Install iTunes.
Once install, hold SHIFT and launch iTunes.
When prompted, point iTunes to the correct location for the iTunesLibrary.itl file which should be in the iTunes folder under <user>/Music on the old drive.

Power on the computer and insert the DVD immediately.
Hold down the 'C' key to boot from the Snow Leopard DVD.

You'll likely need to partition and format the new drive before it's recognized.

I have lost Lightroom 5.6 due to a hard drive crash. The old hard drive has been replaced. How can I get LR5 back? I don't have a disc. I still have my LR4 disc and key. I have another adobe key, but don't know if it relates to LR5.

A friend was able to get my husband's iTunes file off the old hard drive and it's saved in the My Music folder on the new hard drive. Can someone please give me super easy to understand instructions on how I get the iTunes stuff onto the new hard drive? I don't want to mess anything up because he has such a large number of albums in the iTunes folder. Thank you in advance!

It sounds like you just have 2 formatted drives (SSD, HDD) that are not configured as a Fusion drive. If so, you have to manually move files from the SSD to the HDD and visa versa.
If your system would have come configured with a Fusion drive (SSD and HDD 'fused' together) then OS X would maintain file movement from the SSD to the HDD without user intervention.

You cannot directly deauthorize a computer that's not working or to which you no longer have access. You can authorize a total of up to five systems, so unless you've hit that limit it's probably not really important that you deauthorize your dead unit now. If you really want to deauthorize that system now, you can go into your iTunes Store account and there will be a "deauthorize all" button. You can then re-authorize the computers you're using.
Note that you can only use the "deauthorize all" option once per year, unless something's changed very recently.

If you have another drive with which to boot the computer, then you may be able to access your data and save it to a backup drive. You can purchase a new drive and install it. Take the removed old drive and put it into an external enclosure. Once you have the new drive set up you can see about accessing the old drive. Otherwise, take it to an Apple retailer for assistance.

There are data recovery companies in most major cities, the rule is that if money is no object, they will be happy to talk to you.
A typical dead hard drive recovery in the US is about $1000.
This is why backups are so important, if you're not backing up your data in AT LEAST one additional location then paying for them to recover the data is what you will have to do, after all if the data is that important, then it's worth that kind of money.

The hard drive on my computer crashed a couple of weeks ago, so I had to re-install the old OS from the CD that came with my computer almost four years ago. After dealing with all that, I decided to upgrade to OS 10.8.4 and purchased the upgrade from the app store. New internal hard drive (URGH!) and can't open iPhoto library on my ex HD

I just had to replace my first HD since buying my first Mac in 1989 so I'm starting fresh again. I have about 12 GB of photos on my backup external hard drive. I want to view them and see that they work and try to figure out if I lost any photos in my crash. My ex HD photos were stored in iPhoto 5 and I now have iPhoto 6 on my computer. I had MAJOR troubles with version 5 and I do not want to import the photos back into my computer, I want to be able to view them and work on them from my ex HD.
I have no photos on my computer's HD at this time. I cannot get my photos on my ex HD to open. When I hold down the option key while opening iPhoto, I get no prompter to allow me to select my storage photos. What am I doing wrong?
PS - I've gone into Preferences>Advanced and unselected the import photos function. Is there a way to override that for portions of my huge library on my ex HD?

Since I last posted I downloaded about 900 new photos into my computer's iPhoto program. I've been busy organizing them and didn't try opening my photos on my external HD again until tonight.
The first thing I did was transfer my new photos to the HD. I renamed the folder for the original 12 GB library on the ex HD and I gave the new photo folder another name. After that I held down the option key while opening iPhoto and I got the prompter to pick a library! Yippee! I opened my huge old library. I had to upgrade them to work on iPhoto 6, so it took some time for it to get processed. I can now see all those old photos again.
I was stuck not being able to get the prompter back again to let me see my new photos, but I just figured it out! I was holding down on the icon in my dock to open the program, which brought up the menu to Open, Show in Finder, etc. Holding down the option key did nothing. I tried holding it before I selected the iPhoto icon or after and nothing changed. What I just discovered is that I have to hold down option and then DOUBLE CLICK on the iPhoto icon and it works. Then it asks me what library I want to open.
Jeez, I think that's all I've been doing wrong all along. If not, I'll be back. Otherwise, thanks for your help.

Flash plugin crashes a lot more frequently since I updated it (the past month or so??) I have tried the latest Firefox version 3 and updated it to version 4.

I'm not sure anyone here knows more about the Java plugin than you do...
Were you starting the control panel from disk as administrator because it didn't work starting it through the Start menu (if you have Control Panel set to View by Category, the Java control panel is under "Programs").

I have IOS Version 10.6.8 and want to download pages, but it will only allow 10.9 ios only, is there anyway to get the older verson of pages downloaded? I hope someone can help me, as I am needed a program that allows Greek and Hebrew languages for docs.
