My new macbook air is asking me to type in an Administrators name and password I have no idea where to find this???

can anyone help me with finding where i submit an administrators name and password

If you are in the Setup Assistant then you choose them. If you have already gone through the Setup Assistant then you should have configured these in the process. Your username is the filename you find under your Home folder's icon in the /Users/ folder. It looks like a home:
The username is below it.

Do you still have a Recovery partition? To see if you do, hold down the command and R keys whilst booting and erase your boot drive and then reinstall the version of OS X that you last paid for or downloaded.
Call back if that doesn't work...

  • I'm trying to use my bluetooth for the first time and I'm having trouble connecting to my vehicle. My data control in my vehicle asks me for a 4 digit security pin. I have no idea where to find this. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know where to access my 4 digit security PIN from my iphone 4?
I dont ever recall programming a PIN into my phone.
I need it to pair up my bluetooth with my vehicle audio system.

    Hi there,
the 4 digit pin is usually default to 0000 or 1111.
If pairing, it can also be anything you choose, providing that you enter the same 4 digits into both items to pair.
    Good luck!

  • I have a new MacBook Air with Yosemite (no CD/DVD capacity). I want to install Photoshop Elements 6. Can I do this with the serial number? If pse 6 is not compatible, can I upgrade to pse 7. I do not need pse 12 or 13.

I cannot answer regarding compatibility, but there is no download available for PSE6 if you would need one for this.  You might be able to copy the installation files from a disk to some other removable media that the machine accepts.  Upgrading to PSE7 would not be possible mainly because Adobe does not sell older versions of their software.

I hope you bought this from a store, you can return it and get your money back. BUT if you bought from a person off the street or off the net, someone you don't know... I'm thinking you just got screwed! And are out the money and have an expensive paper weight. I hope I'm wrong, but I think you have a stolen iPod. If you can find the person that sold it to you return it and get your money back, but I'm thinking they are long gone. If you can not find the person report it to the police and turn it over. Sorry and Good luck.

  • Husband bought me a new Macbook Air but everything on the computer is in his name even though I'm signed w/ my Apple ID

My husband bought a new Macbook Air from Best Buy for me as a gift. While everything is great, I am having an issue with everything being under his name.  I've linked it to my Apple ID and signed into my iCloud but whenever I turn on the MBA and login his name appears. Same with emails. Whenever I send an email from my account, his name appears in the name section.  I tried replacing his name with mine but it just keeps coming back.
He thinks that since he used his Best Buy rewards card, they somehow registered the laptop under his name though I'm not sure if this is possible, or why they'd even do that in situations like this where the MBA is a gift for someone else.
    I'd appreciate any help.
    thanks in advance

Ok, then do the same thing as before, EXCEPT do not click accounts, but click preferences under "messages".  Then click accounts and disable the one you don't want.
    Here is what I mean.
Not sure if this pic shows up.

  • Just got a new Macbook Air. How can I get quicktime to play wmv and other video formats?

I just purchased a new Macbook Air. I have loaded quicktime, but it doesn't play all formats such as wmv and others. What is the best way to accomplish this?

Download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac and operating system, of:
    RealPlayer SP for Mac from:
    http://www.real.com/realplayer/mac
Flip4Mac WMV Player from  http://www.telestream.net/flip4mac-wmv/overview.htm  (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from  http://perian.org/
You should read this support page  http://perian.org/#support   in case you need to delete older codecs.  In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them), particularly any DivX extension to Safari. However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from  http://www.divx.com/en/software/mac
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFl ash
You can check here what version of Flash player you actually have installed:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • New MacBook Air backed up from my Time Capsule.  Now Mail and Safari won't open, I just bought a new MacBook Air and backed up from my Time Capsule.  Now Mail and Safari won't open

I just bought a new MacBook Air after my old one suffered a drink being spilled on it and died.  I used migration assistant to back up from my time capsule but now it won't open Mail or Safari and iTunes can't find all my music.  Any ideas how to fix this? I have downloaded software updates.

Thanks for that advice however now I have a duplicate of all my documents on my hard drive but the Mail and Safari will not open.  I have been able to open iTunes. I have tried to download software updates for Mail and Safari and this tells me that the download was unsuccessful ( after taking some time to download).  Can I reinstall the system?  Would that help?

  • I reinstalled my mac os x, and anytime i try to update my software its asking me for an administrators name and password, i enter it and it comes back wrong, and that is the only one i have, i have been to keychain but it does not make any sense to me,

i have just reinstalled my mac os x, in fact yesterday, i have not been able to update my software or change anything at all, i try to do a software update and it is asking me for an administrators username and password that was not happening before, i enter the username and password i created and it comes back wrong, its driving me nuts, been to keychain but unable to figure it out, its asking for a system unlock and i have no clue what that is.
    am desperate.

Stick the 10.6 disk into the computer and reboot holding the c or option key down, select the disk to boot from.
In the installer menu is a Utiltiies menu and a password reset.
If you don't remmember the name, reboot the computer holding the command and s keys down
a black screen with white type appears, when it's finished, dbackspace any extra ssss you have made and then type
    ls /Users
(that's Larry, Sam, space, slash, Users)
and press return, a list of user names on the machine appears
type exit and reboot and use the 10.6 disk to reset your password

  • I am trying set my email (my old uni one) as the default email on my iPad. It's a microsoft exchange one. How can I do this it asks me what the server is and I have no idea how to find this out? And even if I do will that work?

An answer to a similar question on this said they (they not specified as to who) needed to enable two things POS or something and I have no idea what that means. Is it even possible to make it my default mail if it's Microsoft exchange?

If you're simply referring to adding a mail account that uses an IMAP server, the short answer is yes, it will work. What did you mean by default email? You can setup multiple mail accounts so you shouldn't have to worry about a default mail account. To setup additional accounts (or delete for that matter), you can go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendar>Select the Account (Delete) or Add Account.
What is your mail provider? Often you can contact your IT department, or if it's a common mail server, googling will find the server relatively easily (ie: gmail: 'Google'  'imap server for gmail'). If, by default mail, you mean your Apple ID, yes you can also create an Apple ID that uses an IMAP associated email address. Your Apple ID can pretty much be any email address as long as you have access to it to confirm the account's creation.

  • I am being asked for a administrators name and password, is the name of the current user logged in?

I am the only user on my mac, but I keep getting a box opening saying that I need to change my parental controls, it says i need an administrator password, i don't know what this is, I thought it was my user name, but it still won't let me log in.

    Hello Helenrobins69,
If the password field is shaking, it indicates the incorrect password is being entered.  As far as the parental controls goes, it appears that the feature may have accidentally been enabled on your user account.  You can simply turn off parental controls however by following the directions below.
    Turn off parental controls
In Parental Controls preferences, click the lock if it’s not unlocked, and then enter an administrator name and password.
Select the user, and then choose “Turn off Parental Controls” from the Action pop-up menu (looks like a gear).
OS X Mountain Lion: Manage a user with parental controls

  • New administrator name and password without Start Up Drive

I recently seperated from my partner but got to keep the family MacBook Air
However, my partner set up the orginal administrator name and password and won't provide the details. He also won't supply the Start Up Drive which apparently I could use to do this if I had it.
I am not very techy - is there a relatively easy way that I can set up a new administrtor name and passowrd without loosing the information I have on the computer?
    Thanks
