My o's have disappeared in SL PDFs...

Regarding iWork '09 in general:
This message relates to disappearing o's (literally) when printing to PDF using Numbers, Pages or Keynote '09. This only happens when using (as it would) my favourite font: Din Mittelschrift (which is a Windows True Type font).
Indeed, document prints to printer OK, but try printing to PDF and all the o's disappear... which apart from the total inconvenience (to put it mildly) makes for strange and sometimes amusing reading...
So my question is: is this due to the upgrade to SL (worked perfectly in 10.5.x)? Does SL treat Windows TTF differently?
I know I can purchase this font in a Win/Mac OpenType format, but was wondering if any of you had any pointers as to why this is happening... and if it can be 'fixed'

Good idea.
I've tried, and yes, the o's also disappear with TextEdit. So its definitely this particular font... Strange this is that other Windows True Type fonts work perfectly well....
there's something very particular about the o's of Din Mittelschrift...

Currently goes through without textYou don't have to do anything special to save text you type as an annotation or in a form. What's probably confusing you is that if you view the PDF within iOS apps like Mail, it appears the text you typed disappeared. However, when you view the PDF file in Acrobat or Reader on Mac, Windows or other platform, the text is there. (It's a limitation of the native iOS PDF viewers.)
If you've updated to the newest version of Reader, you should also get a dialog offering the choice between "Share Original Document" and "Share Flattened Copy". The dialog explains the difference between the options. -
Form fields disappearing when combining PDFs
I'm having a curious issue where form fields that display properly in a one-page PDF document are disappearing when the document is combined into a larger, multi-page PDF document. The individual page (created in Acrobat Pro 8) has 12 rows of checkboxes that show up when the document is opened in Acrobat Pro 8, Pro X, or even Preview. However, after being combined into a 150-page PDF (with Acrobat Pro X), the top three rows of checkboxes have disappeared (and this occurs across all of the programs I just listed). I've tried re-doing the offending page in both Acrobat 8 and X, and replacing it within the multi-page document (again, trying both Acrobat 8 and X) and once it's combined into the larger PDF, those top three rows of checkboxes always disappear. I'm at a loss.
Any suggestions for troubleshooting this?
- Mac OS 10.6.7
- iMac 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo / 3GB RAM
- Acrobat Pro X (or 8)I'm combining them by using the "Combine Files Into a PDF" feature in Acrobat. I've done this countless times before with no issues -- this is the first time I've seen this happen.

Some photos have disappeared!!
My mac froze so I turned it off and rebooted it, and when I reopened iPhoto afterwards, more than half of my photos have disappeared from the Library. I went to the iPhoto folder in the Finder and it shows all the pictures are still there, in their dated folders. When I tried to import them back into the Library, it comes up with an error saying that they're already there ... even though they aren't showing up. What's wrong, and how can I fix it?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Unless you have a backup of either the iPhoto LIbrary folder or the Library6.iPhoto database file you've lost that library are it was. The dB file has been damaged. You can try rebuilding the library but I don't hold much hope for success. Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library.
If that doesn't work you'll have to create a new library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the rolls from the original.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same rolls as the original library. However dates on the rolls may be different but can be edited as you would the roll title.
Once this is completed you can delete the Originals folder from the desktop and the iPhoto Llibrary folder. If desired, you can keep the older library folder to try other fixes on it.
In the future I recommend you make a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto file after each import and after doing a lot of editing and organizing in the library. Then if you experience a similar crash all you need to do is replace the damaged database file with the backup copy and you'll be back to the same place in the library as when you make the backup. See the tip at the end of my signature.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file. -
Since updating to iOS08 all my books have disappeared from iBooks, including some I haven't read yet. Any ideas how I can get them back?

Text Wrap Options have Disappeared ID CS4
All the icons in my Text Wrap window have disappeared. The tab/pallet is still there, but empty. The pop out still lists “Show Options” and “Apply to Master Page Only” are still there, but grayed out. Thanks in advance for any help!!

In the latest verision of ITunes (downloaded yesterday) I can no longer see how large (in GB's) my music library or playlists are. This is a very valuable function and it seems to have disappeared. Anyone know where it is?
Go to the View menu and turn on the Status Bar. If you don't see the menus, go to the small icon with the arrow at the extreme upper left and select "Show Menu Bar":

When I sign in to the Adobe Reader XI (which is the only option that I have to open a pdf document, I will sign in to the Adobe ID sign-in page. After I do this, the "Convert To" box goes "gray" and I am unable to convert the document I have selected. It was working great for the first week that I used it, but now it doesn't give me the converting option. I am very frustrated as I have done nothing to change anything, and I was thinking this was so great...now I am just pulling out my hair and do not have the option of calling anyone since no phone numbers are listed. I am VERY busy and do not have time to sit and wait over a half an hour to "chat", which I tried to do yesterday. All I want to do is very simply, convert pdfs to Word. I have paid for this and am not getting any help. I am not very savvy when it comes to Adobe this program and Adobe that program...I feel I am being scammed as I do not get simple answers for something that appeared was going to be simple. You can't even call customer service to talk to someone live to help walk you through.

Please let me know if you have tried converting any other PDF to word with Reader.
Alos, please sign up at "https://cloud.acrobat.com/" using your Adobe ID credentials. Click on 'ExportPDF' tab and upload the PDF that you want to convert to Word.

I just backed up my 3gs iphone using itunes. All my photos and contacts have disappeared from my phone. I am unable to locate them on my computer. HELP!!!
OK, I understand. Try this ... it's much safer. It will simply restore your backup, but not do anything to your iOS:
While your iPhone is plugged in to iTunes, right click on the iPhone icon on the left side of the iTunes display.
Choose "Restore from backup ..." from the pop-up menu that appears.
Again, what this will do is place that backup back on your iPhone without changing iOS. So you should be very confident in the backup contents before doing this. -
All of my instrument loops from Garage band '09 have disappeared. What do I do?
All of the insturment loops I have been using have disappeared. They don't show up in new projects, nor are they accessible in old ones that were created using the loops. I have tried to locate the loops on the HD as others have posted but they are not there. They only loops that exist there are the FX loops which I have access to. Why has this happened and what can I do? Using an iMac if that makes a difference. Also, I suspect that a software update may have been conducted recently, so this might suggest where the problem started. Can I check if one indeed has? (I'm not the only user of the computer).
Well we need a lot more information
like what version of iPhoto and of the OS? What recently changed? do you have a backup?
If you depress and hold the opeion key and launch iPhoto do you see multiple libraries in the select library window that results? If you do check each one

I clicked on Re-Index apple loops user library, and all my loops disappeared. I went on garageband and re indexed them again there, but not all of my loops have appeared.
I've reindexed spotlight, I've re installed Logic, but they're still not there. Why? 130 pounds isn't cheap for software that doesn't work...
Oh and also some of the instruments have disappeared.

Safari multiple windows on ipad
When you have multiple windows/screens open in Safari they insist on refreshing when swapping between them. This can be both slow and data intensive. It also is not how Safari behaves on a normal computer. Any way to turn off?
