My new machine has win8 64 and firefox will not allow me to type text until I hit the win+f9 key to restore functionality, what does this key combination do?

I have Win8 Enterprise x64 and firefox 20.0.1, I have researched the win f9 key combo and cannot find anything that says what this does to allow me to enter text in firefox. It happens a few times a day and I cannot figure out why this resolves the problem.

I am trying to use time machine to back up the hard drive. For backing up from Macbooik pro and Imac, there is no problem. It seems to not want to allow the external drive to be removed from the Excluded list and as such will not back up from it.
Is there a way to be able to transfer files (music, movies etc) to time machine, format the external drive then put the files back to hard drive?
Sorry it is a long winded question but it is driving me nuts that I cant sort this out.
The <Macbook and Imac are both running mountain lion.

As for the hard drive to which you have never been able to write, is it by any chance in NTFS format? OS X can read NTFS for importing files, but it does not contain code for writing on an NTFS volume. That's a choice, not a bug.
There is third-party software available to install NTFS-writing capability into OS X. An example is Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X. Another alternative would be to use a disk format that both Macs and Windows systems can use for both reading and writing; this would require either a new drive or erase the existing data.
If by "the new system software" you mean OS X 10.9 Mavericks, you may want to repost that portion of your query in the Mavericks forum at https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/os_x_mavericks . I haven't made the leap yet.

Connect the iPod to its syncing computer and restore via iTunes. If iTunes asks for the passcode and you can't enter the passcode or yu do not have the syncing computer, place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore. For recovery mode see:

I have not used Internet explorer since downloading firefox and I need IE for a trading platform that I need to use. In order to get IE working I apparently need to down load the latest version of Yahoo toolbar, however when I try to down load the tool bar Firefox will not allow the down load of that file.

I have lost my AOL toolbar and I can no longer cut and paste when I am in AOL through Firefox. This happened after I installed your newest upgrade to Firefox. Very weird. When I try to install the AOL Toolbar it says that Firefox will not let me install it because the AOL toolbar is corrupt. But I was able to install the AOL toolbar when I went through Internet Explorer. I like going in through Firefox but I may have to go in through Internet Explorer.

I suggest you go to Apple's ID site, log in and update everything. Then you will surely get a confirmation mail.
Once all is done, you will most probably be able to log in to the iTunes store again.

I installed Firefox today and as of yet, I haven't been able to use the Enter button in the address or search bar. I can use every other key except that one. Thus, it makes Firefox unusable and useless. Can anyone help me out? I even went as far as disabling every single addon that came with the default installation of Firefox and uninstalling my AVG. Is it possible that you are not seeing the thirteenth song because you did not scroll all the way down within the playlist?

I recently upgraded firefox to 27.1 and it will not allow me to go log into my college website. It is also incredibly slow, what do I do?

I was previously able to log into humboldt.edu with the old version of fire fox, I finally upgraded because I was getting pestered with pop up windows saying I had to upgrade so I eventually gave in. Now, I am having to deal with scripts and manually having to block or unblock pages (which by the way is frustrating and I hate it, considering that I have no idea what I am doing) and I still cannot log into the one website that is vital in my life right now. I need this fixed now!

Firefox will not allow me to view my own domains. Other people can see them.How do I get access?

Every since I got my new computer, running windows 7, firefox will not allow me to see my own domains. If I unplug Netgar and plug directly into the Wild Blue modem, I can see them with IE or Chrome - but still not with Firefox.

Thanks for the reply. I tried those things with no result. Then I followed the link you sent and found something that MIGHT be the answer if I can find someone to show me how to "send a ping" and "define the subnetmask."
I have no idea what a subnetmask is, let alone how to define it!
But I do feel that the problem has some connection to the router. My old computer has one IP address, while the 3 that won't work all share a different one.
It would really help if I spoke "compuetreze," but I don't.

I have also tried the fixes offered in this forum such as using the "Other" mail in setting up the gmail accounts, and not using the dedicated gmail setting. I also went to google and signed in and enable the additional devices. I had the same problems with the original account I set up for gmail, but it corrected when i went to using the "Other" instead of the Gmail button. I was able to set up the new gmail accounts on my iphone without problem and on my husband's ipad1 for his gmail account. Just the ipad 2 is giving me problems. Again, thanks for any suggestions.

When I swap to private browsing firefox allows me to anter the website address directly into the location bar - but this is a slow [prcess to swap back and forth - also by dint of using private browsing I loose my website information.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I have some information for you that can help you troubleshoot this issue a little further. That information can be found right here:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.

I am in the same boat. I tried repeatedly to contact iTunes support, but was told each time that I had contacted the wrong deaprtment and they could not help me. There must be a way to still be able to use the iTunes store without paying for a system update. If not, I hope they will reimburse me the money I have in my acount.
