How is Acrobat 8 not fully Windows 7 compatible? I see discussions on this Adobe Community saying how Acrobat 8 does work on Windows 7 and with 64-bit. It appears that if Acrobat 8 is updated to the latest version, then this should fix AA8-Win7 issues. And I am at the latest AA8 version, 8.3.1.
And how are Acrobat 8 and Reader XI are not compatible? I have always had Acrobat and Reader installed on the same PC, without ever having any issues. And Adobe allows the installation of one after the other. So apparently Adobe allows them both to exist together. If they are incompatible, then why would Adobe allow them to exist together?
Anyway, I did uninstall the FileOpen Plug-in and the Reader XI, then reinstalled the FileOpen Plug-in. So now Reader is not installed and only Acrobat 8 is installed. I then tried to load the PDF file, but I still get the Acrobat 8 error described above.

Notification center "grayed out" and will not open. Any ideas on how to fix?
I purchased Mountain Lion this morning and updated from Lion. Everything worked smoothly. As I was looking through various new features, I see that Notification Center is "grayed out" and won't let me open it.
When I go to System Settings, Notifications is there, and will let me go in and make changes. There's no indications that it shouldn't work.
Mid-2007 iMac, 4GB RAM, 2.8ghz Extreme.
Any ideas?
Thanks!Little late to the party on this, but I was having the same issue. My notification center icon was greyed out and nothing happened when I clicked on it.
Here is the fix that worked for me.
Found the following folder:
~/Library/Application Support/NotificationCenter
Inside it were two files. Presumably there should only be one.
The first was
XXXXXX.db
Where "X" was a series of numbers.
The second was
XXXXXX.corrupt
I deleted the file with the corrupt extension and emptied the trash. Then went to activity monitor and force quite the Notification Center process. This caused it to restart and everything was back to normal.

Upgraded TC firmware and it disappeared from my wireless net - any ideas?
i have a wireless network servicing 3 macs. i bought a time capsule, and used it flawlessly for about a month, as an added device (not as the main airport gateway). last night software update advised me of a firmware update for TC - i installed it, and my TC has been an amber-blinking paperweight ever since.

Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

Tried installing itunes for 64 bit Windowns on my PC several times but each time soon after download starts the box disappears and nothing happens. Any ideas?
11.Once the updates are done, make sure you are booted into Windows and call Microsoft support and explain the issue (doing a clean installation with an upgrade disk.) The issue is very common and not specific to Mac users so they will pass you to Tech support and help you activate your copy of Windows.
Not always. I tried. Easier to reinstall Windows 7 over itself, activated fine. Or just do the legal thing and buy full copy. Mac Pro owners that want dual processor support need Pro or Ultimate (Enterprise also) rather than Home Premium.
I would NOT use Boot Camp 3.1, it causes problems for number of Mac Pro owners, though maybe not all so unclear what/why) but just stay with Boot Camp 3.0x from the Snow Leopard DVD (which can have trouble with AppleHFS) -

You could just disable updates. Change these settings in about:config.
* app.update.auto - set to false
* app.update.enabled - set to false
You can still check for updates with the "Check for Updates" button in the About Firefox window, but it will download the update file anyway if there is an update available. You can also check which is the current release from here:

Why does my artwork keep disappearing from my ipod? It's all visible in itunes, but on the ipod nano it when I copy over new albums with artwork, the artwork on the albums already on the ipod lose theirs, although they retain the artwork if viewed through itunes.
In case it matters, I don't "sync" my "library". I have a I have a PC and copy over directories containing albums of MP3 files by dragging them onto the ipod with itunes. I also tried pulling over only the files and not the directories.OK, so I decided that maybe if I "sync" my iPod instead of just copying stuff to it at will, that maybe it would fix the problem. I did a "restore", wiping out the contents. I set up a "playlist", and put everything that I wanted on the iPod into the "playlist". Then I "synced" the "playlist" onto the iPod. Every song and album now had the proper album art. I could live with this. Then I added another album to the "playlist", and "synced". The new album was now on the iPod with the correct artwork. The albums that were already on the iPod now either had their appropriate artwork, no artwork, or the artwork from the other albums that were already on the iPod, with no rhyme or reason as to which was which. AARGH. I wiped it out and re-added the now-explanded "playlist" and "synced" again, and every album had the right cover. I guess the only thing to do is completely replace the contents of the iPod any time I want to add or change anything, or forget about artwork.

I have 3 computers...Window PC, PowerBook G3 (old) and MacBook Pro. I use firefox for all of them and have for quite some time. Is there a way for them all to use the same toolbar? Each of them have differnet bookmark/ settings etc.,
Open Media Encoder and add your Sequences:
File > Add Premiere Pro Sequence
Navigate to your Premiere Project and select it in the list.
You can then select multiple Sequences from the Project (Ctrl+Click)
and load them all at once into Media Encoder and apply
the same encoding preset to all Sequences at the same time. -
I am trying to setup my Time capsule via a ethernet cable as a back up for a new iMac. The on button on the time capsule set up window keeps failing to stay on. Any ideas what to do?
A PC can have more issues connecting than a Mac.
But it really should not matter.. so just try it in situ.. press and hold the reset.. once it starts up, it will return to default IP, 10.0.1.1 the PC should then be able to find it via the airport utility.
If not drag it over to the Mac and plug in there by ethernet.. or since it is a laptop, really should not be that difficult to drag the Laptop and plug it into the TC.
Important thing is to get access to the TC.
The Mac if it is running lion, then you MUST download and install 5.6 airport utility to do anything useful.

my iCal calendar that I created with the color green keeps changing to purple. no matter how many times I change it to green, it turns it back to purple. Of course this only happens with iCloud and not "from my Mac". Any ideas on how to correct this? This seems like a trivial error, but it's super annoying.
I called Apple and they said that they know about this problem. It's a problem with iCloud which their Engineers know about. (there was a new iCloud release, hence...) No ETA for a fix yet. I asked that this be escalated so Engineering doesn't put it at the bottom of their fix list. I talked to a Senior Advisor and mentioned to them to have QA check their regression tests as this has happened before to me (the problem just didn't take this long to resolve). I like to use green too for important stuff, so I've resorted to creating a new calendar using the normal calendar green for events going forward. They could have picked another color besides green to have this problem with and I wouldn't have been so upset. ;-)

For some inexplicable reason, Safari 5.1 will not open in Windows 7. It appears in task manager briefly and then disappears. No windows open; I have tried everything. Any ideas??
I fixed the issue. It was related to the DEP settings on my windows machine.

I have multiple calendars set up but not all are displaying in iOS 7 notification center. I just get a heading stating "there is one all-day event scheduled" in the tomorrow summary. Can't get it to show the details of the event. any ideas?

I have Windows 8.1 64. Upgraded my iphone 5 to 7.1 version. My laptop did not recognize the iphone. After a couple of hours of tring to figure out why the laptop and iphone weren't syncing, these are the steps I followed. Most are pieced together from suggestion on various websites. Don't know if all steps are necessary, but it's what I did and it worked.
1) I did this first: Uninstall and reinstall itunes.
2) Reboot computer and iphone (turn off the on again)
3) Go to control panel and "repair" all apple apps.
4) Go to "Device Manager" on computer (go to left bottom corner and right click, locate Device Manger from list or you can use the Search..
4a) Go to Universial Serial Bus Controllers and look for "Apple Mobile Sevice USB Driver (Before "repairing" the apple apps, this did not appear on my laptop).
4b) Right-click the Apple iPhone in Device Manager and select Update Drive.
4c) Click "Browse my computer for driver software."
4d) Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer."
4e) Click the "Have Disk button"
4f) At the "Install from Disk" click Browse button.
4g) Go to the following folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers and Click OK.
4h) Click Next and finish the driver-installation steps.
5) You should then see the "Apple Mobile Service USB Driver in the Device Manager now.
6) Open itunes and hopefully the iphone and Windows 8.1 laptop will sync (a dialogue box will appear on the iphone 5 asking you to "trust" the computer. Select Trust.)
7) If this doesn't work, try rebooting your computer and turning off your iphone and then turn it back on.
Good Luck. It shouldn't be this time-consuming.
