My nokia memory card password has forgotten

I forgot my memory card password, but i dont want to throw it i want to recover it,how i can i do?plz help me

Hi,
I have a similar problem, I bought a 4GB memory card to use with C3-01 Nokia phone. I never created a password, recently the phone had a new software installed.  Now when the card is inserted in the phone, its asking for a password - which I don't have. I can't format, delete or change anything on the card without the password. The card does not contain anything yet.
I was told to use a 'Micro SD adaptor' with the memory card in the pc - then I might be able to reformat the card etc. But I don't see the memory card in my computer - by using the micro sd adaptor or by using the phone. Please someone help!

Nokia 6700 Requesting Memory card password?
I have a Nokia 6700 Classic, the bluetooth stopped working so I called Orange who checked I was following the instructions clearly and then suggested I download the latest software version 13.20  via the computer. I did this with no problem only to find that the bluetooth still did not work and now | was being asked for a password to access my memory card.  I have NEVER entered a password on my memory card.  Having taken advice from the website I had removed all my precious photos etc to the memory card so they would be safe - now I am asked for a password that I have never set. The software is obviously corrupt in my opinion and no one can help me with a password. Have tried all possible 4 number combinations 12345 and the guy at carphone warehouse thought it was an 8 digit/character passsword. I know I could format the card but the data would be lost. Can not make it work in the computer or in other phones. Can not remove the password as you have to enter it to remove it! Orange can not help although they have been super and likewise the Carphone Warehouse and Nokia seem to just send out standard responses that prove they do not read the correspondence, although Nokia are responsible for the faulty software that has done this. The photos include some of a friend I recently lost and of someone who has little time left, I can not replace those photos. Any help would be appreciated. Surely someone at Nokia - ie the software programmers should be able to say what they have done and get me the info. This fault has been evident on lots of forums for the last 4 years - it is about time it was taken seriously - both the problems with the bletooth and the memory password.  Any help appreciated.  Thank you

My wife has forgotten the password for the microsd 2gb memory card which she had in her Nokia 6700 phone. she did a factory reset of her phone and now cannot acces her memory card. I've tried it in other devices and it is not recognised.. even in a PC. how can we access the card again. not bothered about data that was on it just wanna wipe it and reuse it. Try formatting or anything with her phone and it just keeps asking for the correct password which we don't know..
It will only allow me to format it. If I give the right password 1st.
    WHICH WE DON'T KNOW!!!!
    HELP PLS!!!!!

  • How do i activate Memory card password?

Hi. I have a nokia 5800 and have set a memory card password, but it never asks me to enter it when i access files! How do i set my phone to ask for a password to access my sensitive files?
I am using firmware v 21.0.025 which i installed wirelessly from the updates section of my handset.
Also, is the lock code onlyusable after the phone is idle for a preset period or can i use it to lock certain ares of the phone? the guides are VERY vague...
    Thanks in advance!

The memory card password is not there to protect your data within the phone, it will only be requested if it is detected that the card has been inserted to a different device (or if your phone is reformated or reflashed).
The phone autolock is only after a preset period, you can't normally activate it manually. There may be third-party applications that could offer the extra security features that you are looking for, but they are not built into the phone because the typical user doesn't require such a level of protection.

  • N80 memory card password

i had a Nokia N80IE with a MiniSD memory card. i sold the phone, and i have the memory card here connected to my laptop, but i cant use it because the card was password protected. now i dont have a phone to unlock it. i know the password, but how can i unlock it into my pc? any programs or so? i have a 6210navigator now but it only supports MicroSD, doesnt support MiniSD.

yes i've tried that and it does solve the problem.
my setting the memory card password is not to secure my files though... it's to prevent someone else accidentally or otherwise setting a password on my memory card w/o me knowing it. the memory card password once set has no easy way to be removed unless u know it, and will render the card unusable on any other device.
so is this a bug? or just something worng w/ my phone? anyone else can try pls?Message Edited by myles on 23-Jun-2006

  • Save memory card password using backup of PC Suite...

Ok. Some time ago I set a password on the memory card of my Nokia XpressMusic 5310. Some months passed and I forgot the password
to it but the phone still has it so it's working without any issues.
Problem is I want to update the firmware on the phone because it is a bit outdated and PC Suite is showing me that new versions are available. If I update the firmware, the phone will LOSE the password to the memory card as it is deleted during the flash. I did a complete backup using PC Suite to my computer. Is the memory card password ALSO backed up to the computer or will I still need it after the flash?
In other words, after I update the phone, can I use the backup I made to restore it and restore the password it had for the memory card. Or is there any way for me to find this password and remove it before updating?
The phone is a S40 phone so the installing of filemanager programs and looking for the text file with the password does NOT work.
    Thx.

  • X2-01 Memory Card PASSWORD

I have been using a Nokia X2-01 for 3 months and yesterday I've reset the phone to factory settings with the memory card removed. After the reset I've inserted the memory card but it shows a lock sign and requires password to access or format. It doesn't even show how much memory is used or free. TOTAL ACCESS DENIED. All it wants a password. But I've never given any password to the memory card and it never asked for before. The memory card came along with the phone and the packet holding the memory card was completely sealed, too. I've bought the phone from a genuine Nokia Store.
Now how could I retrieve/remove/reset the memory card password?

    Hi,
    We have  FAQ for this:
What can I do when I forget the password of my memory card ?
This is unfortunate situation. But if you keep using it in the device where the password was set, the password is not required to access to the memory card. However, it is required in the following situations:
Try to remove the memory card password
Insert the memory card to another device
After a hard reset of the device (for example by typing *#7370# in your device)
After the device software update with PC using Nokia Software Updater
When you forget the password but still want to use the memory card, try formatting it in your device. But after formatting, all data on the memory card is erased. Sometimes the password may be asked before formatting, then try to format it in PC.
Important notice! Write down your password and keep it in a safe place and backup your memory card data regularly.

  • Nokia 5310 default memory card password?

So i had an issue with the phone freezing and restarting a lot especially when listening to music via headset. Another issue with it was that i couldn't delete text messages, everytime i tried to do a bulk delete (2000+ messages) my phone would simply hang.
So i called my provider (TMobile -USA) for support on these issues. Regarding the first one they did not know what to do, and to solve the second issues they had me do a Factory Reset (all), which cleared out my phone and for some reason also cleared out my sd card! Now i have another problem. I have a backup restore file saved on my card and i am trying to reset the setting on my phone, but when i try to open the sd card it prompts for a password. I never set a password on this phone or the memory card, ive only had this phone for about 3 weeks. Service provider appologized since they couldn't help and advised me to call Nokia...
So here i am with a bare new phone, and i lost all my information on my SD card and to make it worse NOW i cant even access it anymore! Under options on my phone i tried deleteing the password, changing it or reformating the card, but before any of those could be done it prompts me for that password and im stuck...
Somebody help... perhaps i should just take the phone back?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The problem I had with my sd card was I was sure I remembered the correct password but no matter how many times I entered it I was told it was incorrect. I then noticed that the character was changing before it would go to an asterix. Ie like texting it would go through the key options with each push. eg key number "2" would cycle through a,b,c before getting to 2.
So try re entering your password watching the characters with each button push then stopping on the numeral before letting it turn into an asterx.
It worked for me hope it does for you  :-)

Although you haven't knowingly set a password AFAIK it is possible to change it to new one using the remote lock feature.

For some reason even when you did not add a password to your memory card, sometimes your phone after a factory reset, may ask you for a password for your memory card. There is a way around this. Go to SETTINGS à SECURITY à REMOTE LOCK and add a new codeword for locking your phone eg “lockthis” and put in your lock CODE (default is 12345). When this is done, use your lock codeword “lockthis” as the password for the memory card and you should be able to get into your memory card again. ATTENTION!!!!!! The codeword must have maximum 7 characters!!!! IT REALLY WORKS!!!!! 100%

  • 6131 Nokia Memory card problem

    Hello
I've had a 6131 Nokia for over a year, in which time, the SanDisk 512mb MMC memory card has worked in it fine. For the last few days, my phone has intermittently not recognised the card, to the point where it's not acknowledging it at in the phone.
There doesn't seem to be a problem with the card - I've used it on my laptop through the card reader without a problem.
Could this be a problem with the phone, which I may have dropped about a fortnight ago?

As far as i know, not doable.Sorry

  • Old Nokia 6300 to new 6300 Nokia "memory card"

Please can someone advise me on how to enable the old memory card into the new 6300 phone. Same phone but memory card wont work, tried formatting via pc and no luck. Thanks

    Hi
This means, that your new phone doesn't see mem card inserted into slot?
Maybe slot is out of order or memory card is bust. But if computer see it, card should be good. I don't supose you put it from the wrong side.
Check with any other memory card.

  • Remote lock & Memory card corrupted issue

Remote lock & Memory card corrupted issue
    Hi Dear Friends,
You might have experienced the "Memory card corrupted issue."
Don't panic! The solution is here!
Your memory card is just 'locked', it isn't 'corrupted'!
For sure, this post would be of great help to you, if:
    • You have enabled the "Remote lock" feature of your Nokia device.
    • You have sent the remote lock message to your device and locked it remotely.
Finding the solution really took me a lot of time. I was inspired by various posts on the Discussion, and decided to find the official notes on the issue. So would like to thank those who shared their tips, and helped us solve this problem.
I'm using E66, (you might use something else), and would refer to E51's and E65's User guide so often.
Of course, I'm not going to explain the instructions, and recommend you to refer to your user guides when needed.
On the contrary, I'm going to explain what may not be mentioned in your user guides.
    Let’s Begin
    What Has Happened:
In short, you attempted to test the feature, your phone was locked, you keyed in the lock code, code was accepted, you used the phone for a while, switched it off, powered it on, you were prompted the Lock code, you keyed in the lock code, code was accepted, you attempted to view some stuff that was on your memory card, you didn't find it, you tried to run a program that was installed on your memory card, the program icon didn't open, you put the memory card in the card reader and connected it to PC, it was not detected, you went to Menu> Tools> Memory card> You saw "Memory card corrupted"!
Don't, don't select the Yes selection key if you got the caution message, "Memory Card corrupted, reformat it?" because your memory card isn't corrupted, it's simply being locked!
But you can't find the unlock memory card command in Menu> Tools> Memory card> Options.
    So? What to DO?
    1. (This step is optional) Disable the Remote lock feature.
(Refer to your user guides) and change Allow Remote Lock> to no.
Then, while the unit is on,
    2. Press the power key briefly, and select Remove memory card.
    3. Remove the memory card from the slot.
    4. Press OK if prompted.
    5. Reinsert the memory card in the slot.
    6. Reopen Menu> Tools> Memory card.
Is your memory card detected? If yes!
    7. Follow tips number 2 & 3 of What to Know section below.
Did you get "Password removed" message?
If no, be careful of the case of the first character.
If you had changed the Remote lock message many times, use the one that was practically sent to the device via text message.
. In case you had set a password on your memory card before, you may also attempt to unlock the locked memory using your own password, not the first eight characters of the remote lock message.
Step seven would make the memory card detectable to the connected card reader to the PC too.
    8. The memory card is detected temporarily, but it is locked and the "memory card corrupted" issue reappears every time you switch off/on the phone, unless you successfully complete step seven.
    What to Know?
    Official User guide Tips:
    1. Remote locking also locks your memory card. (E51 page100)
. Yes, the one mobile phone that sends your device the predefined remote locking message, receives the confirmation message in response, indicating, "Mobile telephone and memory card are locked". But it isn't written in E66's and E65's.
    2. To unlock the memory card, select Menu> Tools> Memory> Options> Remove password, and "enter the remote locking message as the password". (E51 page100)
. Yes, quite clear, but the quoted part ("enter the remote locking message as the password") isn't written on my E66's User guide, and there's a vague precaution on E65's, (refer to number 4).
    3. If the message is longer than 8 characters, the first 8 characters are used as the memory card password. (E51 page100)
. Yes, quite clear good E51, but I don't own you; I have E66 your little sister. I owe my memory card's survival to nice users on the Discussion.
    4. The maximum number of characters allowed is 8. Using more than 8 characters could prevent unlocking the memory card and require reformatting it. If reformatting the memory card is required, all information on the card will be lost. (E65 page28)
. Quite interesting, but it contradicts what good E51 says in number three¡!
. And it contradicts my own experience of the issue (and some other users' on the Discussion) too, since my E66's memory card accepted the 'first eight characters' of the 'ten-character long’ remote lock message that I had previously used to remote lock it.
. The first three tips are quite important and shouldn't have been excluded from E66's and E65's user guides. I don't have the time to download and review all the user guides that support this feature, but at least I read some user manuals and also got the impression (from the posts on the discussion) that there had been not enough information on E66's, E65's, E71's, N96's, and some others.
You may like to do a simple search on Google:
"The first 8 characters are used as the memory card password" site:nokia.com
Since the content of the user guides on the server seem not be searchable for any reason, you won't find any official support result except those of the good users on the Discussions. And the 'Nokia Site Search" brings no result too. (At least on the date of this post).
¡ Terribly sorry for those who have selected Yes to the Reformat caution message. It wasn't your fault. But there's an idiom that says, sleep on it! "Think about it for a while before coming up with a decision".
But now that you have tested the feature and know its solution, don't be afraid, and enable the Remote lock feature again! God forbid, but it may be needed one day!

Dear, I guess, / This article doesn't suit your case. / • You have not enabled the "Remote lock" feature of your Nokia device. / • You have not locked your device remotely. / Because you don't know where the remote lock is and haven't played with its settings. / You need to explain what has happened. / The only thing we get is that your memory card doesn't open. / 1. your phone model, e.g., 5130. / 2. What did you do recently that might have caused this issue? / 3. What methods did you try to unlock it? / Use some of the tips provided above. (except number 1). / Yours

  • E90 Memory card problem!

Ok so i just updated my phone and it tells me to put memory cards password. Is there some kinda "normal" password that i could use to unlock it? I cant remember my old password ( I dont remember putting it...) and i cant get access to my phone !!!!!

I see there are a lot of users who have had resoults by trying different codes. Some seems to have solved it by entering 12345 or 1, or just 0, or the pin code...
Do you have some sort of code you've used for different things? It should not really ask for a code if you have't set one. Date of birth etc?
You could try reading these links to. I've no guaranty that it will work, but users claims that it has: /t5/Eseries-and-Communicators/Nokia-E71-amp-memory-card-password-after-fw-upgrade/m-p/555069#M50780

  • N97 Mini Memory Card Problem

I've been having a problem with my N97 Mini since installing a SanDisk 16Gb Memory Card.
When switching on the phone it quite often reboots. It will then work fine.
I also get 'memory full' or 'security module' errors. I can fix the issue by rebooting or ejecting the memory card in the file manager (even though I don't need to physically remove the memory card).
If I remove the memory card it works fine and I can't reproduce the errors.
I tried reformatting the card but it hasn't helped; even though it's blank.
Could it be a problem with the phone hardware, the memory card or the firmware (I'm running v11 on vf uk)?

So I've now switched to a Nokia memory card.
It came in official Nokia packaging, however there's no markings on the memory card or included adaptor that it's made by (or for) Nokia. Having looked online I can see there are other examples of this.
I did wonder if it was genuine!
However it works much much better with my phone.
The Security Module Error has completely gone, it very occasionally does the random reboot on startup, and gives a 'memory full' error, but I think this may be due to an issue with Ovi Maps and the amount of music I have on there.
I will try (another) full reset just to make sure but otherwise the phone's now working well.

  • External memory card not working on 6500

i have a nokia 6500 slide and i have 2 different external memory cards (one has all my ringtones, images, etc on it) and the other one has nothing on it. I have put both of these into the phone, but it is not picking any up. Even when i go to see how much memory has been used, it doesnt come up saying the memory card at all. And when i go to take a photo and to change the settings to save it, it also says nothing about a memory card.
I want the memory card and my sim card to work for when i send sms's because my phone fills up so quickly. and i hate having to delete messages after the inbox gets about 4 messages in it.

    hi there candi86,
if both your memory cards are not being recognised by the phone, then this may seem like there is a problem with the phone itself. in which case, check that the memory cards are readable on your computer (using an adapter or memory card reader if you have one), and also if you have the latest firmware update for your phone (check via Nokia Software Updater, which is part of Nokia PC Suite). also, what brand is your memory cards? are they both the same brand? there have been known to be problems with cheaper/worse-reputation brands of memory cards, even kingston has been cited as having problems. but this may not be the problem here.
another consideration is that the back cover of your phone is not placed properly. the 6500 slide (much like the 5610 i have) has contacts on the back cover, which when the cover is properly on, allow the phone to recognise the memory card and refresh the music library. if these contacts are damaged, then the phone may not recognise the memory card. check if your cover is a bit loose as this may be the problem.
    i hope this helps
