My Officejet 7410 won't print documents

My Officejet 7410 won't print any files.  The HP downloadable troubleshooting utility found nothing wrong with my printer.  I've deleted this printer from Windows XP.  I've then shut down my computer and printer, restarted the computer, and then reinstalled my printer.
I can print a test page just fine.  I can scan a document and save it.  But I can't print from Word, WordPad, NotePad, or any document through my browser, which is Google Chrome.
The printer was working perfectly yesterday.  Any ideas on what is going on?
I'm pretty desperate, I need to be able to print for my job, and by tomorrow morning I'm going to need to print again, so the clock is definitely ticking.
UPDATE:  I removed the printer(s) from my printer list, completely uninstalled the software, and downloaded new software and reinstalled the printer.  Now it prints and scans.

Hi,
Do you have an option for Draft mode in the print settings / print preferences?

  • My HP officejet 6210 no longer prints documents from my Mac ibook G4 running 10.4.11; starts to process the document, but then stops the print,if I restart print same thing happens

My ibookG4, running 10.4.11 suddenly decided it no longer wants to print documents thru my HP officejet 6210 all-in-one printer.  So far I've tried emails, excel and word all with the same result.  The computer will start to process the print request (processing seems to take longer than previously) and then suddenly the processing stops and a red exclamation mark appears next to the printer image at the bottom of screen.  When I pull up the printer utility it tells me the printer is "stopped".  If I restart it, the process begins all over again until once again it stops.  I have already deleted the printer completely from my computer and reinstalled the software fom the HP site.  For some reason had a really tough time finding the correct print drivers on the HP site, but did finally locate them.  I have not even attempted scanning during this (I see lots of people reported issues with that for the 6210), I would be happy if I could at least print again.  I am connecting via USB.  Is there some way to fix this?

  • Officejet 6500A won't print

My officejet 6500A plus won't print often.  It says it can't communicate with my Asus pc.   I unplug it for a day or two and it starts printing!  Just turning it off doesn't help.  I need to unplug it.  Meanwhile I can't print for days!  Any suggestions?

    Hey @collage,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with resolving the communication issues you're receiving on your Windows 8.1 computer when trying to print to your HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-All-in-One Printer. Can I please have you run through the steps below.
    Step 1: Run Microsoft Hotfix:
Microsoft recently released a Hotfix to resolve printing issues on the Windows 8.1 Operating System. I'm going to have you start by running the Microsoft Fix to see if this quickly resolves your intermittent print issues.
    Microsoft Support: Hotfix
Once the website opens, select the Hotfix Download Available box. Run through the onscreen instructions to complete the Hotfix update.
Once the Hotfix is complete, please test printing again. Should the issue persist, please proceed to the next step.
    Step 2: Add Alternate Driver:
Even though there is a Full Feature Software and Driver download available for your printer on Windows 8.1, there is a chance that your Windows 8.1 Operating System is not agreeing with the driver for your printer. To confirm if this is the case please follow the steps below.
Open your Start screen (either by selecting the windows start button in the bottom left hand corner or by selecting the 'Windows' button on the bottom left of your keyboard to the left of 'Ctrl'
In the Start Screen type 'Devices and Printers'
If the Devices and Printers option doesn't automatically populate, than click on Settings on the top right and then click on Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers folder right click on your HP Officejet 6500A Plus and left click on Printer Properties
Left click on the Advanced tab
    Left click on New Driver
When the New Driver window opens just hit 'next' until you see a list of Manufacturers on the left and a list of Printers on the right.
Select HP as the Manufacturer on the left
Select Deskjet 9800 as the printer on the right. If Deskjet 9800 doesn't appear than select 'Windows Update' on the bottom left and once the update completes you will be able to select Deskjet 9800.
After selecting Deskjet 9800 hit next to complete the New Driver Wizard
Under the Printer Properties window select 'Apply' but don't hit OK
    Select the General tab
Rename your printer back to HP Officejet 6500A Plus
    Hit OK
Lastly, right click on your HP Officejet 6500A Plus one more time and left click on Printing Preferences
Left click on the Paper/Quality tab
Left click on the 'Normal' dropdown for Print Quality on the bottom right and change this to Fast Normal
    Hit Apply and OK
    Try to print!
Please let me know if either the Hotfix from Microsoft of the alternate print driver resolves your printing issues. Best of luck!

  • HP Officejet 4630 won't print at all

Today my brand new HP Officejet 4630 just decided to call it quits on me. After printing about 5 pages without any hassle, when I went to print a document, it simply would not print. What has happened is that the printer itself will say "now printing..." with the loading bar but nothing will actually print. When I check on my Macbook Pro about the status of my printing documents, it will say "Printing, Starting on Page XX" with the loading bar a quarter full.  I checked the printer for any paper clogs or anything but I have yet to find any such issue within the computer. The printer has brand new ink, it is loaded with paper (but not too much), and has never had any issues until now. Unless if I manually cancel the printing job, it will presumably keep saying "Now printing..." without anything happening.  I've tried to actually print a document from the "samples" provided from the HP Officejet 4630, like a crossword puzzle, and even that would not print, and would just say "Now printing..". I have no idea what to do nor do I know what is wrong with it. I haven't seen any error codes or notifications yet, and the printer is literally not even a couple of months old with very minimal usage.  Any help on this will be greatly appreciated!

Hello , Welcome to the HP Community, I hope you have a pleasant experience with us. I'd like to help you with the freezing that you are experiencing on your HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One printer. This may sound a little ridiculous, but do you have the printer plugged directly into a wall outlet? The reason I suggest doing this, is because the printer has a power moderator built in. It possible that if it is plugged into a secondary power-moderating device (such as a power surge bar, or battery backup), that it is unable to pull enough power to print, and that may be why it is getting stuck. If that doesn't immediately resolve the issue, I'd recommend downloading and running the most recent firmware update for your printer here - HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer series Firmware Update I'm also curious if you're able to make a copy on the printer itself? The hang up with the apps could possibly be a network connection issue (as could the wireless printing on the mac), so it's possible that it's not a hardware issue at all. I'd appreciate it if you could try this and let me know the result. I look forward to hearing back from you and working toward a resolution for this issue.Have a fantastic weekend!

  • HP Officejet J4580 won't print in black

I have an Officejet J4580 that won't print black.  I bought it a few months ago (when Circuit City started their going out of business sale) and it worked fine when I installed it, then I turned it off and it sat until recently.  Now, everything else works fine but black won't print.
It says that there is ink in the black cartridge, and I have tried aligning cartridges and cleaning them, with no luck.  It is an original HP cartridge, not refilled, reused or by another vendor.
Any suggestions would be appreciated; I would hate to have to buy another cartridge after using this one only during installation and installation test pages!
    Dan

Printer is junk. This is 2nd cartridge that I used and I ended with not a single black letter printed on paper. I am seling mine with new cartridge for 1/5 price locally in Serbia so if you are there email me if you want it.
I think I am done with HP. this one is chinese build quality and is worth nothing.

  • HP Officejet 6310xi won't print - keeps blinking "reset power" and all lights flashing.

I have an HP Officejet 6310xi that won't print.  When you select print, the paper begins to feed then suddenly stops before any printing begins and all lights on the face of the printer begin blinking and the message "RESET POWER" blinks in the screen readout of the printer.  When I turn printer off and back on, the screen indicates a used color cartridge is inserted and I hit OK, then indicates used black cartridge is inserted, then I hit OK, then it says it needs to align cartridges, I hit OK.  After trying to align cartridges, it suddenly stops and goes back to all lights flashing and screen flashing "RESET POWER".   I can hit cancel during cartridge alignment and printer goes to normal ready position.  I can then print a test page.  But as soon as I try to print anything else, even the diagnostics page, it goes back to flashing all lights and "RESET POWER".  I did a semi reset (unplug, wait, plug in holding #6) and a full reset (with #9).  That did nothing except wipe out the date on the screen read out of the printer.   So I know the full reset executed correctly but it did not solve my problem.  Please HELP! I am reposting with email me selected - I'm new at this posting to forums...

Maybe they can offer you a discount on an alternate model. • HP Officejet 6500 won't print black after power outages

We experienced a series of power outages last night. Now the black won't print at all. The print cartridge is fairly new, about a month old, scarcely used. All the color cartridges will print.
I've tried cleaning the print heads and running the alignment tests, but nothing can produce any black ink. For a pure text page with just black lettering and nothing else, the printer goes through the motions but nothing is printed.
I have a feeling that the power outages tripped it up somehow. Is there a way to undo this?
    thanks in advance

@Kenteeple and @oli22  If you make a copy, will that print black?

  • Officejet 8600 won't print since Yosemite upgrade

I have a problem installing the HP driver since I updated Yosemite. I get these messages.
    So I can't install properly.
I have delted the printer in the system preferences, repaired disk permissions, and reinstalled 3.0 driver. The messages above are what I receive during installation.
What I am experiencing regarding printing is my second print job won't print until I put the computer to sleep and then open it up again. The weird thing is is it will print my first job even after it has printed it once.
    Here is the print list.
This is what I see... Opening printer connection shows at the top all the time. The job that is listed will print and then say 100% complete when it is finished printing. Then when I send another job this is what the list looks like:
The second job listed won't print until I put the computer to sleep and then it will print.

    Hi,
From the Applications folder open the Hewlett-Packard folder and follow the Uninstall option to remove the software.
Next click the Go menu (you may have to click of Finder for the go menu to appear), then click on Computer and open the active volume of your OS, that will more likely be listed as Macintosh-HD.
Open the System folder, then open the Library folder
(If the library folder is hidden and not listed, click on Go > Go to folder, type Library and click on OK.
Open the Extentions folder and locate both of the MaxtorPowSecDriver.kext and the IOFireWireMxBt.kext files, copy those files to your desktop and then delete it from the Extensions folder (for backup porpuses be sure not to delete those till you are fully up and running with no issues).
Next repair the disk permissions as following:
    1. Open the the Applications folder.
    2. Go to the Utilities folder.
    3. Double-click on Disk Utility.
    4. Select the hard drive containing the boot volume.
    5. Go to the First Aid tab and select Repair Disk Permissions.
Note: This process may take several minutes depending on the Mac and amount of permissions that need to be repaired. The Progress Log will indicate when the process has been completed.
Once you are done, download and install the following software:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=oj-125213-3&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...

  • HP officejet 4630 won't print on both sides of paper

Cannot print on both sides of paper. The backsideprints first, then wait for ink to dry, front side starts to print then stops with a windows error message popping up on screen saying cannot print document.
I have found that I cannot print multiple pages either. For example, I decided to print the 4 page document as single pages only (since double sided wouldn't work) and the results were first page prints second page prints about a third and then all stop with error message that printer cannot print the pdf document. so I had to select each page seperately to finnally get all four pages printed. HP print and scan diagnostics says theres is no problem. Windows diagnostics says there is no problem.
Obviously there is a problem can any one offer advice and solution?
    Thanks

    Hello Kimoho,

If its not seem installed, adjust to it installed and try again.

  • Officejet 4630 won't print multiple page document

Installation was a piece of cake - but I've found that when I try to print more than 2 pages, I receive a printing error. There's no explanation as to what the error might be. I've run the HP doctor and it said that errors were fixed. When I tried to print again, I received the same error. This is very frustrating. Please help. This is a brand new printer.

Hi   Although I am not sure what the error is, or what is causing it, I have a few things we can do to try to resolve the issue.  First I suggest using the following steps to delete the printer from device and printers, and the driver from the server properties. 1. In the ‘Devices and Printers’ folder2. Choose ‘Print server properties’.Win XP – With no printer selected, click ‘File’ then ‘Server Properties’.Windows Vista – With no printer selected, press ‘Alt’ then click ‘File’ then ‘Server Properties’.Windows 7/8 and 8.1 – Select any printer in the ‘Devices and Printers’ folder and click ‘Print Server properties’ above.3. Click on the ‘Drivers’ tab at the top of ‘Print server properties’ window4. Choose the printer you want to uninstall and click ‘Remove’5. Choose 'Remove driver only'6. The next screen will give a warning, letting you know that deleting the driver package will remove it from the system. Click ‘Yes’ to say that you are sure you want to do this. If documents are stuck in the print spooler, you may see an error, cancel any documents pending in the print queue, or try restarting the print spooler, then try to remove the driver from ‘Print server properties’ again. If it still won’t remove the package, restarting the computer and the printer should resolve this ‘in use’ error and allow the driver to be removed. If the you continue to get an 'in use' message follow the steps in the document here; The Specified Printer Driver is Currently in Use
After the driver is removed, open Start > All Programs > HP folder > Printer folder > HP Setup and Software (or the printer icon).
The Setup and software screen will open and you can click on Connect a new printer.
If this issue persists let me know and I will see what else we can do. Thanks.

  • HP officejet pro 8100 not printing documents when asked, and slow to respond.

My Officejet Pro 8100 has allways been used wireless. It allways had a lag when asked to print and producing the document. Often the unable to connect to printer message comes up, then shortly latter it started to print.
We have now switched to Vergin Media ISP. The printere was set up to the new network as before no problem. The router is lacated downstairs by by our TV where the cable enters the house. Our 2 pc's are now wireless due to this (one windows XP and one Windows 7). Then there's Ipads etc.
Conectivity is not a problem the pcs are located in our study with the printer upstairs. My Ipad works in the Garden so theres plenty of range. All devices are on the same conection.
The problem with slow printing is now worse. Ask to print and often nothing happens. Switch printer off/on and it may print the last comand of not. It may accept the next command to print or not. Indescrimnently it may print 'misssed prints' at any time.
Basically it cannot be relied on to print when asked to, really frustrating!! The printers wireless indicator is lit its conected to the network. Any ideas as this is a real pain. Remote printing from a phone is a no go as it probably wont happen.
We need to print and it happen.

    Hello @Ants9,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with resolving the slow printing issue that you're experiencing with your networked HP Officejet Pro 8100 ePrinter from your Windows computers and other devices. I understand that this issue began with your original router and now is occuring with your new network. I am going to run you through some troubleshooting steps below to resolve this issue.
Step 1: Run Print and Scan Doctor:
To verify that your printer is properly detected on your Windows XP and Windows 7 computers I would like you to download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool. This Tool will run on your computers and 'fix printing' issues for you. Should any driver, connection, or software conflict be found than the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool will attempt to resolve those conflicts for you.
Please click here to download the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool. Please download this Tool on your Windows XP and Windows 7 computers.
Once the Tool has completed, please test printing again. Should the issue persist, please proceed to the next step.
    Step 2: Powercycle Network:
First, unplug the power cable to your Router
Once your Router is unplugged, turn off your printer
    Next, shut down your computer
After 30 seconds to 1 minutes, plug your Router back in
    Next, turn on your printer
    Turn on the computer
After a few minutes the internet connection will return. Please check on your Windows computers and ensure that you're able to browse to websites before continuing. Once the network is up and running again please test printing to check the printing speeds.
Should the issue persist, please proceed to the next step.
    Step 3: Update Firmware:
There is chance that corrupted programming in your printer could be causing the slow printing issue. Therefore, I am going to have you update the Firmware Version on your printer.
Please click here to download the latest programming on your printer. Once the website opens select the Download button on the top left. Follow any onscreen instructions to send the Firmware Update to the printer. This update can be run from either the Windows XP or Windows 7 computers.
Please test printing again to verify if everything is now working as it should be.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you!
