Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

    Hello Casey B,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Try re-installing the latest version from this page on top of the current installed version and see if that helps.

If nothing else, remove the Application from your Mac entirely, and again download the latest version from the link above.

If you have the first gen ipod touch as your information shows, then you would have to buy a software update:

  • If I help out a friend & download a free app (through my iTunes account) on their new iPod Touch, will their device automatically be added to my itunes device list (and they can see all my contacts, pix, music etc)?

If I help out a friend & download a free app (through my iTunes account) on their new iPod Touch, will their device automatically be added to my itunes device list (and they can see all my contacts, pix, music etc)?

Just wondering, what context is this in?
First up, is your iTunes account part of an iCloud account?
Secondly, if it's a free app, why don't they just download it? If they are having trouble finding it on the App Store, but you can find it easily, you can share the link for it via email with them, and if they view that email on their iPod they can just tap the link and it will open the App Store to that App for them, so they can download it themselves.
If you were to go to the Store settings pane and sign in with your iTunes account, that should only provide the possibility for download items from your iTunes account, such as purchased apps, music and movies. However, if you signed in, downloaded the app, and then went back and signed out of the account again, there shouldn't be any access apart from the app you downloaded. This is provided you sign in using the Store section of the Settings app, not the iCloud section.
One problem they will have if you download this in your account instead of theirs, in order to download updates for that app, they will need you to enter your iTunes password to download the updates. Doing that doesn't give them access to anythign to do with your account other than that update, but they will be unable to receive updates for it without your password. They would also likely be unable to sync the app onto their computer, as their computer would not be Authorised with your iTunes account.
If you can answer some of the questions I've asked, I may be able to suggest alternate ways for you get them the app on their device.
Hope this all helps a bit

Try connecting it to your iTunes library in recovery mode using the instructions in this Apple support document.

Otherwise, try connecting in DFU mode.

  • New-ish 8gb Ipod Touch Wont connect?

Alright so I got a new Ipod touch last weekend and so far its been fine, tonight I'm trying to connect it and have plugged it in and it won't show up in my itunes, but when I unplug it my computer makes the disconnect noise yet it wont (though it has never for some reason) even show up when I go to the My computer icon as all my previous ipods have. What's the problem? Why wont it connect to itunes and why has it never shown up under my computer?

  • New iPod Touch & TV connection

    Hi all,
I just got a new iPod Touch. It was my understanding that its precedesor had an Video Out port so you can connect it to a TV and watch videos. If this incorrect on my part I apologize. I tried to connect the new iPod Touch to the TV using a standard cable that came with my Panasonic PV-GS250 video camera with the three connectors on the one end (yellow, white & red) and one prong on the other. I get sound but no image. Did Apple do away with that feature or am I using the wrong cable?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

Apple changed the way they did video out with the 2007 September refresh. You now have to have the special $50 dollar AV cable, or a device that is specifically made to handle the new iPod video output. These devices are equipped with the smart chip technology that is now required. Any accessory made before October 2007, will just not work on these new devices.

  • IPOD touch wont connect to my secure wifi

I just got a new Ipod touch and have been trying to connect to my home wireless router. I have a Linksys wrt300n and run a WEP 128 bit security on it. All the other devices in my house run of this wirelessly. (Laptop, desktops, gaming system, etc...) When I first connected my other wireless devices I had to enter my WEP key to be able to access the router. Now the problem I am having is that the IPOD touch will pick up my network. it asks me to enter my password and I do this. Then it tells me that the password is wrong. I double check my password buy logging into my routers setup page. I was right. I assume this is because of my WEP security setting but for the life of me I can not find a place to enter the KEY code in. I have been on the phone twice with Apple to no avail. They are trying to tell me that I may have to change what security setting I use. Is this right? Is there another way. As it stands right now, the IPOD touch I bought is just a $200 peice of junk if I can not even connect to my own home network. OH, before any one asks, I did go to a buisness with free wifi and was able to connect right off the bat with that network. So it is something with my secured setup. Any help would be appriciated. I have been looking around for hours for an answer.

Have an ipod touch that would not connect to the wireless router using WEP128 encryption. I cannot change encryption on the router since not mine (I did not change any settings on the guy's router though he wouldn't know if I had).
Tried a number of passwords including audible cursing and fist shaking. I also tried variations on the HEX and account password (in quotes, start out with a $, etc) and none worked. What did work was converting the 26 number string from HEX to ascii using an online converter http://centricle.com/tools/ascii-hex/
and putting this value in the password box when I logged in.
Side bar - I manually selected the network by inputting the name of the network and selecting the encryption. I don't think this step made a difference.

  • New ipod touch wont sync and a frozen screen what do i do have restored it but nothing

I have a new ipod touch  just put it on the computer for the first time and it wont sync and has a frozen screen.
i have restored it and that did not work.

Unplug your iPod from your computer and hold down the home and power buttons until the screen turns off. Then hold them again until the Apple logo shows. Eventually, your iPod should work again.
