My opinion on scratching issues, Camera and other hardware related glitches on iPhone 5

Been a cell phone enthusiast, technician so I dumped the Nokia N97 phone in 2010 for Blackberry bold and in 2012 had a first touch of iPhone 4S- I thought this device was beautiful, perfectly designed and finished. Oh what a great piece of art, I’m hooked!
Shortly after getting the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 was launched so I decided why wait 2 years before getting iPhone 5, so I decided to send money to my brother overseas to get me an unlocked iPhone 5 even with all the uncertainties with LTE networks, service provider etc.
At first, my brother thought I was insane to fork out that amount of money to get a phone? Usually money gets sent from Europe and America to Africa and not the other way around, I guess he will never understand why, it’s an iPhone dear brother.
While my order is in “Processing state” I read in the news about the design flaw reported, i.e. the decision to use Aluminum because its lighter, So it happened that the anodization of the Aluminum casing is not properly applied to protect this gorgeous device, these things happen but why is Apple not halting production and really fixing this issue?
Why I am so disgusted is that, Apple is enforcing strict controls at assembly line that would be Foxconn as reports have it but does that prevent the phone from easily scratching after a user buys one? The quality control has now slowed down the production of iPhone 5 and I’m not sure anymore if I will get my iPhone 5 at the expected date.
I don’t get this really; Apple enforces quality controls to make sure no scratches on these iPhone 5s during assembly knowing that when a user buys it, it can easily get scratched.
I am very disappointed in Apple and the current CEO is somehow a failure, I speak under correction but Steve Jobs would have handled this situation more professionally.
Another infuriating response from Apple about purple haze in pictures taking with iPhone 5 where Apple openly informs us to cover the camera before taking a picture- This is ridiculous!
Apple will not be the first to make a technology mess, every major manufacturer or technologist have had their share of design flaw, Toyota recently recalled some of its cars, I think Apple should man-up and fix this crap.
And for the record, I am no Samsung fan, some of you might come up with weird responses insinuating I am a Samsung fan, naturally I hate Samsung phones, I am an IT specialist and I have worked on mobile phone repairs in the past and Samsung are just too fragile, I’m talking from the days of Nokia 3210 and the likes.
What are your views comrades?

The only people who can possibly assist you with this is Apple Customer Relations, call your local Apple contact number and ask for Customer Relations then explain your situation clearly and politely (be firm but don't rant).
You might want to investiage what the local laws are regarding defective goods and 'fit for use' definitions on warranties etc. Consumer Protection can be a useful tool to use or bargain with if needed ...

I have already tranferd some info to an external hard drive i just need to get my itune items. also i have heard if you plug your phone to a differnt computer you lose of you information.

Yelow camera and other

Hi, my iPhone 4 is coming from London sim free with relatives . i live in India, and the thing is, im not so worried about the antenna issues but the yellow camera and yellow spots are really freaking me out.
iphone 4 in India is not coming out for atleast 40 - 50 more days, and i cant wait
What i want to know is if any of you'll are aware of the proceedure i will have to follow in case i get a defective piece. ( there are no apple stores in Indi, only resellers and service providers, who obviously wont help me untill IP4 launches here, and even then i doubt they will as i have UK waranty).
Like is ther some procedure to ship it to uk retail, or what....

The Apple people probably didn't understand that you wanted a live mix. FCP can't help you there.
MultiCam is an FCP feature "post-switching" multicamera recordings for that live-to-tape look. It is fairly complex, and especially with only two "cameras" you would be muchn better to start off editing them on the timeline.
As for a live switch you need a video switcher. Outside the realm of FCP, but http://bhphoptovideo.com is a great place to do research.
Then if you're really serious you can record both feeds plus optionally the live switched output for further manipulation in FCP or elsewhere.

N8 poor signal reception and other hardware issues...

I have always been a Nokia fan . I started with Nokia 6600, then N70, then N82 and now a Nokia N8.
However, I am facing the worst experience with N8 reception issues.
The problems faced are as under :
1) Poor Signal Reception Issues - Signal strength is weak and is constantly fluctuating compared to other Nokia Phones. At my workplace, if Nokia N82 displays 5 bars, N8 would display only 1 or 2 bars.
2) Phone freezes many times. Whenever an Alarm is enabled, phone freezed much more.
3) Purple Tint in the display. Nokia Service Centre says that its normal but according to me, they are just ignoring this issue.
4) Vibration is weak : I often do not realize when the phone is vibrating in my pocket !!
Upcoming Symbian Anna will just improve the user interface but will not be able to solve these hardware issues.
If Nokia plans a hardware update facility for N8 users wherein they can fix the signal reception issues and increase the RAM to 1 GB atleast, I would retain this phone for few years.
But, now, I intend to switch to Samsung Galaxy S II.

I am agree with poor signal issue with nokia N8. I have two cell with one is N8 and other one is N26 with nearly 4.5 year old but at same place Nokia N8 showing very poor quality of network signal compared to N26. So for same network provider with two different cell with same manufacture how can drastic different that is also investing nearly RS.22000!
Please resolve the issue ASAP.

Live video feed from camera and other PC

My Mac Pro is being shipped as we speak. I'm new to this, and not up with all the lingo so please bear with me. I'm hoping you all can help me figure out what I'm trying to accomplish:
I currently VJ (Video Jockey) with certain software on a PC and send that video mix out (DVI or VGA) to a Plasma TV. I just bought a Canon A1 camera and a Mac Pro w/FCP studio. How can I mix the live video feed of the Canon with the video feed from PC (preferably in HD)?
I also want to be able to record and edit the footage from the Canon later.
I was told by the guys at the Apple store that I could do this using FCP multicam. Is that true? I read a couple posts on here that say FCP is just editing software and can't do live feed. Then what is the purpose of multicam? Please help. Thanks-

Divx and other media related plugins always crash and/or no longer work, please help

Why is nothing of divx seems to work anymore? Every time i try to watch a video online using a divx site or site that uses a divx player, i get the message
"divx plus web player pluging has cashed, send crash report"
I send it - then am offered the option to reload the page once reloaded a press play the player then says connecting and then crashes again!!!
FF this is ridiculas!!
None of the divx plugins are recognised anymore and the divx web player add on is marked as incompatible, and there is not an option to enable it! im using windows vista home basic 32-bit operating system, & the new version of firefox.
Its really annoying that these extensions and plugins no longer work crash and/or are no longer recognised espcially considering firefox insisted we upgrade for security issue etc and that 3.6 wont be kept up to date any more, I want reinstall the 3.6 version but am worried about security issues now.
will the divx plugin and addon/extension be added to this new version anytime soon if not what can i do to enable me to watch videos without the plugin crashing ? (i have updated all the pluggins but the problem still occurs) ?

I am having the same problems as well. Every time I turned around there was a new version of Firefox 8.0. Prior to the constant updating of Firefox I was able to watch movies from Stagevu and Veehd and now because of the new Firefox I cannot watch any movies. I also tried the VLC plugin and that constantly crashes as well as the DivX Web Player. I read so many complaints and no one from Firefox or any of the other browser is giving any of their constituents or customers whatever you want to call us any solutions to the problem and I am beginning to get a little frustrated. I have tried all of the other browsers like the Internet Explorer and Google Chrome and I still come up with the same problem.

Debugger tool doesn't include SIPStack and other mediation related components

Hello,
I have noticed everytime now that when I install CU 8 on Lync 2013 and then install Debugger tool I don't get SIPStack and any other related mediation component listed. I tried troubleshooting and replacing the default file but it's not coming up although
the Lync mediation service is started and nothing is wrong with the server.
I'm just trying to trace calls but I can't figure out why is this happening? it's not the first deployment that I have noticed this.
I would appreciate any suggestion on this.

In my Lync Server 2013 environment, I have update to the latest CU. however, in the Lync Server Debugger Tool, I can see the SIPStack and other related Mediation Server component listed as following:
Please make sure you have update to the latest version of Lync Server 2013 and then check the issue again.

I am having issues sending and receiving group texts on iphone 5c. I may get texts only from the sender or a few of the recipients, but not all. I spoken to Apple. They are working on the problem but it has been almost two months + and the problem seems to be getting worse. Any one have this issue?

ajspurr, sorry to hear that you're still having some troubles here, but we want to figure this out. If you have already cleared the application cache and data and it's still giving you an issue, we may want to reset the device. By resetting the device we can ensure there are no underlying software issues. If you have the device backed up you can take a look here to see how to reset the device http://vz.to/1ucTCmE. If you want everything copied over then you can copy your iTunes downloads over to your computer's iTunes library by connecting it and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases and you can then backup up your old phone via File > Devices > Back Up - you can then restore that backup onto your new phone (or iPad as this is the Using iPad forum).

IOS 7 no camera and other issues

I have iphone 5 and just did the iOS 7 upgrade, now I have no camera, no safari, no itunes, no itunes store and that is only what I have noticed right away. How do I fix ??????

Go into settings -> general -> reset -> reset network settings. Should fix ou right up.

How do I get Apple to stand behind their warranty and replace my defective computer? The hard drive has been replaced twice, the track pad once, and other hardware issues. Can anyone help me so I can get Apple to replace my defective

My computer has been a lemon. They refuse to properly diagnose, fix, and document my complaints regarding the multiple failures I have had with this computer. Also, I was told that upon my logic board being replaced back in April or May that the topic of replacing the computer altogether with one of equal equipment would be appropriate. Insofar, I have been to the store at least three times in the past month to discuss my issues with the computer that were not resolved when the hard drive was replaced in May. I was also told that the repairs on my system would be good for up to 90 days after the repair work was done and that I could buy AppleCare at the end of the 90 days in lieu of insuring a product that still had defects. I have been on the phone for what feels like hours with Apple trying to work this issue out but they are not wanting to stand behind their product nor are they willing to stand behind their warranty. The warranty expressly states that a computer can be replaced entirely if the defect is considered hardware malfunction and at the representative’s discretion. Every time I brought it in for repair it was due to hardware malfunction; however, they also said once that it was an accessory that I bought that was causing the problem which ended up not being the case after all. This is totally unacceptable. I also asked Mark from AppleCare to let me know what was repaired the second time the computer was put through a diagnostic at the Apple Store. Beachballs, Gears, excessive heat, not being taken seriously at the Apple Store, being insulted by a Mac Genius at the Apple Store, being misinformed by a Mac Genius, dealing with a misinformed Mac Genius. They replaced my iPod touch without much ado. I was also accused by an Apple Genius of being "hyperbolic." He said this in response to my complaint of the computer melting--literally--items on my computer desk. I am either wanting a refund of my money or a replacement of my laptop. Also, I have lost an incredible amount of data on my computer due to the hard drive being replaced x 2. Not acceptable. Also, the Apple store is 1 hour from where I live. I am currently looking for employment and additionally have a legal case pending where I am the plaintiff. I have lost VERY important documents in both matters which has caused an extreme amount of stress. I do not need the added stress of an unreliable and unsafe computer. I also have been waiting for a call back from Kelly (left two voice messages with Kelly) and Mark (wrote an e-mail for which he has not responded to insofar) at Apple but have heard nothing from either one of them regarding the status of my computer. The only thing I received which was automated by the Apple Store was a confirmation that my computer was ready. I have requested documentation of what was done (basically, I am asking for the receipt) before I drive an hour to pick it up. Haven't heard anything. I brought this computer in on July 24, 2011. We are now upon August 2nd. When do I get to know what was even done on my computer? Do they really think that I am going to take back a computer into my possession only to have to bring it back shortly thereafter to address one of the many issues causing it to malfunction in the first place? I have owned 5 computers since 1988. All of them PCs. This is my first Mac. Will it be my last?

USB Drive not downloading software for Camera and other new devices - HP Desktop G5418uk

Operating system:- Windows 7
Error message:-Installing Device Driver Software - followed by - Device Driver Software was not succesfuly installed, no Driver found.
I purchased a new Creative Plug and play WebCam which I could not get to work although it worked on shops Desk Top. I returned it and the shop changed it for a Microsoft WebCam but the same thing happened. I have since tried to use 2 separate pen drives and the drivers will not down load. Existing plug and play such as my external Hard drive work as normal so the problem has only risen for new equipment. Don't know how long ago but this has been going on for 6 months. I have also successfully installed the Camera on my old desk top without any problems. Any help someone can give would be very much appreciated.
