My old PC died but the hard drive is still functional and accessible using a USB extraction device. I purchased a new PC and downloaded the latest iTunes but attempts to transfer the iTunes folder with songs from the old hard drive to my new computer failed. Only 20 of approx 300 songs transferred. All other non music file transfers (WORD, EXCEL, etc) from the old hard drive to the new computer were successful. Is this a file type issue? Any thoughts?? THANKS!

I have just purchased an ipad and downloaded a few basic games, but I cannot get any sound from the games, I have checked in general settings, and in each of the app settings to make sure that the sounds are on, I have also tried deleting and reloading the game apps, but still no sounds.

i would like to know how to solve this problem without erasing what is currently on my phone.
You can transfer songs that you didn't buy from the iTunes store but it requires third party software such as Suneti. This is one of the best programs I know for the task and unfortunately I'm not aware of any freeware programs that transfer music from an iOS device to the computer.

Are you trying to connect using win7?
If so I have bad news.. it won't work. The TC only exposes AFP to internet.. not SMB. And there is no AFP add on for windows. You can only do it from a Mac.
People do open SMB to the internet on a strange port.. look it up if you want to infect your system and expose all your files to the internet.. there is no security doing this.. so I refuse to consider it an option.
The only real way from windows is to get a vpn router.. bridge the TC and use it plugged into the vpn device.. vpn into the network and you can safely use SMB.. you cannot do this directly with the TC. It might well have ipsec for icloud but you cannot access it. -
Downloaded Latest Itunes but now it does not open at all, with no error msg
I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes for my Laptop. I have recently moved my internet to my laptop so i have been updating software for the past two days.
However, when the download of Itunes is finish i can not open it. There is no error message at all, it just does not open, it just begins to load with the 'hourglass' waiting symbol and then stops. I can't open it at all.
I am runnin on Windows XP and had no previous trouble with the older version of iTunes. I am now regretting that i even updated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Claudia.I had exactl the same problem, it drove me crazy for about one week. Actually both 7.1.1 and any 6.x version didn't want to install on my PC.
7.1.1 just downloaded ok and than after running it terminated with no message and no action.
I tried almost everything: from manually removing all WinXP Registry entries to checking the entrire Win installation.
I also tried to download itunes from a different PC, but again same result.
Finally, I gave it a try to download iTunes from a different web site and... everything worked flawlessy!!
The only conclusion I came to is a possible issue between my network/firewall/ISP settings and Apple download services.. very hard to justify in real world but I can't think of anything else.
So my advice is to look for another web site hosting iTunes for donwload and give it a try!

I have just gotten my new ipad!!! I downloaded latest version of itunes but my ipad does not show in devices when I try to sync music. Any suggestions??
Does a little box come up seeing the iPad as a camera? That doesn't impact iTunes as much as it confirms that your computer sees the device. If your computer doesn't see it then iTunes doesn't know it's there.
If you're plugged into a hub or extender, try plugging it directly into the box or main part of your computer.
If you're using an extension, stop and just use the included sync cable.
Try using a different USB port.
After you installed iTunes, did you restart your computer?
Usually what's needed is the 'apple device driver' which installs automatically, you just need to sometimes trigger the install, using different ports helps with that.
If the simple trouble shooting doesn't help then you can search on the Apple Device Driver and there's more detailed trouble shooting on the site. -

HELP-New PC-d/loaded latest iT-don't know how to get library from old PC
Got myself a new computer. Downloaded the latest version of iTunes (7.6.2.9). On my old PC, I had a large music collection. I took copies of the iTunes folder in My Music and re-installed it in MyMusic on my new PC hoping that the new iTunes would pick up my library and settings but it didn't.
I'm obviously doing something wrong - I'd really appreciate some help here 'cos it's far too quiet!!Go on your old computer and go to my music/itunes then stick the file Itunes Library.xml on a disk or flash drive. Put that file on your computer and open itunes. Go to file/import then go to wherever you saved the file and your library should open. otherwise, back the other one up to discs and import it.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the thingy on the Major Geeks page):

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
Downloaded latest itunes but it is asking me to insert disk???
latest itunes is asking for a disk. I have never had a disk.
Ok well i have a solution to my own question. I was trying to install it off of the thumbdrive and all i had to do was copy the folder onto the desktop and then install it from there. worked fine!

Hello everyone, how can I partition my external hard drive supporting mac OS in one partition and windows OS in another?
OK. Start with:
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to two (2). Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Click on the Erase tab in DU's main window. Select one of the two partitions, preferably the first one, change the Format type: to MSDOS then click on the Erase button.
