I'm getting tired

I think my ipod comes from the same generation and it took a while before i got the right information. I have an old version of itunes(plus whatever other software is on the cd) and i think that is what made it work. I got the same error at some point and once it synced with itunes it went through a process to correct the problem. I got the ipod maybe two years ago so the information is sketchy. I synced and reset it i think via windows originally even though i am a linux user but i could not work out how to do it in linux then as i was pretty new to it. Plus the guy at the Apple shop told me it is better to do it in windows. Well they don't know linux. So maybe an older version of itunes might be the clue to solving this? I might have also changed the battery at that time ....
My ipod has been syncing with both windows(itunes) and Linux apps on many machines over the past two years. Anyway if i can think of more info i will let you know.

Look at this similar problem in getting Netflix on an iPad 1. Same technique should work for you.

  • HT1363 why exactly isnt  the ipod classic 1st gen compatible with windows7?

when i connect my ipod classic 1st gen to my windows 7 32-bit labtop it says it says one of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfuntioned and wndows dose not reconize it.....i have read that the 1st gen ipod classic isnt compatible with windows 7...but why?

    clarification needed
if it is the iPod 1st Gen (2001-2002), then it run only on Mac OS 9 and 10, will not run on any Windows machine.
If it is a iPod Classic Rev 1 (generally known as 6th Gen, circa 2008), then it runs on both Mac OS X and Windows XP or later  machine.

  • Had to reformat my hard drive, now ipod doesn't recognize my computer

I was infected with numerous viruses and had to refomat the hard drive. When I connect the iPod, it doesn't recognize the computer as the same one, so I can't get the files that I already paid for off the iPod. Any ideas?

Yes, all you iTunes data are on the old drive. Get an external enclosure in which you may install the old drive in order to connect it to your computer and copy your iTunes data to your new drive.
Everything is on your old drive unless you copied it to the new drive.

  • My bank doesn't recognize my computer on FF but does on IE.

When I attempt to log in to my banking account the bank doesn't recognize my computer. I have told the bank system that this is a private computer on earlier logins yet it asks for additional authentication each time. This does not occur when I use Internet Explorer, only with FireFox.

I don't know what kind of security your bank requires, But if your FF 34 was updated it might have SSLv3 turned of.

  • My iPod nano (1st gen.) doesn't communicate with my pre-installed iTunes

I've had my iPod nano for just over a year now. It worked fine, including with my computer and iTunes, until my hard disk blew last summer. Since then, I've had trouble getting my iPod to work. Now I'm able to load it up with the Dock, and I'm pretty sure it's working normally.
However, my problem is that iTunes, which I had already installed several months before I reconnected my iPod, as I had some free song vouchers which were going to expire, doesn't recognize my iPod. I'm pretty sure there's a way to connect an iPod up to iTunes when the latter had already been installed, but I don't know how. Also, I have a lot of music on my iPod which I no longer have anywhere else. MY question is:
How can I connect my iPod up to iTunes (which has already been on my pc for a while) without losing any of the music on it?

Make sure all the songs in i-tunes are checked off (small box to the left of each song in the songs list), and click sync, or apply.

  • I have a new 1st Gen ipad and cant get my computer to recognize in devices in itunes or

When the AirPort Extreme is in DHCP and NAT mode, it is the product that is controlling the number of devices that can connect to your network......which is around 200.
When the AirPort Extreme is in Bridge Mode....it is your "modem" that is controlling the number of devices that will be allowed to connect to the network. Your modem is not really a modem, it is a modem/router or gateway type of device.
If everything seems to work OK with the AirPort Extreme in DHCP and NAT mode, you do have the option to click to "ignore" the Double NAT error, and the AirPort Extreme will display a green light.
Double NAT occurs when there are two devices...your "modem" and the AirPort Extreme....on the network and both of them are trying to control DHCP and NAT at the same time. Normally, you only want one device on a network providing DHCP and NAT service.
In order for your modem and AirPort Extreme to work correctly, it is the "modem" that needs to be set up in Bridge Mode, so the AirPort Extreme will supply DHCP and NAT services for up to 200 devices.
That may, or may not be easy to do, and your ISP may not support your "modem" in that type of setup.
It is up to you to decide whether you want to try to set things up correctly, or leave well enough alone.

  • How to restore movies loaded on my 1st Gen Apple TV back to the computer

I just pulled a major dumb move. I deleted all of my movies from my computer. I am not worried about my iTunes movies because I can restore those. I am talking about the 30 or so movies that I have converted from my DVD collection. Presently, they are still loaded onto my Apple TV (1st Gen). If I simply synch, will they reload to my Computer (Windows 7)?
    HELP!

No.  AppleTV was never intended as a storage device.
If you sync you will lose items not in iTunes from AppleTV too.
Always wise to backup media - less of an issue with iTunes purchases than it used to be, but even they can occasionally disappear from the store if they are no longer for sale.
(BTW discussing DVD conversion is not allowed by Apple even if you own those DVDs yourself and feel this is fair use - the laws vary around the world but Apple forum T&Cs make it best for you to avoid such discussions).

  • 1st gen ipod shuffle is recognize by PC but not in Itunes 10.4.

i was not using my 1st gen for a year now and decided to resurrect it now, when i plug it in my PC,itunes says that i should update it and reset,so i did.but after updating and resetng my shuffle, itunes cannot recognize it anymore.i tried all the steps in apple tech support but its still not working. PC recognizes it but not itunes. can anyone help me.
    thanks.

See http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD836LL/A/apple-12w-usb-power-adapter, which is the same one that came with your iPad (though it may be 10W if you had an older iPad). See the "Compatibility" section.

  • I'm using a new computer and to open one website I have to answer the security questions each time saying that the site doesn't recognize this computer.

Each time I try to open my "ubt" website, I get a message that says the site does not recognize this computer so I have to answer the security questions each time. I get the message "You are attempting to log in to your account from a computer that we do not recognize..." All other websites work just fine. The Mac store person could not figure it out. This site works on Safari, but I prefer Firefox.

The ipod is not a backup device. The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases:  Without syncing:File>transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your backup copy of your  old computer to your new one.

  • ITunes doesn't recognize my computer as authorized anymore

I haven't made a hardware change to this computer since January, and it's always worked fine. I've rented several movies. This was my one authorized computer. This afternoon, the 9.0.1 upgrade ran and upgraded iTunes. I now have 9.0.1.8. Tonight I wanted to rent a movie, and it says my computer isn't authorized! According to the account info page, there is 1 authorized computer associated with my account. It should be this one! Why doesn't iTunes recognize my computer as authorized anymore? I think the iTunes upgrade messed something up, because it worked fine before.
    Win XP Pro SP3
    iTunes 9.0.1.8
The movie I tried to rent: Fanboys

  • 1st Gen ATV Doesn't Locate iTunes after updating to 10.0.1.

I just finished updating iTunes to Version 10.0.1, but now for some reason it no longer seems to be ab;e to locate my Apple TV. I can't stream any content from my library.
It was working perfectly fine a few minutes ago before I'd made the update, but now it isn't registering under the devices menu. I tried to delink my library on the Apple TV and re-establish the connection. When I go to "Connect to iTunes" on the Apple TV it gives me the standard 5 digit number, but iTunes doesn't even open up the menu in Devices necessary to establish the connections.
I'm working from a standard Macbook and like I'd said earlier, the connection was pristine until I made the upgrade. I have Home Sharing turned on in iTunes and everything is running through the same network & router.
Is there something I'm missing? Could this be a glitch since I'm running a 1st Generation Apple TV?

  • Some of my songs on my old ipod 1st gen wont transfer

I just got a new 4th generation ipod touch a while ago and my old ipod didn't transfer all of my songs to itunes so about half of my songs are still on my old ipod and i can't get them on itunes. WHAT DO I DO? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    - Did you follow the instructions here:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
The computer has to be authorised for all accouts that purchased the music.
    - For non-Tunes purchased music you need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:

  • IPod Touch (1st gen) simply doesn't work anymore. Help?

Horrible day it's been. I wake up and unplug my iPod Touch from its charger. The iPod Touch says it is fully charged. I go to school for a few hours, and come back. My iPod Touch's battery is completely drained. It was completely off, and it drained. I ignore it and recharge my iPod. While charging, I try to access the internet, but Wi-Fi wouldn't work. So, as usual, I went to my settings. Instead of going to Settings > Wifi > and then selecting my connection, I was stopped. The Wifi subcatagory on the Settings catagory was greyed out.
It said "Wifi No Wifi." This never happened before. I go right next to my router, to see if it's my router's problem. Still no wifi. I turn on my laptop to see if there's wifi connection, and there is. It's the iPod's problem.
I go to the iPod Touch support page, and it gives me the 5 R's: Restart, Reset, Retry, Reinstall, Restore. I restart my iPod. No difference. Wifi still wouldn't work. I hook it up to my computer, and try to restore my iPod. It says there is a software problem. I reset my iPod. I'm not quite sure what it did, but somehow it fixed the software problem. So as I am restoring my iPod, it reinstalls the software, which took about 3 hours to download. When I come back to check up on my iPod, all the music and apps are erased. And worst of all, the Wifi still won't work.
I ignore it and figure that I would just have to live without Wifi and I'll just put my music back on. I rehook up my iPod Touch to my computer, and iTunes does not even recognize it as a device. All my iPod Touch does while hooked up to my computer is charge. So I restart my computer and replug in my iPod Touch. No difference.
So now I have an iPod which has no music, no videos, and no apps.
The iPod Touch is not able to even put on music, videos, or apps.
    There is still no Wifi.
All it does is tell me the time.
And you know what? It's the wrong time. It's 2 minutes too early.
Now, I understand, my iPod Touch is out of warranty, and after a few years, electronic devices stop working. That's not the main reason I am upset.
The main reason I am upset is that my iPod Touch had a problem, and so I went to the website for instructions on what to do. The 5 steps it told me to do made the situation worse. The 5 steps it told me to do made my iPod Touch go from simply something with a poor battery and no wifi, to something with poor battery, no wifi, no music, no videos, and no apps.
If I were to bring this into an Apple store, would I be entitled to at least a discount on a new device?
