My Norton security had me remove something when I allowed the Firefox update and it kept crashing after that.
I cannot remember what Norton said to remove, but it said I was the first person to use it and it was recommended I remove it. I didn't want to take the risk, so then Firefox had crashed everytime I opened it, regardless of where I went: Yahoo, Facebook, Google. I deleted Firefox from my system entirely, and now wish to find the older version I was using with no problems.
There has recently been a false positive with Norton that resulted one of the Firefox files being deleted if you follow the warning, and that would cause Firefox to crash. Just re-install the current version of Firefox. Norton has on a few occasions reported Firefox application files to be suspicious when they are not.

When I did the latest update, my phone was wiped out completely. My laptop that I had everything on, crashed. Why would you not be able to use your existing Apple ID and iTunes account on a new laptop? If you authorized the computer - you should be able to use your existing account - unless you already had 5 computers authorized with the existing ID - and that was why iTunes would not accept the ID. However, I'm sure that you would have received a popup message from iTunes telling you that you had reached the limit.
I just received a new MBP and my daughter did as well. My entire family shares an Apple ID and we had no issues at all with my Apple ID and iTunes on our new computers and I did not have to sign up for a new account. Did you even try the old ID? -

I've been using it on all of my computer without any problems. Remember you won't see any positive comments here. Everyone here is complaining about a problem. If you want a good experience with any upgrade or update first make a backup from which you can boot the computer. If you are installing an update, like 10.10.3 for example, always download and install the Combo Updater - OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update. Before you install any update or upgrade over an existing system you should do this:Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu. -
I just downloaded an update and my sophos anti-virus is going beserk. It will not allow me to remove the threat manually when I unlock the quarantine manager and I have no idea of what to do.
The malware it's finding is probably Windows malware attached to e-mail messages. What are the names of some of those things? Assuming they're not Mac malware, allowing Sophos (or any other anti-virus software) to remove them could cause problems. For example, if they're attached to e-mail, removing them improperly by simply deleting the message file will leave the malware on the e-mail server, and it may very well end up getting re-downloaded when your mail client syncs with the server. It may also corrupt the mailbox.
If you actually ever see a malware name starting with MacOS or OSX (I forget which one Sophos uses), then you will need to worry, and should not assume that the malware can be completely removed by anti-virus software of any kind. -

Took apart Macbook pro 13 to remove broken headphone tip in the jack. Had to remove battery to get to the headphone jack. Now the laptop won't start. The power button is just not responding. Battery indicator showed charge of 3 dots initially but now only the last dot is blinking. The power cable used to light up green initially but now the green light is gone. I have tried SMC reset, which didn't work. What are my options?

I had Copernic Desktop Search installed with an add in to Firefox. On removing CDTS it has left the add-in and the remove button is inactive ie greyed out and I can not delkete it or see the folder in the extensions. Help appreciated to get rid of it.
uninstalled firefox ....deleted all files still remaining under mozilla firefox directory in program files ... to avoid having to reprogram all my settings, reisntall all addons as well .. I did not remove anything from mozilla firefox that is stored in either appdata or under the windows users directory (if any)
