My Overlay Creator preview won

I just updated the folio tools again in InDesign and still my Overlay Creator preview, in the overla

Looks like an InDesign query. Could you post at http://forums.adobe.com/community/indesign ?

  • InDesign CS 5.5: Overlay Creator preview issues

I'm currently working on creating a tablet publication pitch for a client and followed the directions to install the Folio Producer tools compatible with CS 5.5 and everything seems to be working... except for the preview option on Overlay Creator and any other preview option on my computer. I uploaded the document to test it on Adobe Content Viewer and it worked, but that's really clunky to test my interactivity. Is there something I need to do to make it I can preview my folio on my computer?
    Thanks.

I am trying to use the preview capability that is built into Overlay Creator and any of the other interactive tools in InDesign. I cannot find Adobe Content Viewer to download to my desktop. I thought maybe it was just a part of the Folio Builder download. Basically, there is no way I can preview my work on my desktop. The only way I can preview is by actually uploading the folio and previewing it on my iPad. I am on Mac OS X version 10.7.5.

  • Overlay Creator looks different and there's no preview button

When I'm working at home I have Lion OS and the overlay creator has more of a vertical layout and the preview button is prominently placed on the bottom of the palette. When I'm at work the OS is Snow Leopard and the overlay creator is more horizontal and there is no preview button (see screen shot)
When I first saw this I thought the difference was do to the OS but where's the preview. The preview under Interactive doesn't appear to work for overlays...

That is very, very old version of the overlay creator from the prerelease program. Time to update your tools.

  • Nothing new in CS6 for Overlay Creator?

Is no-one else a little dissapointed there's nothing new as far as the Overlay Creator Panel goes in InDesign? I realise javascript transitions are still in their infancy, but I was kind of hoping for further options with controlling object states and transitions.
Coming over from the Flash world, or even just the array of options that InDesign offers in the way of Flash presets, I feel there's a lack of this for .folio files.
I've been experimenting with Wallaby for a while, the massive work around to replicate a simply Flash transition is still to clunky. Even with the cleanest Flash files built from scratch (we're talking a single tween) it still throws out too many errors, but thats not my problem. The fact you can't even preview your then exported transition in the Desktop Viewer is just poor. Any good reason why this isn't possible, because having to go through the iPad Content Viewer every time is making for the longest workflow imaginable.
I suppose I should learn more about CSS3/Javascript, but I thought the point of this was what you can do inside of InDesign, without having to go InDesign > Flash > Wallaby > Opening CSS files > InDesign > Adobe DPS > iPad to make a simple animation?

    @Neil,
Thought I'd let this stew for a day while I checked out Edge. Bear in mind I juggle lots of different projects on a daily basis, but manged to get to grips with it immediately. Timeline, keyframes, eases, scenes… its just like Flash. Wow! Only in a more friendly and modern Adobe interface (I always felt like Flash was stuck with some Macromedia mentality).
Very impressed with this on the surface. I've no idea what kidn of code it kicks out, and I don't care, as far as components to websites or using in conjunction with DPS this is great. I suppose our developer could always tidy up the script if need be. Very much looking forward to full release.
    Quick question though
This expires in 35 days. Is it refering to my particular install or is this is message saying all copies of Edge? I just couldn't figure out if this means I won't be able to continue testing it, or everyone won't?
    @Peter
I agree, this kind of thing probably should be kept out of InDesign, as its print programme at heart. Being able to edit text and produce layouts quickly is my main concern, anything the slows it down isn't helpful in my eye. I'd say there is a fair bit of Photoshop influence in there no though, layer styles have a lot to be thankful for.

  • New Overlay Creator tools (Pullout Tabs)

    Hello DPS community,
My question is in regards to the new tools available in DPS. I have created my folio for my senior degree project over the last few months. I have a 3rd generation iPad that I am previewing my project with the new version of Content Viewer.
I would like to use some of the new tools available in the latest version of the Overlay Creator, mostly for the new pan & zoom features like those Pullout Tabs Adobe has shared with us on the DPS tips app. However my Overlay Creator panel must not be up to date because it does not display these new functions like Scrollable Frame. How can I update my Overlay Creator Panel so that I can take advantage of these new features? Do I just run an update on InDesign or do I have to download a new version of the Overlay Creator? Also will updating the Overlay Creator Panel negatively effect my overall project in any way? I am a little hesitant to update because everything works well as is and I don't want to break it and go into freakout mode. Has anyone had any experiences updating to the new tools, any problems while previewing or creating on InDesign. I am waiting to hear back before I attempt to update.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ryan

  • Indesign 5.5 wont load overlay creator

This image shows what Overlay Creator looks like when I try to add something, specifically a video. It wont give me options to do anything with it, even tho the Media window does recognize it and allows me to create the poster from the video, overlay creator wont, and the folio preview wont play the video at all.
I tried deleting Indesign preferences already (ctrl+alt+shift) but nothing changed.
Are there any steps to follow which Im not aware about?
I am adding the video from the Media window.
When I save it to pdf interactive I do see the video but not in my folio preview at Content Viewer
    Thanks

    That worked Amazingly Tomek!!
    Thanks a lot!!
Im having problems now with adding pan and zoom images, wont give me the option to adjust pan and zoom on images, is there a default image (im using jpg) file to be used only?
Is there a page with a list of files accepted by overlay creator?
    Thanks again!!

  • Overlay creator crashing InDesign

    Hello,
I've been working with DPS in InDesign CS5.5 with no problems. About five days ago I updated to the current Folio Producer Tools and Folio Panel Tools for CS5.5 and have had no problems. Today out of the blue, every time I try to open the Overlay Creator panel it crashes InDesign.
I am on a Mac and I have rebooted, trashed InDesign preferences, uninstalled the tools and reinstalled, and even went back to an earlier version of the Folio Producer and Folio Panel. I tried opening the Overlay Creator in a new blank document and it still crashes the entire program.
I'm tearing my hair out and would appreciate any new suggestions of what I might try.
    Thank you,
    lkovalic

    Hi Dave,
I'm not sure how the server problems would affect opening the Overlay Creator -- I'm not trying to upload anything or trying to do a preview -- the simple act of trying to open the Overlay Creator extension is what is crashing InDesign. Doesn't that extension reside on my computer?
    Thank you,
    lkovalic

  • PDF files created in Preview won't open in Adobe Reader

I consider Preview to be a swiss army knife when it comes to working with PDF and graphic files. Lately (since the last OS update?) PDF files created in Preview won't open in Adobe Reader. Reader either crashes or just becomes unresponsive. I've been able to open the files in older versions of Adobe Professional but Reader 8 or 9 can't open the files. Anyone else experiencing these problems?

Yes. We noticed this problem after upgrading to 10.6.7. When we made a PDF from Word 2011 or even Text Edit through Adobe's "Save as Adobe PDF" it would hang. When we made a PDF using Apple's "Save as PDF" it would lock up Acrobat Pro 9 and also Acrobat Pro X. NOTE that this only happened using Adobe OTF fonts.
I posted this problem on Adobe's forum and received a message from admin there that this was caused by a change in font handling with Apple's 10.6.7 update.
As of yet, no solution has been posted. I also received a message from Adobe's Tech Support that it was forwarded to their engineers.
    Still waiting.

  • I can't seem to get rid of OR use Adobe Reader after I let it into Safari 7.  How do I get to the point where Reader is not my preferred anything, but can still be used if Preview won't open something?

I can't seem to get rid of OR use Adobe Reader after I let it into Safari 7.  How do I get to the point where Reader is not my preferred anything, but can still be used if Preview won't open something?

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
              Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
              Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • I received a .pdf document as an attachment to an Entourage Email. It refuse to print on my HP4050N printer which is otherwise performing as advertised. Printing fron the desktop, Adobe 9.4.4 nor Preview won't work. I have a PowerPC G5, OS 10.4.11.

I think the file has somehow been corrupted. Can you have the person that sent it to you send another copy?

  • Preview won't print

Preview won't print most PDF files that I've created using the 'Save as PDF' in the print dialog window. It just spits out blank pages. If I select 'Preview' it show the document correctly but telling it to Print just produces a lot of blank pages.
This also happens to many PDF files that I've downloaded and were not created on my machine.
Any ideas what the problem is?
    Thanks in advance

Sounds like a driver issue. Has this ever worked or is this the first time you've tried? I'd test in a new user to be sure it isn't a corrupt Preview preference (which you could isolate in ~/Library/Preferences/). If the same thing happens in a new user, I'd say it's the printer settings. Try resetting the printer system via Printer Setup Utility and then go back to Sys Prefs > Print & Fax to add your printer. You could need to re-install the driver as well if that doesn't resolve. Good luck!

  • Preview won't open.  It will open when in test mode but not in my user mode.\

I'm running Yosemite 10.10.2.  My Preview won't open.  I followed Linc's advice and removed many files but Preview still won't open.  I have tried cold booting to no avail.

I just figured out how to open Preview...... Open Finder>Documents>click on any PDF or JPEG.  Preview opens.  Now, if I could only get it to open from the Dock.

  • I cant' print using firefox. print preview won't display, won't print, printing dialog box won't display, etc

Seems like since I updated to firefox 5 I can't print web pages, print preview won't work. I click on the print option under file and nothing displays or prints.

Try the Firefox SafeMode and see if you can initiate printing from within Firefox. <br />
    ''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    # You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    # Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

  • Where is the "Scrollable Frame" on the Overlay Creator panel?

I can't seem to find the "Scrollable Frame" on my Overlay Creator panel and now I'm caught in the middle. Is there anything that I missed? I can only see the following:
    Hyperlink
    Slideshow
    Image Sequence
    Audio & Video
    Panorama
    Web Content
    Pan & Zoom.

I know you mean the other Bob, but the purpose of that is to have something to align with the edge of the scrollable content.
Without the dummy content you wouldn’t be able to position the content. Try doing it without that and you’ll see the problem.
