New iPhone 5s shut off unexpected and won't turn back on

I just received my new 5s. I activated it. Made a phone call. I was downloading my apps, and using them, when the phone shut off unexpected. I tried to turn the phone back on, the apple logo appeared, then it went to the waiting circle for a couple of minutes. After a couple of minutes the screen had a blue screen for a second, then it went back to the waiting circle, then it turned off. I've tried turning it on a couple of times with the same results. Help!

Congratulations on your new iPhone 5s! I would be concerned too if my iPhone shut off unexpectedly and would not power on. I found an article with steps you can take when you encounter an issue like this. I recommend following the steps below:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.

I understand that you have used Home Sharing to play the music from one computer on another, but now you would like to only use the new computer. It sounds as though you have set up the content to share between computers, but have not actually I’m ported the media from the old computer to the new one. I would suggest following the troubleshooting steps located in the attached article to import you music from the old computer to the new one. After that process is complete, you can turn off Home Sharing if you would like and the content will be in the iTunes library on your new computer.

Thank you for responding. Nothing actually worked! After reading the posts online, I called Apple. They indicated they have seen problems with some software after their upgrades. The technician was able to fix the problem on my computer remotely, but I have no clue what he did! But, it was definitely related to their recent upgrade to my computer.

The first thing I did was UPDATE. I have all the latest updates available (according to the updater). The Camera Raw Plug-in says it is version 8.0.
The RAW files are from a Canon T3i. It's a very common camera, I can't believe it wouldn't be supported.

Photoshop Elements opening on startup, despite having shut it down prior to closure.

I am running Elements 13 on a MacBook Air O SX Yosemite version 10.10.
After installation I encountered the following issues.
1)       Elements 13 Organiser application opened ok and transferred my photos from iPhoto.
2)       Elements 13 Application opened o.k
3)       Elements 13 Editor opened o.k
But latterly, when opening Elements 13 application after 1 second, the screen reverts to another copy of Elements 13 Organiser.
I have attempted to check the Installed files, to check if they are in the right location, cannot see any apparent issues.
Additionally on Start-UP Elements 13 starts automatically despite having quit the programme prior to closure.
Maybe if I completely re-installed Elements 13 the problems might go away.
Your earliest response would be much appreciated.

Sorry for the confusion regarding 2 Copies of Elements 13 Organiser.
What I intended to say is as follows:
On my Dock, after installing Elements 13, there are three adjacent Buttons for the Elements 13 Application from left to right:-
1 Elements 13 Organiser
2 Elements 13
3 Elements 13 Editor
MY ISSUES ARE:
1 Elements Organiser opens o.k.
HOWEVER:
2 Elements 13      (To import work from the Elements Organiser), the following happens:
This section of the application opens only briefly, (1.5 seconds, headed appropriately Elements 1 (But immediately reverts to a repeat copy of the Elements Organiser screen) which is activated by Button 1
Button 3 Elements 13 Editor (opens) O.K.
P.S   Initially the application was working O.K
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean by this? There is only one copy of Elements 13 organizer installed on any mac.
I would start by deleting the preferences and the saved application states for PSE:

I go to open a file and it just lets me have 1 open, I used to have a large workspace, where I could open multiple files and see them all together on same screen - how to I set this so I can back to it? Also I used to be able to right click on an image and get the "Resize-Image" feature, now this is gone too.

I want to get Photoshop Elements 2 off my Windows XP computer after it began posting this message:
Could not complete your request because of missing or invalid personalization information. I can't open it anymore. It does not appear on the Program List off my Start button, nor in the Add/Remove Programs list in Control Panel. Yet the folder appears with all its files in the Adobe folder inside Program Files. Archived Tech Note 327575 http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/327/327575.html explains what to do for Elements 3 on a Mac. What do you do for Elements 2 on a PC?

Anyway, I can't reinstall PE 2 because it tells me I have an invalid serial number. We have PE 2 still thriving on another computer, installed from the same disc (which we got with a camera way back when). We don't have the original case with the serial number, but the About screen in PE 2 lists the serial number. That is what is rejected when I try to reinstall on my computer. Ther serial number is twenty digits long, but there is space for another four. I don't understand the discrepancy.
The reason for the discrepancy between the about screen and the serial code input block is because the about screen only lists 20 or the 24 digits in the serial code. It omits the last 4 digits as a security feature.
If you registered PSE 2, you can find the full software serial key in your Adobe account information.
If you still have PSE 2 installed on one of your windows computers, you can find the four missing digits by using regedit. In the regedit dialog, Edit<Find...input the 20 digits into search field. (Note: This solution does not work for current versions of Photoshop Elements. If I recall correctly, it only works with PSE 1 and PSE 2.) Make a note of the last four digits displayed which will be your missing numbers. I think in XP, you have to use the RUN dialog to get to regedit. In Vista, you can type regedit into the search bar. For this particular exe file, you have to type in the complete name as Vista will not list it if it's partially typed as it will for other programs.
Another option if you did not register PSE 2 and still have it installed on one of your computers is to use Belarc Advisor to pull up the serial code. I've never used this but have seen several posts that indicate it works.

Go to to the image I'm working on --- selected the image, the clicked on edit. When nothing happened I double clicked the image. Still elements didn't open. Then I opened the Elements editor, went back to iphoto and tried the entire process again. the photo still didn't open on Elements 13 for editing.
I have 3 Elements 13 books as well as looked on line--all my references say the exact same thing ---- iPhoto>Preferences>advanced>edit in external program>photoshop Elements

You are probably choosing the obvious file rather than the correct file as the PSE editor. The actual editor is hidden away inside the Support Files folder. The PSE file at the top level of the PSE folder in Applications is just an alias for the welcome screen and what you're describing is exactly what happens when you choose that. You want this one:

My photo numbers and dates did not transfer from my Photoshop Elements 10 to my new Photoshop Elements 12. All photos did, but not the
data I need for them. How can I transfer them, or is this not possible with Photoshop 12>

future reference import your pics to your PC, that way you can always sync it back using itunes
