My new Mac doesn't recognize my iTunes Match account, asks me to register and pay again
I think the title says it all.
I used to have a Mac laptop, using the paid service iTunes Match for less than a year.
My computer broke down, so I bought a new Mac,
when I log in with my account at the iTunes,
it says that I have to pay and register for an iTunes Match account again.
It's like it doesn't remember that I already have one.
How can I solve this issue please?

You need to log in to the iTunes Store with the exact same Apple ID you used to purchase the service.

That's not an Apple ID. That is your admin account which you can view in System Preferencs > Accounts or Users & Groups.

why i cannot search any music on my itunes? is it necessary to register and pay an annual fee in order to usa the itunes in your ipad?
To search your music library on your iPad, use the music icon. The I tunes button takes you to the store where you can buy more music or videos. To play your won music etc you do not need to be connected to apple, the music is on your pad.
If you want to get new stuff from iTunes, and load it onto your pad, you need an account. Your account is your apple id. -
I have itunes match in the cloud working fine at home and have an issue with it on the 2nd computer (at work) not letting me access any. It simply says to pay again and subscribe to match again! I obviously do not want to pay twice. How do I get the work comp to recognise I already have a paid itunes match account and access my music?. I have "authorised" both comps and my ipod. My ipod seems to work fine and uses the cloud etc. Why can't the work mac?
This works IF the Cloud is working, which it has had a nasty habit of not doing with regularity the last several months. It seemed at first to be isolated, but this is a regular non-feature lately, with Music, TV Shows and Movies. I have brought this behavior to the Forums all too often. Best to download them all to your own "cloud" in the form of a separate media back up drive, they are cheap. Also, if a media type (eg, song, movie, tv show or episode) is no longer available in the iTunes Store, it is solid gone. That is where the cloud gets cloudy...

New Mac Doesn't Recognize Old Mac For Firewire Migration
I attempted to migrate my files from my G5 desktop to my new Intel desktop MacPro using Migration Assistant and a Firewire cable. It instructed me to connect the two Macs with a Firewire cable and restart the old Mac holding down the "T" key. I did just that, the Firewire logo came up on my old Mac as a screensaver, but the new Mac just sat there saying, "Waiting for disc" or something like that. Rebooting both computers had no effect.
Some additional background -- I started the process earlier today and it worked fine, but I aborted (by disconnecting the Firewire cable) after realizing it would take over seven hours to complete. I then upgraded the new Mac from Tiger to Leopard with an Erase and Install. When I attempted the process again later, the new Mac would no longer recognize the old one.
Could it be a case of Leopard not recognizing Tiger? Any other suggestions?For anyone else experiencing this problem, I wound up having to reformat my new computer with Tiger before it would recognize the old computer. :/

How do you move an iphone from one mac to a new mac when both are using Itunes Match
I have an Imac (Mountain Lion) with two users sharing an Itunes account (Ver 11). We each have iphones syncing to the computer (and to icloud separatly). I have just activated Itunes match on the IMac and on both phones. I just bought a new MacBookPro and have activated Itunes match on it so I am sharing Itunes. Now, I want to move one of the iphones to the new MacBook and have it backing up to that computer instead of the Imac. How should I proceed with synching the phone with the new computer? How about the photos on the iphone? Will they just load into the iphoto library on my new MacBook Pro.
Also, can I still synch the phones manually and move over playlist from Itunes to the phone? I am assuming that when you turn off itunes match on the phone those playlists will be active. I want to make sure that say, when I am on a plane or have no wifi or cell, that I can still use the phone as an Ipod. With Itunes match you are streaming and always need a signal. Basically I was using a registered copy of the download converter through Firefox v4.1 and then I needed to upgrade my PC and that included a new disk. Whilst reinstalling software I'm now on Firefox v5 and I assume that my new disk does not contain the download converter registration details. Is there anyway I can pull through my registration from my old hard disk and if so which file do I need to look at?
If necessary I will re-register but I'd rather explore the free option first.

Mac doesn't recognize shuffle and opening iTunes with Shuffle crashes Mac
I recently updated to iTunes 7. Now my Mac doesn't recognize my year old shuffle when I plug it in, and when I open iTunes it freezes the Mac.
I have been monitoring this forum on and off for weeks looking for a solution for my shuffle disfunction and this appears to be it.
My shuffle would play songs and recharge on my iMac but would not be recognized by iMac by any of the expected means. This problem started after updating to iTunes 7. Tried uninstalling 7, and any of the other suggestions here that could work with out communication between iMac and shuffle, since the shuffle would not link to the computer.
I had resigned myself to a shuffle that played only the songs currently loaded until it finally died. But, using the 06-06-28 updater worked for me as well, although it was a bit of a quirky process. Once launched, the updater immediately recognized my shuffle (first sign of life in weeks). When I chose the update button, it ran through an update but said there was an error after finishing and that I should disconnect, re-connect, and try again.
Just disconnecting the shuffle mad the updater crash. I had to restart my mac, but when restarted my shuffle launched itunes and there it was. It appears to be fully functional again and I jut cancel when it says there is an update available for my iPod.

New imac doesn't recognize firewire 400
Just got the new imac and transferred all data from my old (non-intel) imac using a firewire 400-to-800 adapter.
Now, my new imac doesn't recognize my external (400 firewire) drives anymore. One of the drives has an USB which works with the new mac but transfers are very vey slow. The other drive has only firewire 400 and doesn't get recognized at all.
Any solutions?
Thanks.Adapters can be troublesome, I'd recommend replacing with a Firewire 400 to 800 cable like this one. You can normally find these at your local computer store, Radio Shack or of course Amazon.

Migrated old back-up to new MacBook Pro, but now new machine doesn't recognize old back-up
So last night I migrated my old back-up to my new MacBook Pro, but this morning my new machine doesn't recognize my old back-up. I'd rather not erase and back-up from scratch for numerous reasons (losing the old data, time, etc).
Any suggestions? I'll bet this is a realatively common issue?

Also maybe we can figure out what went wrong with the tmutil command. It is possible that you may have to use additional options.
But first le's see who owns the old backup....
From the terminal command line try this:
sudo xattr -l "path to your backup"
Where "path to your backup" is tha same path exactly as used in the tmutil command, that is:
/Volumes/"Backups Device Name"/Backups.backupdb/"Backup Name"
You should get something like this for output:

The "BackupMachineAddress" is the MAC address of the Ethernet port your mother board.
You can find the MAc address in About this Mac-> More Info. -> System report -> Network -> Ethernet 1
The "HostUUID" is the identifier of your mother board.
You can find it in About this Mac-> More Info. -> System report ->Hardware Overview [that's the first thing that shows when you select System report]
These are the way the connection of the backup to a machine is made.
Now the tmutil inheritbackup comand should have set them to the correct values for your new machine.
But let's' see if any of them match the new machine and then see of we haveany more options.

when I plug my iPhone in to my computer, iTunes doesn't recognize it as a device. I have deleted and re-downloaded iTunes twice which seems to fix the problem temporarily but then the next time I plug my phone in, the device is not recognized.
What happens if you go to iTunes > File > Devices, do you get the option to Sync iPhone?
