My new laptop doesnt start proper
i bought mom new laptop product id:C2N25U#ABA. not sure what she did but when you power it on it says diagnosing pc then says prepairing automatic repair then loops back to diagnosing pc.. goes back and forth between them two msgs.. help?
Try tapping the Esc key immediately after powering on. Does the F11 key work to start a System Recovery? If so choose to restore the laptop back to Factory setup.
If no luck, boot with the first Recovery Disk(if you made the set). If you don't have Recovery Media phone HP to request a set>> Contact HP

New Laptop, clean start, except iTunes librarys, what news for iPhone?!

I have a new MacBook Pro coming my way (very excited) a nice upgrade from my 3YO work horse iBook!
So, i want to start again, with regards to a 'clean' install. But i want to keep a couple of things like iPhoto and iTunes libraries.
A couple of questions then.
1) The first is actually pre-move over. In that i use 2 iTunes libraries, 1 for my laptop (with small number of songs) and one with an external drive (for all my music). I have only plugged my iPhone onto my laptop one. What happens if i plug into the other one by mistake?
2) When i move laptops, i know i need to copy the library folders from the music folder, to the new music folder, and also copy across the pref file. But what should i do about the iPhone? Will it be as seamless?
3) Any other tips and ideas to make my move as painless as possible!

JJYou need to authorize your new computer with your iTunes account with iTunes. You also need to de-authorize your computer that is going back with your iTunes account with iTunes.
iTunes does not store photos. iTunes stores iTunes content only - music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and 3rd party apps, and serves as the sync/transfer content for iTunes content - contacts, calendar events and Safari bookmarks with the supported applications on your computer, and for photos stored on your computer.
You need to transfer all photos from your work computer to your new computer as with all other data that you will need or want to transfer to your new computer.
The easiest way to transfer your entire iTunes library including playlists, play counts, etc. is be transferring the iTunes named folder located in your Music folder from your work computer to your new computer. If you have access to an external drive with enough storage capacity to store your entire iTunes library or iTunes folder, you can use that for the transfer, or you can network the computers together in some fashion. With iTunes quit on your new computer, place the iTunes named folder copied from the Music folder on your old computer in the Music folder on the new computer. Launch iTunes on the new computer and it will be identical to iTunes on your work computer. -
Laptop doesnt boot into Windows
My daughter put my Laptop( Pavilion 14, 4 months old) down from the bed. Now the laptop doesnt start at all.
It shows up an error message during boot Hard Disk 1 (3F1). I have important data to be fetched so I'm worried.
Any idea how to tackle this issue?
I'm able to go into the BIOS though......You need to stop trying to boot it up and follow the message. The hard drive has been damaged and needs to be replaced. Data may or may not be recoverable. You need a usb to SATA adapter and try to connect the drive externally to another computer and see if the drive can still spin up and be seen by the computer. If not you need to get out the Yellow Pages and look for data recovery services.

Hello. So since two days i been trying to know why my laptop doesnt start. When i press the power button it lights up the power light, batery and like for some seconds also lights up the HDD light, but it goes off after 3 seconds aprox, and also the fan does the same thing that the HDD light, it starts working and then i can hear how the fan stops working. I have only tried one thing.
Take out everything and loof if something its broken and also i clean the fluff that accumulates in the out of the fan.
I dont know what to do, the only thing i know it's that isn't the battery niether the power cable (That was changed some months ago)
Mayba someone could help me.

Transfering music from ipod to new laptop on Windows
I recently got a new windows laptop, because my old one broke. I have installed the most updated itunes to it, turned on the home sharing, and I would like to add my songs from my ipod to this new laptop. Also, it will not let me update my itunes on to my ipod without erasing everything I have purchased?
Where can I find my bought music on my itunes account? Is there a way to transfer everything onto my new laptop without starting fresh? I do not want to buy the same song twice. So I won't use the itunes if I cannot transfer everything into one place, and add new songs from my new itunes onto my ipod.
This has happened before, and I redid my entire ipod. I do not want to spend more money on the same songs.
Is there a list of things I can do that will sync all of my music to my new itunes without erasing my ipod?1). Connect your iPod to your new computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
Alternatively open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Prevent iPods and iPhones from syncing automatically" and choose Ok. Then connect your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads etc) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive -
I just bought a new laptop and my ipod nano will not stay connected to my computer. When I first connect the ipod it starts to sync on my ipod but not on itunes. The ipod is initially connected to my computer, I can see it when I look on devices in my computer. However, when it finishes syncing it is no longer detected to my computer. I cannot transfer any of my songs to my new laptop because of this. I have tried to reinstall itunes, reset my ipod and use a different port. None of these things worked. Any ideas?

I own PSE 7 on disc. The laptop it was loaded on died. My new laptop doesn't have an optical drive so I downloaded PSE 7 from the Adobe site. It downloaded fine but I cannot start using it until I enter a S/N. The S/N on the disc box doesn't work.
Those links weren't particularly helpful to me. They convinced me to install the drivers for my USB 2.0 card, but that didn't make a difference. Still no OS X without a PRAM reset if I've dared to venture into OS 9.
It's always been my understanding that an unblessed System Folder will not be selectable in OS 9's Startup Disk control panel. My folders are blessed and healthy. Of course I'm running 9.2.2, as stated in my first message. I also frequently verify and repair my disks and permissions.
I did a verbose startup of OS X, and noticed something funny about "ATY...too old." Perhaps this problem is related? I ventured into my system.log file and there it was, repeated over and over, everytime I've booted this computer:

Deselect the box next to Photo Stream then reselect it then restart your Mac. -

i have sync'ed a folder of photos from my other laptop to my iphone 4, i couldnt copy it from the iphone to my new laptop, even when i go through as normal internal storage the folder doesnt appears
Correct. The iphone is not a storage/backup device. The photo sync is one way - computer to iphone.
You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one. -
Installed LR on a new Laptop, should I import the old catalog or start fresh?
Got a new laptop and re-installed LR and PS. Not sure If I should start with a new LR catalog or keep building on my old catalog, which is three years old containing almost 100,000 images?
If I start fresh, can I open the older catalog later if the need arises?
What say the Adobe experts?

LR can easily handle that number...I have more than 150k and never a problem.
The one thing you should consider though is backing up and optimizing - you can set it to automatically ask you to do it (and you should at least whenever you make large imports or a large number of edits). The backups are catalog backups only, not full file backups, and are stored locally...at the 100,000 file level it will likely be over 1gb so you should check them now and then and delete most of them just to save space..
