My new Macbook Air doesn't pair with my bluetooth speaker (Jambox or Big Blue).  Why?

I've tried two different bluetooth speakers (Jambox abd Big Blue) and both don't pair with my MacBook Air.  Anyone have the same problems?

For those interested, i managed to get the Big Blue speaker to pair with my MBA.  I thought I had tried this, but i went to the bluetooth icon and chose Set Up Bluetooth Device.  It recognized the speaker and paired.  Prior to that I was trying the Browse Device option, but that didn't work.  Still nothing on the Jambox though.

  • TS4006 my iCal in my new MacBook Air doesn't sync with the iCal data in my iPad despite having it "checked" (ON) in the system preferences iCloud. what else do i have to do to activate the iCal and have sync with my iPad?

    Issue: iCal
I can't sync the iCal in my new MacBook Air with the existing iCal in my iPad. I went to system preferences (settings) to iCloud and checked the iCal to enable it to sync to my existing iPad iCal. Still nothing happened. It's strange because i successfully synced my contacts doing the same thing. Is there anything I have to have my iCal activated in my new MacBook Air?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

  • My new macbook air is not synching with my iPod classic anymore

any ideas on why my new macbook air is not synching with my iPod classic anymore?  It used to just show up on iTunes but it's not there now

iTunes will only transfer music from the iPhone that were bought at Apple's iTunes store. You'll need to use a third party program such as Senuti to transfer music you got from other sources.

  • MacBook Pro will not pair with any Bluetooth device

Last night my MacBook Pro stopped pairing with any bluetooth device (I've tried Apple Pro Wireless Keyboard, Wireless Mighty Mouse, Logitech MX900 mouse, Apple Aluminum Wireless Keyboard) and it simply won't pair with anything.
It sees each device but when it tries to pair it fails. With the keyboards, sometimes it'll give me the passkey to type on the keyboard but then it doesn't recognize that I've actually typed it and hit enter. Eventually I just end up with:
"The pairing attempt was unsuccessful. Make sure your keyboard is in range of this computer, turned on and "discoverable." When ready, click Continue to try again."
I've reinstalled 10.5.6 Combo update, tried to pair under a different user account, turned off/on bluetooth, and still nothing.
I did install VMWare Fusion last night and briefly shared the Bluetooth connection to that, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.
    Any suggestions?

    Me too. sigh
All was well until this afternoon, when I swapped out the batteries on my trusty old Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer for Bluetooth, which has worked flawlessly for me for a few years now. After I put new batteries in, my MBP wouldn't recognize it. I went through the Bluetooth Setup Assistant, and it "saw" the mouse and properly listed it as "Microsoft Mouse". I hit "continue", of course, and the Assistant said "Pairing with your Bluetooth mouse". It got as far as "Connection established" (and I saw the mouse appear in the Bluetooth preference pane", but then I got the dreaded red words: "The pairing attempt was unsuccessful. Make sure your mouse is in range of this computer, turned on and "discoverable." Etc., etc. I made sure of all of those things and tried again, many times, with the same failure every time. I tried different batteries, rebooted the Mac, and so on. No luck.
Figuring my mouse was dead, I went out and bought a Kensington Slimblade Bluetooth Presenter Mouse, brand new, never been paired with anything. Same problem!
Also, I can no longer get my Palm Treo 650 to sync via Bluetooth. It used to be a little flaky (often complained that the port was in use by another application), but rebooting the Treo always solved that. Now, it doesn't.
One trusty old mouse suddenly stops pairing, one brand-new one refuses to pair, smartphone won't sync any more. I haven't installed any system updates or anything else since the Microsoft mouse worked. The only weird thing going on is that I'm having massive network connectivity issues with my broadband connection (probably a flaky cable modem), and a couple of days ago I bought a new Airport Extreme a/b/g/n wireless router, which is at the other end of the house from my computer and now-defunct mice.
Very bizarre. Can the Bluetooth chip or antenna in a MacBook Pro burn out or otherwise fail?
    Puzzled and frustrated,

  • NEW Macbook air and external HDD with windows files

    Hi,
I just bought (2 days ago) my first MAC (finally). After so many years of working with windows it was time to get of the dark side . Anyway, this is not my first time around apple products (I had iphones and ipads) so I know some basic stuff like iCloud, keychain etc. I bought 13inc macbook air, 128 GB SSD.
    Now this is my problem:
Although I worked on a windows computer I was saving all my files (work related, movies, music, tvshows, photos- a lot of them) on my external HDD (500 GB). Now, when I transfered to Mac I would like to have my Word, PPT and music files on my mac but not the photos, those I would like to keap on my EHDD. Can this actually work without some work around file extensions and EHDD formating? Can I use my EHDD like this? I know that it is both for Windows and MAC (it was written on the box).

I depends in what format the external drive is formatted as to how easy this is going to be.
I bet there is a good chance it is NTFS. If so, some moderately bad news. The Mac OS can read it, but not write to it natively, unless it is a networked drive.
Sure, you can add third party functionality to the Mac, so it will write to the external drive, but I would avoid it if possible. If your drive is already formatted FAT 32, or ExFAT, then you can perform cross platform reading and writing, without issue.
Fortunately we live in a time where most external drives are now relatively inexpensive. If you don't want to, or can't reformat that drive, because you have no space to put the files in the interim (I hope they are not just in place, anyway), consider buying a new external drive for sharing purposes.
    Just my 2 cents.

  • MUSIC SKIPPING OR PLAYING TOO FAST WHEN PAIRED WITH A BLUETOOTH SPEAKER?

    Hi
I am writing to help others with this problem - there seem to be a number of posts about this, which have not been resolved.
I have just bought a Veho bluetooth speaker, which pairs and works perfectly with my brother's phone.  However, although it does pair with my iPhone 4S, when I playback any music from my library, it sounds like a chipmunk is singing - it plays far too quickly and sometimes skips large parts of the song.
This is a firmware issue but can easily be solved by downloading the free app 'TuneMob' from the store (it is free).  You can simply add albums from your library to its interface and it plays them perfectly through any speaker, irrespective of which OS you have installed.  I hope this helps you!

Try resetting the PMU/SMU and PRAM/NVRAM. You'd need to identify the mode of resetting depending on the model of your G5 iMac. The Apple support sites that would help you for this are –

I hope this solves your problem.

  • New macbook air didn't come with Mavericks?

I ordered a MBA last week from the apple store and received it today -ordered it with additional RAM.  I am surprised it didn't come with Mavericks installed since the version of the OS was released last month.  Anyone know a reason for this?

There are a few people getting such machines, they can do it for you at the Apple store if you need help, its free regardless.
As for "new old stock" , we are talking about something thats only a few weeks old as "old stock without mavericks".

  • My new macbook air doesn't included ms office

    what can i do?

Generally speaking, Windows computers do not include Microsoft Office either (unless you purchase it separately)!
Apple computers do not generally include either Microsoft Office or iWork, which is Apple's Office-like product suite.  These are typically purchased separately.
Often, Apple computers do include iLife (iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand).

  • My new iPhone 5 will not pair with the Bluetooth in my 2008 Prius. I see that I'm not alone. Will there be a fix for this problem ?

Will there be a fix for the Bluetooth problems that me and many other iPhone 5 owners are experiencing?

Go to the settings in your Jeep, "forget" the iPhone. And on the iPhone "forget" the jeep. Then put the Jeep in Pairing Mode and tap Settings/BlueTooth on the phone and pair them anew (which sounds less confusing than "repair them").

  • The NEW MACBOOK AIR ***** PLZ SOMEONE HELP ME GET THIS ACROSS TO SOMEONE AT APPLE

    Hi,
My Name is Essa and i live in Bahrain. I fell in love wih apple ever since i bought a macbook in 2005. The laptop (which im using now) has been with me for over 6 years. Not only i was happy with my product, i purchased more products, such as 3 iphones, all for me, a ipod nano the new one with the touch screen and the first edition of the iPad. I have never had a problem and everytime i would tell my friends if they needed a laptop to get a mac and be safe with it. I decided in august to get the new macbook air. The problem after a few months of using it, it started to act up. By act up i mean everytime i start it up the computer would freeze on the welcome screen and the arrow would be stuck in the top corner, and after several times of trying to start it up it just kept giving me that (PING) sound and would not load. I took it to the sale agent here in bahrain. They are called Apple Center. They were extremly nice, and worked on my laptop and they came back to me and said that there was an error with your logic board and it will take 4 weeks to fix it, as they had to recieve the parts form the states. I gladly gave them my laptop and waited for 4 weeks, keep in mind that i still used my old macbook in 2005 and it was stable as the day i bought it. After 4 weeks of waiting they said we have fixed the problem, and he showed me that the laptop was working fine. I closed the top keeping it on sleep mode. When i got home i realized that the same problem exisited that when the operating system loads up the cursor is stuck in the top left corner and mouse pad and keyboard were not working. After several times of shutting down the laptop and starting it up again i ended up with the same result. It kept giving me that (PING) sound and wouldnt load. I will be taking my laptop in on monday morning again and im assuming i will be waiting for another 4 weeks maybe more. Could you please explain to me what happened to Apple? What has made your company start producing laptop that were as crappy a windows based computers. The reason i switched over is because i found the stability is outstanding and nothing could go wrong. Plus the old laptop which im sending the messege from is my old macbook. It is still good, and doesnt crash. So why did i just spend over 1,500 dollars for a laptop that died after 3 months of purchase? I dont know how well apple takes care of their international customers, but to be honest i am fairly dissapointed with this product, and i wish that i didnt buy the new macbook air and just stuck with the old one. Please if anyone reads this msg and is able to help me in anyway to send it across i would greatly appreciate it. I will be posting my phone number at the bottom hopping for a call from apple.
For those who read this and help i owe you a lot, if I dont get any replies or a responce from them im sure that i am screaming into a black hole and that apple really do not care about their customers and instead of winning i would just choose a different product from now on.
    Regards,
    Essa Al Alawi
Hoping for someone to answer me back

Don't take your laptop back. Find out the number for Apple Care in your part of the world and call them. Tell your story to them. If the person on the phone can't help you, ask for their supervisor. Keep asking for supervisors until you get exactly what you want to get. If that mean you want to get the problem fixed without having the computer gone for four weeks, then keep asking for supervisors till you get someone who can do that for you.
Be prepared to be on the phone for a while, so arrange a speaker phone, water to hand etc. Be patient.
As for "crappy computers"--my MBA has worked flawlessly since the day I got it. As good if not better than any Apple laptop I've ever had, and I've had several. This is the thing though, there is a percentage of failure rate that occurs in electronics. It occurs whether we're talking about televison sets or toasters. If it's electric, it has that failure rate. Now sometimes a thing will be bad and in that case the word gets out and everyone knows that particular electronic has surpassed the normal failure percentage. The Airs, however, have not done that. Their reputation, so far, has been incredibly solid and good. So you can assume that you, unfortunately, got one out of that small percentage of electronics that have an issue.
Laptops, let us remember, are doing a lot in a very small area. A lot can go wrong, and it's pretty amazing how many don't, especially given how many are made and sold. Sometimes we get the bad apple in the barrel, it doesn' t mean that the company making it has gone down hill. We hope the manager of the store, or the company, or someone will do right by us. If they don't, then we need to make sure they do. Keep asking for upper management till you get what you want.

  • Migration from old macbook air to new macbook air...beware

Although spent hours on the phone with Apple and bought necessary cables, they were not able to get migration assistant to work using ethernet.
You can't use firewire as new macbook air doesn't have it. You can use thunderbold as old macbook air doesn't have it.
Finally I was told to use Time Machine. After connecting old macbook air backup to new macbook air and using migration assistant, I got a message saying (essentially) 'you can use this from an old mac'. Spent more time on the phone with Senior tech support. They had no clue.
Finally called the store. Genius said, you can't migrate from old macbook air with Snow Leopard to new macbook air with Lion. You must upgrade old macbook air to Lion first.
GEEZ, do you think someone at tech support might have mentioned that DAYS ago?

    That is bad info.
The MBA that I am using right now used a TM backup from my old MBP, which was running Snow Leopard. Absolutely no problems using Setup Assistant to import all the apps, data, user settings. The session performed flawlessly, and took about an hour to move everything.
If at all possible, use Setup Assitant, rather than Migration Assistant. The transition will be seamless.

  • Macbook air won't pair to bluetooth

My macbook air won't pair with bluetooth capable devices.  It'll show that my iPhone 5 is paired but for error reasons won't connect.  It used to be able to connect to bluetooth no problem...but after a harddrive crash on a new macbook air, it hasn't worked since.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You seem to want to argue.  I KNOW there is no limit to the number of devices...the POINT is that if it was paired with another computer, it NEEDS to be deleted from that computer.
Incidentally, I assumed you wanted help.  If you wish to decide you already have the answer, I will not waste any more of my time.

  • New MacBook Air change OS

If I buy a brand new MacBook Air it will come with Maverick OS. I like Mountain Lion, Can install Mountain Lion my self? would that generate any problem? Thanks

It would not cause a problem no, however Mavericks in most all things appears identical to ML in general use, as such its not something "hard to switch to learn to use"
Some macbook Air on some shelf somewhere still has Mountain Lion on it,....where however,...who knows.

  • My macbook air doesn't have phone under messages - not syncing

my new macbook air doesn't seem to be syncing messages like my mini, ipad and macbook pro do.  I noticed under the Preferences, it has my two .me and .icloud email accounts, but doesn't have the phone number in there or any way to add it.
on another note, it also won't let me connect by bluetooth to my iphone 5 (running IOS7 beta) to use my ATT hotspot - when the other's do...
it also wouldn't allow remote disk installation of my adobe products (when mini worked just fine over remote).
Not sure if they are all related, but strange problems I'm having...

    HI,
Are you talking about Messages > Preferences > Accounts ?
You can add @me.com and @icloud.com IDS as valid AIM Screen Names.
One can be used as the iMessages account.
On the iPhone > Settings > Messages remove the Apple ID.
    Set Messages to Off.
Wait a few minutes and then turn Messages back on again
    Add the Apple ID.
Restart the Mac version of Messages.
You should now get one or two pop ups saying the iPhone is using the Apple ID and the iPhone Number
Accepting these adds the iPhone Number to the Receive At list of "Aliases" and the Send From (Start New Conversations from) drop down.

  • IPhone 4s will not pair with car bluetooth

My new iphone 4s will not pair with the bluetooth in my 07 Volvo XC70. The blue tooth is after market, looks similar to internet photos of Motorolla T605. Blue tooth says to put in scan mode and then enter code when prompted. Pairing fails and then the screen for the code shows up on the phone.
I had a iPhone 3s paired with this Bluetooth, and once when I did a reset of that phone had this issue, put through many attempts it eventually paired. Despite many attempts, I cannot get the 4S running IOS 5 to pair.
The phone does pair with a motorolla bluetooth ear piece.

I've been having this issue since I got an iPhone 4S last week.  (Upgraded from iPhone 4 on iOS 5.0.1)
I would think that this is a software issue but I went ahead and visited an AT&T store to see about a replacement phone.  I was directed to go to an Apple store which I then did.  I explained this bluetooth issue I was having as well as the other issue with no audio on outbound calls (described in a different thread) and they gave me a new phone.
Well, I've tested it several times now with the nav/handsfree systems in two different cars as well as with my headset.  All is good so far!  No drop of bluetooth connection, can switch at will between audio sources and no lack of audio on outbound calls any more.  (And these problems were happening frequently before, even after a complete restore.)
