My other section for my iPhone in iTunes is large...

The other section in my itunes for my iphone 5 is 2.68GB and that seems like a large amount of space.  I was wondering if anyone knows how to minimize it?

This can indicate corrupt files.
A restore shoud resolve.

  • The free space for my iphone on itunes does not match the free space on my iphone after syncing.

The free space for my iphone on itunes does not match the free space on my iphone after syncing. iTunes shows 6.7 G free, but my iphone shows 6 G free. Why such a delta?

They've never sussed this out - been a problem the last year or two for me regardless of all the new iOS versions and iTunes versions. Regardless of multiple resets and full restores.  Mine showed 3.7 avail on computer, less than .5 on phone.  I did a reset and full restore.  It helped - but still differs dramatically - now showing 5.8 avail on computer but only 2.9 on phone.
APPLE!!! I have spent 10s of thousands on your products both at my business and home - why?  "Because it just works" I've been telling people.  Not sure if I can keep on saying that if you don't get this figured out!!

No there's not.  Otherwise that wouldn't be very secure, would it?

  • Constant "you have changed the settings for the iphone" in iTunes

On my iPhone 4, I can sync my phone with no issues, and when the sync is done and I switch over to the iTunes store or my library, it always pops up with "You have changed the settings for the iphone "my iPhone". Would you like to apply these settings?"
I can hit apply, go to something different, come back, do nothing but sync my phone again, and as soon as I switch back to something else, I get the message again...
I didn't change anything, but it keeps saying I have?

    Wow...
    That is pretty bad...
From what I've gathered. There has been an increasing number of issues ever since iTunes 9 and more problems with iOS4 for the non iPhone 4 users.
It's such a shame because I used to actually comment on how iTunes worked seamlessly and so quickly. This actually feels as if I'm running a typical bloated windows software now. [And to my great surprise, an equal number of people using iTunes on MacOS have given the same kind of feedback. I originally thought it was restricted to just windows users.]

  • HT1386 what is included in the other section of the iphone and how do you reduceit

while syncing my iphone 4s the "other" section on the bar at the bottom jumped up to take up 5.42 gb out of no where. what is in this section and how do i remove things from there?

The "other" is normally <1 GB, and includes the iOS, app data, messages and email.  If it expands, this usually means ther is either corrupted data or metadat (file system errors) in the phone.
To fix, Restore the phone, first using a backup and if needed as new (without using a backup)

  • ITunes doesn't show the 5.0 update for verizon iPhone 4, iTunes doesn't show the 5.0 update for verizon iPhone 4

OK the 5.0 update has been out for a day, but my itunes still doesn't show the 5.0 update ( wants to update to 4.2.10 which I skipped) available for my verizon iphone 4. Anyone know what is going on?  Is it just my phone? Do I have to do the interim updates first?

  • I forgot the pass code for my iphone 4s  iTunes will not restore because "find my phone" needs to be turned off.

I am trying to open my iphone and can't remember my recently changed pass code.  I tried syncing with iTunes and restoring.  I can't restore because "find my phone" needs to be turned off.  I can't turn it off because I can't open my phone.  What can I do?

You can access iCloud.com on a computer to turn it off.

  • 7.5 GB "Other" section on my iphone?

Just 'wire' syncing my fairly new iPhone5 today and I see a HUGE 7.5 gig 'other' secction.  Anyone have any idea what's up with that?  I sese no way to determine via the phone or iTunes just what it's comprised.  One suggestion was to do a full restore on the phone, but what's to keep it from just happening again when I restore from backup to get my contacts and such back?

I ended up working through this by doing a reset (holding top key and home key together until I got Apple logo), then a re-sync seems to have put things back in order.  Still have some 'other', but not the horrendous amount it was showing originally.
    Thanks.....
    Problem solved.

  • What is the other data on my iPhone in itunes

Not sure what other is and it is filling up my iphone. I can't see what the data is. Can anyone help?

It's miscellaneous. Space used by apps on your phone, temporary files, system files, caches, etc. It is normal to have it, nothing to worry about.

  • Itunes 9 had application management for my Iphone, i can not find it in itunes 10 and a lot of the writing such as check for updates does not show up, only the button is there

How do I manage applications for my iphone in Itunes 10 like I used to in Itunes 9?  Also it appears that since the last update many of the words on itunes itself are missing, i see the button but no writing beside it how do i get it back?

Doublechecking before proceeding, tita. Are you seeing something a bit like this?
... or is something different going on?
Which Windows OS are you using? (XP, Vista, or 7?)

  • How do I get rid of the other section on iphone content bar?

I have trouble decreasing the amount of the yellow other section on the iphone content bar on itunes, I believe it consists of background encrypted data but I dont know how to decrease it

A small amount is normal. If there is lots, and you don't have apps with large anounts of private data, then I'd suggest you backup, then restore.

  • How do i get rid of the other section on itunes, how do i get rid of the other section on itunes

the "other" sections on my Iphone 4s and Ipod keep getting bigger. How do I minimize this?

Other includes data such as iPhone settings, contacts, calendar events, Safari bookmarks/cache/cookies, email and email attachments, SMS/MMS/iMessages, notes, data created and stored by a 3rd party apps.  Minimizing this data will conserve on the size of Other.  If it becomes unusally large (>2 GB) then there may be someting corrupt in it and you will need to restore your phone to correct this.
