My on going LR4 wish list

At my present job I use Lightroom the vast majority of the day.
My catalog has 463525 photos since creating a new cat March 1 of 08.
I have a great need to get my images out fast. Within minutes of shooting a job or find a photo fast.  So I have kept a list of things I personally would like to see added to lightroom and I update it each time I think of something new. So here we go!
Lightroom 4 Suggestions
1) Ability to move an Adjustment Brushes selection to the next photo. With a Keyboard shortcut to open selection in next frame then you could move the selection.
2) Make the LR catalog Networkable Multi users or at least have the ability to put the catalog on a network (then you could have two people work on the catalog separately while not at the same but another user could).
3) Overlay or watermark with the file name on the image. Good for Contact sheets with the name on the image the contact images could be bigger and fill out the whole page with images).
4) Make subfolders of presets The ability to put a folder in a folder in the presets list develop module
5) Ability to  download 2 card readers as  the same time.
6) Why doesn't  a watch folder watch the same folder. Why does it have to move the file to a new folder.
7)   “G Blur brush “ How about a Gaussian Blur brush in the adjustments Brushes.
Everyones favourite Blur in Photoshop in  Lightroom too.
8) With the adjustment Brush in color Sample color would be Great.
This way you could Darken or Light a area in in you Photo. As it stand you Guess the color .
9). Make the folders in the Library Mode available in different sizes. When creating collections it would be easier to to move photo from there folder to a collection if the folder were bigger.
10) When you control click to “Go to Folder in Library” the side panel should scroll to the folder it is trying to show.
11) Contact sheets and prints Lr should  render  & print each contact then repeat. This way you don’t have to select each Contact sheets individually. to get the printer going.
12) Show a preview of what is effected in the develop preset.  When you right click on a preset you can not see what is effected in the preset only you last clicked.
13) I wish Adobe would put the flag value in XMP then News Wire could read the flag.  Like photo mechanic .
14) If you copy a White Balance shot as “As Shot” it will copy “As Shot” not the actual White Balance. you can change the the white balance to custom and not move the white Balance then it will copy the Actual white Balance. But this is just one more step slowing me down by using the mouse. The copy and Paste feature copy's the preset not the actual White balace.
15)  Export ot Smart Objects photoshop file
16)  Print to CMYK printer. Like My Zerox printer
17)  Lr Needs to speed up there why does LR take so long to render images as in comparence to other Digital asset management programs (like photo mechanic).
18) “Crop preset”: particularly usefully when cropping fisheye lenses
19) Add Fill light  and Noise control to Adjustment Brushes (good for lighting up shadows is that not what Adjustment Brushes  are for)

7)  -51 to -100 on the shapen tool in local adjustments is like lens blur, and you can stack pins for a more powerful effect if needed.
Still not the same a a Gblur
8)  Click in the color picker and drag onto the image to get the color picker.
Thanks I have to check this one out
12)  Just pass the mouse over the preset and the Navigator will change to preview that preset.
I meen that by seeing what is check or saved in the preset.
13)  There's a problem with that.  Flags are local.  If you have the same picture in two collections, and the flag is picked in one and rejected in the other, which would you write out?       So I am not alone with that most other DAM programs are consistent with there flags

  • Kelby's wish list for LR4 ...

Scott Kelby posted his wish list for LRv4 on his blog today pointing out features, adjustments and tweaks he would like to see in the next iteration of Lightroom ....
    http://www.scottkelby.com/blog/2010/archives/11824
Is he on target? Are his suggestions worthy, important and doable?
I must say I wouldn't be disappointed with his vision of what LR4 would be capable of ....

Personally, I'm on a pretty different page.
I could care less about Lightroom's slideshow capability - because I don't use it (I use 3rd party presentation tools after exporting from Lr).
I could care less about Lightroom's photobooks - because if I did use photobooks, I could do it in Aperture or some other 3rd party software.
I could care less about soft-proofing because I don't use it, and if I did, I could always pull the photos into another app that does support soft-proofing.
... I could go on, but my point is that anything that can easily be done at the endpoints of the workflow with another tool is less of a concern to me than the things I do day in and day out, which is Library + Develop, especially Develop.
And Adobe still has some serious image quality matters to address, e.g. Highlight recovery.
I would agree with Scott on these points:
    - Networked catalog support (although I don't have need, I understand other peoples need for this).
    - Soft-proofing: this is not a contradiction - I acknowlege other peoples strong desire/need for this.
Other stuff I don't use but would imagine becoming big:
    - GPS/Location support.
    My wishlist:
    - Finish what they started being #1 image-quality-wise
        - especially highlight recovery
        - and other hue shift anomalies.
    - Finish what they started being #1 performance-wise (read: get the bugs out so the performance for "all" of us matches the performance for the lucky ones).
    - Add better color handling and/or adjustment capability.
    - Better auto-tone and Active-D-Lighting-like support (fill-light + clarity goes pretty far now, and jjust fixing highlight recovery would be a huge step in the right direction here).
        - Fix 'Clarity' so that one can down-throttle its affect on "already high-contrast" edges.
    - targeted adjustments (based on luminance, color, ..., e.g. U-points only better)
        - includes making the auto-mask work better.
    - all adjustments available locally.
    - Separate channel levels and curves.
    - distraction removal brush (e.g. content-aware fill).
    - Support for image enhancement via plugin. - once pixel manipulation is integrated with parametric editing (see my #1 wish below) - this will be a fallout - I don't care too much whether image manipulation tools plug into photoshop or lightroom, as long as they are readily accessible in Lightroom without forking a separate photo.
    - Full-screen editing with develop panels + library panels simultaneously open on secondary monitor.
    - Full access to Lightroom UI via SDK (plugin) - including event notification and having things in the panels.
AND MY #1 WISH FOR LIGHTROOM 4:
    - 100% integration with Photoshop and/or other 3rd party pixel editors and plugins - this would include the ability to have multiple shots be considered sub-shots of an HDR image. - If this were done, it would lessen many of the needs for natively supporting things like separate channel levels and curves and all adjustments local. To reiterate: the main goal is to be able to do things presently relegated to pixel editors without forking a new photo, even if internally its handled as a fork - I don't want to have to manage an additional independent photo entity just to remove a twig.
I'm sure there's more, but I gotta go dance...

  • CS5.5 Gripes/CS6 Wish List (from the perspective of an FCP switcher)

I have been a Final Cut Pro user for more than 10 years (starting with version 1.2 on a 500 MHz G4).  Final Cut Pro X is a disaster, but that’s a well-covered topic for a different forum.  After experimenting with Premiere Pro CS5.5 for a few months, I am ready to make the switch for all of my future projects.
I make a living editing video.  I don’t, however, work for a big company, and I don’t have a lot of money to spend on third-party software or hardware.  Much of my work is shot on DSLRs and delivered online.  That may put me in the category of “pro-sumer” to some, but I wouldn’t be making the switch if I didn’t require a more professional alternative to FCPX to do my job.
I also don’t think “pro” has to be synonymous with clunky and ugly.  (I’m looking at you, Avid.)  When Final Cut was young, it was fun, intuitive, and sturdy.  It became a robust, professional NLE over time.  I think Premiere Pro is on that path now.
I like the look, the feel, and the functionality of CS5.5.  It’s not quite Apple-slick, but it’s very much at home on a Mac.  Overall, it’s an upgrade to FCP7 and a very strong alternative to FCPX.  I have high hopes for CS6.
But this is not a comprehensive review.  It is just a list of negatives:  my gripes, wishes, and personal preferences.  My list of positives would be much longer, but my concern right now is with CS6 and the improvements that I hope it delivers.  As I am new to Premiere, it's quite possible that I am mistaken about certain functionalities or lack thereof, but I thoroughly researched each point in the help docs and forums before posting this.
My primary system is a 3.2 GHz iMac 21” (2010) with 8 GB RAM, 512MB VRAM (ATI Radeon HD), running Mac OS X 10.7 with external Firewire 800 drives and a DisplayPort-to-HDMI external display.
    MAJOR ISSUES
Hardware acceleration support for ATI GPUs
There are rumors that Apple will be switching back to nVidia, but all recent iMacs have ATI and only ATI cards.
Background rendering (or at least improved rendering options)
Background rendering is probably FCPX’s most impressive feature and Adobe needs to catch up.  However, even if true background rending can’t be achieved, there should be an auto-render option (after a set idle time), partial rendering (if you cancel a render, keep everything that has been rendered up until that point), and more render options (e.g. render all and render selected). Regarding that last point, I think the whole work area concept should be dropped.  It makes sense for other apps, particularly for animation, but it just gets in the way of more important timeline functions while offering little functionality beyond being a clumsy way to control the area to be rendered.  At the very least, have a way to hide it.
    Full-screen preview
Maximizing the program frame just isn’t the same (although the grave accent key function may be reason enough to switch to Premiere).  Full-screen preview isn’t just a nifty function for demo-ing sequences.  It’s a big part of the way I work.
    DisplayPort/Thunderbolt out to HDMI
It may be that a third-party card is required for proper color correction on an external display, but there’s no reason this feature shouldn’t exist.
    Thumbnail images/show frames bug
This one drives me crazy. I’ve tested this on 3 different Mac systems with various hardware configurations. Thumbnail images in the bins and frame images in the timeline seem to be recreated every time a project is opened, even though the thumbnail image files in the media cache folder don’t actually appear to get rewritten. It’s as if there is no cache at all (even for the most recently viewed bins and timelines segments).  It can’t be an intentional functionality for saving hard drive space because the cache files continue to take up more and more space.
    Open multiple projects simultaneously
I know that you can cut and paste between projects but being able to open multiple projects at the same time is a very useful feature of FCP7.
    Magic Mouse/Magic Trackpad scrolling
Premiere Pro is a cross-platform system and impressively so, but there need to be a few Mac-specific interface adjustments, the most important of which is support for the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad scrolling.  I use a Magic Mouse.  (It’s an irritating device sometimes, but once you get used to it, it’s hard to live without it.)  When I’m in a window, I expect a flick up or down to scroll up or down -- in every situation, every time, including the timeline.  Unless I stop using all other Mac apps, I will never get accustomed to the timeline suddenly flying left or right when I want to scroll up or down. Also, here’s a chance for Adobe to fix a problem that FCP7 shared:  When you scroll up or down in the effect control window using the mouse, the drop-down effect controls sometimes twirl all over the place if the mouse happens to float over them. As it is, it very easy to throw settings into random disarray without even realizing it just by scrolling through the pane.
The timeline:  selection indication, icons, and general improvements
It is very difficult to discern at a glance what, if anything, is selected in the timeline. Transitions always look selected!  Audio tracks should be a different color or otherwise more distinct. There should be an option to show frames only without any text. The icons for track options are small, crowded, and ugly.  Some of the editing icons are too similar, namely edit and ripple edit, although the excellent status bar at the bottom of the application goes a long way towards making up for this.  Simply put, the timeline could use some polish.  Don’t be afraid to steal from Apple on this one.  Keep the tracks; just make it easier on the eyes!
    Conforming audio
The ability of CS5.5 to work natively with DSLR footage is awesome, but it’s not fully DSLR native if it has to pre-render a major component of the footage before it can play, even if it’s just the audio.
    Media loading
When launching a project, it can take a long time for all the media in the project to “load” as tracked in the status bar.  I’m sure there’s a reason for this, but since the program is able to determine which source media files are missing before this step (and gives you the option to reconnect them), what is it doing and why must it load every clip in the project, even those not in use by any sequences?
Page up/page down and arrow key commands
For starters, the current page up/page down key functions should take the CTI to the next cut in the sequence, not the next cut in the track that happens to be targeted, which can be way down timeline.  In FCP7, I frequently navigated cut to cut with the up and down arrow keys.  I’ve avoided customizing the keyboard commands to match FCP7 --  I would rather endure some hardship and learn the proper Adobe commands -- but this one is flat-out backwards.  The page up/down keys should page through the timeline (left to right and right to left), while the up and down arrow keys should take over the clip to clip function (assuming the targeted track issue is fixed).  Currently, the down arrow takes you to the very end of the timeline, a function already duplicated by and better suited for the “end” key.
    Bin management and clip relationships
Deleting an item from a bin should not delete it from the timeline, but this is part of a bigger problem, which is the whole master file versus instance versus subclip versus dup clip thing. There aren’t any good indicators regarding the relationships of these clips, and there are few ways to adjust them.  If clips are going to be connected, then they should be fully connected.  For instance, changing the name of a clip in the bin should change it in the timeline.  Adding an effect or trimming should affect the corresponding clips between bin and timeline.  Otherwise, the clips should just be completely separate instances.  I haven’t been able to find an option to turn a clip into an independent instance, although I have to think it exists.  Also, editing an instance of a title does change every other instance of that title throughout the sequence.  I would prefer to be able to edit them separately without having to duplicate them in the title editor.
    Bin effects
Related to the above, it should be possible to add effects to clips in bins or keep effects on clips added to bin from timeline.  It would also be nice to be able to group effects together in bins for a specific project.  The effects window is better suited for global collections.
Clearer visual indicators that a clip has been adjusted in the effect controls panel
Even with the effects panel visible, you have to take a close look to see if there have been any adjustments to the standard settings. An indicator on the clip in the timeline itself would be useful.
    Snapping should include the CTI
It should also include the blade tool, although the Cmd-K option to cut at the CTI position does make this less of an issue.
    Smoother scrubbing
Scrubbing is pretty awful.  While this is understandable with native footage, FCPX somehow manages to make this silky smooth at full resolution.
Color correction shape mask and better color correction in general
Simplify the primary functions of the 3-way color correction effect.  Keep all the rarely used adjustments out of the way.  I use Magic Bullet for some purpose, but I’ve always done most of my color correction within FCP.  Put the most common adjustments front and center (or up top, as it may be).  The highlights/mid-tone/shadows drop-down is inconsistent in what controls it pertains to.
FCPX’s color correction is actually one of its more underrated features.  The way it allows you to layer corrections is dead-simple yet as powerful as anything in FCP7 or Premiere.  Stick with the 3 wheels, but rely less on hard to control tonal ranges and add simple keyframe-able shape masks for secondary color correction.
Better support for shared media access
AVID is king in this arena and Adobe needs to improve.  It should be possible for multiple editors to safely work on the same project files and share media over a server.
    MINOR ISSUES
More vertically compact playback/edit control area in source and program panes
Make room for either a taller timeline or bigger previews.  The virtual scrubber and shuttle controls are the nifty things you drag with the mouse the first time you ever use an NLE and never touch again.
    Larger icons in icon view
Remember size and position of bin windows
    Playback resolution setting indicator
There should be an always-visible indicator of the playback res setting in the preview pane that’s easy to adjust without right-clicking.
Better markers for sequences and clips
Include colors and more keyboard shortcut control.
    Clip sliding with keyboard commands
“Opt-,” (that’s Option-comma) should cause a clip collision, not overwrite.  Either that, or “,” and “.” should slide, while “Opt-,” should overwrite.  Opt-arrow should only extend an adjoining clip if in the middle of two clips.  Basically, this whole arrangement should be re-thought.
    Project browser should auto refresh/sort.
Option-drag on a Mac should always be copy, not move.
Copy is currently command-drag in the project browser.
Stop auto-save from interrupting adjustments in timeline.
Ideally, the auto-save should just be a background function, but it should at least wait until you’re not in the middle of dragging something.
Add ability to select a cut directly and add default transition.
    CTI control
If you move the CTI while it’s in play mode, it should continue to play from that spot after you release the mouse, not stop there.
Show number of frames being adjusted during keyframe adjustments.
    Enable/disable specific effect parameters/keyframes.
Clearing an effect should clear keyframes as well.
Or have an option to clear both.
    Position controls
There should be a preference to make the default position 0.0 x 0.0 (as opposed to 50% of whatever the resolution happens to be), and include a reset button.
    Through-edit indicator in timeline
And a quick way to join clips, such as a right-click menu option.
    Border controls for images
Auto save location preference and functionality
In FCP7 I set the number of auto saves to keep to the maximum of 100 and Premiere can go even higher.  I have always used this feature as an additional backup and archive system, which has come in very handy.  Those files add up, however.  So, I prefer to auto-save to an external drive.  Also, auto saves in Premiere continue to occur whenever there are unsaved changes.  This means that if you make a small adjustment and then leave Premiere for a while, it will keep auto saving the same iteration, which is not only inefficient but leads to my next point….
Tame the bouncing dock icon on auto save
While using other apps, there’s no need for the dock icon to bounce every time Premiere performs an auto save.
    More/clearer control over cache locations
There should also be an option to reset the cache/render file locations to their defaults.
    Export source range
When exporting, remember the last-used setting of the export source range (or just dump the whole work area thing as I previously suggested).  It’s too easy to cut off a portion of the video when the export defaults back to the work area every time.
    Larger timecode display
After spending hours and hours editing, the current timecode for clips and sequences is something you want to be able to track without squinting.  Use the letters h,m,s and f instead of colons.
    Simple slug
Creating a black matte works okay, but it involves a few extra steps.
    Snapping toggle
FCP allows you to quickly toggle snapping while dragging a clip.  Upon releasing the clip, the snap toggle returns to its original state.  Premiere could use this fucntion, but I suggest something simpler.  Holding down the “S” key should always turn snapping on regardless of toggle state, while releasing it returns it to however it was set before.
Ability to dock the audio meters along top
I like to give my timeline as much horizontal space as possible.  I’ve noticed a lot of users keep the toolbar up there, myself included.  I think it would be a good place horizontally aligned audio meters as well.
More detailed tool tips or hover explanations in preferences
For example:  The options regarding XMP data should make it clear that the original files will be modified by Premiere.  This caused me problems in other applications.  (After researching these settings, I understand that various Adobe applications use this information to share resources, but it’s still very unclear what the specific benefits are or what functions are lost without this option.)
    More detailed support documents
The online support documents on the Adobe site very good.  They are nicely arranged and easy to search, but they could be more detailed and offer fuller explanations.  (Peruse the support forums and you will discover all kinds of debates that could have been easily cleared up with one concise line in a help document.)
    Icons and button design
Icons and buttons are often too small, too similar, and too crowded throughout the interface.  Take some style tips from Apple on this one.
    NEW FEATURE WISH LIST
Footage auto-analysis:  shot recognition, color correction, and color match
If only Apple had just added these features and others to the FCP7 framework.  Adobe can do it better though, by using smart folders in addition to the traditional bins that we know and trust (anything besides those dreadful iMovie-style “events”).
    Effect previews
In the 64-bit era, there has to be a quicker way to preview effects.
Ability to render in alternate formats
Namely ProRes or DNxHD.  This would save me considerable time on exports by allowing me to select the “use preview files” option.
    PluralEyes functionality
Okay, I suppose I should just purchase PluralEyes...again.
    Many, many more effects!
How about starting with the missing vignette effect?  Just because an app is “pro” doesn’t mean you should have to custom build every effect.
    Many, many more looks!
Will most of them be cheesy looks I would never touch?  Sure...but give me some templates to play with before I tweak the look down to my exact specifications.
    More speed!
FCPX, for all its flaws, blazes on any modern Mac.  This probably comes back to hardware acceleration, but while Premiere Pro on a Mac isn’t slow, it doesn’t blow you away.

You hit the nail on the head, Peter.
I recently started giving Premiere Pro CS5 a try, and was shocked by the amount of bugs and usability issues. I'm not even going as deep as you in the features, but the most glaring evidence of the lousy interface is that timecode offset bubble that appears everytime you move a clip in the timeline... the bugger appears just under your mouse pointer and won't go away, so if you try to just move a clip down a track quickly, and let go of the button ONTO the bubble, it acts as an obstacle and your drag/drop fails ! seriously, Adobe... don't tell me nobody has stumbled upon this one during beta-testing ?
Ditto on the autosave that basicly interrupts anything you're doing. No background saving in 2011 ? At first it bothered me to no end so I disabled the autosave. And then a few hours later, Premiere crashed, and didn't even try to recover my work. I lost 2 hours of intricate work. I put autosave back on, and learned to endure the constant, annoying save dialog. And it's not like the save process is instant... even the simplest of projects takes 5 to 10 seconds to save... on an SSD... come on... let me work already...
Of course, a headache-inducing implementation wouldn't be complete if the autosave didn't trigger even 30 seconds after a manual save. If I choose an interval of 5 minutes, just autosave 5 minutes after a manual save !
In thumbnail view, you can reorder the clips manually. It's all fine, but you can't reorder them by name or date or length, unless you switch to list view and of course, lose the thumbnails.
Dragging and dropping a clip in thumbnail view is a chore, because the palette doesn't scroll when the mouse reaches the edge. You know, when you want to move something at the top all the way to the bottom... so you have to drag, let go, scroll one screen, drag, let go, scroll one screen... it's a joke. Even the timeline can do it. Heck, it's a software standard, nowadays.
Renaming a clip and pressing ENTER takes you back to... the top of the folder !?! How many times I've renamed files that were at the end of the thumbnail view, and for each clip, I had to scroll back down. Time waster.
Want to locate a clip from the timeline, in the project ? the locate function takes you to the folder. But not to the file, you have to navigate towards it manually.
Ditto on the up/down arrows. I haven't found a way to jump from cut to cut like in FCP7. How often do I need to jump to the starting/ending points ? much less often than jumping to a nearby cut.
How come I can't reorder filters in the effects pane ? sorry, I can actually reorder the filters... provided I take them from the bottom and move them up. Moving effects down doesn't work. It's driving me crazy.
Conforming happens more or less anytime. Without reason. And even if the Media Cache is already full of conformed files.
When moving the boundaries of the work area, no timecode/offset appears. You need to let go of the button and THEN hover, then you'll know the exact time/duration.
Try scrolling up in the timeline, it scrolls to the left (which is stupid, it should scroll up). Now scroll up on the tabs of a palette : they scroll to the right !?!
Can't select an active track. Direct consequence : copy-pasting a clip overlaps anything that's on track 1. Say I want to duplicate clips on the same track... I can't do it.
Copy-pasting between projects doesn't keep the transitions, only the order of the clips.
Have you tried doing a frame freeze on a reversed clip and setting proper in/out points for the freeze ? Good luck.
"Duplicate" command, when you right click on a thumbnail, is way too far from the cut/copy/paste commands at the top, even though they're quite related.
The other day I transcoded footage with different audio parameters. Just the audio had changed. Upon opening the project, Premiere wanted me to locate the files, which I did. And it failed miserably. Instead, I opened the project ignoring the missing files, and then re-linked them. I pointed Premiere at the first missing file, and had to confirm the replacement. Premiere saw all the other missing files in that folder, and began prompting me FOR EACH SINGLE FILE !!! two hundred and forty three of them, precisely. Can't I have a "yes to all" button in 2012 ? and why does the relinking work inside the project and not when you open a project ?
That was just from 3 days with Premiere Pro CS5. I still can't believe it. Just to think people bashed Final Cut Pro X, praising Premiere in comparison... Sorry, but they both have serious issues. And Premiere doesn't even have the excuse of novelty.

  • ITunes Store Apps (etc) Page Numbers, Wish List For My iTunes Account

Why doesn't the iTunes Store have page numbers under each page of the items (songs, e-books, apps, etc), because with over 200000 apps I will be damned if I am going to go back to the start of each apps category (for example) clicking in increments of 12 apps at a time until I get to app number 7264!!!!!! I WILL JUST STOP USING THE APPS STORE!!!
Some apps have a PRODUCTIVITY button in the left top corner that will take you back to the last apps browsing page you were on, while other apps have a BACK button in the top left corner WHICH TAKES YOU RIGHT BACK TO THE FIRST PAGE OF THE APPS CATEGORY YOU WERE BROWSING, so if you were up to app 734 (for example) you have to click through 64 apps pages JUST TO GET BACK TO THE APP YOU WERE UP TO LAST!!! INFURIATING - BEGGARS BELIEF!?!
WHY CANT I CLICK AN 'ADD TO WISH LIST' BUTTON ON EACH APP PAGE, SO I ALSO DONT HAVE TO BROWSE THROUGH ANOTHER 100 PAGES OF APPS TO FIND THE ONE I LOOKED AT IN MY LAST ISTORE SESSION??????
Hasn't anyone at apple used eBay or amazon???

Update: As of this morning the updates were GONE again, so I'm thinking this may recur on and off until all settles after the launch of new software and iDevices this week.

  • What happened to my iTunes wish list in 12.0.1.26????

I used to have many songs and albums in my wish list. Just upgraded to iTunes 12.0.1.26 tonight on my iMac. I guess this is a Yosemite precursor but I am still on Mavericks.
Now there appears only about 32 songs and I am not sure how many albums but just a few. The rest of my wish list (and that is an awful lot) seems to be missing. I can't seem to figure how to show only songs or only albums in the new wish list as in the old iTunes. What the heck is going on? Did Apple just jettison my wish list with this upgrade? Not good.
I am sure (or at least hoping) that I am not familiar with how to navigate this new version of iTunes. I can get to the wish list, it just is missing the vast majority of what I had before the upgrade. That would truly suck if that list is now gone.

Yosemite 10.10.1 beta <-- That for Apple devices, right? I'm not using Apple products, just a normal laptop. Apple products have way too many limitations, and too few degrees of free choice, for my taste, plus they behave like the police or Big Brother in many ways, adding restrictions to what I can and cannot do with the stuff I buy. I only use iTunes because there isn't any great alternative, really, when it comes to the amount of tracks I can choose from.
Love places like Beatport, Bandcamp or 7digital though, super sad that they offer such a small selection...

  • Why cant i purchase my whole wish list....im being told i have to buy each song one at a time

i had the option in july to purchase the whole wish list, now im being told i cant

I have just had the same problem and have spent a good hour trying to figure out where the Purchase Wish List Button has gone. I had an online CHAT with one of the nice Support Desk staff - who didn't know the answer and had to get clarification from her Supervisor.
I couldn't believe it frankly when she told me that they had INTENTIONALLY removed that facility!! OMG! That's ridiculous.
I have likened it to going to a Supermarket and doing a monthly shop - putting all the items on a conveyor belt and then having to pay for every one individually. It's absurd.
I have written to the Feedback Desk and suggested strongly that they change this back asap or else they will lose me as a customer (not that seems much of a threat to a $multi billion company!)
I have also suggested that they take a leaf out of AMAZON's Book and have a proper Checkout facility where you can put individual items into a Basket and go to checkout - and once at checkout you can either purchase everything or remove some items by flagging them Save For Later. They remain in a sort of holding basket where you can quite simply have the option of putting them back into your Basket at a future date. Amazon also have a Wish List Facility which is separate to the Basket Checkout - so they are - it seems - far in advance of iTunes.
Perhaps you could write to the iTunes Feedback Team and suggest the same ? It seems that the more they get requests for certain features the more they listen.
I have advised them that I shall be buying my MP3 music files from Amazon if they don't improve the Checkout options. Suggesting that I buy 40+ songs individually is just plain ludicrous .... and I thought Apple were a leading technology ?!
Please add your comments to the Feedback so we as Customers can get them to see sense ..... and if anybody else is reading this because they've experienced the same problem as we have ..... please put your comments on the Feedback too.
I am refusing to purchase my 25songs and albums until they rectify it. Their loss more than mine.

  • Shopping Cart/Wish List

I have been a long time iTunes store shopper, and traditionally I've always looked forward to the updates, but one of the changes in the most recent version really irks me. I absolutely cannot stand the new wish list feature. In my opinion, it's a buggier, worse version of the shopping cart, and I seriously wish they would just bring the old one back.
But, since that probably isn't going to happen, I have some questions in hopes of making the new "feature" a little easier to deal with:
    1) Is there any way to make the wish list sort by genre? It used to be really nice with the shopping cart when I could sort through whatever music I had in it by the kind of music I was in the mood for. This is one of many features which, as far as I can tell, is gone.
    2) Is there any way to make it so the wish-list page doesn't reset each time you buy a song? Every time I buy a song, the page refreshes back to the top of the page with all my previous sorting set back to default. This is HIGHLY annoying when I want to buy more than one song, and I have to re-search for the next one after buying the first.
    3) Is there any way to see all your wish-list music on one page rather than having to sort through the 4-5 pages I currently have?
I really appreciate what Apple was trying to do with the Wish List, but unless I'm missing something, they took out more features than they added. Simple ones that make a big difference. I think they aimed it more for people who want to go through and pick a lot of music, and then buy it all at once. They took out a lot of what made large shopping carts easy and quick to navigate and buy from. I for one used the shopping cart more as a place to store all the music I EVENTUALLY wanted to buy rather than a more immediate place to chuck my upcoming purchases. Every time I saw a song on iTunes that I liked, regardless of my immediate intent of buying it, it went in the shopping cart. I may not get to it for months, but it would stay there, and I could get to it easily when I wanted to.
I highly doubt I'm the only person who used it like that, and for those of us who did, I think the wish-list is a crappy alternative.

Well after my post on this very issue was removed (because it was deemed more feedback than a question - which I'm fine with), it would likely have helped.
As far as I can tell, there is only ONE WAY to get to your shopping cart, er, wish list.
    1) Login
    2) On the left bar (the section where your shopping cart used to be, along with your playlists), you have to click on iTunes Store. You'll see your Wish List in the Quick Links section...
Thats it. Clicking anywhere else, like the 'Home' link or whatever, will not help you...if this is all too crazy, yeah, it is. I mean, making it difficult to purchase sounds really, um, crazy, particularly if you shop by shopping cart - which means you actually spend money on more music than "single buy". Ugh!
On the other question on how to "Add to Wish List". In the section where songs are listed (with fixed sized columns that you can't adjust in this version - had to rub that in), you'll see a button to "BUY SONG". To the right of that text is an arrow (in the button, not another column) that if clicked gives you more options. One of them is to add to your wish list. Can't tell if the fixed sized columns are also affecting your view (maybe you're not seeing the entire button?).

  • My wish list for 9.0.3

I saw someone earlier this month listed their excellent wish list. The Jdev team responded and that was terrific. I just thought I'd list my growing list so they can see it, although I doubt any of these will make it to 9.0.3, unless they were already slated for inclusion. The list is in no particular priority order, it's just in the order that I encounted the bugs/desires.
    1.     Enable mouse wheel functionality. (Fix Bug 2055415)
    2.     Want to be able to drag and drop variables into watch window.
    3.     Want to be able to right click, and add the variable to the watch list, even though the program is not running yet. Now it only works if you stopped for a break point.
    4.     Not have JDeveloper window have its Normal window size reset to full screen upon startup. (Fix bug 1655341)
    5.     Code Insight sometimes is hard to invoke. For example, if I have a function, with a bunch of parameters already entered) and I click in the argument list, nothing happens (no popup). If I hit crtl-space, it brings up a huge list of all kinds of things that Im not interested in. What I really want is a way to bring up the list of argument parameters. Apparently the only way to do this is to get rid of all prior arguments and the left parenthesis and retype the left paren. But then if you say, paste in the existing arguments (which you cut to save them), then the argument list pop-up/tool-tip disappears and youre out of luck again. Basically, just have it work like Microsofts Intellisense which seems to know more intuitively what you want and when you want it. They even have a button on their edit toolbar which you can click when youre in an arg list to bring up Intellisense. Id like that button in Jdev.
    6.     Want easy way to comment out blocks of code. E.g., highlight lines and hit ctrl-/ and it will put a // in front of each line.
    7.     Want to be able to select a line of code by clicking in the left margin (arrow changes directions common in many applications, such as MS Word) rather than clicking and dragging a selection down to the line below.
    8.     Want a way to have bookmarks in the code editor. (Fix bug request #1797151.)
    9.     Dont have title bars of the various windows in the development environment have double lines across them. This makes it tough to find the proper line that you need to grab (cursor turns into double arrow head) to resize the window.
    10.     Upon restarting Jdeveloper, want replacement options (Single, Global, Prompted) to remain what I selected in my prior session.
    11.     Would like modified files in the System-Navigator window (System tab) to be in color (e.g. Red) rather than just black italics (not so obvious and hard to see).
    12.     When I click inside a method, the name of the method (which you see listed in the structure window) should become highlighted. Currently if you double clicked one method in the structure window and went there but then moused down in the code editor window and clicked in a different function, then the function (that you left) in the structure goes from blue highlighted to gray highlighted (fine I guess but would rather have no highlighting ) but the new method does not become highlighted (my gripe).
    13.     When youre going through the code doing search & replace, it should highlight, in the structure window, the name of the method that youre currently in (the place where its prompting you to replace).
    14.     When youre going through the code and stopping at breakpoints, it should highlight, in the structure window, the name of the method that youre currently in (the place where its prompting you to replace).
    15.     The only way to accept a suggestion from Code Insight is to press enter. It would be nice if you could also use the next logical operator like . (dot). Then the editor should insert the selected suggestion followed by . and start Code Insight again on the next level of the expression. There's already an enhancement request filed for this: #2197394
Gee, its starting to sound like I want JDev to look like Microsoft Visual Studio. A colleague just handed me Microsoft's Visual J++. I'm wondering whether to try it. I'm tempted but I'll hold off for a little bit.

    Hi Mark,
Responding to the Code Insight and Code Editor areas:
    5. Code Insight sometimes is hard to invoke. For example, if I have a
function, with a bunch of parameters already entered) and I click in the
argument list, nothing happens (no popup). If I hit crtl-space, it brings
up a huge list of all kinds of things that Im not interested in. What I
really want is a way to bring up the list of argument parameters.Code Insight has two flavors. One is code completion, Ctl-space, which shows you a popup list of possible completions. The other is parameter info, Ctl-shift-space, which shows you a tooltip with the list of argument parameters as appropriate. Different hot-keys. They can coexist on your screen when
    appropriate (starting with 9.0.3).
Apparently the only way to do this is to get rid of all prior arguments
and the left parenthesis and retype the left paren. But then if you say,
paste in the existing arguments (which you cut to save them), then the
argument list pop-up/tool-tip disappears and youre out of luck again. We've made a lot of improvements to Code Insight for release 9.0.3. It's much stabler than in v9.0. For example, the above problem is fixed for 9.0.3 (assuming I understand your request correctly).
Basically, just have it work like Microsofts Intellisense which seems to
know more intuitively what you want and when you want it. They even have
a button on their edit toolbar which you can click when youre in an arg
list to bring up Intellisense. Id like that button in Jdev.Hmm... we hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the idea. Can't guarantee that we'll implement it, but I'll bring it up for discussion.
    6. Want easy way to comment out blocks of code. E.g., highlight lines
and hit ctrl-/ and it will put a // in front of each line.#2175300. Implemented for 9.0.3.
    8. Want a way to have bookmarks in the code editor. (Fix bug request
    #1797151.)Implemented for 9.0.3.
    10.     Upon restarting Jdeveloper, want replacement options (Single,
Global, Prompted) to remain what I selected in my prior session.Implemented for 9.0.3 as an option in the preferences for the Code Editor.
Couldn't find a specific bug number for that.
    12. When I click inside a method, the name of the method (which you see
listed in the structure window) should become highlighted. Currently if
you double clicked one method in the structure window and went there but
then moused down in the code editor window and clicked in a different
function, then the function (that you left) in the structure goes from
blue highlighted to gray highlighted (fine I guess but would rather have
no highlighting ) but the new method does not become highlighted (my
    gripe).
    13. When youre going through the code doing search & replace, it should
highlight, in the structure window, the name of the method that youre
currently in (the place where its prompting you to replace).
    14. When youre going through the code and stopping at breakpoints, it
should highlight, in the structure window, the name of the method that
youre currently in (the place where its prompting you to replace).Treating all three as a single request: Any time the cursor moves in the code editor, hilite the appropriate node in the structure pane. This actually did occur to me just recently. Filing ER 2428707 to track this request. Probably won't make it into 9.0.3.
    15. The only way to accept a suggestion from Code Insight is to press
enter. It would be nice if you could also use the next logical operator
like . (dot). Then the editor should insert the selected suggestion
followed by . and start Code Insight again on the next level of the
expression. There's already an enhancement request filed for this: #2197394Won't make it into 9.0.3.
    Thanks for the suggestions!

  • Wish list for Encore

I don't see a wish list category here so maybe we could start one.
My number one irritant in Encore 2.0 is the default ON of "Sync Button Text and Name." This in on by default and it should be off or unchecked in my opinion.
I do all my menus in Photoshop and import them into Encore. My buttons are all set. Then when I start assigning buttons to timelines I forget to uncheck this and it screws up my PS buttons by changing them to whatever I called my timelines. I really hate this. Thank goodness for undo, but when a default is never what you use, then the reverse should be the default. At least that's my two cents worth.
    Thanks,
    [email protected]

posted this earlier in another thread until i found out that this is where i should have posted.
    so here is my list:
    1. The ability to import power point slide shows into encore as a slide show. This would make it really handy to import some ones previously created slide show and turn it into a DVD slide show. It doesn't have to do all the fancy animations or transitions, just import the slide shows. Yes I know I can export from power point to jpgs. Have you really looked at the results? Crap is all I have to say. Of course I could recreate them in Photoshop or some other program that lets picture and titling be created. You know how much extra time that step costs?
    2. Could you make a project manager for encore that is similar to the one in premier? I would like to be able to trim the project and remove "temporary files". I especially hate the number of temporary menus that accumulate in the menus folder. I want to be able to back up the necessary files only, not all the junk. it would also be nice if it would grab the video(I) that make up the project and compile them in to the folder that I designate as the new project folder, just like premier does.
    3. its not really to hard to now, but it would be nice if there was some method for telling encore that you are creating an Easter egg. Currently there are a few steps to doing it and it is all manual. It would be nice if you could designate a button as being an Easter egg and then tell encore which choice of ways you want it to handle it. For instance is it just a simple Easter egg where you go on the right direction on a button and viola, you found it. Or is it a button that you go to and it goes to a duplicate menu and then you need to hit the right button a couple of times and then viola, you found it. Any thing to make my DVD creation to have a few less steps.
    6. Another thing that I think encore needs has to do with the flowchart. Give me some zoom on that baby. I like it, but it would be nice if I could zoom out to look at the overall structure.
    7. The ability to normalize the audio across the entire DVD. My wife made a disc and some parts were loud and others were so quiet. It would be nice to not have to do this for each clip before in premier, but leave it till the final stage of DVD production so that it only has to be done once.
    more to come :)

  • Wish list for the Helix 2?

I realize this is a bit early, but now that there are a few Helix units out in the wild, what features would you like to see added or changed for the next ThinkPad Helix iteration?
    My personal wish list:
    Must-haves:
    - Haswell
    - a solid desktop dock for the slate with the screen angled up toward the user at 'writing angle', 2xhdmi, 4+ usb in back.
    - lighter all around, same battery life (thanks to Haswell). How about 3lbs with keyboard?
    - at least one USB port on the slate that is not blocked by docking.
    - eraser on the included pen!
    - SD or uSD card slot
    Nice to have:
    - a touch-cover like product. Make the mounting bracket slots magnetic and use those for the screen cover as well.
    - Firmware update: option to not lock the digitizer if pen is in silo.
    - virtual bezel to have more screen space when docked (see Intel reference design)
    - option to keep some of the USB powered when machine is off (plus clear indicator of power draw!)
    - a backlit keyboard
    - fingerprint reader
     From posts below:
    - Bluetooth connection to dock, so dock can work as wireless KB (no need to dock e.g to type one password)
    - HDD/SSD option in the dock like in the HP Split X2 (but boy is that thing heavy..4.85lbs)
    - higher resolution (1600 vertical), maybe after display scaling in Windows improves for multi-monitor setups..
    - better release schedule. Protip: estimate demand, get production going, THEN announce.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    An accurate ship date.

  • Missing Features, Bugs, and Wish List for Apple Engineers

I LOVE my iPhone. It is by far the best phone I have ever had. The interface is awesome. Great job Apple, but there are missing features and bugs that all of us want updated or wish were added. I know they were probably already thought of by Apple, but in an effort to make the phone perfect removed to make it more stable. Now that it is out lets make it perfect.
This thread will hopefully give you guys guidance from the early adopters who share your love for the phone (and others who want to chime in). I want to separate the list into a few categories and hope everyone will add to this thread with their ideas:
    1) BUGS/CHANGES TO EXISTING APPS:
    - Period should be in alphabet keyboard (make space smaller) or when you go to symbol keyboard and hit period it should automatically go back to the alphabet keyboard (unless you double click the symbol button which means stay there like caps lock)
    - Individual delete (like Mail) of all lists (eg. call list, bookmarks list, history etc.
    - Multiple item in a List delete (see below for how to select). This is also so un-Mac like to not be able to select multiple items to delete. It is all or none for clear/delete on the iPhone.
    - Implement double finger slide...in maps double finger tap zooms out so the OS recognizes this, why don't you use a double finger drag to mean "select". There is no way to select some words in a sentence or a group of items. This could be how. eg. In a list (eg Mail) double finger slide over items you want to select (instead of singer finger drag which moves the list) then one finger slide to the right to delete the selected items from the list.
    - Copy and paste. Since there are no menus this would require a gesture (ala newton)
    - when you tap the battery icon it should bring up a battery status dialog (ala wifi join dialog where the screen dims): present charge, big battery icon (like the charging one), time left. In addition, instead of giving battery usage details only after a full charge, give it at any point.
    - Since you know that nights and weekends are at set times (and not variable like it was on Sprint where I came from)...the phone usage details should be broken down into: peak minutes used and N+W minutes used (not hard to figure out since you know the time and dates of calls)
    - Be able to change font/background etc in Notes app
    - faster way to get to favorites in the killer phone app after turning on phone. Just seems like it takes too many taps to get there to make a call on a phone.
    2) WISH LIST FOR NEW APPS (apps that can be added with existing hardware, see #3 for other wishes)
    - iChat (obvious and probably almost done)
    - VOIP (probably not going to happen, and wouldn't work in Europe where I would need it most gven network speeds there)
    - Flight tracker widget
    - Exchange support (probably in the works)
    - Push email from gmail and .Mac (probably in the works)
    - Bluetooth sync
    - DUN (probably not going to happen since AT+T does not want it)
    - Data/File storage with sync
    - TODO APP that syncs to to do in iCal
    - Ringtones, definitely from songs from iPod side (obvious and coming soon I am sure)
-Search function like spotlight. Global would be awesome, but even just in contacts
    3) FUTURE HARDWARE RELATED WISHES (stuff we wish could be in hardware version 1 but know require a version 2):
    - GPS
    - 3G
    - LED that changes color and/or pulses (like MacBooks sleep light) that indicates things (eg charge status, Voice mail status, roaming status etc) without turning on the phone
    - Move camera to front to allow video conferencing (I doubt Steve would allow since it would mess up the clean front look)
Well I could go on and will add to this thread later, but I need to go to work to show everyone (and sell more apple stuff since many of my colleagues have been converted to macs). Now, all you pioneers, start adding things to help our beloved phone become better!
    Peter
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.3.6)

I agree with your post! I'm amazed by the simplicity, the screen, and the apps on the iPhone. They all have worked wonderfully for me, with just a few crashes while surfing or loading big email images. (I heard that shutting down the phone and restarting helps that.)
The single flaw for me is that the phone app itself should be primary, with more options (quicker access, unique ringtones, voicedial?) and ease of use. The other applications are so elegant, but I need my phone to be very accessible and practical too.
    My wish list:
    1) Make it fewer taps to get to the point where you can make a phone call. How about the main button can be programmed to take you wherever you want. I'd choose to go to Phone Favorites, so I could speed dial right away.
    2) Be able to set a preference as to what app you're in when you wake up the phone. I'd choose phone keypad, some might choose iCal, etc.
    3) Add the period and comma symbols to the alpha keyboard.
    4) Allow different ringtones for specific caller ID's.
    5) Copy and paste.
V2) With new hardware, add a "back" button to return to prev. screen. It could be small, on the side near volume?

  • E71 Feedback and Wish list for future development

    Hi Nokia and Nokia Fans.
E71 is a masterpiece but I believe there's much room for improvement. My E71 is indispensable to me. I wish Nokia will strive to thrive the E series and in particular the E71.
Here's my wish list / features to add:
    1. A Task Manager for Symbian that's Nokia naively developed is absolutely essential as it's required to manage all aspects of applications, processes and threads, especially the misbehaving ones.
    2. Use better GPS Chipset with better sensitivity as the current one is really slackly.
    3. High-Speed WiFi connection to access and manage the phone including the mass storage instead of fiddling with wires.
    4. Secure zone for creating password-protected notes/memos/etc, previously called "wallet".
    5. Add SMS "Listen" feature for sent messages.
    6. Add "Timed" Profiles.
My feedback / Issues to fix:
    1. "Memory card in use" Error. Despite proper removal of USB connection when using PC Suite or Mass Storage data transfer.
    2. Configure to display "Firstname Lastname" format .
    3. Configure Date display to American format (Wednesday December 03 2008).
    4. Save current "configurations and user preferences" for future deployment after firmware upgrade or maintenance routine.
    5. When receiving a Bluetooth message with (.sis or .sisx) attachment, provide save to memory card option rather than launching installtion process.
    6. Setting up "WPA2 Only" mode on WLAN Security Settings for a particular Access Point will not allow communication despite the access point router/gateway is configured to work on this particular mode.
    7. Camera is another isssue. Fix color fidelity and picture clarity issues.
    Thanks
    .......To be revised as needed.

Nice wishlist, willing to front up the extra cash to have these features? Got to remember that until these feature become more common they will stay as premium items and that you need to pay the extra money or move to a higher priced plan for them. Getting something like device locks would be great though but then what would device locks do for a customer base? and they do have the data encryption built in....
I would like to see a 16:9 aspect ratio in the next version of the phone myself. A holster pouch w/ belt clip rather than looking for and buying an ill fitting pouch cos I really don't like the pouch it comes with and cant find a nice one. The ability to have more than just the plain 6 applications on the screen, it used to scroll if I remember correctly in the older ones. The ability to skip music tracks when pressing volume up or down. 3.5mm audio jack. Time and date or at least time shown on the top strip of the display when going through the menu (there are a number of time I want to know the time and have to program juggle to find out what it is. More symbols on the other keys rather than just on the right hand side, I do have 2 thumbs available to use and fairly dexterous with either hand.
Less "download - **bleep**" in the web menu it takes me to a link with useless stuff on it.....
That GPS chip needs to be replaced, it has me walking down the road or in my neighbours house when I'm just lying in my lounge.
This wish is for all Nokia Symbian devices, I would love to see a Nokia App store. I'm sure it'll come around once they get the symbian foundation off the ground but i'm impatient and a lil lazy and haven't always got the time to find an application for something I have thought up. Blackberry and Apple have got something of a centralised store up and running, C'mon Nokia! Get a move on!

  • Wish List doesn't work right

For a couple of days now, my wish list has not worked properly.
I have a lot of items on my wish list, mostly albums, so they do not all fit on one page.
Now when I access my wish list, the first page works fine. It displays everything correctly and I can use the buy buttons to purchase the items.
But when I try to access the second page, it won't work. The album covers are not displayed at all and the buttons aren't working. I can also not remove any items from my wish list when they are on the second page. It is also not just a problem with the albums. It is the same with single songs.
Also, when I choose to sort the items on my wish list in a different way (e.g. name) instead of the date I added them to my wish list, it causes the same problem as going to page 2. I have no idea what is going on.
I had recently installed a new driver for my video card, so I tried the old one, but the problem was still there. Since that was the only major change to my system I have no idea what else to try.
I hope somebody her can help me.

I think folks are looking for a solution.
And I have given one. The Palatino font supplied with Mavericks is no good. The only fix is to replace it with an older version. If you don't have one, you can't fix it.
Do you agree that Restore Standard Fonts...works ... Yes? No?
No. That option only attempts to remove fonts from the System and root Library folders that are included with OS X. It doesn't give you an option to restore OS X supplied fonts that are missing.
I have to presume you installed Mavericks over Mountain Lion. In Mavericks, Palatino is installed to the /System/Library/Fonts/ folder. In ML, that same (correctly working) font is installed to the /Library/Fonts/ folder.
Presuming this scenario is correct, the working version of Palatino in the /Library/Fonts/ folder was already active. When resolving conflicts in Font Book, the active font is always the one left active. Which would mean it removed the broken, Mavericks installed version.
As noted above, I fully tested and have proven the Mavericks version of Palatino is bad. I have multiple versions of this font. They are from:
    OS 9
    MS Office 2011
    Lion
    Mountain Lion
    Mavericks
    Adobe Type 1 PostScript
    Adobe OpenType PostScript
I used Suitcase Fusion to activate one version at a time. Testing in Word, InDesign and other apps, they all behaved as expected until using the Mavericks supplied version.

  • New iTunes "wish" list function Removed

I'm hoping somone might be able to offer a suggestion to help get my workflow back since the new iTunes 11 release has removed my most useful feature.
I am a DJ and spend a good 6-8 hours a week creating playlist, partly managing the music I own and partly locating songs in the itunes store.   What I used to do:  If I didn't own a song, I'd locate it in the itunes store, drag it into a general playlist where I could move it around (unpurchased) to other playlists and when I was done I could go through my playlist and purchase the songs that I wanted to. Many people never knew this was possible. This streamlined the process and allowed me to give the boot to songs that I didn't think were worth the purchase (when purchasing 20-40 songs a week, every $1.29 counts!)    I learned of this function from apple years ago... They didn't promote it much, but it was a function they built in to allow people to do just what I did... create a list and then purchase the songs.
The new itunes does not seem to support creating these "wish lists" on my desktop... I know about the wishlist feature that is store based.  The problem is that I only have the ability to have ONE wishlist... when I need at least three to keep my music organized for my upcoming events. I still have the older version installed on my main computer, but I know I'm going to have to make the leap soon and know the loss of this functionality is going to be extremely stiffling to my productivity.
Any assistance, tricks, ideas, etc would be welcome and appreciated!!

I figured out a workaround and posted it in this thread - https://discussions.apple.com/message/20751126#20751126
It is kind of a hassle, but at least you can still put songs in your own wishlists.

  • Wish List Updates for Snow Leopard

If you support any of the following, please send them to Apple's suggestion box.
I would like Apple to offer the following settings, preferably without third party fixes.  HOWEVER, feel free to respond with your favorite work-around solutions.  I need to learn Terminal!
    1. Safari - close download window upon completion
    2. Safari - remove ALL cookies and cached items when "resetting" same.  There are always a select few that have to be manually deleted
    3. Safari - have a built in video downloader/converter - Yes there are good third party solutions for this
    4. Safari - allow Private Viewing as a default option
1.Pointer options - Create an option in preferences to enable the pointer to automatically go the default option selection (as is possible in that "other" operating system.  You know, the one that pirated the window concept)
    1. Apple mail - #1 request is identify a way to allow the numerous superior email clients interface as seamlessly with other native apps.
    2. Apple mail - short of that, create a setting to turn off or allow a time setting to override an email automatically being marked as read if it happens to be highlighted with you open the app, thereby appearing in the preview pane. Appearing in the preview pane does not mean I have read it.
    3. Apple mail - provide an option for creating return receipts requests
    4. Apple mail - What it that box that appears around blocks of text in received mail that makes editing more difficult than it should be
    5. Apple mail - Provide a tool to apply the formatting to other parts of the email (sort of like the paint brush tool in that OS with the "W" word)
    6. Apple mail - If I label a sender as "not-junk" do not put label mail from this sender as Junk.  I do not want all senders in my address book.
    7. Apple mail - If I label a sender as "JUNK" future mail from this sender should also be JUNK, no?
    8. Apple mail - Create a rule that allows "Bounce" as an option
    1. iPhoto - I know I must be missing something here, so please chime in -
How or what can I do to save photos into iPhoto when I am not using iPhoto.  The most common annoyance for me is saving photos off email attachment or from the web.  There MUST be something I am doing wrong.  Where is the "Save to iPhoto Library" option?
    1. QuickTime - Please bring back QT Player 7!!!
    12. I know we mustn’t use "other" browsers, but in those rare events that it happens - how nice would it be to have a native bookmark sync option or common folder?
    13. Finder - allow more columns in the viewing options for Spotlight
Please feel free to add to the list.

So may words, so little help.  You do realize that they call this a Support Community, right?
    1. Safari - close download window upon completion
Mine already does this, and I'm sure you can do it in Snow Leopard, too.
When you refer to "mine," what OS are you referring to?  Are you willing to share your knowledge on where I might find this capability?
    3. Safari - have a built in video downloader/converter - Yes there are good third party solutions for this
That's not the job of a browser, and it's not going to happen. Keep dreaming.
Thanks again for the helpful advice. I am impressed with our willingness to help.
    4. Safari - allow Private Viewing as a default option
You can turn it on yourself. There's also AppleScript, or assigning a keyboard shortcut.
I am very aware of how to turn it on.  I would prefer to leave it on by default.  Care to share your AppleScript knowledge?
Apple mail - provide an option for creating return receipts requests
It's been there for years—where have you been?
Thanks again for the poweruser tip, very helpful.
    1. Apple mail - #1 request is identify a way to allow the numerous superior email clients interface as seamlessly with other native apps.
That's entirely your opinion, which isn't shared by the vast majority of Mac users.
I am sorry I do not share you opinion, nor did I know you speak for the majority of Mac users.  Perhaps with your superior guidance I would become a power user too?
Where is the "Save to iPhoto Library" option?
Have you tried looking at the options given to you when you receive email with attachments? There's a Save button in the Header section that gives you the option to save the image to iPhoto.
And how does this sugggestion help when downloading a photo from the web?
Perhaps if you spent time getting to know your Mac and OS X, you'd find that there aren't nearly as many "issues" as you seem to imagine.
Yes, and I perhaps if you would share a bit of your superior knowledge I would agree.  That was my hope in posting to a "support community."  You put a fair amount of effort into your criticism.  Just "imagnie..."
