My other computers can't connect to the network/internet

i am using a cable modem and have it hooked up to my airport express.
my mac is accessing the internet fine, but my laptop (windows) can't log on to my wireless network and connect to the internet.
i've tried to change my internet sharing preferences under "sharing", "internet", but that does not seem to be the right solution. when i try to connect with my laptop, it asks me to enter in a WEP, ASCII code. i've read all through the help menu and it told me to enter in "applecomputer" as the password, but that doesn't work either.
any help, ideas, and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The problem you are having probably lies with the encryption key.

Have you set up any security on the Mac Connection Sharing?
Sorry but I don't use that so I'm not familiar with the settings.
But if you haven't setup and security the iPhone might not mind but I know most Windows computers do not like to connect to Open WiFi. and make sure it is WPA or WPA2.
Then again it may be a setting in the connection sharing like some type of MAC filtering or it may simply be that Mac OS X connection sharing only allows one connection at a time. Try disconnecting your phone and then connect the PC.
As to Linc's response about Windows.
Windows basically does care about connecting to open, unsecured, WiFi. But it will normally pop up a windows asking "Are myou sure you want to connect to this open network". And a simple click on yes will get you connected and an IP address.
So this is clearly a Mac OS X problem.

Try resetting your modem. Power it down. Wait a moment, then power it up again. While it resets, do not change what is connected to it.
In another, though unrelated article, Apple recommends the following:
If you have configured your Wi-Fi base stations in the past, it may be helpful to do a factory default reset of each Wi-Fi base station that will be part of the wireless extended network before you begin.
This step really ought not be considered optional for the configuration you propose. If the problem persists after resetting your modem, reset everything else too.

Upgrading to xcode and can't connect to the network

Hi! I use a C++ library in my application which connects to the network (I suppose it uses sockets). I've been using it for months and I was using xcode 3.2.4. Now, I just had the great idea of upgrading to xcode 3.2.5, and I found out my application was crashing with the error:

Ok, couldn't solve it, so went back to 3.2.4, as suggested somewhere. The application is not crashing anymore, but now the library can't connect anymore to the network. Tried to rebuild it (I didn't write the library but I have the sources) and use the new library, but nothing. Still the library can't connect to the network. I tried with every simulator.
Any idea what there could be wrong and how I may be able to solve this? Can I somehow delete manually everything related to xcode and the simulator and try to start all over again?

I've been able to temporarily solve this problem by removing the entire Development directory and installing again xcode 3.2.4. Even with xcode 3.2.4 however, the same happened, and I had to do this procedure again. Now it seems to be working correctly, but it seems something very strange has happened. Hasn't anyone experienced anything similar?

I bought mine in the US and activated using a German SIM. It worked fine first on 6.0.1. After upgrading to 6.0.2 the SIM does not work. I have reset the reset the phone and still does not work. I loaded a new SIM and the phone worked for few minutes before going to Searching mode after I restarted the device. I am being told by the Genius Bar team that this is a Hardware failure.

IMac can't connect to the network.

When I try to open safari (version 5.1.1) I get the message "Safari can't connect to the server."
iTunes can't connect either.
However when I go under system preferences> network, it says Wi-Fi is connected. And all the other computers in the house can get online fine.
I use this computer pretty much just for video/film work, and very rarely use it to go online, so this problem could've been going on for several months without me noticing. (At the moment I need to download some software.)

In the networks pane of system preferences, click on assist me, and choose diagnostics. Follow the instructions to diagnose the problem network. This may provide useful information to continue troubleshooting.

Ipod stuck in recovery mode and won't restore. says it can't connect to the network.

My son tried to jailbreak his ipod touch like an idiot and of course it did not work. Now his ipod is stuck in recovery mode and I can't get it to restore. Printer can't connect to the network HP photosmart c309a

I keep having connection issues with my printer. I recently moved it from one room to another and it will not connect to the network. When I do the network test, it doesn't find it and it doesn't find an IP address either. Getting very frustrated.....

Try to move the printer back into the previous room and re-connect.
If it connects with no problem, your issue would be the distance between the router and the printer.
It should be presented in the same room. Before you try doing this, unplug your router for about 20 seconds and plug it back in, and try to connect.

My roommates computers can't connect to the router!

Hey, so I've got this Cisco Lynksys E1200 and I've got internet going to it. When I first tried to connect to it my computor automaticaly set it up (giving the network a name, changing it from tehdefault "Cisco67809" to my perfered natwork name, etc.). The problem is that my rommates laptops cant seem to connect to it properly. I know their internet cards work because they have been able to access the internet via other nearby networks on occasion.
On the 2nd computor it skips the usual..."Conecting to network" attempt and instead just says it cant connect, but its so quick to say that it cant connect that it doesn't even seem to be trying, no request for password or anything! Yet we know the computor does try to connect to other networks, so why would it be so quick to deny a connection with our network without even telling us its "trying to connect"? It then gives the options to "diagnose the problem" or "connect to another network" but the diagnose function just says it can't do anything and gives no information about whats going on.
With the 3rd computor it does connect, or so it says "conected" but with "Limited Acess" and absolutly no accesss to actual internet content.
I have tried to fully reset the router multiple times, creating brand new networks, but the same issue continues to happen. I thought it might have decided my computor was the only one allowed to access it because on each reset I was using my computor to set up the network, but when I reset it and tried to have my roomate on computor #2 set up the router and network (aka change it fromdefault Cisco67809 to our own in house network) it did not allow him to set up the network from scratch as I had done twice.
Why is this router rejecting computors and what can be done to get them online? When I log in to the routers settings it says it is set to allow up to 50 users. So far we have my laptop, and Ipad, and an I touch conneted successfully. Why cant we get the two other laptops on it?

Can you try to clear or remove the Wireless Network Profile from those computers that can't connect? Then, try to reconnect afterwards. Probably, those old profiles stored on other computer have different wireless settings. On the E1200, make sure that MAC address filtering and Parental Control are disabled. Access your router's setup page then go to Wireless > Wireless MAC Filter > then check if it's Disabled. For Parental Control, you can access it via Access Policy tab.

I am trying to connect my laserjet p1102w printer to the wireless network, numerous times, and it still won't work! I have chatted with hp for three times already, uninstalled and installed software, and looked at the manual from cover to cover. Can anyone please help me connect my computer to the network, anything I have tried does not work.

and download the Getting Started and User guide. Page 7 of the User guide is where you want to start. You may have already done all this... but you have not detailed anything yet so I don't know. Keep the USB cable disconnected and start the CD. It should prompt you to plug in the USB cable. If not, plug the USB cable in and start the CD again. Now detail each step and let us know where it fails at please.

HT5192 Update to iOS5.1, error message says can't connect to the network

I'm unable to update my iPad2 and iPhone 4 with the new iOS 5.1. I'm continually getting an error message that says, "There was a problem downloadng the software for the iPad. The network connection could not be established". And yes my internet is on and working!

Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Keychain Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over.
You may have multiple entries. Delte them all.
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, enter the part after the @ sign in the search bar, hit enter
The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...
This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server, or a server end problem.
If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.
The receiving email ports are:
IMAP is port 143
IMAP-SSL is port 993
POP is port 110
POP-SSL is port 995
Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

Can not connect to the network

I just purchased the Apple TV. My network consists of an Airport Extreme "n" base station and a Powerbook. I "had" WPA security set up on the network, but since I had trouble connecting the Apple TV with the password, I reset the base station and are back to the default configuration, no security, and in bridge mode to troubleshoot. Even with this configuration I am unable to connect the Apple TV.
I get:
Connection Failed
Apple TV could not connect to the Internet. Check your network settings and try again.
My laptop is right next to the Apple TV, has a very strong signal and does connect.
So far I've been unable to get anyone at Apple Technical Support to give me help on Apple TV.
Anybody have any ideas?

Wow... what an ordeal! I did get it working. I had to perform a "Factory Reset" on it and then it was able to connect. I tested it with a couple of movie trailers and it worked fine. I changed my network back to WPA with a password that I would be able to reproduce in Apple TV, and it connected up fine. What a big sigh of relief! I am now streaming my iTunes content and life is certainly wonderful!
I am very happy with it! It only took me a little over 5 hours to install it!

Can't connect to wireless network with Apple Computers (WRT54G)

I have had a password protected router (WRT54G) for over two years that any pc will connect to if I give them the password. However, my roommate has an apple laptop and he can't connect, no matter how many times we try. I just got an ipod touch, and it can't connect to the network either. We are inputting our password correctly - why can't apple computers connect to my wireless network??

Make sure you enter the correct password...To check your Wireless Settings follow this link
If your Wireless Security is WEP then use WEP Key1 and not the Passphrase, make sure to enter a dollar sign on your Apple Computer when you attempt to connect...If your Wireless Security is WPA/WPA2 then use the WPA Shared key and no dollar sign is required...
