then I changed the cable (I wanted to use my old cable but it did not work, so I used the new one that came with Nano) and it started to charge. It got fully charged.
Now after while of playing music I wanted to see what went wrong and wanted to charge again (it has been played for a while and so it should at least show me that its charging again, no?). But none of the cable worked with the wall charger (LOGiiX). The wall charger has a green light (LED) in it and it goes to red when its charges. But the green light stayed green and no charging in Nano.
I tried with a computer, and it shows the symbol of "Fully Charged". But its not fully charged, I played couple of songs. Is there something wrong? Should I take it back to the store and exchange?

I don't know why the store guy told you that, it wasn't necessary (there's such a lot of rubbish talked about the iPod battery).

As it's so new, if nothing is helping you should consider getting it exchanged.

Ipod nano does not turn on.

My ipod nano appears to be dead. Nothing is on the screen. When I press Menu and select and hold down, nothing happens. When I charge it, nothing happens.

- Make sure the mic hole is unobstructed. It is the little hole on the back side of the iPod by the camera lens.

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

Also the one where I move the button on the upper part of the ipod nano and moving it to the hold position and back and there againa and back. nothing seems to work...PLEASE HELP ME ASAP!! my friend thought that the battary could be so dead that it is not turning on at all. My point in the original posting that this is a bug seems to have been answered affirmatively by the notations of the quirkiness of the action. The argument that it must not be a bug because it would have been solved by now is totally disingenuous. Apparently Apple programmers (or their management) are not any superior to Microsoft programmers in that they focus on adding new bells and whistles while allowing longstanding problems in the core code to continue to fester.

This came from another thread, but worked for me. Problem is with newest iTunes 4.62 and Windows 8.1. Unistall iTunes, as well as its helper programs (Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Divice Support, and Apple Software Update). Reboot, and reinstall iTunes. It will reinstall all the other ones and you should be able to connect your nano. Good luck.

New iPod Nano 5G Not Recognized

Okay, this is a weird one.
I bought an iPod Nano from Apple and it is not recognized by my Mac Pro. My Macbook sees it just fine and so does a Windows PC at work.
I've followed the troubleshooting found in TS1410 on Apple Support. In addition, on the very same Mac Pro with the same USB cable and USB port, iTunes sees my iPhone perfectly fine.
When I click on Apple, About this Mac, click More Info to launch System Profile and look under USB, it sees my iPod Nano as well. However, the iPod Nano does not show up in finder or my Mac Pro.
Any ideas on possible troubleshooting?

Oddly enough, after another reboot, it is now working.
