My notebook compaq presario cq43 becomes hot n shuts down automatically

HI;
The easiest thing to do is to spray canned air into the vents by the fan and heat sink. If a lot of dust comes out, that will probably take care of the issue. If no dust comes out, then you have other issues causing overheating and thermal shutdown. Take care not to overspin the fan blades when you blow the air into it.

  • TS1702 Hot player shuts down automatically.

I have been using Hot Player to watch videos on my ipad.Since last 1 week, when I scroll over the list of items in the hot player,it automatically shuts off.
I tried uninstalling and re-installing the application. However, the problem persists.
When connected to my computer I can see that there are 30 items. But when I scroll in the ipad (hot player) it shuts off after 15th item.
    Please advise.

I'm sorry for the delay in responding to your answers. From them I am willing to bet you still have the same problem. I have experienced the exact same problem on other HP's and found the problem to be thermal run-a-away of the CPU. This is caused by the thermal compound deterioration between the CPU and Heat sink that the fan cools. The lack of hot air and the speed of shutdown indicates that the CPU is operating near thermal limits most of the time. Since the CPU and Video Chip share the same heat sink I believe you will tie the behavior to increased video display (Larger images etc) and CPU activity. The solution is simple in concept but can be difficult in execution. It involves removing layers to gain access to the CPU and Video chips, Removing the heatsink, cleaning off the old compound (which will be dry and hard) from both chips and heat sink, adding thin layer of grease style heatsink compound, and reassembling. Another thing you can try is to buy a fan heat pad for under you laptop that plug into your USB port. Radio shack was selling them for $14. If the problem disappears or greatly improves you have proven the thermal issue and can decide what to do about it. Perhaps the pad will be just fine for you. Let me know outcome.

  • My Satellite A660-11M is getting hot, and shut down

    Hello !
    (sorry for my english)
I have problem with my computer.
When I'm playing computer games or when I save movie created in Sony Vegas or Windows Movie Maker, my Toshiba is getting hot, and shut down.
    I don't know the reason.
I saw that, wnen CPU is 50% of use (saving movie in Movie Maker) the computer will shut down about 5 min from start to save.
I bought this computer in UK in august. I did't format it for 7 months.
    What can I do ?
Maybe open and clean the fan ?
Will I lost my warranty, when I only open it and clen ?

    Barrie :
I usually use my computer on knees, but wneh I put in on desk the effect it that same...
    cooling vents free, not blocked.
    C3PO:
I use original drivers from nvidia.com I download the latest and install.
When I used my computer 5 months ago, I did't get this problem.

  • A305-S6845 Running Way Too Hot and Shutting Down

Greetings!  Has anyone else had a problem with a Toshiba Satellite running so hot that it shuts down all by itself at least once per day?  That is what mine is doing.  The fan seems to be running fine and there is no dust or anything like that in the way.
How can I cool this thing down?  Around 60 minutes after startup, it is so hot that it is uncomfortable on my palms to use it.  It will normally run super hot like that for several hours and then shut down automatically, presumably to keep itself from melting or something.
    Thanks in advance!

Could be hair and lint in the processor heatsink or perhaps the thermal compound between the heatsink and processor has dried out.
Have it serviced by a competent shop.  If you are feeling brave, DIY following the instructions here:

Then it got really hot while charging and shut down and will not  power back up. I have photos on this phone that we're not backed up to I cloud is there any way to retrieve my photos from this phone?

No. You probably should have backed it up while it was working during those 6 days...

  • HP PAVILION NOTEBOOK N5190 FAILS TO BOOT-UP AND SHUTS DOWN AFTER POWER SWITCH TURNED ON...

When I press the on switch slider, the notebook shows lights then CPU fan begins to spin.  It immediately slows down then stops.  Power light stays on, but nothing else happens.  No startup screen, nothing.  To do it again, power cable must be disconnected then reconnected.  Does anybody has any idea? Please help.

Once you get it to turn on, I would check to see if there is a BIOS update available for your machine.

  • Presario cq43

My Presario CQ43 Laptop fan not working. How to solve this problem ? This System is 2 yrs old.
    Durga Prasad

Hi bunny96, and welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that your fan has quit working on your Compaq Presario CQ43 Notebook PC. I will try my best to help you resolve this issue.
I suggest following the steps in this document for Fan is Noisy and Spins Constantly, PC is Warmer than Normal to see if this will get the fan working.
If this does not resolve, then issue then I suggest Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 7, Vista) to see if there is any other issue that may cause this.
I hope this information helps, please let me know how it goes.
Thank you and have a great day!

  • Compaq Presario CQ56-110US will not load up.

So.. the moment I press the power button, my Compaq Presario CQ56-110US notebook, will not load up. It only show the Compaq logo screen flashes black them shut down and restarts the process. It never makes it to the Windows login page.

    Hey @rajpodn ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're looking for info on swapping out the CPU in your notebook.
You will find everything you need here: Compaq Presario CQ56 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide. The instructions you need start on page 75. Keep in mind that the CPU itself may not be the issue, it could be the socket on the motherboard preventing the notebook from reading the CPU, so even replacing the CPU may not work, as you may need a replacement motherboard. I do not suggest replacing the motherboard as doing so requires HP Proprietary software to reinstall the Service-ID necessary for reinstalling Windows.
*Caution - If you do install the new CPU be careful with the thermal paste. A small pea sized amount should be more than enough. Put the paste in the exact center and carefully spread so there is a fine layer almost to the edge of the CPU. Remember that the heatsink will press very firmly onto the CPU and spread the paste more and you don't want any squishing out as this can cause electrical shorts if the paste has a high metal content.
The part you will want is: AMD V140 processor (2.3 GHz, 512-MB, L2 cache, 1066 MHz, 3.2 GT/s)—singlecore 25 W. The part number for this is: 616333-001.
You can order the CPU directly from HP here: HP Part Surfer, but you may be able to find it cheaper on sites like eBay, Amazon, or Newegg.
Hopefully this covers everything you're after!

  • Tecra S3: Notebook shuts down due to overheating

Whenenver I run CPU-intensive processes on my laptop, the computer's base and the table become untouchably hot and the laptop shuts down without any warning after a certain time.
    What can I do?

    Hi Kersten
May I ask you how long do you use this notebook??? Did this issue appear in the past???
Mostly such overheating problems happen and are present because the cooling modules dont work properly the dust and debris inside the notebook prevents the fans from rotation with full performance this rises the temperature to the critical level and the notebook shuts down automatically to prevent the hardware from damage.
So in such case its advisable to check the cooling modules and to clean it. The vacuuming could help but be careful such procedure could damage the fans!!!
So maybe you will ask a technician or a Toshiba service partner for a help and for a professional cleaning
    good luck
