My new iTunes messed up my iPods album art

I updated my 5G video iPod... and everything seemed fine until I tried playing an album on my iPod after the update. Apparenlty if I'm playing, lets just say the song "One", by U2 on the album Achtung Baby, for example... it will play fine, BUT IT WILL SHOW ANOTHER ALBUM'S ARTOWKR WITH THE ALBUM. For example instead of showing Achtung Baby's cover for the song "One", it shows the cover for a Pearl Jam album or something.
I have no idea how to make it stop, and just show the normal album art. I've played Mars Volta, Pearl Jam... etc... and they all show other bands album art for the albums. It seems to be entirely thrown off and doesn't know how to show an albums PROPER album art.
Someone please tell me they know how to fix this.

Highlight the ipods name in iTUnes. Hit the "Music" tab and UNCHECK "Display Album artwork on your ipod" then hit "Apply" in the lower right corner of itunes. THis will update your ipod. Wait for it to finish updating.
When its done updating just CHECK the box again and hit "Apply" again and let it update.
What happend is the ipods DB (Database) got allittle "Fudged up" and doing these steps makes iTUnes rewrite the ipods DB. Its not an issue with the update or iTUnes, its happened in other versions

However, if what you actually want to do is to fix/sort out your problem, why no try posting a question on that subject?
For starters - you can re-name the tracks in your iTunes library, so it is possible to correct the changes that you must have made that mean that songs are now "unknown artists and albums."

installed the new itunes and now my ipod nano  does not show in the device menu

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

  • Can I force iTunes not to embed custom album art, but store it separately?

(I only use iTunes to manage my 16GB iPod nano 5th gen and update my mother's iPad.)
Now as far as I am aware, when iTunes downloads album art, it stores it separately from the audio files, and thus several tracks share the same image file for their artwork. This seems economical to me, considering the space limitations that most Apple devices have.
But if you set your custom album art, iTunes embeds it into the audio files themselves, so each has a copy of the artwork, and thus the total size of artwork increases about tenfold. Now this is okay when storing the audio files on personal computers, but is quite stupid for devices with limited storage capacities. It really depends on the size of the artwork and the bitrate your audio is encoded to, but I calculated I could put an extra 300MB of music onto my iPod if I could just somehow force iTunes to store my custom album art separately, not embed it into the audio files by default.
Does anybody have an answer/solution to this problem, or do I have to look beyond iTunes to do this?
    Thanks!
(Note that I do not wish to use the iTunes download artwork service, as it is quite unreliable and the artwork is of low quality.)

  • How do i get itunes 11 to display my album art while in list mode like it did in the previous version?

How do i get itunes 11 to display my album art while in list mode like it did in the previous version?

I think the Sidebar preview image is gone. But found that when I'm playing music either from the entire library or a playlist you can click the tiny thumbnail at the top to open a Artwork based player that is scalable. Reduce (minimize) the main Itunes window and the player is actually Nice.  Hope that helps.

  • Create a new iTunes database, reload my iPod - or both?

I have a very large number of albums and songs in my copy of iTunes. I also have a very large number of diverse song lists.
At some point, album art from different albums began appearing on my 160 Gb iPod's screen with songs from other albums by other artists. Example: a Bruce Springsteen song may play while the cover art from the most recent Scissor Sisters is displayed on the iPod's screen.
There is no such cover art confusion when I play songs in iTunes on my computer.
Do I need to create a new database file on my computer, or ... shudder ... reload everything onto the iPod? Or both?

or ... shudder ... reload everything onto the iPod?
    Why is that a " shudder "?
Restore the iPod an let it resync. Nothing you need to do except go make a sandwich while it reloads.

  • IPod in Recovery Mode? New iTunes has made my iPods useless.

I did a search and found others with the same problem, but no solutions. With iTunes (downloaded yesterday) neither of my iPods will work. I have a 30gb Video iPod and a third generation 20gb iPod. Both worked fine before I upgraded, now neither will work with iTunes on my work PC.
I have tried the "5 Rs" and it did nothing but wipe all the data off my video iPod I've uninstalled iTunes, deleted all associated folders, and deleted all registery entries that reference iTunes or iPod; I must have missed something though, because when I reinstall iTunes, it somehow still has all my library data grrr.
    Any thoughts?
I happened to have just built a new PC at home (different from the one I'm having the problems on) and with a fresh OS and file system, the iPods work with the new iTunes, but not on my older work PC. Obviously I'm missing some file that needs to be deleted, otherwise the library info would be gone and I'd have to add files to my iTunes again, but I'll be damned if I can find the file.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is my iPod Diagnostic info from my 20gb 3rd generation iPod:

I had the same problem when connecting my 60GB iPod with iTunes 7, but I could get through it.
I cannot explain precisely what the cause was, however this is what I did:
    1) uninstall iTunes 7 from Control Panel, then reboot;
    2) connected iPod to PC without iTunes (mainly because I had all my summer pictures stored in it and wanted to copy them in a safer place, which I succeded at)
    3) disconnected iPod from PC (with Safely Remove HW)
    4) installed again iTunes 6.x (found link to download setup.exe in one post in this forum)
    5) connected iPod: everything ok
    6) installed iTunes 7 with iPod connected (but iTunes 6 obviously closed): after installation it prompted that iPod needed to have SW upgraded to 1.2, which it did in the usual way
(actually, I had no intention to install iTunes 7 again, but some podcasts I had found in the Store did not sync "because iPod SW is too old")
    Hope this helps.

  • Downloading Songs from a new iTunes onto an old ipod

Please help me. I'm about to go on vacation and want new songs to listen to. My old iTunes program was on my laptop, which promptly broke a couple months ago and I haven't gotten around to getting the songs out of the old iTunes to put on my new computer. My NEW iTunes has about 20 songs that I've bought on it, and I would like to download those all together without deleting the 500+ songs on my iPod. every time I try to manually upload iTunes says it "has had an error and needs to close." Please help with this!
    Gateway   Windows XP

if you have your ipod has enabled disk use you can find your address book in the finder insides the your ipod in the contracts folder and most likely called iSync.vcf. Double click it and Address Book will do the rest.
As for you purchases under file in iTunes go to "Transfer Purchases from iPod"

  • Itunes messed up my ipod touch

i recently downloaded itunes on my new laptop. the 64 bit version to be exact. i been using 64 a long time ago and plugged my ipod touch in lots of computers no problem. this new version of itunes disconfigured my ipod touch completely, everytime I connect it, it tells me to "set up my new ipod" restore from a backup made?!?!?!!? and worse of all, now my ipod loses charge all the time. i would be more than glad to restore my ipod but my music is my home computer and im very far from there.
Any solutions to make itunes stop modifying my ipod touch???

  • Please help or I jump of the roof because of new itunes and 30gb video ipod

    HI,
I really need help or the headaches this ... ipod (you know what I was going to say so) anyways, I have this nice 30gig ipod video and was really happy with it until today. I tried to upload some new songs on it with the new itunes 7.0 and it gave me the msg "itunes has detected a ipod that is in recovery mode." or something like that, well it told me to restore the ipod. I did that cause I had my files still on the computer. then I waited for the apple logo on the ipod, worked fine. then when it was finished itunes had the same msg again, you need to restore the ipod. After like five times doing that I stopped and thought maybe the new itunes wasn't good so I installed the older 6.0.5 version, but nothing happened it didn't recognize the ipod.I tried to reset it, to restore it with the updater and that made it even worse. I think I started the updater and then the computer restarted in the middle of the restoration.
Now the ipod keeps resetting it and I can't do anything. I tried to let it drain the battery but that didn't help, the pc isn't recognizing it at all.
Now, could someone tell me what the best thing is I could do instead of hitting the **** thing with a hammer?
I am really frustrated and the support page didn't really help nor did I find any telephone number from apple so I hope that at least someone here can help me get my ipod back to work.
Otherwise I really have to hit it with a hammer. Is there the possiblity taht if I take out the battery, that it stops and resets normally and can be used again? If so, could then someone tell me how I do that?
I hope somebody will find the time to help me.
I thank everybody that might have anything to say to this problem in advance
    sincerely

I feel your pain... I'm having a problem with downloading and installing new software form my 30gb IPod. ITunes 7.01, which I installed on my new computer, will not allow the updated software for the IPod to install or update the IPod. My IPod disappears from the ITunes playlist column as soon as I try to update the software. Apple has a problem with the IPod software update that they have not yet found a solution for. I am unable to update my IPod with a movie that I purchased. I can play it on ITunes, but it will not show up on my IPod. I also lost some other videos that I already had. I'm just waiting for the "Fix" so that I can update.
