My oldest photos are unable to be seen...

Hello! Since one week ago, I had a problem with iPhoto, well, I was viewing my oldest events and then suddenly the picture couldn't be seen! It appeared a Triangle with and exclamation mark inside of it besides, the ones that I can see they appeared to be more with more zoom   And the worst thing is that if I want to save them in a USB, I can not! Either the file is .PNG or the machine doesn't let me drag them to the USB carpet . I clean already my MacBookPro from virus and I tought it was the problem, but the situation stills on What should I do? Thank you!

I clean already my MacBookPro from virus
Exactly how did you do this?  Note - there are no known viruses that affect the Mac and generally antivirus software and cleaning software causes problems rather than solving them
This indicates a disconnect between the Thumbnail and the original
this can be caused by two things
1 - User action deleting items from inside the iPhoto  library - can be directly - can be from the All images list (never delete from there) - can be from running cleanup software like MacKeeer, CleanMac2  or other dangerous, defective software that improperly deletes or changes things in the iPhoto library - if you have done any of these things you must restore your backup from before you did them and damaged your iPhoto library - and I recommend getting rid of any "clean up software" ASAP (although being essentially MalWear it is not easy)
2 - corruption of the iPhoto library - If it is not #1 then Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your database

    Hi Jdentremont,
Lync client gets user photos by first querying the Address Book Web Query (ABWQ) service on the server, which is exposed through the Distribution List Expansion web service. The client receives
the image file and then copies it to the user's cache to avoid downloading the image each time it needs to be displayed. The attribute values returned from the query are also stored in the cached Address Book Service entry for the user. The Address Book Service
deletes all cached images every 24 hours, which means that it can take up to 24 hours for new user images to be updated in the cache on the server.
To troubleshoot your problem, please follow the steps below:
    1.  Navigate to
     “X:\share\1-WebServices-1\ABfiles\000000000\000000000” folder. (ABS file share)
You should see some photo files in this folder as the following screenshot.
    2. Delete all the files in this folder.
    3. On test PC, delete local cache files.
    %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\[email protected]
    4. Sign-in Lync with the test account.
    5. Go back to the ABS file share, check if there is any Photo file in the folder.
    Best regards,
    Eric

My phone has been restored using iTunes.  All of my previous photo are downloaded. I'm unable to delete the photos from the phone - no trash bin.  It has utilized all my storage and I'm unable to use any of my apps.

    Hello there, Jeanne2919.
There is a great Knowledge Base article that is right up your alley:
iOS and iPod: Syncing photos using iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
    Specifically this section:
To delete synced photos and videos
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
    Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
    Click Apply.
To delete Camera Roll photos and videos
There are two methods to delete items from the Camera Roll:
Import the Camera Roll to your computer, choosing to delete items after import.
    or
Delete photos and videos from your device manually. Open the Photos application, open the Camera Roll, tap the Action button, tap each photo to select it, and tap the Delete button.
Note: For photos and videos you want to save for later, import them to your computer before deleting them from the Camera Roll.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,
    Pedro D.

  • Users are unable to see their own profile photo although everyone else can see it in Lync 2013 client

We have Lync 2013, Exchange 2010 and several AD
    servers in mixed mode 2003/2008.
All user are unable to see their own profile photo
either in the main Lync window, in the settings or in a chat although other user can see that their photo is there and displaying. The user experiencing the issue can go open Outlook 2013 client and will see their photo displaying correctly in the file menu
    (and elsewhere) here.
I have confirmed this happens with any new users I set up as well. We have gone through a fair amount of troubleshooting with other Lync photo issues and simple fixes such as deleting the SIP cache folder etc proves to be ineffective.
Our Cs-ClientPolicy Global is set to websearchonly.
We have "Replicate this attribute to the Global Catalog" set
for the ThumbnailPhoto attribute in AD.
We are also forcing photos from AD only (or no photo) by setting the following:
    "Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity PhotosControl -DisplayPhoto
    PhotosFromADOnly"
and finally we are importing the photo in ad using this PS command:
    "Import-RecipientDataProperty -Identity "Test User"
-Picture -FileData ([Byte[]]$(Get-Content -Path "C:\pictures\testuser.jpg" -Encoding Byte -ReadCount 0))"
The pictures being uploaded are under 10KB in size.
I have followed many threads and will provide any information I can to help find the problem. Thank you in advance.
EDIT: I have also tried the following but with no success: https://knowledge.zomers.eu/misc/Pages/How-to-fix-your-photo-not-showing-up-in-the-Lync-client.aspx

  • Some of my earliest photos are not showing on my phone after updating to iOS7. They can be seen in the app "over" which allows for art and lettering to be placed on a photo but I can not find an album for photos before 2012.

Some of my earliest photos are not showing on my phone5 after updating to iOS7. They can be seen in the app "over" which allows for art and lettering to be placed on a photo but I cannot find an album or year for photos before 2012 (in the photo app). The iphone says the photo content is there when I check in "about" under general in settings. So the pictures seem to be somewhere but I just can't access from from the photo app. Any suggestions. I also know that they were there before the iOS7 upgrade as I was looking for a pre 2012 picture last week and it we there.

  • When I email photos from iphoto(9.2.2) the recipients are unable to open the jpegs - why?

When I email photos from iphoto (9.2.2) the recepients are unable to open the files, and command I tells me they are locked-
How and where do I unlock them?

You can't unlock files on their machines.
iPhoto sends HTML emails and not every email application (or user) knows how to work with these.
Send Plain text emails via Mail instead. That's pretty foolproof.

  • Photos from iPhone 4S are unable to rotate after copied on PC...

If I try to rotate photos ported from my iPhone 4S onto my Win 7 64x laptop I am unable to rotate them.
This is the error message I receive:
"Windows Photo Viewer can't save the changes to this picture because there's a problem with the picture's file propertie."
Weird part is that some of them I am able to rotate using the same program (photos are in the same folder)
I am an admin on my computer, I have full rights on the folder I am copying the photos into.
I tried porting in the photos by simply Copy / Paste from the "Internal Storage" folder that opens up as soon as I connect the iPhone and by using the "Import Media" option that come up when iPhone is connected > no dice!
I tried opening the photos with Windows Photo Viewer, PictureViewer, Paint > no dice!
I have no problemas with the photos from iPhone 3GS or any other type of media, just with the iPhone 4S that is currently up to date.
Does anybody have a fix for this?

Just used  SteelBytes software to resolve the issue of not being able to save rotated images in Windows (1500 x iPhone 4S pics took 3 seconds). The tiny (83kb) program just strips all non-essential metadata from images, so all you retain is the picture, picture properties and optionally the date/time taken.  I can confirm this resolves all problems with rotating pics using Windows-based software without touching the actual photo in any way.
I used this to modify my working/viewing copy of the kids photos, as there are so many they are stored in folders by month/year, and Apple numbers the files in order for sorting purposes (but again, date/time taken can be retained if you like). That said, I have kept the original images as my backup copy as a fix will eventually be developed for this.
The free-ware from Steel Bytes has no advertising or malware onboard (as at today anyway). Link is at bottom, but just in case Apple Forums don't allow that - go to steelbytes.com > Freeware > Misc > JPEG & PNG Stripper > Download > English > USA (regardless of country) > Save As..  Then open your download folder and double click on the file (depends on what software you are running as to the next steps). Once installed and running (just a little command line window), grab a folder or file (IMPORTANT: Ensure the original files are saved/copied somewhere else) and drag it into the little window. That's it, the files have been changed and can now be edited.
    Good Luck !

  • My photos are stuck in the editing view

All of my photos are stuck in the editing view and I am unable to return to thumbnail view.  I can move to different "events" and photos, but they are all in the editing view.  When I select view and then go to thumbnails, the options are unavailable.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

I probably didn't explain the problem clearly.
When I open an event I would like to see the collection of photos, in thumbnail version.  Since last night, the photos are in the large view - one photo at a time.  I have to scroll through them to find the photo I want.  This is the case in all of my events and albums.
When I go to the view tab and click on thumbnails, the options are unavailable - they are there, but are light grey and they aren't accessible when I click on them.
When I refered to my photos being stuck in the editing view, I should have said they are stuck in the large view, showing one photo at a time only.

  • My latest photos are missing, however they are not uploading into the PhotoStream.. (very slowly), they are not in the last import or in events... where are they ?

I uploaded around 200 photos into iphoto, I worked on these photos breifly, cropping and deleting some, then iphoto crashed.. and when I relaunched it the photos were missing from both the events section and the last import showed nothing.  I also looked in the Trash for the deleted photos, and that was empty too..
Now the photos are reappearing in PhotoSteam, all be it very slowly... I cant seem to find the orginals anywhere... I have tried to reoganise the events by ascending and descending to see if they are hiding... but I am unable to see any evidence of them.
Can anyone help.  My computer is about 1 week old, however I did take all the photos from my Mac Notebook, which I think has taken some dodge

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Where can i see what photos are stored on icloud

Hi i have lost some photo's from my computers hard drive!!!! arrrgh! the photo's were taken with my old iphone and orginally shared on my icloud account! How can i see what my icloud is storing????
    HELP PLEASE!!!!

Photo stream photos can only been seen on devices connected to your photo stream, not on icloud.com.  Also, be aware that photos are only kept in photo stream for 30 days.  After that they are removed from photo stream but will remain on any device that has already received them.  In other words, if the photos you are looking for are older than 30 days they won't be in photo stream any longer.  They would only be in the photo stream album of a device that has already received these older photos from photo stream.
The only other place iCloud stores photos is in a device backup.  If your old phone was backed up to iCloud and if the backup is still in iCloud, the backup should contain the photos.  However, the ony way to acces them would be to restore a device to the entire backup, including all its data, not just the photos.
Finally, if you backed up your old phone to your computer by syncing it with iTunes, this backup would also include camera roll photos.  If the backup is on your computer you can use 3rd party software such as iPhone Backup Extractor to extract the photos from this backup and avoid having to restore the entire backup to another device to access them.

  • Camera roll photos are grey

My camera roll is showing a lot of blank grey photos. Every time that I sync my phone to iPhoto, and I delete the photos from the camera roll using iPhoto, it leaves behind one of these grey boxes. The only photos that actually show, as seen in this screen shot, are photos that I have not yet synced to iPhoto. As soon as I sync them to iPhoto and delete them, they will turn to grey boxes. I have tried restarting my phone, but it doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?

    Hi
I had exactly the same proble and did the same tests.
Did you try this to fix the issue :
Delete following files in photodata directory (use with caution)
    com.apple.photos.caches_metadata.plist
    Photos.sqlite
    PhotosAux.sqlite
    (seen on : http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/how-to/how-to-fix-iphone-camera-roll-crash-and-phot os-turned-to-other-in-itunes/)
I used ifunbox to do this and it worked fine for me after many other attemps (resync, restore, reset ...)

  • I have several users who have updated to the new iOS 5 and now are unable to get to the apple store

I have several users with ipads who have updated to the new iOS5 and are now unable to access the itunes store.  It loads about half way and then nothing.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

Photo stream only keeps your photos for 30 days.  After that, they are removed from your photo stream but not from any device that has already received them.  Chances are, the 44 photos are from the last 30 days; the others are not there because they are no longer in your photo stream.
If the photos were in your camera roll when you last backed up, restoring to the backup should recover them.  However, you will have to restore to the entire backup to do so.  If they weren't backed up or imported to your computer, there is no way to recover them now.
To be sure your photos are saved, regularly import them from the camera roll to your computer as outlined here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

  • Import photos are out of order

I hope I can explain this so it makes sense.  I am trying to import photos from a compact flash card.  When they come into Lightroom they are out of order.  I have tried sorting them by all the different means in the drop down but still are not correct.  I notice that for some reason some of the photos show incorrect dates and that seems to be what is affecting the import.  Lightroom is putting the photos from the oldest date first.  I was able to load the pictures into a folder on the desktop and they are in the correct order just using the camera file names.  When I tried to load them from that folder into Lightroom, they went back to the incorrect order.  Is there a way to import without the metadata?  Is that what is fouling this up?  I don't know where these weird dates have come from but they are there and I can't get rid of them.
I am running Lightroom on an imac with OS 10.4.11 and this is the first I have run into this problem.  These photos are from an older camera, a Nikon Coolpix 885 and are my son's photos.  I normally import from my Canon camera using a compact flash with a reader  and have never had such a problem.  Here I am talking up Lightroom to my son about how easy it is to get the photos in and organize them and he is not buying it at this point.  Hopefully this makes sense and someone knows what is going on.
    Thanks

The date information is taken from the camera which writes it to the file. This needs to be set to the correct date and time in the camera itself.
The order the images are shown in the Library mode is set by clicking on the sort button in the tool bar, which if not showing can be activated from view, tool bar. There are different sort orders that can be applied including sorting by file name. You can also sort by dragging the images to the order you wish them to appear in by selecting user order.
