My Nokia 6500c got ran over by a car--need a new c...

On Saturday night one of my friends decided I was taking too long crossing the road and thought it would be a good idea to carry me across in his intoxicated state. Bad idea. My phone fell out of my bag and got driven over by a car.
A CAR.
Now, I know people have been having problems with their screen breaking really easily, but shockingly it didn't break. Nor did it break when I accidentally left my phone in my jacket pocket and put it in the washing machine a couple of weeks earlier.
To be fair, it isn't even that badly damaged. Despite the car. It has no scratches on the back, a few on the upper case at the front and a crack at the top near the charging point.
So off I go to Phones4u where I purchased it from and where I was told rather rudely that they couldn't fix it, and that I should "buy a new one".
As I explained, the phone itself is actually fine. It works perfectly. I just need a new case. Not to spend £££ on a new phone. I'm on contract anyway, barely six months in I don't want or have the money to buy the same phone when it works fine.
So, where can I get the case replaced/repaired/a new one [case]? In bronze preferably. I don't mind cost as long as it's cheaper to buy then a whole new phone.
I'm on Orange, could they help me at all?

expansys or ebay is best places to try
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

If it's a radioshack warranty read their paperwork or call them.
You can check with your homeowners policy.

  • My iphone got ran over by a car and doesnt work anymore what can i do to get this fixed?

MY iphone got ran over by a car and the screen is shattered and the phone wont turn on, what can i do?

Make an appointment at the genius bar. An out of warranty replacement is $199 for an iPhone 4S. The caveat being that the phone has to be more or less intact... If you take them a "bag of parts", they won't offer a discounted replacement.

  • I have a 2 year old iphone4 that got ran over by a car and although the outside screen isn't broken it is inside somehow, is it true I can take this into an apple store and get a discount when I buy a new one? Thanks

You can exchange for an out of warranty exchange iPhone 4 at a price of $149 in US
you get an as new iPhone 4 and the Apple genius bar take your "bits"
Apple are about to offer a trade in programme in the US but I believe the donor iPhone must be in full working order to qualify

Luckily it wasn't in my pocket at the time but where can I get the screen replaced?

I believe that text messages don't sync into the phone, however a contact list does. List should automatically sync right into your phone. make sure that when you set your phone up, you used the same email account. If you want to double check if your contact list even exists under your email account go onto:
    windowsphone.com
choose my phone from the pull down list and select contacts located at the bottom of the page.
There you can see all your contacts as well as link your other accounts such as google, facebook etc.
If your contacts exist, click on manage on top of the bar and choose restore deleted contacts.

If you can't power the phone up, you're not going to be able to get any data off of it.

  • Can I get a new iPod after it got ran over a car if I go to apple?

Long story short, I dropped my iPod touch 4 gen 32gb in the middle of the road and got ran over by a car. It still works but however the screen is cracked EVERYWHERE  and there is a bump on the back. I dont have any warrenty with apple, but i did get it with walmart, i didnt log it in. idk if its still good anymore because i got my ipod like 2 and a half years ago. I am going to an apple store soon, but i need to know: Can they just give me a new ipod and transfer my memory to the new one? How much does it cost? Please help need feedback asap!

As long as the iPod isn't in multiple pieces, Apple can replace the entire iPod for a flat fee; see the Repair Pricing section here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/faq/
You will need an appointment if you intend to go to an Apple Store. Whether they can transfer your content will depend on whether they can get the iPod to mount on one of their computers. If they can, you'll need to read this to get your iPod to sync with your computer without erasing everything:

my daughters nano got ran over screen is crushed but still comes on can this be fixed?

Yes.  You can have it serviced by Apple or a third party repair company.  Here are Apple's prices.

For 3rd party repair sites, do a simple Google search for "iPod Screen Repair" and you should get a number of results.

  • Hello after updating to the new iTunes i got a box saying that i needed a new version of Apple Mobile Device Support and ihat i should uninstall iTunes and Apple Mobile Device Support then install iTunes again.  I have been unable to uninstall itunes

Hello- after updating to the new iTunes i got a box saying that i needed a new version of Apple Mobile Device Support and ihat i should uninstall iTunes and Apple Mobile Device Support then install iTunes again.  Problem is I have been unable to uninstall itunes, can't find the installation files .msi.  I'm using Windows XP.
    Help!

Problem is I have been unable to uninstall itunes, can't find the installation files .msi.
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Iphone 4S got ran over

Ive had my iphone for three months now. And whilst crossing a road, it fell without me realising. I found it later but it was badly damaged (imagine around 100 cars running over it). Ive been to the Apple store and they say its too damaged to be given a replacement. But I can't afford another £600 phone! Anybody got any suggestions? I don't have insurance on it by the way.
Do you think if I go to a different Apple store and plead with all my heart they may give me replacement (I dont mind paying around £200)

As Tim and Michael said, there's almost certainly nothing more you can do. Apple gives people a discount on the replacement in part because they can take the failed iPhone and send it back for refurbishment, which they then use for replacements for other people. With so much damage to your iPhone, they cannot refurbish it which makes your iPhone valueless to Apple. That's why the policy exists on not providing a discounted replacement when an iPhone is too badly damaged.
If you can't afford the price of a new iPhone, then you'll just have to live without your iPhone until you can save up, I'm afraid. Or look for a used iPhone of an older generation (though beware; many used iPhones have been hacked to unlock them).
    Regards.

  • IPod got run over by a car

The LCD screeen is cracked, but still lights up, and the iPod still plays music. I looked at the repair prices on the site, but it doesn't seem worth it to pay $129 to repair an ipod when you can get a new one for $250. Are there reliable, affordable kits you can buy to repair iPods yourself? Also, how easy would it be to do it yourself?

Its easier than it seems if you have some time and patience and steady hands. I suggest going here:
    http://store.ifixipodsfast.com/ipod-parts-/-installation/ipod-video/ipod-video-l cd-screen-5-5-gen-/-60-brighter-/prod_8.html
They also have an online instructional video that is great!
If you do not trust yourself than you can send it in and they'll do it for you for $20 extra.

  • Nokia 6500c - New Firmware, please!

This is the message I was trying to send through the "Feedback" page in Nokia.com, but it doesn't work! Very strange. So I'm posting it here and hoping that maybe this message will reach Nokia themselves.
Hello, I own a 6500 classic. I can say I'm really happy I got it, although it was a bit expensive for me. I enjoyed it from the minute I got it, first of all, because it's really nice looking, comfortable to use and work with. It's my first high class Nokia phone - I've had 3310, 6030, 1110i and finally the 6500c. I'm a Nokia fan :-) However, I think, I could give you some personal ideas about the performance of the phone, and what could be fixed and done better, after all, there's always room for improvement and Nokia, as a leading mobile phone manufacturer, strives for perfection.
Just to make sure, I have the RM-265 type, 42.02 variant, V 03.21.
One thing for sure, that could be included in the firmware update, I think, could be management of the display: the user should be able to change the contrast and backlighting, in order to save some battery time. The other thing, why not include a "screen off" type of screen saver? I find the current system quite ineffective: if you do set (any) screensaver on and lock the keypad or don't do anything, it, of course, turns the screensaver on, but then, after some minutes turns into the little "overview" box that slides from place to place showing Time and Date, you know, and the display automatically turns itself off after just some 15-20 mins more. Now, I really find the "Analogue clock" screensaver beautiful, but then it turns into the not-so-nice little box previously mentioned. So I now use the phone with screensaver off in order to get the box from the beginning, as a screensaver. So, in all, Menu-Settings-Display-Screensaver-Screen off (timeout to set, too) would be great.
Other problems - you have to click twice to move down on contact list after searching (ie, type R and press down twice to get to the second person one the list rather than once)
    - Menus After saving a setting or discarding a setting, the phone will return to a random menu, not the related menu
    - Call / Green button - Displays call log as opposed to "Dialled calls"
    - This might not be a firmware/software issue, but the quiet places in MP3s (when played through the speaker) come out "scratchy" and not nice and pleasant to hear at all! Also, one can't listen to classical music on the speaker at all - too quiet and scratchy, as I said! That's the most disappointing bug. Maybe it's just my phone, but I've heard other people saying this is happening with their devices as well.
Thanks a lot, hope to see a firmware update for 6500c soon!
    Sincerely,
    Vytenis

does anyone have any idea hoe to download new software for the 6500c using a windows vista pc? Oh! what about the fact that after you have missed a call, received a message that the phone initially alerts you the one time;and if you don't get it;you are alerted no more.Thats not good.I guess if you don't here the phone ring the first time, then you are just **bleep** out until you have a reason to pick up the phone and then see that you missed a call or received a message.

Trying to update my Nokia 6500c but got this error message.
This happens after the Nokia Software Updater was upgraded to v1.4.98en.
I think the NSU has bugs in it.
