My Nokia Lumia 928 sound

My phones audio/sound has completely stopped working. No ringer, no music, no sound what so ever. Does anyone know why and how to fix it?

Since when this has started?
Did you try doing a soft reset by pressing and holding volume keys and power button together for 10-15 seconds and the phone restarts. Do this if you have not done and reply.

Did you have the phone set to backup things to the One Drive on Microsoft servers?

  • Nokia Lumia (928) Problem.

I've recently been having this problem with my Nokia Lumia 928, I was doing a reset (Factory Reset) on my phone when I've been on spinning gears for a few couples last night. Waited and nothing, so I looked around and tried find other solutions.
I did the soft reset/hard reset but all I've been getting is the low battery, I plug it into the charger for a good 30 minutes + But still won't turn on and still saying it is low battery. I tried doing the resets again but basically all I'm getting are the two, spinning gears and the low battery. Also, while it's charging it randomly go'es to the spinning gears.

    Dear Juan,
Try this... taken from another forum... it really works:
    =============================================
After spending 8 hours trying to recover from spinning gears following a hard reset, of all the methods I tried, this is the one that worked:
    -Phone was showing spinning gears
    -Battery was low
    -Took Sim card out
-I logged into find my phone and erased my phone using the on-line feature:https://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/my
-Let it sit for 1 hour then turned it off
-Press and hold the Volume down & Power buttons until the phone vibrates then release the power button but keep pressing the volume down key for approximately 10 seconds until you see a low battery on the screen.
    -If you don’t get the low batt and you get the Nokia lego then press the following buttons in this order;
    --Volume UP
    --Volume DOWN
    --POWER
    --Volume DOWN.
-Your phone will now automatically reboot and try again till you get the low batt
-When the low batt shows up do nothing, it will turn off by itself
-Let sit for 1 hour and turn back on
-Press and hold the Volume down & Power buttons until the phone vibrates then release the power button but keep pressing the volume down key for approximately 10 seconds until you see a low battery on the screen.
-Plug your phone into the charger when you see the low batt
    -If you don’t get the low batt and you get the Nokia lego and go back to the spinning gears of death then press the following buttons in this order;
    --Volume UP
    --Volume DOWN
    --POWER
    --Volume DOWN.
-Plug your phone into the charger when you see the low batt but not till you see it
    -Now press the following buttons in this order;
    --Volume UP
    --Volume DOWN
    --POWER
    --Volume DOWN.
-Your phone will now automatically reboot it will show the spinning gears again but within 10 mins it will start up as a new device.

  • Nokia lumia 928 sms call back number

My wife and I both upgraded to the Nokia Lumia 928. since we have, our text messages to each other are followed by "call back at" and then it gives the phone number of the person calling.  Called verizon tech support and they said that it is a feature that is sent from the "nokia" phone with your text message and that there is currently no way to dissable it from the sending "nokia" phone. Has anyone figured out how to get this to stop?

I concur with rayhipkiss. The only way I can call back the sender of a text message I've received is to tap on the name or number of the sender when viewing the text message. This is using an unbranded UK-CV Lumia 1020 and an operator branded Lumia 920.
I'd guess that that it is indeed something that your operator has added to their custom variant of the 928.
Do you see this "call back on" after messages sent to you by someone on other networks, and to they see it on messages that you send them?

Those diagnostics have been removed from latest WP7.x updates and are not available on WP 8.x either.

There would be eight but the 830 is no longer listed. Did AT&T have it removed ? Only three of these phones have the Denim update available, that is 37.5%.  Is AT&T even trying, I don't think so.  The same models of phones all over the world have been updated. Now WP10 is coming up. Microsoft says they will update WP10 directly, no carrier in the middle and they say it will be available to all phones and only phones running Lumia Denim, OS version 8.10.14219.341 or higher can be upgraded.  So, the phone has to have at least Denim before you can update. Will Windows 10 update be available for my Lumia phone? We bought two 920's from AT&T in 2012. Wife is still using hers and I replaced mine with a 1520.3 last year. It has Qi wireless charging and 32GB memory, not the AT&T version. We no longer have a contract and never will, using 'bring your own phone'.The other 62.5% of the Lumia phone users with AT&T probably feel the same way.

  • Nokia lumia 920 sound issues

I have a problem with the sound of my Nokia Lumia 920. I bought the phone back in June, this issue have only just start. The sound works when i get a text message, email and other notifications, it doesn't work when i play music or games, even when i type on the keyboard it just doesn't make any sound. I hope someone can help me with this problem. Thank you

    hi mate,
have you got the Portico update installed (check via Settings > Phone Update). also check that you are fully up to date with all the latest Nokia system apps in the Store. failing that, you can try soft reset (pressing the volume down and power buttons together until the phone vibrates).

  • Nokia Lumia 928 MMS issues on unlocked device

I'm a Finnish guy and using Elisa as a carrier.
I got the chance to purchase unlocked Lumia 928 with a decent price so I checked its specifications (GSM Arena site) and also found out it could be used internationally.
It seemed to be a brilliant phone (and it sure is) so I purchased it.
But now I'm facing the problem with the MMS messages. All settings are just OK and I can send MMS messages successfully but I cannot receive them. The phone announces that "you've received a message which has media content" but when I try to open the media content, nothing happens.
This seems to be quite common problem (at least when I'm reading those most popular Windows Phone discussion forums) but I haven't found a solution to it. Someone has just said that because the phone is made for a particular carrier, it has "specialities" in its firmware. Well, the phone uses same MMS settings for sending and receiving MMS messages so how come MMS messages won't get thru to my phone correctly? I'd also like to know how the MMS firmware settiing are different between Lumia 925 and 928???
And most of all I'd like to get a remedy/solution to fix the problem from Nokia/Microsoft people Thanks a lot in advance!

Well, I suppose that even though Verizon has ordered these phones from Nokia, all the settings, applications and characteristics were preloaded to the phone at the factory. So in other words Verizon would've delivered preconfigured things to Nokia before the manufacturing process and would not start to fiddling around (=to install all the setting, apps and characteristics) when they received the phones from Nokia.
Therefore someone in Nokia/Microsoft must know the differencies between the stock firmware and the Verizon firmware, especially if we're now talking about these MMS issues. And I wanna know it. If I'd ask the same question from Verizon, they probably would not know the difference between those aforementioned firmware.
It's not rocket science, I guess it's just because of those preloaded/-configured differencies between the stock and the Verizon firmwares...

  • Upgrade from iPhone 4 to Nokia Lumia 928; texts from iPhone contacts no longer coming through

I just upgraded from an iPhone 4 to a Nokia Lumina 928 last week.  I was forced to make the upgrade because my iPhone's charging port broke (due to normal wear and tear), and could no longer be charged.  I was unable to acquire a replacement prior to the phone dying completely, and as such, I was unsuccessful in resetting the iPhone.
I am unable to receive texts from any iPhone users, period.  We have tried deleting my number as a contact, resetting the SMS and iMessage settings, deleting my number and unregistering my device from iCloud and Apple, and I am still not receiving messages.  These are standard messages, without pictures.
    What is the solution?

    Your phone isn't the problem.
Your contacts may be using iMessage, which can only be used with other Apple devices.
Turning iMessage off resolves the problem.

  • Nokia Lumia 928 Texting Problem

Just upgraded to the Lumia 928 (white) yesterday. A few hours after getting home with the device I realized I was not receiving text messages. I began to troubleshoot to the best of my knowledge. I can send/receive calls, send/receive picture messages, and send texts. The only thing I can't do is receive texts. I have had two friends both attempt to send me texts multiple times with no luck. I plan to go back to verizon today for their assistance, but was maybe hoping someone else in the forums was having the same issues. Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi there Lloyd,
I had the same problem with my new 928. Doing a complete shutdown and restart fixed the issue for me. I held the middle button on the phone until the shut-down dialog opened, used that to power down and restarted about a minute later. I've had no issues with text since doing that.
Hope this helps you (and that you are having as much fun as I am with the totally awesome phone).
    Regards,
    Andy.

  • Nokia lumia 928

I have a lumia 928 and about 4 months ago it started saying i have headphones plugged in all the time. The audio doesnt work unless its on speaker phone. PLEASE HELP!!

Oh my! That's a long time to go without the phone working properly, Jeanie_Russ. Many times this is caused by something in the jack. It may not be ab actual set of headphones plugged in, but something as small as some pocket lint or debris, or even corrosion if it's come into contact with moisture. Check in the jack to make sure there's nothing in there that could be confusing the phone. You can also try plugging a headset into the jack and then unplugging it to see if the phone recognizes the removal.  Let us know if those steps help.

  • Nokia Lumia 928 phone lockup after Amer Alert

Tonight I had my brand new Lumia 928 (I had just activated this phone 24 hours earlier) sitting on my desk, on but not plugged into anything when all of a sudden I heard three loud tones and I looked at the screen and noted that I received an Amer Alert and a vehicle description.  Before I could even pick up the phone to look closer, the phone dialed on its own (I still had not touched the phone) the party I had last called about thirty minutes earlier.  I apologized to this friend for the accidental call and upon hanging up the phone, the phone locked up with the Amber Alert still on the screen.  I then experienced similar lock-ups to others where the phone would not power down and all functions on the screen were inoperable.  Not being a registered member of Verizon, I was unable to access the temporary password sent to my phone, so I was forced to drive to the local Verizon company store and learned how to reboot the Lumia 928.  Numerous workers there were not complementary to this phone or any other Windows Phone.  It appears Microsoft can add an additional bug to the many they already have with this phone...  Amber Alerts will freeze the phone in a powered condition.

I've had my Lumia 928 lock up on me; the key to "unlocking" it seems to be holding down the power button and volume down button simultaneously until the phone restarts, typically 10-15 seconds.

This statement puzzles me - If you have a Verizon phone number and Verizon service... you also have a MyVerizon account.  Temporary password? For what?

  • My Thoughts on Nokia Lumia 928

So, I have had this phone for about 3 weeks.I just spent the last hour trying to find a solution to a problem I was experiencing, and stumbled on the answer in this forum. Thought I would restate my problem and solution, and also review this phone.
    My Problem:
My battery life indicator was showing about 10%, and had been for several days. I have been charging - as instructed over and over again - using the in-box charger through a wall outlet. Went to bed last night with it plugged in, had 10% battery life this morning. Spent the last hour browsing the troubleshooting section on Verizon support site (Anyone else think this site is useless? Guess that is another review.). Anyway, came to this forum and someone suggested a soft reboot - press and hold both the power and volume buttons for a few seconds to restart the phone. It worked. As soon as the phone started my battery life indicator showed 100%. I have unplugged it, as I have been told to do over and over on every Nokia and Verizon site I visited this morning. (sense a theme). Neither of them mentioned a soft reboot however. Sigh.
    My Review:
My last phone was an android, and I must say there are some apps I really miss - for example, Garmin has a myCast weather service app for droids that was the best I have ever used; Windows 8 phone - not very good, but available. BUT, on the droids I could never uninstall the junk (and it was junk to me) that came pre-installed on the phone - irritated the heck out of me.
    What I like:
And that is what I find most valuable on the new Nokia 928. YES - the first thing I did on my phone was remove all the useless crap ware. Don't use it, uninstall! If you want to know that you control the "free" phone you just paid two days worth of your paycheck to buy, and sold yourself into two years of bondage to keep, you might take another look at the Nokia, or maybe it is just Windows 8 - I don't know which, but I like controlling the apps that are installed on my phone, and with this one I can. I haven't played with the camera much yet, but there are some really cool features. My favorite is the panorama feature. It "helps" you position the camera for each of picture taken (about 4 in a panoramic shot), and then stitches them up quick! Cool; just saying. Other features: lens apps. Oh I can't wait to play with them.
Other things I like about the phone: easy to pick up and start using if you are a newbie. Use the Verizon "get to know your phone" and you are golden. I fussed with the main screen where all the apps are pinned for a couple of days, and now I know right where to go to find what I need. It connects easily to Sky Drive, and is easy to setup so that all pictures are backed up automatically! Oh, and if you have a corporate Exchange Email - works like a dream. Easy to setup and the email app is feature rich. Windows knows how to do some things right.
    What I don't like:
If you are looking for a phone rich with apps, pass this phone by. You will not be happy. Are you a Facebook addict? Pass this phone by. You will hate the app. Do you use Amazon Cloud Player? You can eventually MOVE your music from cloud to Windows Media Player to your phone (yes it is that big of a pain). And you have to plug your phone into your computer to do it - at least to retrieve the Amazon music I had already paid for. Dinged Amazon on this one - they were Johnny on the spot providing me with a Windows 8 compatible app for an Amazon shopping cart, but not one so I could stream my music from their player to my phone. Droid has one, iPhone has one, but not Windows 8.
    In Summary:
Great phone; battery life is no better or worse than any other; apps provided by Nokia are pretty nice, but if you don't like them you don't have to keep them - which is what I want everyone to take from this review. With Nokia I feel like I finally "own" the phone. I have invested some time with issues due to the OS used, but overall this phone works as well or better than my last three Droids, so I am happy.

Nice review and summary - compared to the Android OS and app selection, Android wins in my book.  Still, the Windows OS and apps do have some nice features, and the phone itself is very usable.  The camera is awesome; battery life, as you said, is no better or worse than other phones.
Glad you like your Nokia 928!

  • Nokia Lumia 928 unresponsive even after several re...

I had just watched a video online, and suddenly at the end of the video, the phone's screen started displaying weird pixels and lines throughout and the phone is now completely unresponsive, except for the power and volume buttons.  I've tried the hard reboot several times, but the phone just reboots with the abnormal-looking screen.  It will not allow me to get past the lock screen.  It will do nothing except allow me to power it of and turn the volume up and down.
I've had this phone for less than a month... bought it after reading the glowing reviews about it.  I loved the phone up until this point.  I should have just kept my "dumbphone" because this **bleep** is really p*ssing me off.  I don't want this piece of junk anymore, but of course it's too late to return it and exchange it for another brand.

Yes it can be very annoying to buy something new and have it fail so soon.  I recently bought a new Dyson cordless vacuume and it itermittantly failed shutting on-and-off.  Dyson replaced it and the problem is now gone and has not returned   So, with complex electronics I think you sometimes can end up with a lemon now and then.
FWIW, my wife and I ditched our feature phones and purchased two 928's and both of them have been flawless for the two months we have used them.  I really like the Nokia hardware and am keeping my fingers crossed that it continues to perform well through the duration of our contract.  If not, we have a warranty to fall back on.
I wish you success with your replacement and hope your gremlins never return!
