If you are backing up your Mac using Time Machine, open Finder and navigate to "~/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~Numbers/Documents" (without the quotes) from the Go>Go to Folder menu. Then open Time Machine and go back to an earlier point in time until you see your Numbers documents, select them and click Restore, then exit Time Machine.

My keynote,pages,numbers document hangs in upload to icloud

When i create new or when editing documents from Keynote, the icon have the mark of uploading, but it never finish uploading.
The document is showing in the icloud.com have the "updating" status on for ever.
I can upload documents to the web and they are avialible on my iPad within minutes.
I have tried to see if there is a problem with my account or setting but i can't see any problems.
I have removed the iCloud account from the iPad and reconfigured it

I had similar issues when I first opened my iCloud account, I resolved it by saving the documents to either my desktop or iTunes (depending on where the latest version was and what was recoverable), turning all document syncing off and back on again and adding back the documents using different names.

On each machine turn on iCloud and sync all the available apps. Apple explains how to set up iCloud in http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/
After doing this run software update on each machine and install all the suggested updates. If you still need help installing the most up-to-date versions of iLife and iWorks open the Mac App Store - click the Purchased tab and update all that need to be updated.

To use Documents in the Cloud with your Mac apps, Documents & Data must be turned on in iCloud preferences.
Turn on Documents in the Cloud
- Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click iCloud.
- If you are not already signed in, sign in with the Apple ID you use with iCloud.
- Turn on Documents & Data.

Problem when opening an iCloud-Numbers-Document

Hello!
I cannot open a iCloud-Numbers-Document either on my iPad, neither on my MacBook. It only shows me an error message...

I too have this problem, but I have found a work around for it.
First I turned off iCloud storage for Numbers in the settings on my iPad. Then on my iMac I logged into iCloud.com land there is a Numbers app, which is still in beta, clicked on it and choose the file I wanted and choose the option to download it. Once downloaded I fired up iTunes and tried to import it into Numbers, but that didn't work so I choose another app, I have Textastic imported into that and then on my iPad opened the app and choose to open with Numbers from there and it worked.
I have also emailed my spreedsheet to myself and choose the option the open with Numbers from there and it worked. This method should also work with Dropbox, which I haven't tried but I will be adding my spreadsheets there for backup!
Hope this helps, it's a bit of a long winded hack, but it works. Hope Apple fix this soon.

On your computer go to iCloud.com, sign in and select the documents app.
On your iPad go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage and your documents should be listed.
If you are referring to an iOS device backup it is not possible to view these.

Uploading a document (pages/numbers/keynote) from my IPAD to iCloud???

Can I upload a Numbers '09 document, which I have created on my iPad earlier, to iCloud? When I open icloud.com on my Mac, I know that I can drag a file and see it on my iPad with iCloud. Can I do it the other way around? From iPad to Mac? I created a really important document on iPad which I will edit constantly that's why I need iCloud. Pleas help!!!

If you have Documents & Data turned on, all your Pages documents are uploaded automatically to iCloud.
To make sure that the document is uploaded, go to Settings > iCloud > Documents & Data, and activate it. Then, open Pages and all documents will be uploaded to iCloud. Also, you will see your existing documents on iCloud

My numbers documents in iCloud won't open and only message is "cannot open spreadsheet". Apparently these documents are lost. is there a fix?

I have lost several documents over the past year in numbers. they are saved in icloud and occassionally the icon will turn green or black. when i try to open them, i get a message "spreadsheet will not open." tried opening them in my macbook pro, iphone, and ipad. none worked. i have now lost 4-5 documents.

yes, i could use timecapsule or just back up on a usb drive, but that defeats the purpose of icloud. i use icloud because i need to open the documents on multiple devices throughout the week. when i open documents on my iphone away from home, i cant back them up using timecapsule or a usb. even if i could that would be doing double the work.
i question / problem is that there is a glich/flaw with icloud and numbers because every few weeks or months, one of my documents becomes corrupted and wont open and i loose everything on that spread sheet. the purpose of icloud is to automatically backup as I alter the documents on my multiple devices.
just wondering if apple has figured out how to correct this flaw. i have read about the same problem with other people. FYI this never happens with notes.

Can't open one of my Numbers documents that has 6 years of data that i use every day only ever on an ipad mini, it says "Spreadsheet couldn't be imported. An error accrued."

For collaboration I think you need to be using the iCloud version of Numbers (in your respective browsers) and be signed into the same iCloud account. Haven't experimented with it recently, though, so that may have changed with Yosemite.

You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

Changes to Numbers document on iOS get discarded

I was happily updating my spreadsheet with Numbers on my iPad 3. Then I opened the document in iCloud but the latest changes to my document weren't there. So, I closed the document at icloud.com and went back to my iPad. The latest changes to my Numbers document were completely erased from the iPad as well! There was absolutely no warning of conflicts and I didn't edit the spreadsheet in icloud.com at all!
What makes this happen and what to do to avoid this?

Now those changes aren't showing up in the same document on my iMac.
of course not. iwork on Mac does not even know that icloud exists. Syncing of iwork files is only active in iOS devices, not for Mac.
How can I accomplish this task?

After editing a downloaded document, you must re-upload it, else the iOS doesn't get the changes . The browser is the missing link, because as I said : iwork on Mac has no cloud integration - none. You can also use Microsoft or Open-Office, it just does not matter.. Basically you would not even have to have iwork09 installed, only those ios apps.
