It appears that you are trying to sync too much media to the iPod. Check your checkmarks. Also see:

  • IPod Classic won't Sync to computer, says 74gb out of 80gb are used -but there's nothing on ipod. How do I restore?

iPod won't Sync to computer, says 74gb out of 80gb are used -but there's nothing on ipod. How do I restore? Is anyone else familiar with this problem? It had over 25 movies, thousands of songs & hundreds of pictures, and it seems like they're still on there, because 74gb are used out of the 80 but when I turn the ipod on it appears to be at factory, fresh out of the box settings and my computer wont recognise it at all...

For the following suggestion, when you connect the iPod to the PC, and iTunes open up, please close it, before you fix the drive.
Your iPod hardisk filesystem is corrupted, and maybe repaired by using command line, under DOS window.
    chkdsk drive: /F
where drive: is the iPod ID D: or E:
You can also try clicking the IPod properties, and run error checking in GUI, tick  "fix all error."
If you have access to a Mac, you can use DiskUtility, and run FirstAid to repair the iPod.
    Good Luck!
BTW, this problem arise because, iPod did not complete, closing, the Sync process, due to timeout, for Windows systems, I think it is maybe caused by Antivirus, or some other plugins, trying to make windows 7 look like Mac OS X.

  • Ok, when i try to sync my new ipod touch to my computer, it says unable to connect for unknown reasons, and as a benefit, it shows the songs as faded in the list and therefore unplayable. how do i fix this problem?

as stated in the title, i when i try to sync my new ipod touch to my computer it says its unable to connect due to unkown reasons. the music is listed on my touch as there, but faded (minus a selected few songs) and therefore are unplayable. i have no idea where to start, i figured downloading the newest itunes update, however, it no longer shows up when i start it up. confused.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reboot the computer
    - Try another cable and USB port
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

I'm not completely computer illiterate; but, I am not well versed either. Could someone please tell me what I need to do to bring this back so I can sync my phone and laptop (windows op system).

The screen-shot is on a Mac computer. It is very similar in Windows iTunes.  Have a look at this set of instructions instead.

My 80 gig cassic lunched a motherboard. Purchased a new 160 classic as a replacement.
When attempting to sync, it looks like it has synced a hundred or so pod casts and then freezes up. An error window says "The xxx ipod cannot be synced. The required folder cannot be found.
Note: In three syncing attempts, only three podcasts have actually appeared on the new machine

  • My new iPod won't sync unless I have iTunes 10.7 or later, but there is no such version.  iTunes 10.6 is the latest.  What's going on?

I plugged in my new iPod and a message said that it would not sync unless I have iTunes 10.7 or later, but there is no such version.  I checked for updates and iTunes 10.6 is the latest.  What's going on?

You need to upgrade the computer's OS to at least Mac OS X 10.6.8, which requires an Intel Mac with at least 1GB of RAM.

  • My new ipod won't sync with itunes and does not show on windows

    Hi
I got a new ipod nano gen 7 to replace 2 old ipods that were stolen.  the problem is that it won't sync at all.  When I plug it in it charges, but my windows 7 browser doesn't see it, and neither does my itunes.  I have Mcafee security and I have updated itunes, windows and checked my mcafee settings as per other users issues on the web and it still isn't working!  If I plug it into another computer though it works fine.
Have tried - resetting ipod, downloading upgrades, switching firewall off.
No idea what else i can do!

  • New iPod won't sync

hey everyone, I really need some help. I just bought a 30GB iPod. I'm trying to sync it with my current iTunes account but it won't sync. It will start to download, then just freeze up and I'll get an "iPod can't be synced, couldn't find specified file" window. When I try to restore to factory settings, it won't go through and I get an Error 1418 window. If it makes any difference, my iTunes is 7.2.035 and I also have a 1st gen iPod Nano 2GB which syncs and works just fine.

Is the iPod charged? Try a different USB port? Call Apple?

  • New ipod won't sync purchased music from itunes library

I just purchased a new ipod and when I try to sync my library it will not transfer any purchased songs that are in my library.  All the songs are checked and I selected sync all music.

Do these purchased tracks play in iTunes?  What other options do you have enabled from under the Summary and Music tabs for your iPod?  Are you saying non-iTunes purchased tracks sync okay?

  • My iPad won't sync. It says I need to authorize my iPad but it is already authorized.

Been having issues getting tv episodes to appear on my iPad. Once I try to sync, a message says I need to authorize the computer, but I have already done this. I am stumped as to what to do. Btw, my episodes appear on my pc.

Here is an Apple kb article that talks about the issue that you are experiencing - the repeated request for authorization. Maybe you can find something in here that will work.

The one other thing that I noticed as I quickly scanned this article - are you logged into your PC as the administrator of the PC? Sometimes that can be a problem.
Maybe you can find something in here that will help.

Have you tried to download one of the shows directly to the iPad? If you are in the U.S. you can download the shows again for free - go the the purchased tab of iTunes and download them in there. Perhaps if you download one directly to the iPad - it will open the "unauthorized" channel and allow you to sync them from iTunes again.
