My new laptop experience

Hello Everybody,
Every time that I buy a present for myself, I like to share the experience with others.
Since non of my friends understand much about Computers, and my new notebook experiences NEEDED to be shared, i have decided to post it in here:p.
Before Reading: I am not an English native speaker and i am not very into technology, if I had made some mistake please try to understand.
For my birthday I wanted a new computer, since I needed a Windows laptop to work in some projects with my classmates. I had to get the notebook from the USA since it was already sold out in Taiwan. After using it for a couple of weeks it still surprises me. AND GOOD SURPRISES!! Not the usual disappointments that I get with IT products.
My two Laptops
Coming from a MacBook Pro 13” it took me several days to get used to Windows 8. A bit stressing at first, but now I enjoy the GS70 a bit more everyday:).
First impression
Bigger screen:
I was looking for a 17” laptop so it would be more practical to do my reports. And the mate coating allows me to see my photographs without reflections.
Clean palm rest
The GS70 only comes with 2 stickers on the palm rest, the 2 years warranty sticker, that will be taken out along with the plastic cover, and the Intel Inside Core i7 sticker, that won’t bother you since is small and black (which combines with the laptop design).
If you are concerned, you can find the rest of the sticker at the bottom side of the laptops.
Speaker test
I have always enjoyed listening to music; beside the two speakers the GS70 also comes with a woofer at the bottom, which delivers a better sound experience than the MacBook.
SteelSeries Keyboard
I have saw SteelSeries Keyboards in Europe, as my understanding is a very well-known brand for gamers because of its quality. Never had the opportunity to try them, to be sincere it does not disappoint you, feels like an external mechanical keyboard and you can configure the backlight colors easily as your convenience or mood.
It has a wide range of color to select, and three independent areas to setup.
Thin and Light
The notebook is extremely thin, about the width of two iPhones. And for a notebook of its size, it weighs only 2 Kilograms.
User Experience:
NO EYESTRAIN AT ALL!!!!!
I have always suffered from eye strain while using computers for more than one hour, with the mate coating and bigger screen, I can watch videos, even at outdoors for hours without any eye strain symptom.
Battery life
In my experience, while doing reports and watching movies, the battery lasted for 3.5 hours, although not as much as with the Macbook, but I get to have a bigger screen and better experience in outdoors.
Headphones
Is also the first computer that I have that can get the best from my headphones without an amplifier.
High build in quality
To be different with other computers, the GS70 feels solid with aluminum components. The weight is equilibrated, I can put it on some working machines, without fear that it might fell down.
Configurable internet priority
At home I rely on the 3G for internet, with limited bandwidth; I can set Skype as a priority and get a smooth conversation while surfing on the internet, and THIS SHOULD BE A MUST for all computers!!
Playing Metro Last Light
One of my classmate has installed Metro on my computer, I don’t usually play computers game, but the experience is quite addictive, good synchronization of sound and video.
Finally, the LOOK!
Although it is a “Gaming” computer, it can deliver a professional and stylish look, even more than a Macbook.
The Open box
Although it is not a Hermes bag, my boyfriend wanted to remember the moment. He hand-carried it from Los Angeles to Taipei
Outbox, not really my first choice, but after all I was interested on the notebook.
Opening it
Seal sticker and opening
Protection bag
Inside there is a dust bag, followed by a plastic bag.
Wait for it!
Finally there is another dust/scratch protection bag for the screen.
Hocus Pocus!
All Accesories
The Backpack
The backpack that it comes in with is not very girly, but it is very practical for carrying books and computers because of its square shape. And it comes with a protection sleeve for the computer in case you don’t want to use the backpack.
The Headset
Comes with a hidden microphone, is very practical to talk on the phone with it.
Best Computer Ever!!
Special Thanks to my dearest Andrea Rossi  for the photos!

  • Looking for a new laptop

    Hi.
Because of an unexpected hardware problem I'am looking for a new laptop.
The last weeks I've informed me a bit of some laptops but I'am not really sure:
My favorite is Samsung R560-Aura P8400 Madril but my last notebook had an ATI graphic card and the last months I was really enthusiastic about the getting better official drivers.
And whats with the the FN-keys, webcam, bluethooth, wlan card and support? Some experiences?
    Thanks, Andreas

  • Need Help to re-download my Photoshop Elements 12+Premiere Elements 12 to a new laptop Win-8 64-bit

When I purchased the special deal of Photoshop Elements 12+Premiere Elements 12, I owned a Windows Vista (32-bit) laptop. When I downloaded my purchase, all went smoothly, no problems w/Photoshop when I used the mouse's wheel-scroll feature, it helped me zoom in to specifically pinpoint areas in pictures t/b fixed, etc.
I now have a NEW laptop ... Windows 8 (64-bit). I re-downloaded my Photoshop Elements 12+Premiere Elements 12 onto my new one. Options to download the Premiere Elements showed I should use the "bottom" option to download for Win-8/64-bit - did that w/no problem. There were NO OPTIONS showing that the Photoshop Elements 12 had to ALSO be using a specific way to be downloaded? Consequently, I think (?), the problem that I'm having in using the mouse's wheel-scrolling feature may have been affected by using the "normal" format to download???
So here's my question:  Because I bought this combined deal, should I have ALSO used the bottom option showing installation for 64-bit Premiere Elements 12??? I WOULD APPRECIATE A TIMELY RESPONSE - NEED HELP ON GETTING MY PHOTOSHOP WORKING PROPERLY, NOW!
Thank you in advance for any help/suggestions that can resolve my frustrating experience on this!

Oops!!!! I accidentally found my answer within my Photoshop Elements 12 "Preferences" folder! Only one part of my question remains --- what about how to download it as a 64-bit option, or does it matter at all?
Sorry to have panicked about this, but when I started using it, the cursor movements seemed unstable so I thought it was because of downloading for a 32-bit instead of my current OS-64bit!

  • New laptop, existing iPad and snyc issues

Ok.  New laptop installed. iTunes installed.  All apps transferred. iTunes music and other sourced music available in iTunes. All my PDF files in iTunes
And yes the new iTunes is authorised on my Apple ID.
    But...
I need to sync my PDFs and I get "The iPad is synced with another computer..." do I want to "Erase and Sync".
    This leaves me with questions:
Why can't I migrate to the new laptop?
This is from Apple, it should be easy right?
Will "Erase and Sync" mess with my layout (experience tells me yes)?
My iPhone has my music, so it's going to be worse when I move it over right?
Important items to note.  All items (music,apps,pdfs,...) are on the new laptop, but I know where everything is on my iPad/iPhone and I don't want it to change.
    Thoughts and advice appreciated.
    Bruce

Copy the entire /Music/ iTunes/ folder from old computer to /Music/ on new computer.
Everything will sync fine as it iis the same library.
You won't get the Erase & sync message.

  • In the market for a new laptop..

    Hi everyone,
i am currently in the market for a new laptop and seeking some advice.
I am debating between getting a basic rMBR 15' 2.4 GhZ 8/256 model and MBR 2.3 GhZ 4/500. The price for the basic rMBR 15' 2.4 GhZ 8/256 model is 1,867 euros with Apple's friends and family discount i am getting (stock price is 2250 euros here in Ireland). MBR 15' 2.3 GhZ 4/500 starts at 1850 euros and i am not getting friends and family discount off that (don't want to go into details). In any case this isn’t the sort of cash I have lying around.
Apple’s rMBP is a wonder of modern engineering, there is no doubt about that. What i am concerned about is all the software that has to update to add higher res images which takes time and a lot more space because they are effectively doubling the size of the image and my general browsing experience where buttons, logos and anything affected by Photoshop’s “Save for the Web” setting will look blurry or pixelated. This is certainly not the kind of experience I am looking forward to after spending 2k on a laptop.
I'm not a heavy user also I like to take my stuff around with me and I do a little Pro Tools and Logic once in a while.
    Any thoughts are appreciated.

What you were told is not correct. Apple doesn't care where your music originated and nothing will be "blocked", but you can only sync your iPhone to one device at a time.
When you first connect your iPhone to a different Mac or PC, you will see a dialog similar to the following (substitute iPhone for iPad - the result is the same):
It will do exactly what it says. If you "Erase and Sync" the iPhone will be erased first. So, make sure whatever music you have on the iPhone is stored someplace else first. Transfer that music to your new Mac's iTunes Library, and then sync your iPhone to it. You will lose nothing that way.

  • HT4914 I purchased iMatch because my old computer was failing and I was afraid of losing my music library. Now I bought a new laptop; what is the best way for me to transfer my library to my new laptop? Will iMatch help me do this?

I purchased iMatch because my old computer was failing and I was afraid of losing my music library. Now I bought a new laptop; what is the best way for me to transfer my library to my new laptop? Will iMatch help me do this?

    Is/was failing or has failed?
If the old computer still runs one of these methods may be best.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
I don't have personal experience with iTunes Match, but in principle you should be able to download all the tracks currently registered to your iTunes Match account. This isn't quite the same as restoring your previous library exactly as it was. There is always the potential for iTunes match to provide the wrong version of a song and could be content such as movies, podcasts, audiobooks etc. that would have been excluded.

  • Help in choosing a new laptop.

I am getting ready to go back to school and feel its time to get a new laptop since the majority of my classes will be online. Price is not an issue, I will be using my laptop for class work, watching movies, surfing the web, music, and some work with photos. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    My thoughts:
I think what xl posted about having a blu ray drive is good advice if you plan to watch movies of all kinds. BUT the only issue here is that the cheapest new computer I saw with a drive from my search was $1,347.I know you said no budget limit but as a former student as well...yeah...
I think you would be better off getting a usb hub/with a usb blu ray drive.
I would probably suggest something like this

  • I need help choosing a new laptop computer

    Hello
I currently have a lenovo 16in laptop and it craps out on me--I'm ready for a new comptuer.
I need it to be able to do research, write multiple documents and most importantly it needs to be portable and durable.
I am interested in the google chromebook but very hesistant.
    Please help!!

    Hey Taryn,
I understand you want a new laptop to do research, write documents, and browse the internet. Thank you for such great info to start out!! I have a couple questions.
Do you have any brands already in mind? What is your idea price range? And when you say portable, are you talking about a netbook or just a small laptop? I'm looking at laptops that Best Buy sells but answering these questions will really help me start to narrow it down for you!
Also, are you going to need your laptop for anything else other than the basic tasks you already listed??
    Thanks!

  • New laptop - slow restart, fast "shutdown/poweron" ?

    Hi,
I got a new laptop the other day, installed Office, Skype, Chrome etc.
I did a windows update to update everything
There was a Nvidia update too (something to do with making it compatible with GTA5)
After all of that - I now have a laptop which will boot really quite fast from a "shutdown",
but hangs for a minute or two with a black screen (just before the login) if I do it via a "restart"
    Any ideas ?

Make sure you have downloaded the latest Flash Player.

  • Palm Z22 won't sync to new laptop Windows Vista 64 bit

I just got a new laptop and I am unable to sync my Palm Z22 with windows vista 64 bit.  My computer keeps saying I need a device driver installed but it can't find it.  I did read some of the other threads but am still confused.  My laptop is bluetooth compatible but my palm is not.  Is there a way to make my Palm bluetooth capable?  Or any other way for the device to sync?
    Post relates to: Palm Z22

Because the Z22 has neither Bluetooth or Wi-Fi (and has no way to add either, because it lacks an expansion card slot), the only way to Hotsync your Z22 to a Vista 64-bit computer is with Infrared (IR) beaming.  That means you will need to buy an IR adapter for your computer.  I don't have direct experience in making it work, but this thread discusses how:

  • Purchased CS3, installed it on a new laptop.  Serial number provided by Adobe not accepted by Dreamweaver.

I have a new laptop.  I logged into my Adobe account and obtained the serial number for CS3.  I also downloaded the applications. When starting Dreamweaver, it asks for the serial number, but when entered, does not recognize the number as a valid serial number.

Lawtechguy please make sure you are utilizing the registered serial number under your account at http://www.adobe.com/.  You can find additional details on how to locate your serial number at Find your serial number quickly - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html.
If you have a retail license and need to download a fresh copy of the installation files then they are available at Download CS3 products.
If you continue to experience difficulties then did you migrate/transfer/copy over any applications or files to this new laptop?

  • Getting a New Laptop

I have around 900 dollars that i'm willing to spend on a laptop that i'm going to use for minor video editing and just everyday use aside from that.
I was looking into the HP - Pavilion Laptop with Intel® Core™ i3 Processor - Espresso Black - dv6-2155dx- 4Gb ram and 500gb hard drive.  But now it has been taken off the website.
Are there any other suggestions for a new laptop? preferably with at least 4-6gb of ram and 2+Ghz of processor speed.

@davidg  I agree with No121Else, the HP's will work out great. Though I would recommend the i5 over the i3 for video editing purposes. Though I have a Mac, whenever I use iMovie my computer always runs slower, as i'm requiring more processing power. The i5 has turbo boost technology, that speeds up the computers processing power when you are doing things like video editing, to ensure that you have the same smooth experience. The i3 is great and still has 4-way multitasking (hyperthreading), but the i5 will be even better. The i7's are more in the $999 range, but I would even recommend you looking into it as well. It's our top of the line processor, has turbo boost and has 8 way multi-tasking. On this processor doing things like downloading music, streaming videos and video editing at the same time should run just as smoothly as writing a word document in Microsoft. lol That last analogy and is my view and no way the official views of Intel, but I hope now you can see the difference between the different levels of processors.

  • Which graphics card needed for CS3 to run on a new laptop?

Hi - I'm shopping for a new laptop and would like to install my CS3 software onto it. At the moment I've decided on a customized HP 8570P with these specifications: 1600x900 display, 700 GB disk drive, and 2 main memory slots with one 8 MB SIMM for now with the option to increase to 16MB in the future.
My question is: should I go with the Intel HD Graphics 4000 card or the AMD Radeon HD 7570M? I plan to upgrade to CS6 eventually but would really like to get CS3 up and running on the new laptop before then. Thanks in advance for your help

  • Scamner not working after connecting to a new laptop

connected c5180 to a new laptop.  installed the drivers from the HP website.  when I try to scan a document, I do through all the selections on the screen hit scan and nothing happens.  I get the impression it thinks it's scanning as the display on the laptop has the spinning circle.  afer about a minute the scanner is in a ready state, but nothing at all happens with the device.  The c5180 has a small display, does not show a acan is in progress.
now when I try to scan from the scan button on the 5180, the display show that a scan is in progress, but nothing happens in terms of a scan actually being done.
Any help with the is much appreciated
    Rob

Hello @Rob1216 , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are having issues scanning. I'd like to help!
Does this issue occur when making a copy as opposed to a scan?
I'd recommend starting with a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
