  • I was infected by a virus and this changed proxy config to 127.0.0.1:64727, i removed the virus, but every time i start firefox i find the proxy configuration made by the virus.is there any config file i can change ?

I was infected by a virus (i can't remember the virus name). Antivirus removed it, but i think it changed some config file on FF, 'cause every time i try to restart it , i find it configured to use proxy 127.0.0.1:64727. I change every time the config, i also tried to change the config on the about:config and set network.proxy.type 5 , no port and no network proxy (so it's all on default) . I changed the config on the gui, i removed the config from windows registry ( IE and chrome start normally, with no proxy), but every time i restart FF i find the proxy config there. How can i fix it ?

    I had the same problem.
    Solution
    '''Clear Virus First'''
-clear virus using either anti-virus or manually going into task manager and figuring out which processes are bad.
-If the manual way, go through each process in task manager and right click to "open file location". Depending on where it is located and the name of the process, you can google the process name online to see if it is bad.
-Delete the bad process file and as added security, create a folder using the name of the process so the file can't be recreated later. (example: If I had a virus "3dcr.exe" in folder c:\user, then delete "3dcr.exe" and create a new folder c:\user\3dcr.exe\ )
    '''Fix Proxy Settings'''
-If your browser points an proxy server and you can't change the settings because every restart of firefox returns the settings back (even after changing in about:config or prefs.js or options>advanced>network>settings). The answer is to uninstall firefox with all its user preferences and the reinstall it.
*I know it is a bit brute force, but it was the only method I found to work. Just be sure to save your bookmarks first.

  • Firefox was infected with a virus or spywar and now tries to pop up a certain site every time I load a new page or refresh.

A few days ago my computer was infected with a virus from my antivirus license running out without me knowing it. Ever since then every time I load a page in firefox or refresh it a pop up window to a site that my ESET antivirus blocks comes up. This will not stop and I can't figure out how to fix it. I've deleted all temporary files on my comp and tried reinstalling firefox from scratch and still won't go away. I'm running out of things to try and not sure what to do. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.<br />
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

  • My iMac was infected with a virus or malware the other night. I was told that I didn't have any firewall protection. How do I fix that? And what kind of software should I use to protect my computer from further attacks?

I am running OS X Version 10.9.5 on n iMac I brought in 2011. Had a virus or malware attack the other night and a window opened with a # to call for help. Didn't know if I should trust the # but ended up calling it anyway and paid to have them 'fix' things. Was told I didn't have firewall protection. Am not sure if I do now. [It still says to allow all incoming connections]. So what do I do now? And what kind of antivirus program is recommended?
    Firewall

    Read "Ransomware" web pages.
Assuming you let the scam outfit remotely control your Mac, the information on it can no longer be considered secure. Neither can the Mac itself. You should immediately shut it down and take actions to prevent or recover from identity theft, which is quite likely to have occurred. This means contacting the financial institutions and other companies that may permit access to your accounts using login names and passwords, canceling and replacing credit cards, and similar actions that only you can know.
Determine if you can contest the charge made to your credit card for this criminal transgression.
And what kind of antivirus program is recommended?
None. The Mac is highly secure against malware or virus intrusion, but nothing can prevent you from willfully installing dubious software or granting remote access to criminals. No "anti-virus" software in the world will protect you from that. The OS X application firewall is not intended to prevent this sort of occurrence.

  • I lost 60 songs when my computer was infected with a virus. All my music and apps were deleted. Is there a way to get all of my music back so i don't have to purchase it all again?

    Lost music! Need help.

Redownload all of it again at no cost via iCloud using the instructions in this article.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Is it possible for a CD to be infected with a virus and can it infect my computer.

My cousin burned me a Cd of her music and she told me it took her a minute to burn it because her computer was infected with a virus and she believes that was the reason why. My question is if I import this Cd in my ITunes will it give my Macbook system a virus? Or am I just worrying for nothing?

can a CD pack a virus, certainly, seen it a million times.  Will it infect you Mac? NO.  I assume she has a PC and not a Mac.   Before you drag over the MP3 music ,
    download the free program CLAMXaV
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/clamxav/id430207028?mt=12
That way you can scan the CD if anything is on the CD besides music, and also help her determine what is/isnt on her computer.
    What is scareware?
Another type of hoax is referred to as scareware. It's a bogus virus warning that pops up when visiting some websites, and looks something like this. If you take a close look, you'll see the popup refers to a Windows system, which obviously doesn't relate to Mac OS X. It can't harm your Mac at all. Just close the site, clear your browser's cache and cookies, and you'll be fine. Sometimes these scareware sites will generate a never-ending loop of popups, to the point that you must Force Quit your browser. Such scareware sites are usually intended to lure a Windows user into clicking the links to install bogus "antivirus" software, which is typically a trojan. Even if you click the links on a Mac system, it can't install anything, because Windows executable files can't run on Mac OS X.
There are NO viruses in the wild that affect Mac OS X at this time.
If this changes, this post will be updated. According to noted computer virus expert Paul Ducklin, in order for a virus to be considered in the wild, "it must be spreading as a result of normal day-to-day operations on and between the computers of unsuspecting users." This definition excludes "proof of concept" code that is used in a testing situation under strictly controlled conditions, and which poses zero threat to average computer users.
In the past, there have been a few viruses that ran on older versions of the Mac operating system (Mac OS 9 and earlier), but they do not run on any version of Mac OS X. Like every other OS, Mac OS X is not immune to malware threats, this situation could change at any time, but if a new virus is discovered, the news media, forums, blogs, etc. will be instantly buzzing with the news.
There are trojans that can affect Mac OS X
These must be downloaded and installed by the user, which usually involves entering the user's administrator password. Also, Mac OS X will give you a warning when you first launch an app you downloaded from the web. Trojans can easily be avoided by the user exercising common sense and caution when installing applications. A common source of trojans is pirated software, typically downloaded from bit torrent sites.

  • My Nokia n97 mini was stolen, and when i found it ...

I have a problem, my Nokia n97 mini was stolen, and when i found it my "lock code" was chandged. . .i used "hard reset" bud my phone dosent work at code 12345 or 0000. . .how can I ever found out witch is the code after "hard reset" ? O.o
Moderator's Note: We have changed the title into a subject-related title. This is to keep the forum organized and let other forum users easily see and respond to this post.

    Hi Klicko,
As per your post, hard reset does not work because the code was changed. If that is the case, we can suggest you to do the Key Combination Reset for your phone. You can do this by:
    1. Opening the slide of your phone
On the keyboard, press simultaneously Shift (left) + Space + Backspace and press the Power button
If the hard reset is successful, the device is reset to factory settings and boots up prompting for the country, date and time settings. However, if this will not work successfully on your phone, the best option that we can do is to bring the phone to the nearest Nokia Care Center within your place for the to be reset to its original setting by our authorized technicians.

  • TS3212 I uninstalled iTunes because I have not bben able to update it or my iphone. I was told the program was infected. I am reinsatlling and getting error code 2203. Any ideas?

I uninstalled my iTunes because it would not update and I have not been able to update my phone. I was told my program was infected and to uninstall and then reinstall it. I am now getting error code 2203 when I try to reinstall it. This is the second time trying to reinstall. The first time it was reinstalled with the same problems I orginally had. I am running Windows 7. Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

    Or....
    For Mac OS X:
Step 1. Go to your “Applications” folder
Step 2. Go to your “Utilities” folder
    Step 3. Launch “Terminal”
Step 4. Type “sudo nano /etc/hosts” (without quotes) and hit return
    Step 5. Enter your password
Step 6. Use the down arrow key to find the “gs.apple.com” entries. Once the cursor is in front, make sure you comment out the line(s) by entering “#” (no quotes) in front of the text
Step 7. Save the file by pressing CONTROL+O on the keyboard
Step 8. Exit the nano editor by pressing CONTROL+X on the keyboard
    Step 9. Restore your iDevice

  • I was online checking flights when a window popped up on my screen saying my computer has been infected by 3 viruses: Backdoor, Adware, and Malware. Does Mac automatically send this alert or is it a program designed to gain access to my system?

I was online checking for flights when a window popped up on my screen saying my computer had been infected by 3 viruses: Backdoor, Adware, and Malware.  Does Mac automatically send out this alert?  The pop up has a "cleanup button", and is asking me to register some antivirus to enable a full cleanup.  Is this really from Mac/Apple or from some entity trying to gain further entrance to my data?  Can't seem to get assistance from Apple until 6 am.  I am not computer savvy. PLEASE ADVISE!!!

Do not ignore this... it's malware, not a virus. Even if you didn't click on anything, make sure your Mac is free of malware.

  • Can iPhone be infected with a virus while accessing websites through a third party app?

Hi there all, while accessing a newly found video website via a third party app on my iPhone 5, a window suddenly appears saying "your iPhone has been infected by a virus" and then gave a link to click "to prevent further damage from happening."   I chose to ignore the message since it's always been my understanding that iPhones are relatively impervious to viruses, however, since the pop up was now preventing me from doing anything else with the app, I just closed out the application entirely then rebooted the phone (just to be safe) and it's been working fine ever since.   I suspect this pop up was a fear based ploy intended to scare me into clicking the link being provided.  Am I correct, or is it actually possible for a virus to infect an iPhone just by going to an unscrupulous website without even downloading a file?   I haven't opened or done anything with this third party app ever since.   btw, my iPhone 5 is running iOS v8.1.2 and I've never had any issues with it in the past.  If anybody can answer it would surely be appreciated, many thanks!

Several years ago, my oldest brother was stupid enough to let himself be duped into being a major participant in a personal situation having a direct impact upon me.  Prior to the rift that developed which ultimately tore our relationship apart, I suggested we meet for lunch one day as all I was wanting was for him to be honest with me.   Feeling guilty and hating all confrontation, he just had to get out of there, and so instead of answering my question he jumped up and shouted "YOU'RE ALWAYS DOING THAT TO ME!!" right in front of everyone at the restaurant.  As a tension breaker I shouted right back, "didn't YOU ever learn the word ALWAYS should NEVER be said during an argument?"   And so yes, you're right, I should have qualified my question more by saying "relatively impervious" instead.   MY BAD!!    I still want to say "THANKS" anyway for providing such a quick and accurate answer!

  • Adobe Flash 12 for windows 7 : Seems infected by a Virus or Trojan

Adobe 12 seems infected with a virus.   After installing Adobe Flash 12 my computer is controlled by some program that tries to immediately connect to the internet and play VERY IRRITATING sounds that sound like someone is changing a radio station constantly.  Sounds from the NEWS, Music and vulgar content material is streamed from the internet to my computer even though I have not connected to the internet. This virus on Adobe immediately connects to the internet if I have a connection.  When I select my speaker and mixer control I see "Unknown Device" as the source of the sounds from the internet.
I can MUTE the application in the mixer but  the malicious program continues to run.
My antimalware and antivirus software cannot eliminate this computer virus because it is part of the Adobe Flash 12 software that was installed.
The only way I can eliminate the problem is to UNINSTALL the Adobe Flash 12.
Does anyone know why Adobe Flash 12 seems to be infected with a computer virus or trojan?
I recommend everyone avoid using Adobe software as they seem to have a malicious computer virus embedded in their software.
Continual use of Adobe Flash 12 can result in others invading your computer and the loss of private information so I suggest everyone stop using Adobe Flash 12 until it is cleaned of the virus.
Do you want your computer to constantly dial up the internet without your permission and transfer data to unknown persons?

    Mike,
After I installed the software you recommended there was more to the story from my last email.
My computer was now much worse and out of control so I was forced to turn off my machine and cold restart it.
The computer would not restart at all. It tried to start windows but instead it ran in an infinite loop. I would see the Dell screen and then the Windows would pop up saying it was restarting and then it would go bland and the Dell Screen would pop up and then the Windows restart screen again and again and again.
I shut it down and tried to start it in Safe Mode. That wouldn't work either. It was stuck in a loop just like in Normal mode.
So I had to shut down and do a System Restore to a selected REstore point.
That worked and now my computer is as it was before but it still has the virus and if I try to use Adobe Flash it will again connect to internet and play irritating sounds.
So what could have fixed this problem?  Should I have quarantined the 4 offending files or just the DCOM file?
Why  did your software nearly destroy my computer's ability to restart?
    What do you suggest?

  • Is this a genuine error message 'ipad has been infected with potential virus'

II was just about to watch a film through my iPad and a new screen opened 'phone updating.com' and the message read 'Virus warning, ipad has been infected with potential virus.  Click the ok button to scan your iPhone now.'
I didn't press ok and it wouldn't let me cross out so I checked and updated to the latest version (8.2) and when my ipad restarted, safari opened it on the same error page.  I then went to settings and cleared my Safari history which thankfully clearly the page.
My concern now is what if I have something bad (virus?) on my iPad? Or im hoping that because I didn't click okay that all is okay again.
can anyone advise if they have come across anything similar or if I need to do something else?
    MAny Thanks

Thanks, that's what I thought.  Do you know if there was any other way that I could have cleared the message other than by clearing my safari history, and more importantly, as I didn't click okay, would this have stopped anything else happening to my ipad?
