As long as you have the serial number (or numbers if it's an upgrade) you simply install it as normal and put in the numbers when asked.
You don't need to ask Apple for permission or tell it that you are changing computers.
You could install it on millions of computers if you wanted but to stay legal you are only supposed to put it on a maximum of 2 computers (one laptop and one desktop that you own).
I am not sure whether FCS 2 will work with Lion but you'll soon find out!

Hello, I just got a new ssd for my snow leopard macbook and would like to copy After Effects CS3 from the original HD to SSD if possible.
When I tried to just put After Effects in the SSD application folder and launch it, I got an error "licensing for this product has stopped working. You must repair the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Or contact IT administrator or adobe customer support."
What am I supposed to do?
I don't have the install disc. I don't even remember if I got this application from online or a disc...

I recommend you to give the definitive size you think you will need to both partitions.
An example: you have created the second volume, and you have also the first volume. If you want to resize the first volume and reduce its size to add the space to the second partition, you will have problems because Disk Utility won't allow you to add it. That's why you should give to each volume the definitive size

The worst that will happen is that once in a while it will remind you to activate it as a phone. Just ignore the notifications.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the other ID. When you delete the account it will prompt you about what to do with the iCloud data. If you need to migrate it and merge it with the data in the new account choose Keep on My iDevice; then choose Merge to upload the data and merge it with the new account. If your data is already in the other account and you don't need to migrate it to the other account, choose Delete from My iDevice.

You should probably partition the drive so that your iTunes library is on one partition and Time Machine is on a different partition. The way Time Machine works, it will just continue doing backups until the drive or partition is full. Then it will notify you and start overwriting the oldest backups. If your iTunes library is on the same partition, there would be the possibility that Time Machine could start overwriting the iTunes Library, which you do not want to have happen. So it would be best to either have a separate drive or a separate partition for TM.

I work for a small business man and use my old Appleworks drawing program to make certificates and flyers for him because it is so easy to manipulate individual parts of the text and pictures. I want to update my computer so it can communicate with my ipad, but am afraid I will loose the ability to use my files and program. Can I still use my appleworks drawing program if I download Snow Leopard?

I dropped my 17" macbook pro and the screen is broken. Can I still use it with an external monitor? When I plugged it into a monitor I had used it with before, I'm not able to see anything on the macbook screen to control it. It came on but I just got the blue screen with nothing else after typing in my password. (Didn't see the password form just assumed it was there somewhere and it did go from space to blue screen but no desktop icons, files, dock strip at top or anything else, just blank blue screen) so I can't access the system preferences.

It seems it's coming on I just can't access anything. BTW I was told it would cost aprox $1000 to replace the screen! I'd like to promise you that everything will be fine if you just get the monitor going - but it's hard to know what the hardware damage might be. It might be the monitor, or the damage might be greater.
Your best solution would be visit your local Apple Store and let them know what your situation is. They have access to diagnostics you don't, and they might be able to the best way to save your data and keep you computing. It's still not covered, but they can tell you what your current options are.
Um, you might consider investing in a backup drive.

Several things here so let me attempt to clarify.
For iCloud the reason the contacts where removed from he other device is because you updated your contacts, in this case deleted them, and then iCloud updated the other device to match. By deleting the iCloud account on the device it will stop the device from using that iCloud account and therefore nothing will change on the other device. By using a seperate Apple ID you can still use the features of iCloud, Find My iPhone comes to mind, without your content (contacts, message etc.) merging with the other device
For iTunes, you cannot use two Apple IDs for one account however if you use the same account iTunes on your computer will keep the content on each device seperate very nicely. You can also configure the settings for iTunes and the App store on each device to keep the content from automatically downloading to the other device. What I meant by share apps and music is this. What happens if you find a game, lets say Minecraft, that you really like and it cost, as Mincraft cost, $6.99USD. You buy it and play for a while and then you realize that your husband really likes the game as well. If you both use the same Apple ID for iTunes he can download the $7.00ish game to his device at no additional charge. If you use seperate Apple IDs for iTunes well... it look like he will also be paying for the game to have it on his account. Same goes for Music and Movies

If you have a Mac mini without a built-in SuperDrive, you have two ways to install Windows on your Mac using Boot Camp:
- If you have Windows in a ISO file > open Boot Camp Assistant, tick the option to create a Windows installation USB drive and follow the steps.
- If you have Windows in a DVD > buy an external optical drive, connect it to your computer, open Boot Camp Assistant and follow the steps to install Windows.
Don't forget to download Windows support software, and install it just after finishing the Windows installation.

Yes, MlchaelLAX, the KVM switch allow one to use one monitor, one keyboard, and one mouse between two computers. It has been so long that I'm not sure how to find the MODELS to the G4 and G5. Unless you mean what makes the Mac tick. The G5 is a dual 2GHz PowerPC, with 2 GB DDR SDRAM. The G4 is a bit slower, will look tomorrow.
I want/need a newer Mac model because unlike the days before OS X, all software was included as the newer OS were added, not so today. I'm still using Tiger because I still use a couple programs from the old days. When I eventually purchase a new model, I will have to buy all new software. That's find if one has plenty of money and wants to learn everything from scratch, but I'm hanging on as long as I can.
I tried TenFourFox, but it didn't allow video, of course since I tried Michael's suggestion, the video might not be an issue. So far, every thing works the way it should.
I have a lot of faith in Mac users, their loyalties to Apple is what kept Apple floating when many thought it would sink. These folks are survivors; I only wish the apple people on the top appreciated that loyalty today, but I guess things are too good.

A few weeks ago I bought Lightroom 4.1 Student/Teacher. I saw that Lightroom 5 is coming out soon, if I buy it, can I still use my 4.1 version? Could I even register Lightroom 5 with the same proof that I am a student that I used for registering Lightroom 4.1? I have Lightroom 4.1 on my laptop and was thinking about buying Lightroom 5 for my PC. But I don't know if I can still buy the Student/Teacher version!?

The upgrade price is the same as what the student version costs. I purchased an academic version of Lightroom 4, and upgraded to Lightroom 5 online/download. There were no problems, and you don't have to do any of the student verification stuff. I still have both versions installed and active on my computer.
